  • Recently, as the social interest increase has been focused on new renewable energy system to build-up sustainable urban planning system, the related studies have been actively conducting. As well as in other areas, the construction area, which accounts for over 40% of the total energy consumption, clearly showed this tendency. Whereas, various landscape facilities applying renewable energy equipments have been manufactured and installed, systematic study available for planning and designing is rarely found in Korea. This study is expected to contribute to the landscape planning and designing by quantifying the energy-efficient and economic advantages of the renewable energy system for landscape facilities. For this purpose, the analysis on the energy-efficiency and economic values under the scenario that the current fossil power supply for the streetlights in urban parks in Seoul, Daegu, and Incheon were replaced by photovoltaic power generation were performed through RETScreen$^{(R)}$ a clean energy simulation program based on the NASA Satellite Meteorological Data. As a result, the generated power and the economic values vary depending on the climatic features of the appointed cities. This study will be used to build up the effective decision-making in applying the clean renewable system to the plan and design of landscaping.

  • The objective of this study is to derive the appropriate perception location for changes in driving behavior of autonomous vehicles in urban road environments based on traffic safety signs. For this purpose, 32 types of signs that induce changes in driving behavior were selected from currently used traffic safety signs and classified as three types according to changes in driving behavior. Based on this, three scenarios were designed: stop, speed change, and lane change scenarios. These were used to confirm the impact on traffic flow. As a result of the analysis, it was found that each scenario needs to receive information on traffic safety signs in advance to ensure changes in traffic flow and safety. Consequently, the appropriate perception location can be used as a basis for establishing standards for delivering message sets to autonomous vehicles or revising traffic safety signs for them. In addition, this study is expected to contribute to the establishment of safe and efficient driving strategies on urban roads as autonomous vehicles are introduced in the future.

  • District is not only a place that every urban activities are executing but also basic unit that are forming urban structure. Therefore this study tried to make land use-transportation model through analyzing $CO_2$ exhausting volumes by assuming 270 scenarios those are postulated various land use patterns and transport policies in District. As results, this study shows best District Unit Design technique is the policy that develop equally all blocks or only outer blocks and introduction of car free zone to inner 2 way streets. Most important policy in order to reduce $CO_2$ gas is to introduce Transportation Demand Management especially in case of hyper high density development. In case of low density development, policy of car free streets in 2 ways roads is efficiency for reducing $CO_2$ gas. And suggested land use-transportation model will be good for choosing alternatives those are able to reduce $CO_2$ in District Unit.

  • This paper describes the earthquake risk evaluation of 15 sites of architectural heritages, which are considered ground conditions of sites in Seoul. In order to acquire the input data of earthquake response analysis, surface wave exploration was performed at the site. Earthquake response analysis and 3D earthquake safety evaluation were carried out under the base of scenario earthquakes. Ground displacements of areas, which are located on architectural heritages, are showed about 0.5 mm ~ 9.7 mm, and it was analyzed to small affected by earthquakes. In case of Naksungdae three-story stone pagoda, ground displacement is similar to the others. However, displacement of three-story stone pagoda with granite is 30 mm on the top, because the greatest occurrence of that is caused by stress release at seismic wave effect.

  • In recent years, urbanization has been a hot issues in watershed management due to increased pollutant loads from impervious urban areas. The Soil and Water Assessment Tool (SWAT) model has been widely used in hydrology and water quality studies at watershed scale. However, the SWAT has limitations in simulating water flows between HRUs and hydrological effects of LID practices. The Storm Water Management Model (SWMM) has LID capabilities, but it does not simulate non-urban areas, especially agricultural areas. In this study, a SWAT-SWMM coupled model was developed to evaluate effects of LID practices on hydrology and water quality at mixed-landuse watersheds. This coupled SWAT-SWMM was evaluated by comparing calibrated flow with and without coupled SWAT-SWMM. As a result of this study, the $R^2$ and NSE values with SWAT are 0.951 and 0.937 for calibration period, and 0.882 and 0.875 for validation period, respectively. the $R^2$ and NSE values with SWAT-SWMM are 0.877 and 0.880 for validation period. Out of four LID scenarios simulated by SWAT-SWMM model, the green roof scenario was found to be most effective which reduces about 25% of rainfall-runoff flows.

  • Polycystic Ovarian Syndrome (PCOS) has now become more common in occurrence in women of reproductive age, particularly in urban and semi-urban population in India. So there is a need to investigate this phenomenon taking into consideration various aspects including possible treatment method to ameliorate/eradicate this syndrome, which has far reaching socio-economic impact and consequences, in view of infertility and irregular menstrual cycles frequently associated with this syndrome. Homeopathy is a branch of traditional alternative medicine which is gaining popularity in India and some other developing countries, as also in some of the developed countries in Europe. With this background scenario, we have made an attempt to treat cases of confirmed PCOS and tried to compare the relative efficacy of two potentized homeopathic drugs, namely, Lycopodium clavatum (Lyco) and Calcarea carbonica (Calc), most frequently used by homeopathic practitioners, selecting different potencies of the drugs, depending on condition/guiding symptom(s) of the patients. While the main focus was pointed on total/partial removal of cysts, data pertaining to different PCOS associated symptoms were also compared for the sake of learning if the two drugs had differential effects on these symptoms also. The study parameters in this investigation included: regularity/irregularity of menstrual cycle, presence/absence of acne, hirsutism, male type alopecia, acanthosis nigricans, body/mass index (BMI) and waist-hip ratio. Overall results provided clear evidences that both these homeopathic drugs had great ameliorating effects on PCOS, although each drug had a little different effect in respect of the individual parameters of this study.

  • This study deals with the small-scale roundabout. The purpose of this study is to analyze the average delay of vehicle in roundabout, and suggest the efficient planning and design standard. In pursuing the above, this study gives particular attentions to analyzing the average delay time according to the inscribed circle diameter, speed of circulatory roadway lane and traffic volume. The operational efficiencies of 96 scenarios (3 sizes of inscribed circle diameter ${\times}$ 4 types of circulatory roadway speed ${\times}$ traffic volume) are analyzed using VISSIM (Verkehr In $St{\ddot{a}}dten$-SIMulationsmodell). The main results are as follows. First, the optimal design speed of small-scale roundabout are derived from the above scenario analysis. Second, the traffic volume of LOS D is estimated to be 2,180-2,740pcph. Third, the traffic volume of LOS F that is required to improve is above 2.780pcph. The results might be expected to give some implications to providing the countermeasures for the operational efficiency of roundabout.

  • With the development of technology, driving simulators have been used in various ways. In driving simulator experiments, scenario creation is essential to increase fidelity, achieve research aims, and provide an immersive experience to the driver. However, challenges remain when creating realistic scenarios, such as developing a database and the execution of scenarios in real-time. Therefore, to create realistic scenarios, it is necessary to acquire real-time data. This study intends to develop a method of acquiring real-time weather and traffic speed information for actual, specific roads. To this end, this study suggests the concatenator for dynamic data obtained from Arduino sensors and public open APIs. Field tests are then performed on actual roads to evaluate the performance of the proposed solution. Such results may give meaningful information for driving simulator studies and for creating realistic scenarios.
