  • To perform the certificate validation on the user-side application induces the very considerable overhead on the user-side system because of the complex and time-consuming characteristic of the validation processing. Most of the time spend for performing the validation processing is required for the digital signature verification, since the verification accompanies with the cryptographic calculation over each certificate on the certificate path. In this paper, we propose a new certificate validation scheme using DSVP(Delegated Signature Validation Protocol) which can reduce the overhead for the user-side certificate validation processing. It is achieved by delegating the digital signature verification to CAs of the PKI domain. As the proposed DSVP is the protocol performed between a user and CAs, it is applied to the hierarchical PKI efficiently and used for delegating the digital signature verification reliably and safely, our proposed scheme can not only reduces the overhead for the validation processing by decreasing the cryptographic calculation but also improves the utilization of CAs by employing them to the validation processing.

  • The validation technique is classified with two methods whether to demand of additional experimental points. The method which requires additional experimental points such as RSME is actually impossible in engineering field. Therefore, the method which only use experimented points such as the cross validation technique is only available. But the cross validation not only requires considerable computational costs for generating metamodel each iterations, but also cannot measure quantitatively the fidelity of metamodel. In this research we propose a new validation technique for representative metamodels using an variance of metamodel and confidence interval information. The proposed validation technique computes confidence intervals using a variance information from the metamodel. This technique will have influence on choosing the accurate metamodel, constructing ensemble of each metamodels and advancing effectively sequential sampling technique.

  • A Requirement statement validation process is suggested which was established and applied to the rolling stock development project of the Korean Railway Research Institute. The validation process includes team organization, selection of validation criteria, development of validation template, education of team members, validation, construction of database and management of requirement change. Many defects in the specification of requirement were found to be associated with the problem of non-uniqueness, describing solution instead of problem, ambiguity and redundancy. This paper described detailed activities at each step of the validation process and lessons learned from these activities.

  • The smoothing parameter $\lambda$ in smoothing spline regression is usually selected by minimizing cross-validation (CV) or generalized cross-validation (GCV). But, simple CV or GCV is poor candidate for estimating prediction error. We defined MGCV (Multifold Generalized Cross-validation) as a criterion for selecting smoothing parameter in smoothing spline regression. This is a version of cross-validation using $leave-\kappa-out$ method. Some numerical results comparing MGCV and GCV are done.

  • Waste characterisation associated with nuclear site decommissioning relies on radiochemical analysis of a diverse range of sample types, requiring extensive validation of analytical techniques using matrix-matched materials. The absence of relevant reference materials has hindered robust method development and validation. The paper discusses how method validation in support of nuclear waste characterisation can be achieved without using reference materials. The key stages in an analytical procedure are evaluated and a multi-stage approach is proposed with the ultimate aim of determining an operational envelope for an analytical procedure.

  • In this paper, we study validation test methods of DEVSA(Descrete Event system Specification) models using SPN(Stochastic Petri Net) models. We discuss conventional validation test methods, by which DEVS models can be transformed to SPN models, by reviewing the features of DEVS model. Based on the model transformation method, we define a new homogeneous function for validation test and suggest a new validation test method of DEVS models using the property of SPN models and the new homogeneous function.

  • Most applications using the PKI allows a user to execute the certificate validation processing. The efficiency of user system can be declined by the user-side processing resulting the overhead and low speed of the validation processing. Therefore, in this paper, we propose a new certificate validation processing method can decrease the overhead on user by allowing CAs of the hierarchical PKI to participate in the validation processing. Therefore, our proposed scheme can not only reduce the considerable overhead caused by the user-side whole processing without a new implementation of the delegated server but also improve the time spent for the processing by the reduction of the validation processing job on user.

  • Conventional researches of standard tool validating public key cryptographic algorithm have been studied for the internet environment, not for the mobile internet. It is important to develop the validation tool for establishment of interoperability and convenience of users in mobile internet. Therefore, this paper presents the validation tool of Elliptic Curie Cryptography algorithm that can test if following X9.62 technology standard specification. The validation tool can be applied all information securities using ECDSA, ECKCDSA, ECDH, etc. Moreover, we can en-hace the precision of validation through several experiments and perform the validation tool in the online environment.

  • The state of registry issues a type certificate validation (TCV) based on the satisfactory evidence that the product (aircraft, engine, and propeller) is in compliance with the appropriate airworthiness requirements. The Korean government performs an evaluation to determine whether the product complies with Korean airworthiness standards for issuing TCV according to the Korean aviation safety law. Recently, the Validation Principles Working Group (VPWG) has developed a risk-based model for validation of civil aeronautical products. Also, VPWG proposed to incorporate this validation model into the corresponding ICAO Standards and Recommended Practices and guidance material. In this paper, we have reviewed the validation model and discussed improvements in the validation process.

  • Modeling and simulation of mechanical response of infrastructure object, solids and structures, relies on the use of computational models to foretell the state of a physical system under conditions for which such computational model has not been validated. Verification and Validation (V&V) procedures are the primary means of assessing accuracy, building confidence and credibility in modeling and computational simulations of behavior of those infrastructure objects. Validation is the process of determining a degree to which a model is an accurate representation of the real world from the perspective of the intended uses of the model. It is mainly a physics issue and provides evidence that the correct model is solved (Oberkampf et al. 2002). Our primary interest is in modeling and simulating behavior of porous particulate media that is fully saturated with pore fluid, including cyclic mobility and liquefaction. Fully saturated soils undergoing dynamic shaking fall in this category. Verification modeling and simulation of fully saturated porous soils is addressed in more detail by (Tasiopoulou et al. 2014), and in this paper we address validation. A set of centrifuge experiments is used for this purpose. Discussion is provided assessing the effects of scaling laws on centrifuge experiments and their influence on the validation. Available validation test are reviewed in view of first and second order phenomena and their importance to validation. For example, dynamics behavior of the system, following the dynamic time, and dissipation of the pore fluid pressures, following diffusion time, are not happening in the same time scale and those discrepancies are discussed. Laboratory tests, performed on soil that is used in centrifuge experiments, were used to calibrate material models that are then used in a validation process. Number of physical and numerical examples are used for validation and to illustrate presented discussion. In particular, it is shown that for the most part, numerical prediction of behavior, using laboratory test data to calibrate soil material model, prior to centrifuge experiments, can be validated using scaled tests. There are, of course, discrepancies, sources of which are analyzed and discussed.
