EffEct of vacuum annealing on an oxidation of milled WC-Co powder (분쇄된 초경합금 분말의 산화에 미치는 진공열처리 효과)

  • The effect of vacuum annealing on the oxidation behavior of milled WC-15%Co powder mixture has been studied. A cobalt component in the milled powder mixture was oxidized preferentially above 175$^{\circ}C$ in air. The specimens showed a steady increase in weight at 175$^{\circ}C$ but did constant weight followed by rapid increase in specimen weight at the beginning above 20$0^{\circ}C$. Oxidation of the milled powder mixture was significantly suppressed by vacuum annealing at 30$0^{\circ}C$ for 10 h. Suppression of oxidation by vacuum annealing and different oxidation behaviors of the milled powder mixture between 175$^{\circ}C$ and 20$0^{\circ}C$, were attributed to removal of strain energy stored in the cobalt powder during vacuum annealing or oxidation treatment above 20$0^{\circ}C$. The role of stored strain energy on oxidation of milled WC-15%Co powder mixture was proved by X-ray diffraction method and differential thermal analysis.

  • Silicidation of the Co/Ti/Si bilayer system in which Ti is used as epitaxy promoter for $CoSi_2$has recently received much attention. The Co/Ti bilayer on the spacer oxide of gate electrode must be thermally stable at high temperatures for a salicide transistor to be fabricated successfully. In the $SiO_2$substrate was rapid-thermal annealed. The Sheet resistances of the Co/Ti bilayer increased substantially after annealing at $600^{\circ}C$, which is due to the agglomeration of the Co layer to reduce the interface energy between the Co layer and the $SiO_2$substrate. In the bilayer system insulating Ti oxide stoichiometric Ti oxide and silicide were not found after annealing.

Tribological Properties of Co-Sputtered $MoS_2$ Films

  • Tribological properties of co-sputtered Molybdenum disulfide $(MoS_2)/Carbon\;(C)$ films were studied and compared with those of sputtered $MoS_2$ films. Friction tests were carried out using pin-on-disk friction testers to evluated their friction and wear behaviors in a vacuum ($10^{-5}Pa$), air and humid air of 30, 50, 80% RH. $MoS_2/C$ (14%) composite films exhibited about 9 times longer wear life in a vacuum and about 6 times longer wear life in dry air than $MoS_2$ films did. They also showed stable low friction coefficient of about 0.02 in a vacuum. In humid air, however, $MoS_2/C$ composite films hardly showed good tribological properties.

Surface Crystalline Modification for Asymmetric Giant Mngnetoimpedance Profile in Annealed Co-based Amorphous Ribbons

  • Microstructure modifications are investigated for annealed Co-based amorphous ribbon in vacuum and open air. X-ray diffraction (XRD) spectra for annealed sample in vacuum indicate atomic arrangements with initial nucleation of hcp-Co crystallite at 38$0^{\circ}C$ annealing temperature. However, the XRD spectra in samples with long annealing times of $t_a\geq300$ min demonstrate sharp and good developed surface crystalline hcp-, fcc- Co and $Co_2$Si phases. The giant magnetoimpedance (GMI) profile at 0.1 MHz displaying one-peak behavior in vacuum annealed samples at T = 38$0^{\circ}C$ irrespective of annealing time $t_a$ from 20 to 480 mim. For the annealed samples in an open air, the GMI profile shows two-peaks for $t_a$ = 20 min annealed sample. However, one of peaks disappears and an asymmetric GMI profile exhibits a drastic step-like change near zero field for $t_a\geq300$min. Such asymmetric GMI characteristics is related to the surface microstructures of fcc-Co, hop-Co and $Co_2$Si crystalline phases.

Effect of Fe Doping on Thermoelectric Properties of Mechanically Alloyed $CoSb_3$

  • Fe doped skutterudite $CoSb_3$ with a nominal composition of $Fe_xCo_{1-x}Sb_{12}(0{\leq}x{\leq}2.5)$ have been synthesized by mechanical alloying (MA) of elemental powders, followed by vacuum hot pressing. Phase transformations during mechanical alloying and vacuum hot pressing were systematically investigated using XRD. Single phase skutterudite was successfully produced by vacuum hot pressing using as-milled powders without subsequent annealing. However, second phase of $FeSb_2$ was found to exist in case of $x\geq2$, suggesting the solubility limit of Fe with Co in this system. Thermoelectric properties as functions of temperature and Fe contents were evaluated for the hot pressed specimens. Fe doping up to x=1.5 with Co in $Fe_xCo_{4-x}Sb_{12}$ appeared to increase thermoelectric figure of merit (ZT) and the maximum ZT was found to be 0.78 at 525K in this study.

  • Crucially, effective catalysts must be capable of efficiently catalyzing the protonation of adsorbed CO to adsorbed CHO or COH. One of the strategies is alloying with metals with higher oxygen affinity and Au-Zn alloy is one of the best candidates. At first, we made Au-Zn alloy using vacuum evaporating method. Zn was deposited on the Au(211) surface and the amount was estimated by X-ray photoelectron spectroscopy (XPS) using the relative sensitivity of Au 4f and Zn 3d. We investigated CO adsorption on a clean Au(211) and Au-Zn alloy using temperature-programmed desorption (TPD) and XPS. From the TPD results, we can conclude that the presence of the particular step sites at the Au(211) surface imparts stronger CO bonding and Zn atoms are sitting on the step sites at the Au(211) when Zn is deposited. The XPS results show the oxygen atoms of CO bond Zn atoms on Au-Zn surface. It should be an evidence that alloying Zn atoms that has high oxygen affinity into an electrocatalyst may allow CHO* to bind to the surface through both the carbon and oxygen atoms.

Effect of $CO_{2}$ Gas Packaging on the Shelf-life of Refrigerated Pork Cuts (탄산가스 포장에 의한 신선돈육의 저장성향상에 관한 연구)

  • Shelf-life of pork packaged under $CO_{2}$ was observed and the optimal volume of $CO_{2}$ gas was determined. High gas barrier film, EVOH($CO_{2}$ permiability; 1 $cc/cm^{2}{\cdot}24\;h{\cdot}atm$) was used as packaging material and the volume ratios of sample to $CO_{2}$ of 1 : 1, 1 : 3 and 1 : 5 were tried using the control of vacuum packaged pork. To ev.3luate quality of pork cuts, total plate counts, TBA, color and sensory score were monitored during the storage at $4{\pm}1^{\circ}C$ for 31 days. TPC of vacuum packaged pork increased up to $4.6{\times}10^{6}\;CFU/cm^{2}$ in 24 days while that of $CO_{2}$ gas packaged pork $4.5{\times}10^{5}\;CFU/cm^{2}$ at the same storage period, and it took 7 days more for gas packaged pork to reach the same TPC count. There was no significant difference in TBA value between vacuum packaged and gas packaged pork. In the color L and a values were not affected by treatment but vacuum packaged pork cuts showed higher b value than gas packaged pork. According to sensory evaluation, gas packaged pork showed less off flavor, better flavor and freshness than vacuum packaged one (P<0.05).

  • 삼원화합물 반도체 CuAlSe2 및 CuGaSe2 단결정의 solid solution 인 CuAl1-xGaxSe2 및 cobalt를 2.0 mol% 첨가한 CuAl1-xGaxSe2 : Co2+ 단결정을 iodine을 수송물질로 사용한 화학수송법으로 성장시켰 다. source material로는 CuAl1-xGaxSe2 의 화학조성비에서 Se를 3.0mol% 과잉으로 첨가하여 합성한 ingot를 사용하였으며 불순물이 첨가된 CuAl1-xGaxSe2:Co2+ 단결정성장시에는 source ma-terial 에 cobalt 분말을 2.0mol% 첨가하였다. X-선 회절무늬로부터 성장된 단결정들이 chalcopyrite 결정구조를 하고 있음을 확인하였으며 격자상수를 구하였다. 광흡수 spectra 측정으로부터 성장된 단결정에서 나타 는 cobalt 불순물에 의한 광흡수 peak가 Td 대칭점에위치한 Co2+ 이온의 에너지 준위들간 전자전이에 의해 나타남을 규명하였다.

  • Cobalt (Co) 박막은 낮은 저항과 우수한 열적 안정성에 의해 금속 배선공정에서 copper의 확산 및 산화를 방지하기 위해 사용된다. Co 박막을 증착하기 위해서는 유기화학 증착법이 많이 사용되고, 이를 위해 많은 Co 전구체들이 연구되어지고 있다. 본 연구에서는 $Co(hfac)_2$ 전구체의 플라즈마 및 반응가스에 따른 기상상태의 변화와 증착공정에서 발생되는 입자의 크기와의 상관관계를 연구하였다. 실험의 변수로 반응가스 ($H_2$, $H_2O$)와 플라즈마 파워 (0~50W)를 사용하였다. 또한 Co 전구체의 기상분해 및 반응을 분석을 위해 fourier transform infrared (FT-IR) spectroscopy를 사용하였다. 그리고 기상상태의 변화가 입자 형성에 끼치는 영향을 관찰하기 위해 저압에서 실시간으로 나노입자를 측정할 수 있는 장비인 particle beam mass spectrometer (PBMS)를 활용하였다.

A Study on the Phase Formation and Sequence in Co/Si System during Ion Beam Mixing (Ion Beam Mixing에 의한 Co/Si 계의 상 형성 및 전이에 관한 연구)

  • 본 연구에서는 Co/Si 계에 대한 이온선 혼합실험을 온도와 이온선량을 변수로 하여 실시하였고, Co/Si 계에 대한 상형성 과정을 금속/Si 계에 대한 이온선 혼합시의 비정질상 및 결정상 형성예측 모델(ADF Model)과 초기 결정상 예측 모델(PDF Model)을 이용하여 해석하였다. 이온선 혼합은 80KeV 가속기를 이용하여 상온$-400^{\circ}C$의 온도 범위에서 1.0X1015Ar+/$\extrm{cm}^2$-2.0X1016Ar+/$\textrm{cm}^2$의 이온선량을 변화시키면서 실험하였으며 상분석은 투과전자현미경(TEM)과 X선 회절 분석을 이용하였다. Co/Si 계에서 이온선 혼합시 형성되는 초기 결정상은 Co2Si이며 이온선량의 증가에 따라 CoSi로 상전이하였다. 이러한 실험 결과는 비정질상 및 결정상 형성 예측 모델(ADF model)과 초기 결정상 예측모델(PDF model)의 예측결과와 매우 잘 일치하고 있다. 이상의 연구 결과로부터 ADF 모델과 PDF모델을 이용하여 박막에서 형성되는 상을 보다 정확히 예측할 수 있음을 알 수 있었다.
