This paper presents an UHF(Ultra High Frequency) band small cavity structured RFID(Radio Frequency Identification) tag antenna with a long reading range, designed to apply on metal cart or pallet for auto-parts logistics. The size of tag antennas is $140{\times}60{\times}10mm^3$, attached on a exporting metal cart, and it can give the information of inventory and logistics of carts. By collecting the exported carts and increasing the recovery rate of missing carts or pallets, the paid import tax can be refunded when the carts are returned back to the manufacture. The tag antenna was equipped with a cover to prevent damage, and the dielectric constant of the cover is considered for the simulation. The reading range of the tag antenna is 12 m using LP(Linear Polarization), 10 m with CP(Circular Polarization) reader antennas. This 920 MHz UHF RFID cavity tag ensures the long reading distance of the antenna regardless of the material of the object where it is attached.

This paper presents a modem chip design for high-speed wireless communications. Among the high-speed communication technologies, we design the UWB (Ultra-Wideband) modem SoC (System-on-Chip) Chip based on a MB-OFDM scheme which uses wide frequency band and gives low frequency interference to other communication services. The baseband system of the modem SoC chip is designed according to the standard document published by WiMedia. The SoC chip consists of FFT/IFFT (Fast Fourier Transform/Inverse Fast Fourier Transform), transmitter, receiver, symbol synchronizer, frequency offset estimator, Viterbi decoder, and other receiving parts. The chip is designed using 90nm CMOS (Complementary Metal-Oxide-Semiconductor) procedure. The chip size is about 5mm x 5mm and was fab-out in July 20th, 2009.

This paper presents the design of a 920 MHz ultra-high frequency(UHF) band radio frequency identification(RFID) conductive fabric tag antenna. The resistance values of four different conductive fabrics are measured, and the conductivities of the fabrics are calculated. The fabric with the best conductivity is selected, and the best conductivity of the fabric is used to simulate the fabric tag antenna design. The fabric UHF RFID tag antenna with a T-Matching structure and name-tag size of $80{\times}40mm$ is simulated and designed. The simulated and measured results are compared, and a laundry test is performed. The reading range of the fabric tag antenna is about 2 m. This fabric tag can be easily applied to an entrance control system as it can be attached to other fabrics and cloths.
With the advent of ubiquitous age, the high quality dielectric materials have been required for the wireless communications available to the millimeterwave as well as microwave frequencies. The utilizable region for the frequency has been expanding to the millimeter-wave region because of the shortage of radio frequency (RF) resources. These high frequencies would be expected for ultra high speed LAN, ETS and car anti-collision system on the intelligent transport system (ITS) and so on. Silicates are good candidates for microwave/millimeterwave dielectrics, because of their low dielectric constant ${\epsilon}_r$ and high quality factor (High Q). Forsterite ($Mg_2SiO_4$) is one of the silicates with low ${\epsilon}_r$ of 6.8 and Q f of 240000 GHz. In this paper, we reviewed following three categories for synthesis of forsterite: (1) Synthesis of high Q forsterite (2) Adjust the temperature coefficient of resonant frequency $TC_f$ (3) Diffusion of $SiO_{4^-}$ and Mg-ions on the formation of forsterite.
In high field (> 3 T) MR imaging, the magnetic field inhomogeneity in the target object increases due to the nonuniform electro-magnetic characteristics and relatively high Larmor frequency. Especially in the body imaging, the effect causes more serious problems resulting in locally high SAR(Specific Absorption Ratio). In this paper, we propose an optimized parallel-transmission RF coil element structure and show the utility of the coil by FDTD simulations to overcome the unwanted effects. Three types of TX coil elements are tested to maximize the efficiency and their driving patterns(amplitude and phase) optimized to have adequate field homogeneity, proper SAR level, and sufficient field strength. For the proposed coil element of 25 cm ${\times}$ 8 cm loop structure with 12 channels for a 3.0 T body coil, the 73% field non-uniformity without optimization was reduced to about 26% after optimization of driving patterns. The experimental as well as simulation results show the utility of the proposed parallel driving scheme is clinically useful for (ultra) high field MRI.

In this study, to evaluate the High Altitude Electromagnetic Pulse(HEMP) protection performance of UHPC/CNT composites by the content of Carbon nanotubes(CNTs), Electromagnetic Shielding Effectiveness(SE) test was performed based on MIL-STD-188-125-1. And the results were verified by applying the Antenna theory. In the case of UHPC with a thickness of 200 mm mixed with 1 % CNT of cement weight, the SE was 28.98 dB at 10 kHz and 45.94 dB at 1 GHz. Then the Scabbing limit thickness for bullet proof was computed based on the result of compressive strength test which was 170 MPa, and it was examined whether it satisfied the HEMP protection criteria. As a result, the required HEMP shielding criteria were satisfied in all frequency ranges as well as the scabbing limit thickness was reduced by up to 43 % compared with that of ordinary concrete.
In accordance with 4K UHD(Ultra High Definition) LCD television's higher resolution and data expansion, LCD TV had to face problems such as increasing numbers of cables and tangible skews problems among cables. The V-by-One HS is a new interface technology in the path between the image processing IC and timing control (TCON) board. The variable speed from 600 Mbps to 3.75 Gbps effectively meets the requirements of various different pixel rates. In this paper, we use the V-by-One HS interface to illustrate our proposed simulation method of frequency resonance mode and PCB design approach to model the effects of signal integrity for high speed video signal using an IBIS models.

Ultra High Definition Television (UHDTV) has attracted much attention as one of next generation broadcasting services. For the commercialization of UHD broadcasting service, standardization groups including the DVB (Digital Video Broadcasting) and the ATSC (Advanced Television Systems Committee) have decided to adopt the Orthogonal Frequency Division Multiplexing (OFDM) for signal transmission. However, when the carrier frequency is not properly synchronized at the receiver, inter-symbol interference (ISI) and inter-carrier interference (ICI) may occur. In order to avoid performance degradation resulting from ISI or ICI, receivers should synchronize the carrier frequency by using preambles and pilot symbols. However, there only few published literature dealing with the frequency offset estimation methods regarding the next generation terrestrial broadcasting. In this respect, this paper proposes a method to estimate timing and fractional frequency offset for the ATSC 3.0 system by using a preamble bootstrap symbol. The proposed detector can detect the fractional frequency offset by adding a complex conjugate product on the conventional estimator where only timing offset can be estimated.

A Ka Band 3-stage MMIC (Monolithic Microwave Integrated Circuits) LNA(Low Noise Amplifiers) has been designed. The MMIC LNA consists of two single-ended type amplication stapes and one balanced type amplication stage to satisfy noise figure characteristics and high gain and amplitude linearity. The 0.15um pHEMT has been used to provide a ultra low noise figure and high gain amplification. Series and Shunt feedback circuits were inserted to ensure high stability over frequency range of DC to 80 GHz. The size of designed MMIC LNA is 3100mm ${\times}$ 2400um(7.44$\textrm{mm}^2$). The on wafer measured noise figure of the MMIC LNA is less than 2.0 dB over frequency range of 22 GHz to 30 GHz.
This paper analyzes arc phenomena including the secondary arc's elongation in the Korean 765kV single transmission line (79km) between Sin-Ansung S/S and Sin-Gapyeong S/S, which will be installed in Korea in June 2006. In particular, both frequency independent and frequency dependent line models are compared to make our final decisions. As well, the significant simulation results are investigated by the EMTP program. As a result, there is no need of HSGS in the Korean 765kV single transmission line from both a practical and an economical point of view.
