Debris removal efficiency depend on different ultrasonic irrigation protocols (초음파 세정 프로토콜에 따른 근관 내 잔사 제거의 효율성 비교)

  • Purpose: The purpose of this study is comparing the efficiency of debris removal of passive ultrasonic irrigation depend on different protocols. Materials and Methods: Forty-eight mandibular premolars were randomly divided into 2 groups depend on vibration power (Weak and Strong, n = 24). And then two groups were subdivided into 3 groups depend on the number of times that PUI used (1, 2 and 3, n = 8). After standardization, teeth were split into two halves. On the wall of one half of root canal, three depressions were cut at 1, 3 and 5 mm from the apex and in the same way two depressions were cut on the other half of root canal at 2, 4 mm from the apex. Each depression was filled with mixture of dentine and NaOCl. After irrigation, images of the root canal wall were taken, and then the amount of remaining dentine debris was evaluated. Results: There was no significant difference between weak and strong power of vibration groups. Weak vibration groups did not show significant difference depend on the different number of times PUI used. But in the strong vibration groups, twice and three times used groups show better removal efficiency. Conclusion: The removal efficiency of dentine debris is not significantly different depend on the power of vibration. And multiple use of PUI could have better irrigating effects at the apical third area in the strong vibration group.

Material Characteristics, Deterioration Evaluation and Crack Depth Estimation for Mulgyeseowon Stele in Changnyeong, Korea (창녕 물계서원 원정비의 재질특성 및 손상도 평가와 균열심도 측정)

  • To measure the depth and extension on the surface cracks of the stone monument, ultrasonic pulse velocity targeted at the Mulgyeseowon Stele in Changnyeong was used in this research. Additionally, to establish a long-term countermeasure of management and conservation for this stele, we have investigated the material properties and damage on it and have conducted a precise diagnosis by a variety of non-destructive techniques. Our research has revealed that stones of the stele are composed mainly of three rock types according to the parts of it, alkali-feldspar granite, gabbro and diorite. The result of the deterioration evaluation has occurred that cracks, which are observed from every direction in the body of the stele, are the significant factors to reduce structural stability. The ultrasonic velocity for an evaluation on the properties of the stele has revealed that the speed was high in the order of body, pedestal and crown. Furthermore, to understand the present condition and occurrences of the cracks which have measured in many different forms on the stele quantitatively, we have estimated from 0.6 to 24.1cm deep of the cracks by To-Tc method using ultrasonic velocity.

Structural and Piezoelectric Properties of MnO2-Doped PZT-PSN Ceramics for Ultrasonic Vibrator (초음파 진동자용 MnO2가 Doping된 PZT-PSN 세라믹스의 구조 및 압전 특성)

  • For use in ultrasonic actuators, we investigated the structural and piezoelectric properties of $(1\;-\;x)Pb(Zr_{0.515}Ti_{0.485})O_3$ - $xPb(Sb_{1/2}Nb_{1/2})O_3$ + 0.5 wt% $MnO_2$ [(1 - x)PZT - xPSN + $MnO_2$] ceramics with a variation of x (x = 0.02, 0.04, 0.06, 0.08). All the ceramics, which were sintered at $1250^{\circ}C$ for 2 h, showed a typical perovskite structure, implying that they were well synthesized. A homogeneous micro structure was also developed for the specimens, and their average grain size was slightly decreased to $1.3{\mu}m$ by increasing x to 0.8. Moreover, a second phase with a pyrochlore structure appeared when x was above 0.06, which resulted in the deterioration of their piezoelectric properties. However, the 0.96PZT-0.04PSN+$MnO_2$ ceramics, which corresponds with a morphotropic phase boundary (MPB) composition in the (1 - x)PZT - xPSN + $MnO_2$ system, exhibited good piezoelectric properties: a piezoelectric constant ($d_{33}$) of 325 pC/N, an electromechanical coupling factor ($k_p$) of 70.8%, and a mechanical quality factor ($Q_m$) of 1779. The specimens with a relatively high curie temperature ($T_c$) of $305^{\circ}C$ also showed a significantly high dielectric constant (${\varepsilon}_r$) value of 1109. Therefore, the 0.96PZT - 0.04PSN + $MnO_2$ ceramics are suitable for use in ultrasonic vibrators.

  • 이종재료 접합재의 연구개발(R&D)이나 품질보증(QA)분야에서 최적 접합조건의 신속한 결정과 사용중 접합재의 접합강도에 결정적으로 영향을 미치는 접합계면의 박리 미접합부등의 비파괴진단 평가기법에 적극 활용되고 있는 초음파비파괴평가(UNDE)기법의 주된 특징과 적용한계, 향후 연구되어야할 과제등을 최근의 특징적인 연구경향과 적용예를 중심으로 소개하고자 한다. 본고(本稿)에서 기술하는 초음파비파괴평가기법은 부분적으로는 기술의 안정화단계에 까지 상당히 접근하여, 현재 국내 반도체산업의 품질보증분야에서는 접합재료 접합계면의 비파괴적해석에 그 유용성이 어느정도 확인되고 있으나 정량적비파괴평가(QNDE)와 검사시스템의 꽃이라 불리는 전문가시스템화에의 접근에는 아직 해결되어야할 문제가 많다. 따라서, 저자들은 앞으로 접합재료 접합계면의 비파괴적해석에 관련한 연구사례와 결과를 정량적비파괴평가의 중요성과 방향성에 초점을 두고 본학회지를 통하여 계속 연재할 계획이다.

  • Acoustic microscopy has attracted much interest recently as potential nondestructive evaluation technique for detecting and sizing defects of surface and sub-surface. Also acoustic emission testing method has been developed for detecting microcracks which is more than 30${\mu}m$ in length quantitatively on ceramics. In the present paper, acoustic emission during the four point bending test in hot-pressed sintered $Si_3N_4$ specimen which was stressed by thermal shock, has been measured by high sensitive sensing system. The surface and sub-surface cracks were detected by scanning acoustic micrscope of 800 MHz and conventional ultrasonic testing in C-scope image. The purpose was to investigate the location and size of cracks by SAM and AE technique, whose experimental data demonstrate good for detecting microcracks.

  • In this paper, ultrsonic detection properties at a premolde joint utilized in a 23kV cables are studied. In a experiment a artificial defect within a joint and a measuring system are builded for generating discharges, gathering data about a detection properties, respectively. The experiment results show that one point detection is not allowed for monitoring a global status of a joint discharges and a detection sensitivity is less than 100pC. And also the attenuation and wave speed at the material of joint insulator are obtained.

  • 최근 많은 승객을 수공하는 대중 교통시스템의 안전에 대한 중요성이 더욱 대두되고 있으며, 고속화된 철도차량 또한 이를 피해갈 수 없다. 현재 철도차량의 사고 방지를 위해 많은 연구가 이루어 지고 있으며, 차량기지의 검수설비 및 검수시스템이 자동화되어 많이 발전되었다. 그 중 차축 초음파 탐상은 각 차량기지에 설치된 A-Scan 초음파 방식과 Phased Array 초음파 방식의 두가지 방식의 장비를 이용하여 차축 초음파 탐상이 이루어 지고 있다. 본 논문에서는 초음파 방식 중 철도차량 차축 결함 검출을 위한 A-Scan 탐상 방식과 Phased Array 탐상방식에 대하여 비교 분석하였다.

  • 최근 많은 사람들이 자전거 및 전동 스쿠터 등을 이용한 여가활동이 확산되고 있는 실정이다. 그러나 이러한 상황에 대비해 발생되는 관련 사고가 한해 평균 1.5만건 이상으로 지속적으로 증가하고 있다. 특히 사고와 관련해 전방 부주의로 일어나는 사고 보다는 측면 및 후방에서의 장애물을 인지하지 못해 발생하는 사고가 60%나 된다고 한다. 본 프로젝트는 이러한 현상의 감소에 일조하기 위해 안전에 필수인 헬멧에 스마트 센서를 장착해 전, 측, 후방을 사전에 감지하고 이를 사용자에게 알릴 수 있는 스마트 안전 헬멧에 관한 내용을 다루고 있다.

Analysis of the residual strengths and failure mechanisms in laminated composites under impact loading

  • In this paper, we proposed the two-parameter model for predicting the residual strength in CFRP laminated composites subjected to high velocity impact and developed and formulated it based upon Cparino's by using the ratio of impact and the normalized residual strength. Critical indentation was obtained by the statical indentation tests. Impact tests were carried out through air-gun type impact equipment with the velocities varied 30-100m/sec. Projectiles were steel balls with 5 and 7mm in diameter. Test material was carbon/epoxy. The specimens were composed of [ .+-. 45 .deg. /0 .deg. /90 .deg. ]$\_$2/ and [ .+-. 45 .deg. ]$\_$4/stacking sequences and had 0.75$\^$T/*0.26$\^$W/*100$\^$L/(mm) dimension. Results from the proposed model were in good agreement with the test data. And failure mechanism due to high velocity impact is given here to examine the initation and deveolpment of damage by fractography and ultrasonic image system. The effects of the 0 .deg. -direction ply position and the amount to damage area on the residual strength are considered here.

  • This study is for stabilization of the water balance of the closed cooling water system. The pipe network analysis program is used for the water balance review, and the resistance factor correction is performed through the field measurement with the ultrasonic flowmeter to improve the reliability of the pipe network software. Based on this, it is aimed to derive optimal driving method through various case simulations.
