Purpose - The aim of this paper is to examine the newly formed a partnership of Amazon, Berkshire Hathaway (Berkshire) and JPMorgan through the lens of strategic alliance, corporate philanthropy, and corporate social responsibility. Research design, data, and methodology - This is an analytical case study that examines the existing scholarly articles in strategic alliances, corporate philanthropy, and corporate social responsibility to explain the recent strategic alliance. Results - There is a clear limitation in explaining this type of unconventional strategic alliance with exiting definitions and concepts because there is no existing study or case available today. Forming a strategic business alliance to create and operate healthcare for their domestic employees could be viewed as a social innovation that resulted from an effort to resolve a social problem, the ineffective healthcare system in the U.S., rather than focusing on business benefits and profits. Conclusions - The success or failure of this type of business alliance would certainly affect the current healthcare system of the United States and global businesses and healthcare industries in the future. However, just entering or tapping into uncharted territory by these three companies to deal with a social issue is significant enough to merit further exploration and analysis for scholars and practitioners.

Recently the business transformaton of a company is achieved through the business process re-design and total quality management concept. This paper focused on the decision of the critical measurement point(CMP) for maximizing the effectiveness of the business process reengineering. In general, the types of business processes can be classified into two kinds, serial processes with IPO(input/process/output) type and non-serial processes with workflow type. The traditional method of selecting the CMP relies on the experiences and intuitions of the process owners. We suggest a mathematical method for more objective selection of CMP by using Dynamic Programming.

The panels were fabricated to characterize the contamination of Magnesium Oxide (MgO) thin films by phosphors and ion bombardments in AC-PDPs. Forty-six inch WVGA panels of the surface and vertical discharge type were manufactured. The experiment was designed to investigate the relationship between the MgO thin films and phosphor contamination caused by ion bombardments in a plasma environment to produce a life time test. The contamination of MgO thin films by phosphors was investigated by way of X-ray photoelectron spectroscopy (XPS).

Using data from 2008 to 2017, this study analyzed the financial characteristics of offshore freight shipping companies in Korea, categorized by vessel type, and their impact on business performance. The analysis showed an upward trend in the overall debt ratio of offshore freight transport companies and differences in the financial characteristics of each vessel type as well as the major factors affecting business performance. In particular, the significant factors affecting the ROA performance of the business are the size of business and debt ratio in the LPG line; the growth rate in the bulk line; the size of business, debt ratio, and year in the general freight line; and the size of business, growth rate, entertainment expense rate, debt ratio, and year in the full container line. Therefore, each shipping company needs to recognize differences in key financial factors affecting its performance based on vessel type, implement proactive measures, and diversify its vessel portfolio.

Service blueprint is used to show the interaction between each service element at a glance and to understand the flow of the whole service centering on the customer at the stage of proposing a new service system. It was proposed in the 1980s before online business was developed. However, current services are changing in a way that provides various forms and channels, and the service blueprint seems to be not enough. To reflect this problem consciousness, we selected PSS among diversified service business models and propose a service blueprint type optimized for each business. After collecting 137 PSS cases to be used in the research, we made a business matrix and classified the cases and selected two representative cases to conduct two experiments. As a result, six types of service blueprint corresponding to the matrix could be derived: online service type, online remote support type, self rental type, online order type, traditional type, and offline support type. The validity of the proposed types of service blueprint was verified to confirm the suitability of those types.

It is necessary to assess and reap the benefits of integrating BP(Business Planning) and ISP(Information Systems Planning) in creating competitive advantage and ensuring superior financial performance. Securing and maintaining of integration between BP and ISP is frequently cited as a critical concern of IS managers. In general, however, BP and ISP are not integrated, and organization's strategy isn't supported effectively. Therefore, this paper identifies the current stage of BP-ISP integration of Korean insurance industry based on the survey and then reveals inhibiting factors and enabling factors for BP-ISP integration through the interview with IS managers of type 3 and type 4 companies. The results of this paper suggest factors to accomplish BP-ISP integration successfully for companies which are considering BP-ISP integration.

The purpose of this study is to classify of the Metal Feathered Trim in old tombs. First, Feathered Trim is 5 types, Feathered Trim I-A, Feathered Trim I-B, Feathered Trim II-A, Feathered Trim II-B, Feathered Trim II-C in according to upper part of central insert plate style. Feathered Trim I-A, I-B, II-B type was general style that was found in most of the old tombs in ancient Silla, Gaya. Feathered Trim II-A type was excavated from the only Silla tombs and II-C type was excavated from Gaya tombs. Feathered Trim I-A type was worn previous to I-B type, and II-B, C type was worn previous to II-A type. Feathered Trim 5 types was influenced by the scythe style that was 'Scythe-shaped' tail.

This study clearly defined the idea of convergence of small and medium companies and convergence types and understood convergence case of small and medium companies for each type in order to help enhancement of competitiveness of small and medium companies. The convergence type of small and medium companies accepted two levels including technology and industry and value improvement and creation suggested by Deloitte(2009) and it was classified into technology improvement-market expansion type, technology improvement-market creation type, technology creation-market expansion type, and technology creation-market creation type based on the companies introduced in the excellent casebook of convergence and integration technology development business of small and medium companies(August 2011). As a result, it was shown as 5 cases of technology improvement-market expansion, 4 cases of technology improvement-market creation, 3 cases of technology creation-market expansion, and 1 case of technology creation-market creation among the total 13 cases. Therefore, small and medium companies are focusing on technology improvement than technology creation and market expansion than market creation. What we can understand through cases analysis on convergence types of small and medium company is that it is very difficult for small and medium companies to create new technology or new market through convergence. Thus, small and medium companies consider market expansion through technology improvement as the objective and result of convergence. It is important to create new technology or new industry to cultivate new growth engines of the nation, but policy support that cares about reality of small and medium companies must be considered at the same time.

This study aims to reveal the effects of shoe size room on the inner environment of shoes by examining the changes of footskin temperature, temperature and humidity of the shoes, and psychological responses. The following conclusions were made: 1. Skin temperature had significant differences according to shoe sizes in the inner foot parts (right/left) and the outer foot part (left). As time went, skin temperature was distributed as follows: Type A > Type C > Type B. 2. Skin temperature appeared in the following order: instep > inner foot > outer foot. 3. The temperature within the shoes had significant differences: Type A > Type C > Type B. But no significance was recognized in the humidity within the shoes: Type B > Type C > Type A. 4. Some significance was noticed in the psychological responses of size fitness and comfortableness. In size fitness, Type B was responded to be fitting, Type A little small, and Type C rather big. Moisture had similar changes according to three shoe sizes, but humid was the response as time went. Comfortableness appeared in the order of Type C > Type B > Type A.

The purpose of this study were to identify the financial status of the home based business, and to analyze the factors effected on it. The sample consisted of 713 self-employed from data of 1998 Korea Household Panel Study, and analyzed into Frequencies, Percentile, t-test, $\varkappa$$^2$-test, and Regression Analysis. The findings showed that the household income and expenditure level of female self-employed was higher than those of male self-employed. In case of financial status of business, male self-employed's net profit was higher than female's and the net profit to total sales ratio of male self-employed was greater than female's. The factors contributing to total expenditure to total income ratio were sex, educational level, future economic expectancy, residence and home ownership of self-employed, while the factor effect on total asset to total debt ratio was only total household income. The Variables of sex, educational level of self- employed, job type of home based business and the number of employees in home based business were associated with net profit to total sales ratio, age and educational level of serif-employed, and job type of home based business was related to total sales to the number of emploees ratio(labor productivity).
