  • This experimental study is aimed to increasing the velocity in the sewerage and also development of easy removal method for a corrosion and sand in the flow pipe. And the result by the increasing the out flow per unit time, diameter of sewerage pipe is becoming small size, cut down the construction fee and the same time reducing the tubulent flow pattern in the flow pipe. As a result of detected experimental velocity signal from the probe in the test wall surface, reducing the pump power and increasing the out flow unit time. Apparent water velocity decreases as the value of void ratio increases depends on the varies center of pipe.

  • The turbulent flow and heat transfer in the tunnel laminar flow type clean room is investigated by a numerical simulation. The model clean room is assumed to be a rectngular $5m\times3m$, in which a worktable of 0.75m hight, and 1.5m or 3m long at the floor. Major parameters are the inlet flow velocity, inlet hole size and worktable surface distance. The mean Nusselt number is increased by increasing Reynolds number and can be expressed by the correlation equation.

  • The fluid flow for a energy transfer is essential for the design and operation of power plants, petrochemical plants and ships including a process. When the operating conditions of a plant are changed or any transitional event occured, the flow controls of a fluid must be performed to follow the new operating state or mitigate the results of a event. Generally these flow controls to accommodate the new operating state of a plant are made by the use of various valves. The refore the design of valves and the related techniques are very important to the system and component designs. However the system and component design are not familiar with the practical theory of the valve since the derivative procedures of the flow equations in a valve are difficult and it is not easy to found the theoretical foundamentals and informations about the design of a valve from the present references. In this study the flow equations applicable to a valve for liquid are theoretically derived in detail. And the definition of valve reynolds number and its boundary values between the tubulent and laminar flow is described compared with the values of a circular pipe flow.

  • The fully developed tubulent momentum and heat transfer induced by the square- ribbed roughness elements on both the inner and outer wall surfaces in the concentric annuli are studied analytically based on a modified turbulence model. Heat transfer coefficients for two conditions, i.e, a) inner wall heated as constant heat flux and outer wall insulated b) inner wall insulated and outer wall heated as constant heat flux, are investigated. The analytical results of the fluid flow are verified by experiment. The experiment is done with a pitot tube and a X-type hot wire anemometer to measure the time mean velocity profiles, zero shear stress positions, maximum velocity profiles and friction factors, and etc. The resulting momentum and heat transfer are discussed in terms of various parameters, such as the radius ratio, the relative roughness, the roughness density, Nusselt number and Prandtl number.

  • Friction losses and heat transfer characteristics were studied experimentally for fully developed tubulent flow in tubes with twisted tape swirl generators. Data were obtained for pitch- to-diameter ratios from 8.10 to 25.71 with water under forced convection cool ins conditions. The experimental results of this and that of previous swirl flow investigation by Smithberg and Landis were compared. Nusselt number and friction data are combined in a constant pumping power comparision for swirl and straight flow, which indicates that improvement of 2.0 times in the best performance can be obtained with twisted tape-insert tube. A twisted tape-insert tube is recommended in the case of low temperature difference in heat-exchanger.

  • An analysis for turbulent hybrid beatings with fluid inertia and swirl injection effect was derived for studying static characteristics of swirl-controlled hybrid journal. The swirl-controlled hybrid journal beating is considered to have more freedom in stability control in high speed rotating machinery. Current analysis is compared with experimental results with 3-recess hydrostatic journal bearing. The analysis revealed that the fluid momentum exchange at orifice discharge could produce pressure rise inside the recess region which can control the shear flow induced by journal rotation. The analysis also shows that the swirl-controlled hybrid journal beating has a capability of controlling load carrying capacity and stability by manipulating supply pressure and injection angle.

  • This paper is concerned with the effect of cylinder wakes upstream on blade characteristics of compressor cascade(NCA 65 series). At first, it is found that the velocity defect ratio of cylinder wake varies according to the acceleration and deceleration in a flow field but, is conserved nearly constant at flow downstream the cascade, irrespective of the flow path in the cascade. When a cylinder wake flows along near the suction surface of the blade, or impinges on the leading edge, the turbulent velocities are supplied on or inside the outer edge of boundary layer near the leading edge of suction surface, and the transition to a transitional or turbulent boundary layers is induced, so that the laminar separation is prevented, but the profile loss increases. The transition of boundary layer to a transitional or turbulent one is strongly related with the strength of added turbulent velocities near the leading edge on the suction surface, which is influenced by the flow path of a cylinder wake.

  • Variations in the discharge rates of drip emittes were examined to find the effects of operation pressure and the tube length and to evaluate performance of the emitters. Several point-source emitters were selected such as pressure compensated, anti-leak pressure compensated, turbulent flow regulated, flow regulated, ready-made dripper, and spaghetti. Combination of operation pressure and tube length were compared. The microirrigatioon system was operated at pressures of 0.5 , 1.0 , 1.5 and 2.0 bar. The discharge from emitters wer collected at every ten meters along the lateral tube and weighted. In order to evaluate the drip emitters performance coeffcient of discharge variation , statistical uniformity, and emission uniformity were calculated. No significant variation in discharge along drip tube resulted with all emitters. There is no trend of variatiiono of discharge rate from pressure compensated emitters with increase in operation pressures. But discharge rate from other types of emitters increased with increase in operation pressures. The nominal discharge of each emitter was secured at pressure of 1.0 bar, Evaluation using statiscal and emission uniformity coefficients indicated that most of the emitters excepts tubulent flow regulated emitter and ready-made dripper performed at excellent level.

  • The Combustion gas behavior induced by fire in a building is numerically investigated. The typical building for this analysis is partially divided by a vertical baffle projecting from the ceiling. The solution procedure includes the low Reynolds number ${\kappa}-{\varepsilon}$ model for the turbulent flow and the discrete ordinates method is used for the calculation of radiative heat transfer equation. The effects of the location and size of fire source and baffle length on velocity and temperature distributions, species mass fraction and flame location are analyzed. As the results of this study, it is found that the case when the fire source is located at the vertical wall is more dangerous than at the bottom wall in view of the combustion products and flame location. It is also found that the radiation effect cannot be neglected in analyzing the building in fire.

  • To precict the suspended sediments which are 80% of total sediments in a flood disch- arge, an equation representing vertical distribution of sediment concentration was derived based upon the diffusion theory and the logalithmic velocity distribution function in the tubulent flow mechanism. The hypothesis that the uniform mass transfer is occurred at upper part along the center line of water depth, was established as a preconition to solve the problem. The theorecal and the observed values were compared. And the theoretical equation was modified to be fit the theoretical values the observed values. Observed results are as follow; 1) Equation 12) is the theoretical equation representing the vertical concentration distri- bution of suspended sedimenta 2) Rous&exonential type vertical concentration distribution equation shows signification errors near the water surface. But the equation 12) shows substation cocentration values near the water surface. 3) Equation 15) is the modified theoretical equation which is possible to predict the vertical concentration distribution of suspended sediments.
