  • This paper deals with design method of learning fuzzy controller for control of an unknown nonlinear plant using the self-tuning algorithm of fuzzy inference rules. In this method the fuzzy identification model obtained that the joined identification model of nonlinear part and linear identification model of linear part by fuzzy inference systems. This fuzzy identification model ordered self-tuning by Decent method so as to be servile to nonlinear plant. A the end, designed learning fuzzy controller of fuzzy identification model have learning structure to model reference adaptive system. The simulation results show that th suggested identification and learning control schemes are practically feasible and effective.

  • In this paper, the design of an optimum single input Fuzzy controller for application in dc to ac converters is presented. Contrary to conventional Fuzzy controllers, the proposed controller has a smaller number of rules and tuning parameters but is capable of performing identically to a conventional controller. These benefits lead to a simpler controller design. The controller is designed as a PI controller for small-signal disturbances. However, for optimum large-signal performance, heuristic tuning is used. The tuning is less complicated and hence optimum large-signal performance is achievable. The system is simulated and a hardware prototype was developed for comparison purposes.

  • This paper presents a scaling factor tuning method to improve the performance of fuzzy logic controller. Tuning rules and reasoning are utilized off-line to determine the scaling factors based on absolute value of the error and its difference. In this paper We proposed a new method to generate fuzzy logic controllers throught genetic algorithm. The developed approach is subsequently applied to the design of proportional plus integral type fuzzy controller for a dc-servo motor control system. The performance of this control system is demonstrated higher than a conventional fuzzy logic controller(FLC).

  • Fuzzy controllers have proven to be powerful in controlling dynamic processes where mathematical models are unknown or intractable and ill-defined. The way of improving the performance of a fuzzy controller is based on making up rules, constructing membership functions, selecting a defuzzification method and adjusting input-output scaling factors. But there are many difficulties in tuning those to optimize a fuzzy controller. So, in this paper, we propose the look-up table based self-orgenizing fuzzy controller (LSOFC) which optimizes look-up values resulting from the above fuzzy processes. We use the plus-minus tuning method(PMTM), scanning the value through the processes of addition and subtraction. Simulation results demonstrate that the performance of LSOFC is far better than that of a non-tuning fuzzy controller.

  • In this paper, a timer thresholds tuning algorithm is proposed, satisfying the required response time for traffic with time-critical applications and asynchronous traffic in FDDI network. Under light and medium load, priorities and timer thresholds play a minor role for medium access control. In these cases all quenes are served exhaustively with a ver high service probability and the packet loss probability approaches almost zero. Under overload condition, however, the performance of the FDDI Network is completely determined by the selection of the timer thresholds. The timer thresholds tuned by mathematical results is confirmed by simulation results using SIMAN/UNIX package. The allocation of guaranteed bandwidth can be controlled easily by tuning the timer thresholds according to the proposed rules.

  • The rule bases self organizing controller(SOC) has one of its main advantages in the fact that there is no need to have a mathematical description of the system to be controlled. In this controller, the rules are linguistics statements expressed mathematically through the concepts of fuzzy sets and correspond to the actions a human operator would take when controlling a given process. With this controller, we have performed to sight stabilization system, and we realize that it needs a scale factor tuning. The self tuning controller(STC) uses an instantaneous system fuzzy performance which can give an inspection to the scale factor. Therefore, the STC can compensate the scale factor when it is not adequately tuned. With this trial, we shows that STC can give a good transient characteristics in the nonlinearity which imposed basically in the conventional servo system.

  • Among various modern control theories, PID control has been well used for several decades. PID algorithms needs son tuning methods are used for selecting PID parameters. But in some cases various kinds of performance indices are used instead of well-known tuning rules, and so variable type of performance index must be tested so that controllers, output characteristics and disturbance rejection property meets some specifications. In this paper, linear conbinational type of performance using error signal, time, control input and robustness is used to the PID control of air conditioning system. By the 2 DOF PID parmeters minimizing perfromacne index, controllers, output characteristics and robustness properties are analyzed. Simulations are done with MATLAB m file and mdl files.

  • This paper represents that auto tunings of membership functions and weights in the fuzzy neural networks are effectively performed by immune algorithm. A number of hybrid methods in fuzzy-neural networks are considered in the context of tuning of learning method, a general view is provided that they are the special cases of either the membership functions or the gain modification in the neural networks by genetic algorithms. On the other hand, since the immune network system possesses a self organizing and distributed memory, it is thus adaptive to its external environment and allows a PDP (parallel distributed processing) network to complete patterns against the environmental situation. Also, it can provide optimal solution. Simulation results reveal that immune algorithms are effective approaches to search for optimal or near optimal fuzzy rules and weights.

  • The merit of fuzzy rule based systems stems from their capability of encoding qualitative knowledge of experts into quantitative rules. Recent advancement in automatic tuning or self-organization of fuzzy rules from experimental data further enhances their power, allowing the integration of the top-down encoding of knowledge with the bottom-up learning of rules. In this paper, methods of self-organizing fuzzy rules and of performing defuzzification and inference is presented based on a multi-resolution radial basis function network. The network learns an arbitrary input-output mapping from sample distribution as the union of hyper-ellipsoidal clusters of various locations, sizes and shapes. The hyper-ellipsoidal clusters, representing fuzzy rules, are self-organized based of global competition in such a way as to ensute uniform mapping errors. The cooperative interpolation among the multiple clusters associated with a mapping allows the network to perform a bidirectional many-to-many mapping, representing a particular from of defuzzification. Finally, an inference engine is constructed for the network to search for an optimal chain of rules or situation transitions under the constraint of transition feasibilities imposed by the learned mapping. Applications of the proposed network to skill acquisition are shown.

  • The purpose of this paper is to build a pronunciation lexicon with estimated likelihoods of the phonetic rules based on the phonetic realizations and therefore to improve the performance of CSR using the dictionary. In the baseline system, the phonetic rules and their application probabilities are defined with the knowledge of Korean phonology and experimental tuning. The advantage of this approach is to implement the phonetic rules easily and to get stable results on general domains. However, a possible drawback of this method is that it is hard to reflect characteristics of the phonetic realizations on a specific domain. In order to make the system reflect phonetic realizations, the likelihood of phonetic rules is reestimated based on the statistics of the realized phonemes using a forced-alignment method. In our experiment, we generates new lexica which include pronunciation variants created by reestimated phonetic rules and its performance is tested with 12 Gaussian mixture HMMs and back-off bigrams. The proposed method reduced the WER by 0.42%.
