This paper introduced the new calibration algorithm of a straight-type five-hole pressure probe necessary for calculating three-dimensional flow velocity components. The new velocity data reduction method using both a commercial two-dimensional curve-fitting program and the zone partition method of a calibration map was firstly introduced in this study. This new calibration method can be applied up to the wide flow angle of ${\pm}80^{\circ}$ despite of using a five-hole pressure probe because this data reduction method showed a comparatively good performance in calculating yaw and pitch angles from the calibration map.

Welding of corner area across the edge is a difficult problem in robotized arc welding system, especially when continuously-welded leakage-proof product is required. This paper presents the methodology of cooperation plan of an arc welding robot and 1 or 2 axis welding manipulators for corner area welding. Welding trajectory for the robot is generated using clothoid curves; symmetrical double clothoid curve or unsymmetrical clothoid curve depending on the nature of the workpiece. The clothoid curve is first formulated for the case of linear type positioning table and then applied to the case of rotary type manipulator. The methodology is then illustrated for practical downhand welding situations.

Supernovae type Ia (SNe Ia) cosmology is providing the only direct evidence for the presence of dark energy. This result is based on the assumption that the look-back time evolution of SNe Ia luminosity, after light-curve shape correction, would be negligible. However, the most recent compilation of SNe Ia data shows systematic difference in the Hubble residual (HR) between the E and Sd/Irr galaxies, indicating that the light-curve fitters used by the SNe Ia community cannot quite correct for a large portion of the population age effect. In order to investigate this possibility more directly, we have obtained low-resolution spectra for 30 nearby early-type host galaxies. This data set is used to estimate the luminosity-weighted mean ages and metallicities of host galaxies by employing the population synthesis models. We found an interesting trend between the host galaxy age and HR, in the sense that younger galaxies have positive residuals (i.e., light-curve corrected SNe Ia luminosity is fainter). This result is rather independent of the choice of the population synthesis models employed. Taken at face value, this age (evolution) effect can mimic a large fraction of the HR used in the discovery of the dark energy. This result is significant at 1.4 - 3 sigma levels, depending on the light curve fitters adopted, and further observations and analyses are certainly required to confirm the trend reported here.

During the high speed train operation in the conventional line, it was found to have extremely severe flange wear, due to the curvy routes. This paper looks at the actions that have been taken to bring the wear to an acceptable level. In particular, it have been presented for flange wear variation depending on curve radius, cant, transition curve length by using numerical method. And the impacts on the flange wear by the application of stick type solid lubricant are also presented.

Recently, admixture manufacturers have improved the performance of admixtures to solve problems caused by high viscosity of high performance admixtures, and accordingly, it is expected to affect fluidity of concrete using admixtures. Therefore, in this research, how each kind of HAE affects consistency curve of cement mortar was examined.

Tensor product immersions of a given Riemannian manifold was initiated by B.-Y. Chen. In the present article we study the tensor product surfaces of two Euclidean plane curves. We show that a tensor product surface M of a plane circle $c_1$ centered at origin with an Euclidean planar curve $c_2$ has harmonic Gauss map if and only if M is a part of a plane. Further, we give necessary and sufficient conditions for a tensor product surface M of a plane circle $c_1$ centered at origin with an Euclidean planar curve $c_2$ to have pointwise 1-type Gauss map.

The body structure of a bus is generally assembled by using various spot welded box sectional members. The shape of window pillar joint is ordinarily built up by T-type member. It has been shown that T-type member has problems like high stress concentrations, low fatigue strength and low structural rigidity. In this study, to solve these problems a new approach to optimize the design of the bus window pillar joint was tried by FEM analysis and experiments. To describe the shape of the gusset connecting the vertical and horizontal members of the T-type window pillar joint B-spline curve was adopted and this curve was optimized . It was found that the new model developed could effectively improve fatigue durability an structural rigidity.

This study represents the methodology for feasibility analysis of small hydro power SHP plant. Cumulative density function of Weibull distribution and Thiessen method were adopted to decide flow duration curve at SHP candidate site. The perfomance prediction model and construction cost estimation model for tunnel-type SHP plant were developed. Eight tunnel -type SHP candidate sites existing on Han-river were selected and surveyed for actual site reconnaissance. The performance characteristics and economical feasibility for these sites were analyzed by using developed models. As a result, it was found that the optimum design flowrate with the lowest unit generation cost for tunel-type SHP candidate site were the flowrate concerming with between 20% and 30% of time ratio on the flow duration curve. Additionally, primary design specifications such as design flowrate, effective head, capacity, annual averageload factor, annual electricity production were estimated and discussed for eight surveyed SHP candidate sites.

We define the $e^{\alpha}_1e^{\alpha}_3$-isotropic Smarandache curves of type-1 and type-2, the $e^{\alpha}_1e^{\alpha}_2e^{\alpha}_3$-isotropic Smarandache curve, and the $e^{\alpha}_1e^{\alpha}_2e^{\alpha}_4$-isotropic Smarandache curves of type-1 and type-2. Then we examine these kinds of isotropic Smarandache curve according to Cartan frame in the complex 4-space $\mathbb{C}^4$ and give some differential geometric properties of these Samarandache curves.

In this paper, we develop four modified empirical distribution function (EDF) type tests using approximate maximum likelihood estimators for the half-logistic distribution based on multiply Type-II censored samples. We also propose modified normalize sample Lorenz curve polt and new test statistics. We compare the above test statistics in the sense of the power for various censored samples. We present an example to illustrate this method.
