  • A number of recent studies have contributed to an increased understanding of how and why workers feel bound to their unions. However, by now there has been limited theoretical works on the various forms that union membership can take. Thus, the goal of this study is to develop the types of union membership. To develop the types of union membership, I used the ideological and instrumentalitic concepts. The types of union membership are identified as follows: Positive free agents (${\Leftrightarrow}$ Negative free agents) have low levels of both positive (negative) instrumentality and positive (negative) ideology. If positive (negative) instrumentality is high and positive (negative) ideology low, this group may be labeled Instrumentals (${\Leftrightarrow}$Disgruntled). Expressives (${\Leftrightarrow}$Antagonizers) have low levels of positive (negative) union instrumentality and high levels of positive (negative) ideology. Those who have high levels of both positive (negative) ideology and positive (negative) instrumentality have been called Identifiers (${\Leftrightarrow}$Opponents). Variables related to union instrumentality, and union ideology were investigated: (1) the personal characteristics of individual members, (2) the employing organization, (3) the union characteristics, (4) the economic environment, (5) the labor relations climate.

  • National Union Catalog presupposes an information infrastructure which permits users to identify and locate materials of all the domestic libraries and to share materials among libraries. Recently, there have been developed national union catalog projects in many countries using Z39.50 protocol implementation. In Korea, multi-union catalogs based on the types of libraries, i.e., public, academic, and special libraries, have been constructed separately. The virtual national union catalog which is a decentralized electronically accessible catalog unified by linking the databases of several institutions using Z39.50 is preferable to a union catalog implemented by a single centralized database. In this paper, hybrid union catalog is suggested with mixtures of centralized union catalogs and Z39.50-based distributed search systems for the development of a national union catalog. It is also suggested that the roles of a national library and centers for union catalog, and relationships between two types of institution for making sound ground for implementing the virtual Korean union catalog.

  • The main aim of this paper is to discuss two different types of soft hemirings, soft intersection and soft union. We discuss applications and results related to soft intersection hemirings or soft intersection k-ideals and soft union hemirings or soft union k-ideals. The deep concept of k-closure, intersection and union of soft sets, ∧-product and ∨-product among soft sets, upper 𝛽-inclusion and lower 𝛽-inclusion of soft sets is discussed here. Many applications related to soft intersection-union sum and soft intersection-union product of sets are investigated in this paper. We characterize k-hemiregular hemirings by the soft intersection k-ideals and soft union k-ideals.

  • Induction and coinduction are well-established proof principles, which are widely used in mathematics and computer science. In particular, induction is taught in most undergraduate programs and well understood in the field of computer science. In contrast, coinduction is not as widespread or well understood as induction. In this paper, we introduce coinduction by defining a subtype system for recursive and union types and proving the transitivity property of the system. This paper will help to promote familiarity with coinduction and provides a basis for a subtype system for recursive types with other advanced type constructors and connectives.

  • This study was conducted to suggest the best union fabric to combine with cellulose fiber for summer and in-between seasons. Four types of union fabric, viz. silk/flax, silk/cotton, rayon/flax and rayon/cotton, were used as sample fabrics after weaving them in a local textile factory. The air permeability, moisture regain, water absorption, water vapor permeability and thermal insulation of the samples were tested. The results are as follows. The rayon/flax union fabric is the most suitable for summer clothes due to its having the best comfort property of air and water vapor permeability, and moisture and water absorption. For in-between seasons, it is recommended to use the silk/cotton union fabric because of its good thermal insulation properties.

  • In this paper, we have proposed Auto-TUS, an automatic transcription module of three union symbols-hyphen, dash and tilde (‘’, ‘―’, ‘∼’)-using their linguistic contexts. Few previous studies have discussed the problems of ambiguities in transcribing symbols into Korean alphabetic letters. We have classified six different reading formulae of the union symbols, analyzed the left and right contexts of the symbols, and investigated selection rules and distributions between the symbols and their contexts. Based on these linguistic features, 86 stereotyped patterns, 78 rules and 8 heuristics determining the types of reading formulae are suggested for Auto-TUS. This module works modularly in three steps. The pilot test was conducted with three test suites, which contains respectively 418, 987 and 1,014 clusters of words containing a union symbol. Encouraging results of 97.36%, 98.48%, 96.55% accuracy were obtained for three test suites. Our next phases are to develop a guessing routine for unknown contexts of the union symbols by using statistical information; to refine the proper nouns and terminology detecting module; and to apply Auto-TUS on a larger scale.

  • In this study, white spots appearing in carapace of imported white leg shrimp Litopenaeus vannamei were observed by macroscopic and microscopic examination. White spots due to white spot disease showed two types, white spots with a regular circular shape ranging from 0.4 mm to 1.7 mm and white spots with an irregular shape ranging from 0.05 mm to 2 mm. White spots due to other causes showed four types that appeared as crystalized materials in range of 100 ㎛ around the tegumental gland, as polygonal inorganic deposits ranging from 58 ㎛ to 188 ㎛, as Linear inorganic deposits ranging from 0.8 mm to 9 mm, as brownish spots ranging from 0.1 mm to 0.4 mm, and brownish spots containing melanin ranging from 0.1 mm to 2 mm. As a result, white spots occurred in imported white leg shrimp Litopenaeus vannamei were divide two type, due to white spot disease or other causes, for quarantine works.

  • To investigate the effectiveness of the freeze-dried allografts and fibrin glue in bone grafts, the status of new bone formation and union of the grafted bone were observed in three types of grafting bones; autogenic bone(AT), allogenic bone(AL), and allogenic bone particles mixed with fibrin glue(FG). These were transplanted into non-union fracture model of 7 adult dogs with 2cm defect made in the proximal metaphysis of both fibulae. The autogenic and allogenic grafting bones had been treated by a modified freeze-dried method. The serial radiogram were observed the repair process of grafted bones biweekly until 17 or 21 weeks after transplantation and the observation of histological aspects, tetracycline double labeling and microradiography in the grafted bones were undertaken at 17 or 21 weeks after transplantation. The incorporation of bone minerals to the non-union fracture models were accomplished in 4 of 5 cases grafted with AL and in 2 of 4 cases grafted with AT. None of 5 cases grafted with FG were incorporated. The process of new bone formation and resorption in the grafted bones were observed three types; resorption of the grafted bones after newbone formation(type A) in 4 cases, new bone formation after resorption(type B) in 2 cases and complete or incomplete resorption without new bone formation(type C) in 8 cases. The modified freeze-dried method used in this study contributed to inhibite the rejection in allogenic grafts but the union period of the grafted freeze-dried bone was more prolonged than that of fresh autografts. Fibrin glue did not contribute to induce a new bone formation ofbone grafts.

  • Human papillomavirus (HPV) type 52 is a high-risk HPV responsible for cervical cancer. HPV type 52 is common around the world and is the most common in some Asian regions. The available prophylactic HPV vaccines protect only from HPV types 16 and 18. Supplementing economical vaccines that target HPV type 52 may satisfactorily complement available prophylactic vaccines. A codon-adapted HPV 52 L1 gene was expressed in the methylotrophic yeast Hansenula polymorpha, which is used as an industrial platform for economical hepatitis B surface antigen particle production in China. We found that the recombinant proteins produced in this expression system could form virus-like particles (VLPs) with diameters of approximately 50 nm. This study suggests that the HPV 52 VLPs produced in this platform may satisfactorily complement available prophylactic vaccines in fighting against HPVs prevalent in Asia.

  • This paper aims to research the historical development of the archival systems in the Soviet Union from 1917 to the 1920's. The Russian revolution was the turning point not only for the political and social changes but for the archival administration in Russia, as it provided the new Soviet regime with the chances to reorganize the archival institutions under Bolshevik rule. However, we must not forget the fact that the Russian Archival Workers' Union had taken part in the organization of the archival systems together with the Bolshevik revolutionaries. The Soviet government intended to transform the decentralized and poorly organized archival systems in the prerevolutionary years into the centralized and bureaucratized ones. In this meaning, the decree signed be V. I. Lenin on 1 June 1918 was estimated as the real basis for the Soviet archival centralization. Lenin's archival decree of 1918 encompassed the entire national documentary legacy, which was gradually extended to all types and categories of manuscripts and archival records by successive legislation. The concept of state proprietorship of all documentary records was designated "Single State Archival Fond"(Edinyi Gosudarstvennyi arkhivnyi fond), which was renamed as "Archival Fond of the Russian Federation" after the collapse of the USSR. The independent state administrative agency, that is, "Main Administration of Archival Affairs"(Glavnoe upravlenie arkhivnym delom) was charged with the management of the entire "Single State Archival Fond". While the Soviet Union reorganized its archival systems in the twenties, the archival institutions became under the severe control of the government. For example, M. N. Pokrovskii, the well-known Marxist historian and the political leader, headed the organizational work of archives in the Soviet Union, which resulted in the exclusion of the prerevolutionary specialists from the archival field in the Soviet Union. However, the discussions over the concept of "the Archival Fond" by B. I. Anfilov helped to develop the archival theories in the USSR in the twenties. In conclusion, the Soviet Union, having emphasized the centralization of the archives, developed its archival systems from the early period, which were the basis of the systematic archival institutions in Russia.
