보일러튜브 용접부 비파괴검사를 위한 컴퓨터화 방사선투과시험 적용 연구 (Application of Computed Radiography for Nondestructive Testing of Boiler Tube Weldments)

  • A steam generator (boiler) in thermal power plants, consisting of more than 30,000 parts and components, can lead to the plant shutdown with damage to even the small part of the components; esp., like weld failures on boiler tubes. Consequently it is greatly demanded to improve the quality of the weld on the boiler tube for the stable operation of the power plants. Because of the feature of the welding, which is done past by melting the work pieces and adding a filler material that cools to become a strong coalescence, there is a great possibility that weld failures take place. As a result, it is regulated to make a non-destructive testing, like radiography test, to detect defects and flaws in the weld. The current film radiography test provides a lower image quality exceeding 2.0% of a basic quality level for a penetrameter, it is very likely to fail to detect micro defect. As a result, the prevention for the boiler tube failure has not been made effectively. In this study, computed radiography technology has been applied as a digital radiography test to the boiler tube weld, and Se-75 radiation source was used to improve the image quality, instead of Ir-192 source. As a result of this study, it is proven to save the time and cost for test and to enhance the quality level of penetrameter penetrating image, which enables to upgrade the quality of radiography test to the boiler tube weld.

월성 1호기 계속운전을 위한 증기발생기 열화관리 (Wolsong Unit 1 Steam Generator Aging Management for Continued Operation)

  • As a part of license renewal for the continued operation of Wolsong unit 1, the periodic safety review report was submitted near the end of design lifetime, 2012, and now is under reviewing. Major components of primary system such as pressure tubes, feeder pipes and so on are being replaced and many components of secondary system are also being repaired. So the license renewal of Wolsong unit 1 is expected to be acquired without significant issues. But on the other hand, steam generators of Wolsong unit 1 had the good performance and therefore the replacement and repair for the steam generator are not needed. Recently it is reported that some cracks were detected in a few of european steam generator with Alloy 800 tubes and the cause of cracks was the outer diameter stress corrosion cracking(ODSCC) due to the concentration of chemical impurities on the outer surface of tube. Accordingly the overall review on this issue was performed. The long-term operation is likely to results to form the concentration mechanism for the tube corrosion as the sludge build-up in the secondary side of steam generator and the crack in the crevice between tube and tube-sheet and expansion transitions is apt to be occurred. In this paper, the history of steam generator inspection and operation of Wolsong unit 1 are reviewed and the reliability of steam generator tube is evaluated and the steam generator aging management program for Wolsong unit 1 is introduced.

진단용 엑스선 장치의 안전관리 검사에 관한 연구 (A Study on Safety Management Inspection of Diagnostic X-ray System)

  • 본 연구는 병원 및 대학교 등에 설치된 X선 발생장치를 대상으로 진단용 방사선 발생장치의 품질관리 항목을 적용하여 성능 비교를 하여 주기적인 성능관리의 중요성을 인식시켜 성능유지 및 관리에 도움을 주고자 한다. 우선 재현성 및 직선성 실험결과 모든 실험조건에서 합격기준에 부합되었으며 주기적인 정도관리가 부족한 GX-650장치의 경우 재현성 평가의 백분율 오차가 높았으며 직선성 평가에서는 관전압을 100 kVp로 설정 시 0.105로 백분율 오차에서 벗어나게 측정되었다. 또한 관전압 및 관전류의 정확도 평가결과 상대적으로 X선 발생횟수가 낮은 장치에서 백분율 오차가 낮은 것을 알 수 있었다. 반가층 실험은 모든 장치에서 관전압 별 반가층 기준에 모두 포함되었다. 따라서 병원용, 실습용 구분보다는 모든 장치의 정도관리의 중요성을 인식하고 적극적으로 장치의 성능관리를 시행하여 장치를 유지 관리해야 할 것이며 특수의료장비처럼 짧은 주기의 정도관리 제도를 마련해야 할 것으로 사료된다.

카본시트튜브로 구속된 원형 콘크리트 기둥의 강도감소계수 제안에 관한 연구 (A Study of Strength Reduction Factor Preparation for Circular Concrete Columns confined by Carbon Sheet Tube)

  • 본 연구에서는 각기 다른 각도와 시트장수(3T, 5T 및 7T)로 제작된 카본시트 튜브로 구속된 원형 콘크리트 기둥의 압축강도 실험을 수행한 후 압축강도 실험실과 강도감소계수를 제안하였다. 실험체는 $300mm{\times}600mm$ 크기로 제작하였으며, 탄소섬유의 각도는 $90^{\circ}{\pm}0^{\circ}$, $90^{\circ}{\pm}30^{\circ}$, $90^{\circ}{\pm}45^{\circ}$, $90^{\circ}{\pm}60^{\circ}$, $90^{\circ}{\pm}75^{\circ}$$90^{\circ}{\pm}90^{\circ}$이다. 압축강도 실험은 10,000 kN UTM을 이용하여 0.01 mm/sec 가력속도의 변위 제어법으로 실험을 수행하였다. 실험결과의 회귀분석을 통하여 각도별 압축강도 및 극한변형률을 예측하는 실험식을 제안하였으며, 국내 콘크리트 부재의 설계법인 극한강도 설계법 적용을 위한 강도감소계수를 제안하였다. 강도감소계수는 Monte Carlo Analysis를 이용하여 해석을 수행하였으며 그 값은 0.64로 제안하였다. 탄소섬유시트를 이용하여 카본튜브를 제작하는 것은 시공자의 기술력에 따라 구조성능이 좌우될 수 있으므로 카본튜브 제작 및 시공 시 각별한 현장관리가 요구된다.

  • 본 연구에서는 현장타설과 프리캐스트 방식의 콘크리트 충진 FRP 교각의 성능평가 실험을 수행하였다. 8개의 축소모형 실험체에 대한 준정적 실험을 실시하였으며, 실험변수로는 FRP 두께, 콘크리트 강도, 횡방향 철근비, 직경을 선정하였다. 반복 횡하중에 대한 연성능력을 평가하고 각 시험체의 강성저하에 따른 감쇠비와 파괴양상 등을 비교하였다.

Defect Shape Recovering by Parameter Estimation Arising in Eddy Current Testing

  • This paper is concerned with a computational method for recovering a crack shape of steam generator tubes of nuclear plants. Problems on the shape identification are discussed arising in the characterization of a structural defect in a conductor using data of eddy current inspection. A surface defect on the generator tube ran be detected as a probe impedance trajectory by scanning a pancake type coil. First, a mathematical model of the inspection process is derived from the Maxwell's equation. Second, the input and output relation is given by the approximate model by virtue of the hybrid use of the finite element and boundary element method. In that model, the crack shape is characterized by the unknown coefficients of the B-spline function which approximates the crack shape geometry. Finally, a parameter estimation technique is proposed for recovering the crack shape using data from the probe coil. The computational experiments were successfully tested with the laboratory data.

  • The inspection for steam generator tubes of nuclear power plants is performed by eddy current test method. In the current, human experts should check enormous amounts of eddy current(EC) signals to find abnormal ones on the computer screen. This method could cause a few problems. The purpose of this paper is to develop an expert system which can automatically evaluate EC signals of steam generator tubes. Since this expert system can replace or help human experts, the reliability in EC signal evaluation can be improved, and the required man-power can be reduced. Additionally, application of this system can shorten the overhaul period, contribute to a safe operation of the nuclear power plant.

A Neural Network- Based Classification Method for Inspection of Bead Shape in High Frequency Electric Resistance Weld

  • High-frequency electric resistance welding (HERW) technique is one of the most productive manufacturing method currently available for pipe and tube production because of its high welding speed. In this process, a heat input is controlled by skilled operators observing color and shape of bead but such a manual control can not provide reliability and stability required for manufacturing pipes of high grade quality because of a variety of bead shapes and noisy environment. In this paper, in an effort to provide reliable quality inspection, we propose a neural network-based method for classification of bead shape. The proposed method utilizes the structure of Kohonen network and is designed to learn the skill of the expert operators and to provide a good solution to classify bead shapes according to their welding conditions. This proposed method is implemented on the real pipe manufacturing process, and a series of experiments are performed to show its effectiveness.

콘크리트충전(充塡) 각형강관(角形鋼管) 기둥과 H형강 보 접합부(接合部)의 비선형 유한요소해석 (A Nonlinear FEM Analysis of Connections Between Concrete Filled Steel Tube Columns and H-Beams)

  • The analytical studies included nonlinear finite element analysis of split-tee connection details subjected to axial load and lateral load. A three-dimensional model of the connections between CFT columns and H-beams has been developed. Both initial geometrical imperfections and residual stresses are taken into consideration. A geometrically nonlinear load-displacement analysis of the structure containing the imperfection is then performed, using the Riks method. Analytical results are compared with existing experimental results. Extensive parametric analyses are carried out to investigate the relation of the connections between CFT columns and H-beam to various parameters such as the axial load, column width-thickness ratio, and split-tee thickness.

  • The use of composite members to improve the compressive strength of steel structure is a common practice these days and its efficiency has already been proved by several researches and experiments. The result of concrete filled circular tubular(CFCT) stub column tests is introduced in this paper. The main parameter of this test is the ratio of diameter to thickness of circular hollow section. From the test results, the effect of concrete filled in steel tube on the ultimate strength, the deformation capacity and initial stiffness are discussed. The purpose of this paper is to investigate the effect of various parameters and evaluate the compressive strength of confined concrete. It would contribute to a better understanding of CFT structure, further laboratory experimentations are needed for better accurate estimation on its effect.
