  • Objective: This study explored the mediating effects of language development on the influences of young children's media use on positive and negative peer interactions. Methods: The data came from the 2013 Panel Study on Korean Children (N = 1,215) and were analyzed to assess the mediating effects of media use on positive and negative peer interactions, using SEM with the bootstrapping method by means of SPSS 21.0 and AMOS 20.0. Results and Conclusion: The results show that increased media use affects positive and negative peer interactions through language development. This indicates that, while media use does not directly affect positive and negative peer interactions, it appears to increase the difficulty of developing language ability; as the language development worsens, undesirable peer interactions may develop. Thus, language development seems to play an important mediating role between media use and peer interactions. Theoretical and practical implications are discussed.

  • The current study explored the factors that affect the addictive use of facebook. This study focused on the relationship between personal characters and the addictive use of facebook. To define the addictive use of facebook, various issues and the definitions of the Internet addiction were first considered in the theoretical background. Then depression, extroversion, openness, and communication competence were considered as the personal characters. Data were obtained by online survey and 600 responses were gathered. The results revealed that depression predicted the higher degree of the addictive use and low communication competence positively affected the addictive use of facebook. However, after controlling for communication competence, depression and extroversion were both associated the addictive use of facebook. Further, social compensation perspectives and social enhancement perspectives, and the policies on the SNS addiction were discussed.

  • The purpose of this study is to closely examine relationship of the system re-use intention depending on CRS technology acceptance. Accordingly, questionnaire was widely distributed to 160 CRS users by convenient sampling targeting people in charge of task among employees for airlines and travel agencies, who are working-level staffs for CRS. Among these things, totally 142 valid materials were used in analysis. The analytical data processing was utilized SPSSWIN VER 18.0 and AMOS 18.0. The findings can be summarized as follows. Influential variables in CRS technology acceptance had significant influence upon the perceived ease use, the perceived usability, and the re-use intention. Also, the significant positive(+) influence was revealed to be had upon the perceived usability by the perceived ease use and upon the re-use intention by the perceived usability and ease use.

  • The purpose of this study is to apply land use planning model (LUPM) to a test village. The LUPM was tested to Uhang village, Ucheon-myeon, Gangwon-do, and its parameters calibrated by land use data from 1973 to 1980. When two test cases were considered of its extended built areas of 10,600㎡ from 1980 to 1985 and 51,300㎡ from 1985 to 1992, there was good similarities between simulated and observed results with R$^2$ being more than 0.95. Land use transfer patterns to residential use could be very similarly simulated from LUPM when comparing the observed patterns, so, LUPM can be applied to the comprehensive simulation of land use change due to the village growth.

  • The purpose of this study is to evaluate the temporal land cover change by gradual urbanization of Gyeongan-cheon watershed. This study used the five land use of Landsat TM satellite images(l987, 1991, 2001, 2004) which were classified by maximum likelihood method. The five land use maps examine its accuracy by error matrix and administrative district statistics. This study analyze land use patterns in the past using time.series Landsat satellite images, and predict 2004 year land use using a CA-Markov combined CA(Cellular Automata) and Markov process, and examine its appropriateness. Finally, predict 2030, 2060 year land use maps by CA-Markov model were constructed from the classified images.

  • This paper investigated the relationships among Korean EFL learners' listening anxiety, listening strategy use, and listening proficiency. One hundred and forty four Korean college students who were enrolled in the required practical English classes participated in this study. Questionnaires related to students' listening strategy use and listening anxiety were administered and a TOEIC listening comprehension test was given to measure the students' listening proficiency. The one-way ANOVA was used to analyze the data. The findings of this study are that the students' listening performance is positively correlated with their strategy use and negatively correlated with their anxiety level, and their strategy use is negatively correlated with their anxiety level. The results suggest that successful learning will occur when anxiety is reduced and when the use of strategies is encouraged more often. The pedagogical implications for EFL educators and teachers are described.

  • The objective of this study is to find the factors influencing the use of mobile service. We extracted critical study variables according to literature reviews about adoption of information systems, those under the internet environment and mobile internet adoption for theoretical foundation. TAM suggested by Davis(1985) has explained the acceptance mechanism with the following constructs: perceived usefulness, perceived ease of use, attitude toward use, behavioral intention and actual usage. After studying prior literature reviews, this study investigated the group of people using mobile services. The result of study claims that it has same results with previous TAM, especially between personal innovativeness and attitude toward use have strong statistical relations. On the other hand, there haven't been any statistical relations between perceived ease of use and perceived usefulness and between perceived usefulness and behavioral intention, either. In conclusion, use of mobile service can be promoted by developing various kinds of mobile service, designing device and interface to use mobile service more convenience and familiar, stimulating user's innovative characters and recognizing mobile service more useful in real life.

  • The subjects for this study consisted of 301 Korean-American students in grades 6 to 12. Findings of this study showed that most of the risk factors in all domains demonstrated a strong relationship to the use of alcohol, tobacco, and other illicit drugs. In the community domain the most common risk factor was "laws favorable toward drug use"(60.2%); this risk factor increased the odds of substance use by approximately 3 times. The protective factor, "opportunity for positive involvement" in school domain reported by 82% of the sample decreased the probability of substance use by 3 times. The percentage of students "resilient" on all protective factors in the family domain was much lower than that of protective factors in other domains. The strongest predictors of substance use were shown in the peer-individual domain.

  • Because of the demographic and economic changes and the lifestyle diversification, the new housing types such as the Quasi-housing and urban small-size multi-unit housing are appeared in korea. The current housing use classifications are regulated in accordance with the housing divided ownership, horizontal and vertical size of housing, and the number of units. However, there is a limit to accommodate the new housing type. Therefore, this study proposed the direction of improvement of the housing use classifications through comparative analysis of foreign housing use classifications. Also, building regulations are applied according to the building use classifications. Therefore, the new housing types in building act are very urgent and important. So this study is derived the problems of the current housing use classifications and is proposed the improvement direction of it through the expert opinion survey.

  • Five metropolitan cities in Korea were the setting for a survey of the use of media by 622 families. Correlations with children's problem behavior, cognitive development, and family environment were analyzed. Parents completed questionnaires on media use by family members, children's problem behavior, and family environment. Children were tested individually with 4 sub-scales of the Wechsler Intelligence Scale. There were age as well as sex differences in the use of media. There were correlations between children's use of media and their problem behavior, intelligence, and family environment. Regression analyses revealed that the parents' use of media was the most important determinant of children's use of media. Therefore, adult media education as well as children's education is recommended as a way to improve the media environment for children.
