Development of a New Car Direction Indicator System (자동차 방향전환 표시장치 개발)

  • This paper deals with a newly developed direction indicator system of a car which displays left turn and U- turn signal differently, so that the following driver can identify the Intent of the next car ahead easily. In general, when a car want to change its direction, the driver move the blinker lever below the steering wheel up or down. However, as the left turn and U-turn signal are the same, there always be the risk of rear-end collision by misinterpreting U-turn signal as left turn signal. In this paper, a new direction indicator system which differentiates left turn and U-turn signal is developed. The left turn signal is the same as before, but when a driver want to U-turn, an additional U-turn signal blinks at the rear of the car. By identifying the direction signals clearly, the developed system is expected to alleviate the risk of car accident.

  • 본 연구는 최근 물류 활동 전반에 걸쳐 무선주파수를 이용해 상품과 사물에 내장된 정보를 읽어내는 기술인 RFID(Radio Frequency IDentification) 응용기술과 유비쿼터스 환경에서의 POS(POS : point of sales) 시스템의 발전 형태를 예측하여, 향후 국내 외 대형 할인점에서 적용할 수 있는 RFID 기반의 이동형 u-POS 시스템의 핵심기술개발에 관한 연구이다. 본 연구는 RFID 기반의 이동형 u-POS 시스템의 핵심기술을 크게 H/W와 S/W로 구분하여 H/W 측면으로는 기존의 쇼핑 Cart를 대체 할 수 있는 u-Cart 개발을 목표로 하고, S/W 측면으로는 기존의 POS 시스템과 연동 할 수 있는 u-Cart의 클라이언트 어플리케이션과 매장관리 서비스 모듈의 개발을 목표로 한 내용에 대하여 발표하고자 한다.

u-Health Life Support System Trial Service (u-Health 생활지원시스템 시범 서비스)

  • Recently, there has been a rapid increase of interest in u-Health systems or instruments. The importance of testbeds has been discussed deeply also. However, beyond laboratory or ward environments, testbeds covering metropolitan area cannot be found easily. Moreover, there has been few papers which discuss the results of testbed operations for various instruments in different age groups. In this paper, the results of testbed which operated in Daegu metropolitan area are discussed and improvement directions to strengthen the competitiveness are proposed using user analysis. In particular, the results of trial services using the u-Life support instruments (medication reminder, falling safety phone, bio-patch and shirts, etc) for super aging societies in the near future are discussed.

  • In the previous study, the construction guide line of IT infra-structure for a u-City was introduced. However, it is only concentrated on the components and construction procedure for provider-oriented and technology-oriented sensor networks. In this paper the architecture and building process of demander-oriented sensor networks for sustainable u-City service are proposed. In the paper it is described (1) the enhancement methods of the procedure that can be flexibly constructed according to the scale of the project, (2) the methods that can improve the structure from the wireless sensor network such as RFID/USN to the hybrid sensor network, and (3) the consideration factors for providing the sustainable u-City service.

Study on the Notifications of WTO/SPS - Focused on Food Safety Measures - (WTO/SPS 통보문 분석 연구 - 식품안전조치를 중심으로 -)

  • According to Article 7 and Annex B of the World Trade Organization(WTO) Agreement on the Application of Sanitary and Phytosanitary(SPS) Measures, WTO members are required to notify their newly established or amended SPS measures that might affect international trade. This study analyzed SPS notifications from 1995 to 2008 to identify international trends for food safety measures. The notifications were collected from the SPS information management system and the official document distribution system of WTO. The 153 WTO members represented 37 developed countries, 84 developing countries and 32 least developed countries. The number of overall notifications was 9,820. The annual notifications increased from 198 in 1995 to 1,264 in 2008. The monthly average notifications were from 44.8 in December to 69.5 in June; however, there were no statistical differences among them. The six leading Members in terms of notification submissions were United States(U.S.), Brazil, New Zealand, Canada, European Community and Korea. Among the regular and emergency notifications, 62.7% notifications were concerned with food safety, followed by animal and plant protections. Among animal protection notifications, 54.8% were emergency situations. Of the 4,821 food safety notifications, 60.4% were from developed countries, and 39.3% were from developing countries. Measures concerning pesticide residues and risk assessments were mainly from developed countries. In contrast, 77.5% of the measures concerning zoonoses were from developing countries. However considering the numbers of developing and developed countries, the average number of measures for each country was similar. Food safety measures were mainly involved pesticide residues followed by food additives, zoonoses, new regulations, labeling. As the overall notifications, zoonosis measures were mainly emergency notifications. Measures concerning pesticide residues, food additives, zoonoses, new regulations, veterinary drugs, and labeling were submitted most often by the U.S., Korea, Albania, U.S., Australia, and U.S., respectively. Identifying the exact trends of food safety measures was complicated by a number of factors. However, WTO notifications might be useful tool in providing a general view of international trends.
