This study was investigated the effects of ambient temperatures and menstrual cycle on Resting Metabolic Rate(RMR), Rectal Temperature(Tre), Skin(forehead, chest, abdomen, forearm, hand, thigh, leg, foot) Temperatures, and subjective thermal sensations in 8 young Korean females(ages 22-25, voluntarily). The Tre and the Skin Temperatures were measured in once every five minute for one hour. RMR was measured three times at 30 minutes intervals by indirect calorimetry. All measurements were gathered during Luteal Phase(LP), Menstruation(M), and Follicular Phase(FP) at two levels of ambient temperatures; low(17~21$^{\circ}C$) and middle(21.1~$25^{\circ}C$). LP were the highest values during FP and M in RMR, Tre, forehead temperature, chest temperature and abdomen temperature, while the leg(leg and foot) and arm(forearm and hand) temperatures were higher during FP rather than during LP at each ambient temperature. The downward curve of Tre in the experiment was larger during FP than LP. The values in subjective thermal sensations were most comfortable during LP than M and FP at each ambient temperature. The LP-FP differences in core and mean skin temperatures, and resting metabolic rate, were more significant at middle ambient temperatures than at low ambient temperatures.
This paper presents the results of an experimental study on the residual behavior of reinforced recycled aggregate concrete (RRAC) beam-columns after exposure to elevated temperatures. Two parameters were considered in this test: (a) recycled coarse aggregate (RCA) replacement percentages (i.e. 0, 30, 50, 70 and 100%); (b) high temperatures (i.e. 20, 200, 400, 600, and 800℃). A total of 25 RRAC short columns and 32 RRAC beams were conducted and subjected to different high temperatures for 1 h. After cooling down to ambient temperature, the following basic physical and mechanical properties were then tested and discussed: (a) surface change and mass loss ratio; (b) strength of recycled aggregate concrete (RAC) and steel subjected to elevated temperatures; (c) bearing capacity of beam-columns; (d) load-deformation curve. According to the test results, the law of performance degradation of RRAC beam-columns after exposure to high temperatures is analyzed. Finally, introducing the influence coefficient of RCA replacement percentage and high temperatures, respectively, to correct the calculation formulas of bearing capacity of beam-columns in Chinese Standard, and then the residual bearing capacity of RRAC beam-columns subjected elevated temperatures is calculated according to the modified formulas, the calculated results are in good agreement with the experimental results.
In Part I of this paper, the two-temperature homogenized model for the fully ceramic microencapsulated fuel, in which tristructural isotropic particles are randomly dispersed in a fine lattice stochastic structure, was discussed. In this model, the fuel-kernel and silicon carbide matrix temperatures are distinguished. Moreover, the obtained temperature profiles are more realistic than those obtained using other models. Using the temperature-dependent thermal conductivities of uranium nitride and the silicon carbide matrix, temperature-dependent homogenized parameters were obtained. In Part II of the paper, coupled with the COREDAX code, a reactor core loaded by fully ceramic microencapsulated fuel in which tristructural isotropic particles are randomly dispersed in the fine lattice stochastic structure is analyzed via a two-temperature homogenized model at steady and transient states. The results are compared with those from harmonic- and volumetric-average thermal conductivity models; i.e., we compare $k_{eff}$ eigenvalues, power distributions, and temperature profiles in the hottest single channel at a steady state. At transient states, we compare total power, average energy deposition, and maximum temperatures in the hottest single channel obtained by the different thermal analysis models. The different thermal analysis models and the availability of fuel-kernel temperatures in the two-temperature homogenized model for Doppler temperature feedback lead to significant differences.

The purpose of this study is to examine the effect of the improved cold tolerance resulting from cool clothing in winter on heat tolerance in summer. Ten healthy women were divided into two groups, cold group(C group) (n=5) and warm group(W group) (n=5) . In the previous study, C group was proved that their cold acclimatization was achieved through wearing cool clothing from September to February of the following year, while Wgroup was not proved because of wearing warm clothing during same period. After February, no more clothing training was continued in two groups. To determine the heat tolerance, both groups were exposed from a thermoneutral environment(25$\pm$1$^{\circ}C$, 50$\pm$5% R.H.) to a hot environment (35$\pm$1$^{\circ}C$, 50$\pm$5% R.H.) before and after clothing training, respectively September in 1994 and truly in 1995. Rectal temperature, skin temperatures, thermal sensation and comfort were measured every 10 min., and Os uptake was measured at 10, 45, 85 min. after entering the chamber for 5 min. Body weight was measured before and after the experiment and amount of local sweat was measured during the 90 min long experiment. The results are as follows: Rectal temperatures in 35'c environment of C group were increased after training when compared with before clothing, while those of W group were not changed. But the changes of rectal temperature and heat production during 90 min in hot environment were almost the same in two groups after training. And mean skin temperatures, the changes of mean skin temperatures during 90 min in hot environment, total sweat amount and local sweat amount after training were also the same in two groups. From these results, it might be supposed that the heat loss of two groups were the same but the heat production, especially heat production during rest in C group was higher than in Wgroup. This fact suggests that the increase of rest heat production from cold acclimatization in winter is maintained to summer of the following year. And mild cold acclimatization coming from westing cool clothing does not have a negative effect on heat tolerance.
A sensor array (35mm'! in diaphragm dimension) of 12 sensing elements with different operating temperatures was optimized with respect to thermal operation. This sensor array with single heater on a glass diaphragm over back-etched silicon bulk realizes a novel concept of a sensor array: an way of sensor elements operated at different temperatures can yield more information than single measurement. The proposed micro sensor array could provide well-integrated way structure because it has only single heater at the center of the diaphragm and used the various sensing properties of two kinds of metal oxide layers with various operating temperatures.

Thermal convection between two horizontal walls kept at small amplitude nonuniform temperatures of the form, $T_L=T_1+a{\Delta}T$ sin kx and $T_U=T_2+b{\Delta}T\;sin(kx-{\beta})$ with a, $b{\ll}1$, is numerically investigated. When the Rayleigh number is small, an upright cell is formed between two walls at ${\beta}=0$; the cell is tilted at ${\beta}={\pi}/2$, and a flow with two-tier-structure cells occurs at ${\beta}={\pi}$. As the Rayleigh number is increased, Nusselt number increases smoothly for ${\beta}=0\;and\;{\pi}/2$, but increases rather steeply for ${\beta}={\pi}$ near the critical Rayleigh number ($Ra_c=1708$). When the wave number is small (k=0.5), multicellular convection occurs over one wave length, for all phase differences, and multiple solutions are found.
Water and oxygen are two of the most essential molecules for many species on earth. Their unique properties have been studied in many areas of science. In this study, the interaction of water and oxygen molecules was observed at the nano-scale. Using molecular dynamics, a water droplet with 30,968 water molecules was simulated. Then, 501 oxygen molecules were introduced into the domain. A few oxygen molecules were attracted to the surface of the water droplet due to van der Waals forces, and some oxygen molecules actually entered the water droplet. These interactions were visualized and quantified at four temperatures ranging from 280 to 370 K. It was found that at high temperatures, there was a higher possibility of the oxygen molecules penetrating the water droplet than that at lower temperatures. However, at lower temperatures, oxygen molecules were more likely to be found interacting at the surface of the water droplet than at high temperatures.

The cladding temperatures and axial mass distribution computed by MAAP5 were compared with their measured values in the test bundle of the Phebus Test FPT0. The computed cladding temperatures were in good agreed with the measured values in the pre-transient phase. In the transient heat-up phase, the computed temperatures were overestimated by the Baker-Just correlation in MAAP5, but the computed temperatures could simulate the subsequently measured values. The computed mass distribution in the axial direction was in qualitative agreement with the measured one for post-test fuel damage observations. The calculated flow areas of inner and outer regions in the test bundle were compared with the photographic observations. MAAP5 computed them at the height of 0.2 m where the molten pool formed was in qualitative agreement with the photographic observations. It was found that the remaining steam flow paths might be caused by the gas-liquid two-phase flow counter-current flow limitation.
This paper presents the effects of elevated temperatures of $400^{\circ}C$ and $800^{\circ}C$ on the residual compressive strength and failure behaviour of fibre reinforced concretes and comparison is made with that of unreinforced control concrete. Two types of short fibres are used in this study e.g., steel and basalt fibres. The results show that the residual compressive strength capacity of steel fibre reinforced concrete is higher than unreinforced concrete at both elevated temperatures. The basalt fibre reinforced concrete, on the other hand, showed lower strength retention capacity than the control unreinforced concrete. However, the use of hybrid steel-basalt fibre reinforcement recovered the deficiency of basalt fibre reinforced concrete, but still slightly lower than the control and steel fibres reinforced concretes. The use of fibres reduces the spalling and explosive failure of steel, basalt and hybrid steel-basalt fibres reinforced concretes oppose to spalling in deeper regions of ordinary control concrete after exposure to above elevated temperatures. Microscopic observation of steel and basalt fibres surfaces after exposure to above elevated temperatures shows peeling of thin layer from steel surface at $800^{\circ}C$, whereas in the case of basalt fibre formation of Plagioclase mineral crystals on the surface are observed at elevated temperatures.

The effects of heat treatments and testing temperatures on the mechanical properties of Invar materials were investigated through experiments, which call influence the formability in metal forming fields. Annealing temperatures were changed from $900^{\circ}C$ to $1200^{\circ}C$ with an increment of $100^{\circ}C$ under two different furnace atmosphere(vacuum and H$_2$gas). Microstructure and hardness tests were performed for annealed specimens at room temperature(RT) and tensile tests were also performed by changing annealing temperatures as well as testing temperatures from RT to $300^{\circ}C$. The grain size of annealed materials increased with increasing annealing temperature, while micro-hardness distributions showed almost same hardness values regardless of annealing temperatures. Strength ratio (tensile/yield strength), which influences the forming characteristics of sheet metal, remained almost constant for various experimental conditions in case of unannealed specimens. However, it showed increasing tendency with increasing both annealing and testing temperatures, particularly at the testing temperature higher than $200^{\circ}C$. Therefore it can be concluded that press formability of fully-annealed Invar material can be improved by warm forming technique.
