한국잔디(Zoysia Japonica Steud)의 실생번식법 확립에 관한 연구 II. 종자의 발아형태 조사 (Studies on the establishing a lawn of Zoysia Japonica Steud with the seeds. Part II. Investigation of the seeding root system of Zoysia japonica steud.)

  • To establish a lawn Zoysia japonica Steud with seeds a win of experiments were conducted for the investigation of seedling root system. The results m summarized m follows; Zoysia japonica and maize elongated mesocotyle in germinating stage. but rye and barley did not. The mesocotyle of Z. japonica seed pushed the elongating coleoptile up throngh the soil, hence could emerge from more deeply planted. The crown roots of Z japonica originated from the coleoptile node. The crown roots of barley originated from the first foliage led node.

  • 우리나라 골프장의 잔디 가해 해충과 천적을 조사하던 중 농림작물의 중요해충인 고구마뿌리혹선충을 Zoysia잔디에서 발견하였다. 고구마뿌리혹선충에 감염된 잔디는 새 뿌리가 발육하지 못하고 뭉툭하게 되어 황화현상과 함께 전반적으로 생육이 부진하였다. 감염된 잔디의 종은 들잔디(Zoyais japonica)와 금잔디(Zoysia matrella), 버뮤다글라스(Cynodon sp.)였다. 그리고 Z. japonica는 고구마뿌리혹선충의 새로운 기주로 기록된다. 조사 골프장의 대부분이 정도의 차이는 있었지만 피해를 받고 있었다. 잔디에서 뿌리혹선충이 기록되기는 우리나라에서는 처음이다.

잔디 초지의 쥐불이 인접한 논의 절지동물군집의 동태에 미치는 영향 (Effects of Winter Fire on Arthropoda Communities of Rice Fields)

  • Effects of Zoysia japonica fired in winter on the arthropoda communities in its grassland and rice field was investigated . The results gave indicated that a significant difference between total 15,120 individuals of 4 classes, 11 orders, 47 families, 92 genera and 103 species in the control of Zoysia japonica grassland, and total 1, 404 individuals of 4 classes, 11 orders, 47 families, 53 genera 65 species in the Zoysia japonica grassland fired in winter. Index of similarity of Zoysia japonica grasslands between Kimpo and Yangsuri areas was 0.51. Dominant species of arthropoda communities in Zysia japonica grasstands in Kimpo and Yangsuri areas were Hypogastnua sp. and Proisotorn sp., respectively. The spiders were 9 families and 27 species at Kimpo, and t2 families. and 44 species at Yangsuri, and their dominant species was Gnathonariurn dentaturn at two areas. Laodelphex striatelus in the Zoysia japonica grassland fired in winter was sampled constantly morning, noon and night, hut Gnatlzonariun dentatum was sampled more frequently in the morning than at night. Damage of the spiders in the Zoysia japonica granssland fired in winter was more severe than that of Laodelphcx striatelus .

잔디 혼식을 통한 생태학적 병충해 관리 (Ecological Management of Turf Insects and Zoysia Large Patch by Mixing Turfgrass Species)

  • Ecological control can contribute to the sustainibility of vegetation management systems by reducing the input currently derived from non-renewable fossil energy sources. The use of turfgrass mixtures is an important tool in turf management. Turfgrass mixtures of two or more compatible and adapted species provide improved tolerance to pest and environmental stress, more so than monostands. The objectives of this study were to evaluated turf insects, pests and zoysia large patch control by turgrass mixtures. In April 2001 and 2002, plots were inoculated with 50g of Rhizoctonia solani AG2-2LP inoculum. Inoculum were treated within a 29cm diamater circle at Zoysia japonica, Zoysia japonica, Poa pratenis, or Festuca arundinacea mixtures. After four weeks, disease severity in each plot was determined. plot area visual ratings were assessed visually on a linera 0 to 100%. In August 2001 and October 2002, turf insects and pests in each plot were investigated in 10cm deep soil cores with 8cm diameters using hole cut. Zoysia large patch affected zoysiagrass monostands more severly than zoysiagrass and cool-season turfgrasses mixtures. It was suggested that the barrier effect of cool-season turfgrass suppressed zoysia large patch in the mixture of zoysiagrass and cool-season turfgrasses. Also, warm-season and cool-season turfgrasses mixtures suppressed insect populations more efficiently than warm-season turfgrass monostands.

  • This study was performed to find out the mineral cycles of sulphur in dynamic grassland ecosystems in a steady state condition at the northwest side on Mt. Kwanak. The experimental results may be summarized on the communities of a Zoysia japonica and a Miscanthus sinensis as follows. As compared with some properties of the surface soils among two semi-natural grasslands, sulphur war greater quantity in a Miscanthus sinensis than in a Zoysia japonica on Mt. Kwanak . For the case of steady production and release, the raion of annual mineral production to the amount accumulated on the top of mineral soil in a steady state provides the estimates of release constant k. The release constants on sulphur of the litter were 0.54 in a Zoysia japonica and 0.36 in a Miscanthus sinensis grassland. The half times of S required for the release or accumulation of the litter on the grassland were 1.28 years in a Zoysia japonica and 1.93 years in a Miscauthus sinensis The amounts of annual cycles for sulphur in the grassland ecosystem under the steady-state conditions were 20.65g /$m^2$ in a Zoysia japonica and 26.28g /$m^2$ in a Miacanthus sinensis grassland.   • The cycles of heavy metals, mercury, lead and cadmium, were investigated on in dynamic grassland ecosystems at a steady state in Zoysia japonica and Miscanthus sinensis in Mt. Kwanak, Korea. Estimates of decay constants of heavy metals based on experimental and methomatical model, were Hg 0.14, Pb 0.17 and Cd 0.41 of Z. japonica grassland, and Hg 0.33, Pb 0.13 and Cd 0.56 of M sinensis grassland. The durations of reaching half of initial amounts in Z. japonica and M. sinensis grassland, were Hg 4.95, Pb 4.07 and Cd 1.69 years, and Hg 2.10, Pb 5.33 and Cd 1.24 years respectively. Times needed for 99% decomposed were longer in Z. japonica than M. sinensis grassland. Decay velocity of constituents of surface soil layers were more rapidly in M. sinensis than Z. japonica grassland. Key words: Cycles of heavy metals, Mercury, Lead, Cadmium, Zoysia japonica. 예초고가 Zoysia japonica의 생육과 Thatch축적에 미치는 영향 (The Effect of Cutting-height on the Growth and Thatch Accumulation m Zoysia japonica)

  • The purpose of this experiment was in order to detect the effect of cutting height on the growth and thatch accumulation in Zoysio japonica Cutting height treatments were 2.5, 3.8, 5.1cm and no cutting, respectively. The results were obtained as follows : 1.Cutting treatments great]y affected to the growth of Zoysia japonica and thatch accumulation. 2.The dry weight of Leaf and shoot had the highest at 5.1cm. So 5.1cm treatment was desirable level for the top growth of Zoysia japonica 3.The dry weight of leaf, shoot, root and coverage of control were obtained the higher than cutting treatments. 4.The dry weight of thatch of control were less than cutting treatments, and 5.1cm treatment were more than tow cutting height. 5.Retationships of dry weight of thatch with thatch depth and C/F ratio were positive significant differences at 5% level. 6. Relationship between dry weight of shoot and coverage showed a positive significant difference at 5% level.

Gene expression involved in dark-induced leaf senescence in zoysiagrass (Zoysia japonica)

  • Zoysiagrass (Zoysia japonica) is one of the important turfgrass species. Extending green period of zoysiagrass via delaying leaf senescence will make this species have more potential in the turfgrass industry. In this study, we found that zoysiagrass seedlings treated with $GA_3$ could delay the leaf senescence induced by darkness. To study expression of genes responsive to staying green in zoysiagrass, suppression subtractive hybridization (SSH) was used to identify differentially expressed genes between non-$non-GA_3-treated$ and $GA_3-treated$ seedlings subjected to darkness. A total of 307 ESTs were generated, of which 226 ESTs clustered into 54 contigs and 81 were singlets. Differentially expressed genes selected by subtractions were classified into six categories according to their putative functions generated by BLAST analysis. Expression of five selected genes, Met, SAM, V-ATPase, Cry (Cryptochrome gene), and An (diphthine synthase gene) were examined by RT-PCR and Real-time PCR. Both RT-PCR and Real-time PCR results demonstrated that the differential expressions of these genes were attributable to delaying senescence by exogenously applied gibberellic acid. This is the first genome-wide study of senescence in a species of turfgrass.

  • This investigation is carried out to clarify the cycles of nitrogen in the grassland ecosystems of Zoysia japonica and a Miscanthus sinensis on Mt. Kwanak. The hasic differential equation for the rate of change of nitrogen storage is illustrated hy huild-up and turnover of organic nitrogen, particularly in the ecosystems. The turnover velocity fractions of nitrogen for the Z. japonica and M .sinensis grasslands were k= 0. 181 and k=0. 166, respectively. The times required to reach 50, 95 and 99 percent of the steady state levels and turnover values of nitrogen on the grassland floors were 3.85, 16.67 and 27.78 years in the Z japonica grassland and 4.08, 17.65 and 29.41 years in the M sinensis grassland. The amount of annual cycles of nitrogen are 560.2 g /$m^2$ in the Z.japonica grassland and 654.1 g /$m^2$ in the M. sinensis grassland. Key words : Zsysia japonica Alisca nthus sinensis, Mt.   • A Zoysia japonica and Miscanthus sinensis grasslands of north-west side on Mt. Kwanak were investigated The most important species in this area were Zoysia japonica and Miscanthus sinensis These two species contributed greatly to the standing crops of live material, which were in excess of 598. 4g /$m^2$ and 698. 7g /$m^2$ during the growing season, respectively. This value would he ucreased if the production of the moss and algal mats which cover the soil surface during the growing season was included. The productive structures of the Zoysia japonica and Mliscanthus si nen sis grasslands were short and long height types of the grasslands, respectively.
