In order to trace the lateral-torsional post-bucking behaviors of thin-walled space frames with non-symmetric cross sections, a geometrically non-linear finite element formulation is presented by applying incremental equilibrium equations based on the updated Lagrangian formulation and introducing Vlasov's assumption. The improved displacement field for non-symmetric thin-walled cross sections is introduced based on inclusion of second order terms of finite rotations, and the potential energy corresponding to the semitangential rotations and moments is consistently derived. For finite element analysis, tangent stiffness matrices of thin-walled space frame element are derived by using the Hermition polynomials as shape functions. A co-rotational formulation in order to evaluate the unbalanced loads is presented by separating the rigid body rotations and pure deformations from incremental displacements and evaluating the updated direction cosines and incremental member forces.
In order to trace the lateral post-buckling behaviors of thin-wafled space frames, a geometrically nonlinear finite element formulation is presented by applying incremental equilibrium equations based on the updated Lagrangian formulation and introducing Vlasov's assumption. The improved displacement field for symmetric thin-walled cross sections is introduced based on inclusion of second order terms of finite rotations, and the potential energy corresponding to the semitangential rotations and moments is consistently derived. For finite element analysis, tangent stiffness matrices of the thinwalled space frame element with 7 degrees of freedom including the restrained warping for each node are derived by using the Hermition polynomials as shape functions. A co-rotational formulation in order to evaluate the unbalanced loads is presented by separating the rigid body rotations and pure deformations from incremental displacements and evaluating the updated direction cosines of the frame element due to rigid body rotations and incremental member forces from pure deformations. Finite element solutions for the spatial buckling and post-buckling analysis of thin-walled space frames are presented and compared with available solutions and other researcher's results.
In general, flat plate systems have been used as a gravity load resisting system (GLRS) in building. Thus, this system should be constructed with lateral force resisting system (LFRS) such as shear walls and brace frames. GLRS should retain the ability to undergo the lateral drift associated with the LFRS without loss of gravity load carrying capacity. And flat plate system can be designed LFRS as ordinary moment frame with the special details. Thus, flat plate system designed as GLRS or LFRS should be considered internal forces (e.g., unbalanced moments) and lateral deformation generated in vicinity of slab joints render the system more susceptible to punching shear. ACI 318 (2005) allows the direct design method, equivalent frame method under gravity loads and allows the finite-element models, effective beam width models, and equivalent frame models under lateral loads. These analysis methods can produce widely different result, and each has advantage and disadvantages. Thus, it is sometimes difficult for a designer to select an appropriate analysis method and interpret the results for design purposes. This study is to help designer selecting analysis method for flat plate system and to verify practicality of the modified equivalent frame method under lateral loads. This study compared internal force and drift obtained from frame methods with those obtained from finite element method under gravity and lateral loads. For this purposes, 7 story building is considered. Also, the accuracy of these models is verified by comparing analysis results using frame methods with published experimental results of NRC slab.
Effective beam width model(EBWM) has been used for analysis of post-tensioned(PT) flat plate slab frames under lateral loads. The accuracy of this model in predicting lateral drifts and unbalanced moments strongly depends on the estimated effective stiffness of PT flat plate slabs. As moments on the slab due to lateral loads increases, cracks occur which leads to stiffness reduction in slabs. For analyzing PT flat plate slab structure under lateral loads with good precision, reduction in slab stiffness has to be accurately estimated for EBWM. For this purpose, this study collected test results of PT flat plate system conducted by former researches. And this study reduced the width of slab so that the stiffness of the EBWM converged into the lateral stiffness of each test specimens by trial and error. By conducting nonlinear regression analysis using the stiffness ratio of the reduced width of slab to the effective width of EBWM with respect to the level of slab moments, an equation for calculating stiffness reduction factor for slab is proposed. For verifying the accuracy of the proposed equation, this study compared with the test result of the PT flat plate frame. It is shown that the EBWM with the proposed equation predicts the actual stiffness of the PT specimen which varied according to the level of applied moment.

Due to the increasing fiscal burden and structural unbalanced premium/benefit costs, the new reform on the government employees pension system (GEPS) was considered even after the recent reform in 2009. This article examines the various effects of recent amendment in 2015 on GEPS using a simple probabilistic model. We consider effects on both sides, the pensioners and the government. First of all, the expected net value of pension payment for an individual employee was calculated based on the supposed survival distribution. The fairness of individual pension holders was compared using the benefit-cost ratio. Secondly, from pension system users' point of view, the default probability and the government subsidy were examined by Monte-carlo simulation. From the simulation experiment, we could see that the 2015 reform plan indeed reduces the default probability and the size of the fiscal burden of government by increasing the premium and decreasing the benefit. However, the size of the effect is not very standout at this moment because the number of new employees who are fully subject to the reform will be much smaller than the number of previous employees for a while. Thus, the effect of the reform is expected to appear in a slow manner.

This study presents basic data on how to secure stability by analyzing the change in tensile force of steel rod and the inclination characteristics of PSC BOX in the "Temporary fixation system using internal prestressing tendon", which is mainly applied to construction of superstructures by FCM. To date, it has been difficult to confirm the changes in tension force of the steel rod and the inclination of the PSC BOX because the steel rod was installed vertically inside the pier and the PSC BOX. Therefore, measurement of the change in length of the steel rod and the displacement of PSC BOX were performed using a micro-measured FBG sensor. Comparisons of the calculated tensile force and the residual tensile force of the steel rod revealed that the safety factor decreased in all bridges. The cause was mainly identified to be the loss of tensile force in fixation~1segment, and countermeasures are suggested. The analysis of the inclination characteristics showed that the inclination increased with the segment progresses even in bridges with sufficient safety factor, and the difference before and after the segment was confirmed. In addition, the increase in inclination was related to the loss of tension force in the steel rod, and the stress on the opposite sides of the inclination was further reduced. It is believed that upward tensile force is generated in the steel rod on the opposite side of the inclined side due to the unbalanced moment, causing the difference in stress of the steel rod between the two sides.

Generally most sluice gates are closed and opened by a mechanical winch, a winch using an oil-pressure, or a winch mixing both. Because of their size and structure, they should be safely operated with more than two pulling devices helping each other. At the moment of their opening and closing, there usually occur some additional loads to the structure which cannot be exactly measurable at the stage of designing. Such additional loads can cause the sluice gate to be unbalanced and make it hard to open and close the gate, and by also overloading a winch, they can inflict a significant damage to the safety of the sluice gate. This paper explains a FDC(Force-Displacement Control) system which simultaneously considered the oil-pressure and displacement in order to evenly distribute the force and make a winch balanced at the opening and closing motion. This FDC system was implemented by means of the PID(Proportional Integral Derivative) function of XG 5000 program. It was experimented on a model of the sluice gate winch with the hydraulic oil pressure cylinder. The experiments showed that the developed FDC system made the winch of hydraulic oil pressure cylinder open and close cooperatively in spite of various external loads. Therefore the FDC system is proven effective when it is applied to a winch of sluice gate.
In this investigation, results of laboratory tests on four reinforced concrete flat plate interior connections with elongated rectangular column support which has been used widely in tall residential buildings are presented. The purpose of this study is to evaluate an effect of column aspect ratio (${\beta}_c={c_1}/{c_2}$=side length ratio of column section in the direction of lateral loading $(c_1)$ to the direction of perpendicular to $c_1$) on the hysteretic behavior under earthquake type loading. The aspect ratio of column section was taken as $0.5{\sim}3\;(c_1/c_2=1/2,\;1/1,\;2/1,\;3/1)$ and the column perimeter was held constant at 1200mm in order to achieve nominal vertical shear strength $(V_c)$ uniformly. Other design parameters such as flexural reinforcement ratio $(\rho)$ of the slab and concrete strength$(f_{ck})$ was kept constant as ${\rho}=1.0%$ and $f_{ck}=40MPa$, respectively. Gravity shear load $(V_g)$ was applied by 30 percent of nominal vertical shear strength $(0.3V_o)$ of the specimen. Experimental observations on punching failure pattern, peak lateral-load and story drift ratio at punching failure, stiffness degradation and energy dissipation in the hysteresis loop, and steel and concrete strain distributions near the column support were examined and discussed in accordance with different column aspect ratio. Eccentric shear stress model of ACI 318-05 was evaluated with experimental results. A fraction of transferring moment by shear and flexure in the design code was analyzed based on the test results.
