야간 도로조명에서 가로수의 배치가 조명품질에 미치는 영향에 관한 시뮬레이션 연구 (A Study on the Effect of Roadside Trees' Layout Affecting Lighting Quality on Roadways by Simulation Approach)

  • The uniformity of lighting distribution on the roadway is essential factor for drivers and pedestrians's safety during nighttime in urban streets. Also, the importance of roadside trees is one of the growing concern for better citizens' health and mitigating environmental impact on the urban street. But roadway lightings and roadside trees have different design or planting standards and they are not integrated in the systemic viewpoint for better safety of users during nighttime. The purpose of this study is to propose a simulation approach which assesses lighting quality in the view of illumination uniformity distribution of roadway lighting from design step and consider the layout of roadside trees. For improving lighting quality of roadway, simulation approach is needed for assessing the impact of diverse planting situation of trees and encouraged from beginning of design step for roadway construction.

도시환경 매핑 시 SLAM 불확실성 최소화를 위한 강화 학습 기반 경로 계획법 (RL-based Path Planning for SLAM Uncertainty Minimization in Urban Mapping)

  • For the Simultaneous Localization and Mapping (SLAM) problem, a different path results in different SLAM results. Usually, SLAM follows a trail of input data. Active SLAM, which determines where to sense for the next step, can suggest a better path for a better SLAM result during the data acquisition step. In this paper, we will use reinforcement learning to find where to perceive. By assigning entire target area coverage to a goal and uncertainty as a negative reward, the reinforcement learning network finds an optimal path to minimize trajectory uncertainty and maximize map coverage. However, most active SLAM researches are performed in indoor or aerial environments where robots can move in every direction. In the urban environment, vehicles only can move following road structure and traffic rules. Graph structure can efficiently express road environment, considering crossroads and streets as nodes and edges, respectively. In this paper, we propose a novel method to find optimal SLAM path using graph structure and reinforcement learning technique.

인간 열환경 지수를 이용한 생기후지도 작성 및 도시·조경계획 및 디자인에의 적용방안 (A Way for Creating Human Bioclimatic Maps using Human Thermal Sensation (Comfort) and Applying the Maps to Urban and Landscape Planning and Design)

  • 이 연구는 대구광역시에 위치한 중심상업지역을 포함한 국채보상운동공원과 2.28공원지역을 대상지로 미기후 실측과 컴퓨터 시뮬레이션을 이용해 여름철 인간 열환경 지수를 분석하고, 그 지수를 토대로 인간 생기후지도를 제작하여 향후 도시 조경계획 및 디자인에 이용할 방안을 모색하는데 목적을 두었다. 인간 열환경 지수를 분석하기 위해 필요한 자료들로서 기후자료(기온, 습도, 풍속, 태양 및 지구 복사에너지)와 도시공간 구성자료(건물의 위치와 높이; 수목의 위치와 높이; 수목의 종류와 건물 벽, 지표면의 재질; 태양 복사에너지 반사율과 지구 복사에너지 방사율)를 지리정보시스템 자료와 실측을 통해 구축하였다. 그 결과, 풍속이 약할수록 도시중심상업지역이 공원보다 높은 기온을 나타냈으며, 습도는 반대의 현상을 보였다. 특히, 주풍 방향의 길들은 지역풍의 영향으로 주풍과 직각방향의 길들보다 더 낮은 기온을 나타냈다. 여름철 열환경 지수에서 가장 큰 영향을 미치는 기후요소는 태양직사광선으로 나타났으며, 도시공간에서 그늘 조성이 가장 효과적인 열환경 개선 방법이었다. 그 방법 중 파고라에 수목그늘을 이중적으로 조성하는 방법이 가장 효과적이었으며, 북향의 건물 벽 앞에 수목그늘을 조성하는 것이 그 다음으로 효과적이었다. 또한, 수종 선택뿐만 아니라 식재방식에도 중점을 두어야 하는 것으로 나타났다. 양지의 열환경 지수는 따뜻한 정도(warm)에서 매우 더운 정도(very hot)로 나와, 음지의 중간(neutral)에서 따뜻한 정도(warm)에 비해 불쾌한 열환경이 조성되었다. 특히, 양지는 넓은 광장형태의 지역들이 좁은 길보다 더 불쾌한 결과를 보였다. 재질의 반사율을 건물 벽 0.15, 지표면 0.1 낮췄을 때, 열환경 지수가 음지에서는 한 단계 중 1/6만큼, 양지에서는 1/3만큼 감소됨을 알 수 있었다. 이와 같은 미기후적 접근방식이 도시 열환경 개선방안을 찾는데 효과적일 것이다.

전주 한옥마을의 도시재생사업이 지역변화에 미친 영향 (The Social and Economic Impact of the Urban Regeneration Project in Jeonju Hanok Village Area)

  • 최근 우리나라에서는 도시재생사업이 활발하게 추진되고 있으며 그 중 전주 한옥마을은 지속적으로 도시재생사업이 추진되는 대표적인 도시재생사업지이다. 이에 전주 한옥마을의 관광객 수는 급증하고 있는 추세이다. 그러나 관광객 수가 급증한 만큼 다양한 문제점이 발생하고 있으며 특히 상업화에 대한 우려가 높아지고 있다. 이에 본 연구에서는 정체성이 상실되고 상업화가 진행되는 전주 한옥마을을 대상으로 도시재생사업이 실질적으로 도시재생에 미친 영향을 물리적, 경제적, 사회적 재생 차원에서 분석하여 전주 한옥마을의 관리 및 새로운 정책 방향을 제시하고자 한다. 연구를 위하여 토지이용변화, 실거래가 변화와 SNS 데이터를 분석하였으며 분석결과는 다음과 같다. 첫째, 물리적 분석에서는 전주 한옥마을이 주요 도로를 중심으로 상업화가 진행되어 가고 있음을 파악했다. 급격한 상업화로 주민들의 생활공간이 관광객을 지원하는 상업공간으로 대체되고, 경제적 환경적 피해로 인한 거주 환경의 저하로 주민 이주를 초래하는 등 불합리한 현상이 속출하고 있다. 둘째, 경제적 분석에서는 2010년에는 도로에 따른 실거래가 차이가 없었으나 2016년에는 실거래가의 유의한 차이가 나타났다. 관광객의 통행량이 많으며 주요 관광지와 인접해 있는 도로의 실거래가가 가장 많이 증가한 것으로 나타났다. 실거래가 상승은 도시재생측면에서 긍정적 현상이지만 투자의 대상으로 인식될 우려가 있는 것으로 사료된다. 셋째, 사회적 분석에서는 관광객들은 주요 역사 문화 관광지 보다 상업적인 요소를 더 많이 이용하고 있으며, 관심 또한 많은 것을 확인 할 수 있었다. 하지만 한옥마을 상업화에 대한 의견도 많은 것으로 나타나 한옥마을의 정체성을 확립 할 수 있는 방안 마련이 필요할 것으로 사료된다. 이상과 같이 본 연구는 토지이용과 실거래가, SNS 자료를 중심으로 실태를 분석하여 전주 한옥마을 도시재생사업의 정책적 시사점을 제시하였다는데 의의가 있다.

City Festival in Tainan during the Colonial Period: Focusing on the Restoration of Mazu

  • Tainan was the capital of Taiwan and was the largest commercial city in Taiwan with a significant number of ports. However, after the end of the Qing era, the functions of the capital and major ports were shifted to Taipei and Kaohsiung, thus leading Tainan to lose its position. This article focuses on festivals in the city. The Qing dynasty administrative agency set up a local government that grouped multiple villages based on the religious beliefs which were closely related to the concept of the urban space as the primary temple. Mazu is an object of worship that attracted the attention of city residents from the Taisho era to the colonial era. At the Mazu temple in Tainan, which has acquired a new mystery, a Mazu festival was conducted with Mazu patrols. This festival was conducted from 1915 to 1937, when it was canceled due to the temple reorganization movement. At the festival, multiple participating groups used to compete to earn the luxury of running the pavilions. The procession ran through the north side of the city on the first day and the south side of the city on the second day. During this festival, in addition to going around the villages of the old city, a touring route was planned for the procession to pass through major landmarks related to the colonial administration and the Ginza-dori Shopping Street, which was newly created during the Taisho era. Therefore, this procession was unique because it ensured that people could explore the old and new streets that were transformed through urban remodeling during the colonial period. Moreover, passing through the licensed quarters called Shin-machi, which was relocated through urban remodeling by the administrative agency, allowed people to visualize the urban structure of colonial Taiwan. Tainan city was renewed through remodeling during the colonial period, thus leading to the formation of a new commercial area. The spirit of the people in Tainan city can be gauged based on the fact that the festival was financially and religiously supported by the merchants who promoted it. The restoration of Mazu during the colonial period indicates the restoration of urban commerce in Tainan, which had fallen from its position as the primary port city in Taiwan since the end of the Qing period. Therefore, it can be considered to represent the restoration of the city.

노상주차를 고려한 저층주거지 가로유형 분류에 관한 연구 (A Study on the Analysis of Street Types in Low-rise Residential Areas Considering Street Parking)

  • 이 연구는 저층주거지 가로의 노상주차가 가로환경에 미치는 영향을 분석하기 위한 사전 연구로서 실제 저층주거지를 대상으로 한 사례연구를 실시하였다. 우선, 이론적 배경과 선행연구 검토를 통해 저층주거지의 발생 배경과 변화 과정을 고찰하고, 주거지 가로환경에 영향을 주는 요소를 도출하였다. 다음으로, 선정기준을 바탕으로 송파구 방이2동의 주거지역을 사례 대상지로 선정하여 현장관찰을 실시한 후 가로, 건축물, 노상주차에 대한 현황분석을 실시하였다. 마지막으로, 앞서 분석한 결과를 바탕으로 저층주거지 가로의 위계와 건축물의 특성, 노상주차를 고려한 가로 유형화를 진행한 후 각 유형별 특성과 가로환경 개선을 위한 시사점을 제시하였다. 그 결과 노상주차는 사회적 합의가 이루어지기 어려운 주거지 가로에서 주로 발생하여 주거지 노상주차에 대한 대안 마련이 필요함을 시사하였다. 또한, 가로의 유형 분류 결과 동일한 지역의 이면도로라 할지라도 가로의 폭원과 저층부의 이용현황에 따라 다른 노상주차가 발생하고 그에 따른 해결방안이 필요함을 확인하였다.

도시복개하천의 복원사업 이후 인접 주거지의 물리적 특성 변화 (The Changes of Adjacent Residential Area after the Restoration of Covered Urban Streams)

  • This study aims to analyze the changes of adjacent residential area after the restoration of covered urban streams in seoul. The changes of adjacent residential area after restoration were analyzed by changes of land using, urban structure, individual lot of land and architecture to investigate relationship of the urban stream and residential change. The result as follows: the first one is the change of land use and urban structure in adjacent residential area. This change of infrastructure through stream restoration has transformed land use and urban structure in adjacent residential area. Secondly, there is the changes of the individual lot of land. It seemed that new development by combined lots would be concentrated in stream-side blocks. But, the changes of lots such as combining or dividing lots tend to be concentrated in stream-side, main road and main streets. In stream-side, commercial function of land use has changed to residential one which has restored streams landscape by transformation of lots use without changes of ownership-lots. Finally, there is the change of architecture. It turned out new building in adjacent residential area is similar to general development. However, new building in streamside is related to direction of stream. In addition, remodeling and expansion tend to change in commercial buildings on stream-side bridges of corner lots intensively. As a result, it is related to expectation of architectural activation and improvement of sidewalk environment by stream restoration.

UK Urban Regeneration Policy for Comprtitiveness: A Government Perspective

  • The UK Government's approach to how to deliver regeneration in its towns and cities has changed considerably in recent years. Traditionally, urban regeneration policy focused on reversing physical, economic and social decline in an area where market forces would not do this without intervention. Since 2010 urban regeneration has become a vital part of the Government's approach to increasing local growth and competitiveness and building a strong and balanced economy. The current emphasis is on a place-based approach to regeneration that builds on the particular strengths of different places to drive growth and addresses the factors that hold them back. This paper outlines the key features of current UK urban regeneration policy and how interventions to support regeneration and growth are being pursued at different spatial scales to ensure all parts of the country benefit. They include pan regional initiatives like the Northern Powerhouse and Midlands Way, to groups of local authorities operating at a sub regional level (combined authorities/city regions), Local Enterprise Partnerships, and a variety of smaller scale programmes delivering regeneration in areas of economic and social decline. The paper explains some of the policy instruments and funding programmes available to support regeneration, and provides case studies of some major urban regeneration projects that illustrate the new approach including housing and infrastructure improvements like the planned High Speed Rail 2 line. These are supporting regeneration through the creation of strategic partnerships involving government, places and investors. The paper concludes with some lessons from past and future regeneration schemes to improve their effectiveness and impact on places and enhance local growth potential.

1930년대 김종량의 H자형 한일절충식 도시주택 (Kim, Jong-Ryang's H-shaped Houses in 1930s in Seoul)

  • This stydy investigates H-shaped houses in 1930s and examines the characters and meanigs of Kim, Jong-Ryang's H-shaped houses as a new trial to urban Hanok of those days. He, who was concerned about the housing problem of Seoul, made an attempt to make various types of dwellings. Among them, this study focuses on Japanese-Korean Style H-shaped houses in Samcheong-dong. As the alternative housing type against other urban Hanok of Seoul in 1930s, the H-shaped houses of Kim, Jong Ryang had characters as follows : 1) H-shaped houses has two special characters. First, the whole space of a single house can be divided into a left region and a right region. Second, it can be divided to a front region and a rear region. In his H-shaped houses, the left/right division was expressed as folding of space-layers in parallel with urban streets. The front/rear division was used as classification of main-living space and sub-living space. 2) KJR's H-shaped Japanese-Korean Style houses were proved to be designed as urban housing against the extreme housing shortage of Seoul in 1930s. 3) His houses however were not accepted broadly as a urban house type because the construction cost of those was higher than an average and the element of Japanese style house was not adapted to Korea. Kim, Jong-Ryang's trial is valuable because it was the rare case of realization of many discourses as defects of existing house type. With more rigorous investigations on KJR's experiment in modern house type, we could understand the housing condition of Seoul in 1930s and modern urban houses more than before.

Haunting the London Streets: Virginia Woolf's Urban Travelogues Re-appraised

  • Woolf s preoccupation with the interplay between gender, commercialism, and the modern city is exposed in higher relief by her feminist remapping of the city through a discourse of fl nerie, which is epitomized in her singular urban travelogues such as Street Haunting and The London Scene essays. A fanatical London-adventurer herself, she assumes the persona of the fl neuse in exploring the street of modern London and especially the public sphere of the marketplace, as represented in Oxford Street Tide. Living and working in the quarter of Bloomsbury, in close proximity to the capital s famous sites of tourism, entertainment, and mass consumption, Woolf was placed at the heart of urban spectacle. In spite of the lack of critical analysis of this high-profile writer s interest in such quotidian matters as shopping, fashion and appearance, which would be informed by a hierarchy of value within literary criticism, it seems that they are inextricably intertwined with her quest into more serious-minded topics that revolve around the twin pillars of her literary project: feminism and modernism. Her essays, in particular, suggest this point in one way or another, mirroring her extraordinary susceptibility to such concerns. For Woolf, street sauntering is synonymous with an act of creative mobility, by which she plays with the notion of shifting identities, rediscovers the urban rarities and splendors, and ultimately pins them down in her literary output. By adopting the identity of a masterly rambler/observer/explorer with an omnipotent gaze, she firmly anchors herself as an active interpreter of urban modernity and viewer of its spectacle. She thus challenges the idea of public space as a male domain, which is central to the classic androcentric discourse of loitering, spectatorship and urban modernity.
