Criteria for Determining Working Area and Operating Cost for Long-Term Lease of Agricultural Machinery

  • Purpose: This research suggests a method of establishing criteria for working area and operating cost for a long-term lease of agricultural machinery. Methods: Eight crops were selected-three food crops and five open-field vegetables-and agricultural machines used for sowing, transplanting, and cultivation in dry-field farming were analyzed. Results: The break-even acreage for agricultural machinery under a long-term lease was found to differ by agricultural machine, ranging from 1.0 to 5.8 ha. In terms of arable land area, the break-even acreages for harvesting machinery and transplanters were 15.6 to 26.1 ha and 6.1 to 8.6 ha, respectively. The working area lessees should secure was divided into two cases: (1) 2.0 to 11.6 ha when leasing individual agricultural machines (sowing and transplanting) for a long-term period, and (2) more than 10 ha when farmers who cultivate beans, potatoes, garlic, onions, and so on lease sowing and transplanting machines as a set. When agricultural machinery was leased for a long term, the operating cost and working time were reduced by 27.6 to 74.4% and 2.5 to 21.6%, respectively, indicating considerable effect. Conclusions: A long-term lease project needs to be promoted to overcome the limitation of short-term leases of agricultural machinery. The local government should lead this project and facilitate the mechanization of dry-field farming. The department in charge of agricultural machinery lease projects needs to set the working area to cover the rate and maintenance cost for farmers who lease agricultural machinery for the long term.

  • Pure barium titanate was sintered at $1340^{\circ}C$ for 2, 4, 8, 16 hr to control their grain size. The measurements of breakdown strength and partial discharge characteristics were performed under rising AC voltage(60Hz). With increase of sintering time, the average grain size was increased and breakdown strength was slightly decreased. Partial discharge in pores was observed under high voltage, and a model of dielectric break down in barium titanate ceramics is proposed.

  • The paper focuse on the effect of a crack subjects to collaspe behabiors of statically indeterminate beams under concentrated load. Through the experiment and calculation, it was revealed that the collaspe load of statically indeterminate beams is much higher than that of statically determinate beams. The cumulative AE event counts of statically determinate beams was less than that of statically indeterminate beams, and the center notch beams sas revealed less than that of the side notch beams.

  • In this work, we reviewed AC break-down voltage characteristics in $SF_6$ Gas with spacer under nonuniform field, using the electrode construction of model spacer and simple protrusion. We cleared that breakdown voltage and surface flashover strongly depend on the position of spacer's insert.

  • This paper deals with the Safety Analysis for $CANDU^{(R)}$ 6 nuclear reactors as affected by main Heat Transport System (HTS) aging. Operational and aging related changes of the HTS throughout its lifetime may lead to restrictions in certain safety system settings and hence some restriction in performance under certain conditions. A step in confirming safe reactor operation is the tracking of relevant data and their corresponding interpretation by the use of appropriate thermal-hydraulic analytic models. Safety analyses ranging from the assessment of safety limits associated with the prevention of intermittent fuel sheath dryout for a slow Loss of Regulation (LOR) analysis and fission gas release after a fuel failure are summarized. Specifically for fission gas release, the thermal-hydraulic analysis for a fresh core and an 11 Effective Full Power Years (EFPY) aged core was summarized, leading to the most severe stagnation break sizes for the inlet feeder break and the channel failure time. Associated coolant conditions provide the input data for fuel analyses. Based on the thermal-hydraulic data, the fission product inventory under normal operating conditions may be calculated for both fresh and aged cores, and the fission gas release may be evaluated during the transient. This analysis plays a major role in determining possible radiation doses to the public after postulated accidents have occurred.

AN EXPERIMENTAL STUDY WITH SNUF AND VALIDATION OF THE MARS CODE FOR A DVI LINE BREAK LOCA IN THE APR1400

  • In order to analyze thermal hydraulic phenomena during a DVI (Direct Vessel Injection) line break LOCA (Loss-of-Coolant Accident) in the APR1400 (Advanced Power Reactor 1400 MWe), we performed experimental studies with the SNUF (Seoul National University Facility), a reduced-height and reduce-pressure integral test loop with a scaled down APR1400. We performed experiments dealing with eight test cases under varied tests. As a result of the experiment, the primary system pressure, the coolant temperature, and the occurrence time of the downcomer seal clearing were affected significantly by the thermal power in the core and the SI flow rate. The break area played a dominant role in the vent of the steam. For our analytical investigation, we used the MARS code for simulation of the experiments to validate the calculation capability of the code. The results of the analysis showed good and sufficient agreement with the results of the experiment. However, the analysis revealed a weak capability in predicting the bypass flow of the SI water toward the broken DVI line, and it was insufficient to simulate the streamline contraction in the broken side. We, hence, need to improve the MARS code.

INTEGRAL BEHAVIOR OF THE ATLAS FACILITY FOR A 3-INCH SMALL BREAK LOSS OF COOLANT ACCIDENT

  • A small-break loss of coolant accident (SB-LOCA) test with a break size equivalent to a 3-inch cold leg break of the APR1400 was carried out as the first transient integral effect test using the ATLAS (Advanced Thermal-hydraulic Test Loop for Accident Simulation). This was the first integral effect test to investigate the integral performance of the test facility and to verify its simulation capability for one of the design-basis accidents. Reasonably good thermal hydraulic data was obtained so that an integral performance of the fluid sub-systems was identified and control performance of the ATLAS was confirmed under real thermal hydraulic conditions. Based on the measured data, a post-test calculation was carried out using the best-estimate thermal hydraulic safety analysis code, MARS 3.1, and the similarity between the expected and actual data was investigated. On the whole, the post-test calculation reasonably predicts the major thermal hydraulic parameters measured during the SB-LOCA test. The obtained data will be used to enhance the simulation capability of the ATLAS and to improve an input model of the ATLAS for simulation of other target scenarios.

Study on Characteristics of Subchannel Analysis Code at Low Flow Steam Line Break Condition

  • The subchannel analysis was performed to verify the behavior of hot channel characteristics and obtain the information to support the core thermal-hydraulic behavior at post-trip steam line break with low flow condition. During this postulated accident, buoyancy-induced cross flow occurs, and the coupled nuclear and thermal-hydraulic interactions become important. The code predictions with TORC are in good agreement with the test data. Under such conditions, the mass flow increase in the hot channel by buoyancy-induced cross flow depends on the parameter $GR^{*}\;/\;Re^2$, and buoyancy effect becomes more noticeable as $GR^{*}\;/\;Re^2$ increases.

어류혈구세포에 있어서 Single Cell Gel Electrophoresis를 응용한 DNA Single Strand Breack의 측정 (Application of Single Cell Gel Electrophoresis for Detection of DNA Single Strand Breaks in DNA of Fish Blood Cell)

  • Single-cell gel electrophoresis (comet assay) was used to detect DNA single strand break in blood cells from several marine fish species. Three fish species were collected from Georgia coastal area. Mummichog, Fundulus heteroclitus showed higher DNA damage than sea bass, Lateolabrax japonicus and trout, Oncorhynchus masou masou under the same experimental conditions. Mummichogs had more alkaline-labile sites on their DNA than other fish species. The comet assay with mummichog blood cells at pH 12.5 showed a dose-response curve with the increasing concentrations of hydrogen peroxide. While the isolated leucocytes showed no increase of DNA damage after in vitro exposure to 2-methyl-1,4-naphthoquinone (MNQ), erythrocytes showed dose-dependent DNA damage. These results indicate that the comet assay can be applied successfully as a bioassay using erythrocyte for environmental monitoring.
