The purpose of this study was to ascertain the bonding durability of self-etching dentin bonding agents to dentin by means of shear bonding strength. Several acid-etching dentin bonding system (ESPE Z100) and self-etching dentin bonding systems (DEN-FIL, GRADIA DIRET) were used. The occlusion surface of human molars were ground flat to expose dentin and treated with the etch bonding system according to manufactures instruction and followed by composite resin application. After 24hours of storage at 37$^{\circ}C$, the shear bonding strength of the specimens was measured in a universal testing machine with a 1mm/min crosshead speed. An one-way analysis of variance and the scheffe test were performed to identify significant differences (p<0.05). The bonded interfacial surfaces and treated dentin surfaces were examined using a SEM. Through the analysis of shear bond strength data and micro-structures of dentin-resin interfaces, following results are obtained. In dentin group, the shear bond strength of DEN-FIL showed statistical superiority in comparison to the other groups and followed by ESPE Z100 and GRADIA DIRECT (p<0.05).
In this study, We tried to find out the fracture strength of zirconia coping all ceramic crown and collarless porcelain fused gold alloy crown as the compared group. Each of the collarless porcelain fused gold crown and zirconia all ceramic crown has been produced specimen 10 each. And after pasting them on the steel jig, it had load given at porcelain incisal edge by 130$^{\circ}$ and measured fracture strength by Universal Testing Machine and then We have results from that. 1. The average value of fracture strength suggested 950.49 N at collarless porcelain fused gold alloy crown, 656.81 N at zirconia coping all ceramic crown. 2. Fractured pattern showed that the whole of labial part was exposed in collarless porcelain fused gold crown, but porcelain of margin part did not show fracture in advance. In the practice, the concern that collarless might cause fracture strength to be weaken does not matter, we concluded zirconia all ceramic crown made fracture that only a part of labial porcelain was fractured. The combination of zirconia all ceramic crown and turned out to be excellent.
Highly conductive bipolar plate for polymer electrolyte membrane fuel cell (PEMFC) was prepared using phenol novolac-type epoxy/graphite powder (GP)/carbon fiber filament (CFF) composite, and a rubber-modified epoxy resin was introduced in order to give elasticity to the bipolar plate graphite fiber (GF) was incorporated in order to improve electrical conductivity. To find out the cure condition of the mixture of novolac-type and rubber-modified epoxies, differential scanning calorimetry (DSC) was carried out and their data were introduced to Kissinger equation. And tensile and flexural tests were carried out using universal testing machine (UTM) and the surface morphology of the fractured specimen and the interfacial bonding between epoxy matrix and CFF or GF were observed by a scanning electron microscopy (SEM).
A study on the shear bonding strength between dental alloy and porcelain according to various kidns of sputtered metallic thin films was established by Ingtron universal testing machine, and the change of the elemental weight % at the surface of dental alloy was studied by E.D.S. The kind of metallic thin films were Al, Ni, In, Cr. Ti and Sn with $0.3{\mu}m$ thickness. The dental alloys were Verabond made by Aalba Dent. Co. and Degudent H manufactured by Degussa Co. The control groups were Verabond and Degudent H. The obtained results were as follows; 1. The shear bonding strength of Al plated sample was the strongest of all. 2. The shear bonding strength of Ni plated sample was stronger than that of Degudent H, Sn plated samples. 3. The shear bonding strength of Verabond was weaker than that of Al, Ni, In, Cr, plated samples. 4. After degassing, it is more weight % of Ni at the alloy surface of the Ni sputtered specimen than the Sn sputtered sample.
In this experiments, the fracture loads were measured and analysed by using of Instron universal testing machine (Model 1132). With 80 upper and lower deciduous molars that were free of dental caries. Isthmus of teeth were prepared to 1/3 and 1/4 of intercuspal width, and internal line angles with round and sharp shape, and then amalgam restoration were performed. The results of this study were as follows; 1. Resistance to fracture loads were greater with isthmus of 1/3 intercuspal width than of 1/4 intercuspal width, especially, statistically significant difference on upper and lower second deciduous molars. 2. Resistance to fracture loads were greater with rounded internal line angle than sharp internal line angle. The above results were as follows, the fracture loads had greater resistance on isthmus of 1/3 intercuspal width, and rounded internal line angle, but normal physiological occlusal forces could permit isthmus of 1/4 intercuspal width and rounded internal line angle.
The friction of orthodontic appliances is recogonized to be detrimental to tooth movement. The purpose of this study was to determine the magnitude of frictional force changes between bracket$(018'\times025'\;solt)$ and orthodontic wires(stainless steel, cobalt-chromium, and $\beta-titanium$, $017'\times0.25'$ rectangular) with time. The wire was secured in the bracket slot with a elastomeric ligature. Frictional forces were measured by universal testing machine. The following conclusions were obtained. 1. The frictional forces under dry condition were greater than those in saliva. 2. The frictional forces produced by cobalt-chromium wire were less than those generated by stainless steel and $\beta-titanium$ wire. 3. The frictional forces increased progressively with time, and the amount of increase on first two weeks was greater than on last two weeks. 4. The change of frictional force under dry condition was greater than in artificial saliva.
Objectives: This study aimed to compare the shear bond strength (SBS) of a self-adhering flowable composite (Dyad Flow) and a bulk-fill flowable composite (Smart Dentin Replacement [SDR]) to several pulp-capping materials, including MTA Plus, Dycal, Biodentine, and TheraCal. Materials and Methods: Eighty acrylic blocks with 2-mm-deep central holes that were 4 mm in diameter were prepared and divided into 2 groups (n = 40 each) according to the composite used (Dyad Flow or SDR). They were further divided into 4 sub-groups (n = 10 each) according to the pulp-capping agent used. SBS was tested using a universal testing machine at a crosshead speed of 1 mm/min. Data were analyzed using 2-way analysis of variance. A p value of < 0.05 was considered to indicate statistical significance. Results: A statistically significant difference (p = 0.040) was found between Dyad Flow and SDR in terms of bond strength to MTA Plus, Dycal, Biodentine, and TheraCal. Conclusions: Among the 8 sub-groups, the combination of TheraCal and SDR exhibited the highest SBS.
This study was executed to measure the shear bond strength of Panavia EX and Panavia 21 when the Ni-Cr-Be alloy castings were cemented to the enamel surfaces with these cements. The cast metal plates of Ni-Cr-Be alloy were sandblasted and cemented to acid etched enamel surface with Panavia EX or Panavia 21. Their shear bond strength were measured with Instron Universal Testing machine. Within the limits of this study, following conclusions were withdrawn. 1. The mean shear bond strength were 26.85.7MPa, in Panavia EX and 28.35.2MPa, in Panavia 21. 2. t-Test revealed no statistical significance between two groups(.05 level) 3. Macroscopically, bond failures were revealed compound fracture at metal and enamel interfaces, in cases of both cements, as the cement attached partly on both metal and enamel surface.
The purpose of this study was to evaluate the effects of two metal adhesive primers on the shear bond strengths of self-curing resin to Ni-Cr a]toy and the effects of 1000 thermal cycling on the durability of the bond. The two selected metal adhesive primers were Metal Primer II(G-C corp., Japan) and MR Bond(Tokuyama corp., Japan) and no treatment groups were used as control. All specimens were divided into two groups according to thermal cycling. In the group without thermal cycling, the specimens were stored in water for 24 hours. In the group with thermal cycling, the specimens were thermocycled 1000 times at temperature of $5^{\circ}C\;and\;55^{\circ}C$. Shear bond strengths were measured using the Universal testing machine(Zwick 145641, Germany) with a crosshead speed of 0.5 mm/min. The results were as follows: 1. MR Bond significantly improved the shear bond strength of resin to Ni-Cr alloy before and after thermal cycling. 2. There were no difference in the shear bond strength of resin to Ni-Cr alloy between Metal Primer II treated group and no treatment group. 3. Regardless of the type and the use of adhesive primers, there were tendency of decrease in shear bond strength with 1000 thermal cycling.
The purpose of this study was to compare the retentive force of cast half round circumferential clasps, cast round circumferential clasps and wrought wire clasps on three different depths of undercut(10G,20G.30G), and to determine the proper amount of undercut for cast round circumferential clasp. Three different lower second premolar crowns were cast and each of clasp was made. Each of clasp affixed to the different types of clasp. Their retentive forces were measured with universal testing machine. The results were as follows : 1. When the depth of undercut was same, the greatest retentive force was exerted by cast half round circumferential clasp, followed by cast round - 33 - circumferential clasp and wrought wire clasp. 2. The degree of variation amount of retentive force according to depth of undercut was greatest for cast round circumferential clasp. 3. Not only elastic deformation but also permanent deformation of the retentive arm was observed after insertion and removal of the clasp. The results of this study show that the retentive force of cast round circumferential clasp falls between those of cast half round circumferential clasp and wrought wire clasp, and suggest that a 20G undercut is suitable for ensuring an appropriate degree of the retentive force.
