  • This study aims to analyze the types of writing tasks in Korean language and literature majors. There are many foreign students in the department of Korean language and literature. It is important to identify the type of task that is the subject of communication when conducting communication activities in an academic context. In particular, writing tasks are among the most important tasks that learners must perform. This is because most of the tasks assigned within the university curriculum are assigned to writing tasks, and evaluation is often done through learner writing. Therefore, this study investigated the types of tasks to be imposed on Korean Language and Literature majors. As a result, summary is the most frequent type of task in the department of Korean language. And in the department of Korean literature, review is most frequent type of task. The results of this study will help to prepare contents for foreign undergraduates of Korean language and literature majors.

  • The purpose of this paper is to reorganize cost adjustment factors of software development projects in estimating software development cost, and derive adjustment coefficients of application types and language types by analytical hierarchy process. We constructed a decision-making hierarchy of various criteria which determine the complexity of application types and language types, and conducted a survey on the pairwise comparison among alternatives. Finally, the cost adjustment coefficients of application types and language types were derived by analytic hierarchy process. This paper is the first study in which the analytic hierarchy process was applied to the field of estimating cost adjustment factors of software development projects.

  • This study aims to examine the relationship between mothers' attachment levels, types of verbal control, and infants' language development. The selected participants comprised 224 infants, aged 24-35 months and their mothers (224) at 25 long day care centers located Goyang-si, Gimpo-si in Gyeonggi-do, Incheon and Seoul. The major findings of this study were as follows. First, there were significant differences in mothers' attachment levels, types of verbal control, and infants' language development depending on the mothers' employment status. Secondly, to assess the relative influences of two variables which were significantly associated with infants' language development, the sociodemographic variables of mothers and infants, including infants' age and mothers' employment status, were controlled in order to conduct hierarchical regression analysis. The results revealed that imperative-oriented verbal controls, person-oriented verbal controls, and contact seeking all influenced infants' overall language development.

The types of the mothers' teaching language from the most to the least were mother-initiated statements mother-initiated questions and mother's responses to child's efforts. There were significant differences according to children's age in mothers' language. The statements initiated by mothers were directive comments informative comments supportive comments insistence comments and invitation comments in order. Mothers' responses to child's efforts were corrects/controls additional cues confirmation promotion and praise in order. In all three types of the teaching language significant promotion and praise in order. In all three types of the teaching language significant differences were found according to children's age. 2. The types of information about writing were spelling content off task/preparation mechanical conventions and conceptual meaning of writing in order. Significant differences were found according to children's age. • This study investigated differences in toddlers' language development depending on their teachers' types of interaction during reading of picture books. A pilot study identified teachers' types of interaction as instructional, non-immediate, and passive. Fifteen teachers recruited from 10 child-care centers located in Seoul and their 90 2-year-old toddlers participated in this study. Teachers read two picture books to a small group of toddlers each week for eight weeks. Data on the toddlers' receptive and expressive language, vocabulary, reading behavior, and book handling were collected and compared by their teachers' interaction type before and after teachers' 8-week reading of picture books. Results showed that teachers using the non-immediate interaction type had the most positive effects on toddlers' language development.

  • English textbooks play essential roles in the whole English education context, the analytic study on English textbooks is very important in English education tasks. The purpose of this study is to analyze the expressive functions in the middle school English textbooks on the basis of the 6th national curriculum characteristics and the textbook analysis theories. The results of the expressive language function analysis are as follow: the teaching contents designed for the expressive language functions are not varied, but concentrated on the specific teaching types, and the teaching contents for the expressive language functions are not graded according to the students' development principles stated clearly in the 6th curriculum. The results of the English textbook analysis on the basis of the expressive language function analysis show that the 6th curriculum has some problems in itself and the middle school textbooks do not conform to the 6th curriculum principles. Therefore we need to improve the teaching contents for language functions by means of developing various types of teaching language functions.

  • Integration is an important intellectual ability to reconfigure several separated elements into one unified form and to concisely and categorically express them. In this paper, we classify the types of integration in C language, and propose a systematic and incremental method to transform to better code based on the integration types. This transformation method could also be used as a means to improve integrated thinking and efficiently learn C language, and will improve development ability in C programming or other language programming.

  • This study identities various types of subjective perception of hearing-impaired persons on sign language interpretation using Q-methodology in an attempt to explore ways for developing more useful sign language interpretation services for them. For this purpose, 35 statements are extracted based on literatures and in-depth interviews and Q-classification is conducted for 20 interviewees. The results identify a common perception on the provision of sign language interpreter to frequently used institutions of hearing-impaired persons. They also derive three distinguished types of perception: seeking specialization of sign language interpretation, seeking traditional sign language interpretation services and seeking expansion and improvement of sign language interpretation services. Based on the results, the study suggests residence of sign language interpreters in public facilities, improvements of qualification system and education and training courses, specialization by field and improvement of the practice of sign language interpretation services, provision of customized services to the elderly and use of sign language interpreters reflecting the needs of the users.

  • Purpose This study investigated the impact of review language style (affective vs. cognitive) on review helpfulness and the moderating effects of the types of attractions in the relationships between the review language and its helpfulness. Design/methodology/approach This study investigates the impact of review language style (affective vs. cognitive) on review helpfulness and the moderating effects of the types of attractions in the relationships between the review language and its helpfulness. This study selected two hedonic and utilitarian attractions (Hedonic: Brandenburg Gate, Utilitarian: Peragamon Museum) located in Berlin. A total of 3,320 reviews was collected from TripAdvisor. We divided online reviews posted for these places into reviews with more affective language and with more cognitive language by using the LIWC. Then, we investigated the impact of language effect on review helpfulness across the attraction type. Findings The findings suggest that peers tend to judge more helpful toward cognitive language in attraction reviews regardless of attraction type. This study found that peers tend to perceive more helpful toward cognitive review in utilitarian attractions. Even though there was an interaction effect between review language and attraction type, in hedonic attractions, the influence of cognitive language was reduced, but still cognitive reviews would get more helpful votes.
