  • Tube bending is an important factor of the hydroforming processes. The tube must be bent to the approximate centerline of the finished part prior to hydroforming to enable the tube to be placed in the die cavity. This paper presents the simulation results in prebending process by a rotary bending machne and a bend die that is used to form an automotive part a tie bar, Prebending simulation is carried out to obtain the shape change of cross section and thinning in bending process. To avoid occurring wrinkle in compressive zone during bending process a wiper die included,. A parametric study is carried out to obtain the effect of the forming parameters such as a bend radius and tube thickness

  • The bending process for the circular curved tube and rectangular curved tube with fins can be developed by the hot metal extrusion machine with the multiple punches moving in the different velocity. The bending phenomenon can be controlled by the two variables. The one of them is the difference of velocity at the die exit section by the different velocity of billets through the multi-hole container. The other is the one by the different hole diameter. The results of the experiment show that the circular curved tube with fins and rectangular curved tube with pins can be formed by the extrusion process and that the curveture of the product can be controlled by the velocity of punch and diameter of container hole and that the defects such as the distortion of section and the thickness change of the wall of tube the folding and wrinkling of thin tube and fins did not happen after the bending processing by the extrusion bending machine.

보강 알루미늄 사각관 보의 굽힘 성능평가 (Bending Performance Evaluation of Reinforced Aluminum Square Tube Beams)

  • Bending performances of aluminum square tube beams reinforced by aluminum plates under three point bending loads have been evaluated using experimental tests combined with theoretical and finite element analyses. A finite element simulation for the three-point bending test was performed. Basic properties of aluminum materials used for initial input data of the finite element simulation were obtained from the true stress-true strain curves of specimens which had been extracted from the Al tube beams. True stresses were determined from applied loads and cross-sectional area records of a tensile specimen with a rectangular cross-section by real-time photographing, and true strains were obtained from in-situ local elongation measurements of the specimen gage portion by the multi-point scanning laser extensometer. Six kinds of aluminum tube beam specimens adhered by aluminum plates were employed fur the bending test. The bending deformation behaviors up to the maximum load described by the numerical simulation were in good agreement with experimental ones. After passing the maximum load, reinforcing plate was debonded from the aluminum tube beam. An aluminum tube beam strengthened by aluminum plate on the upper web showed an excellent bending capability.

  • The bending phenomenon has been known to be occurred by the different of velocity at the die exit. The difference of velocity at the die exit section can be obtained by the different velocity of billets through the multi-hole container and by the cohesion of billet inside the porthole die chamber. The bending phenomenon can be controlled by the different hole diameter. The experiments using aluminium material for the curved tube product had been done. The results of the experiment show that the curved tube product can be formed by the extru-bending process without the defects such as the distortion of section and the thickness change of the wall of tube and the folding and wrinkling. It is known that the welding and extruding of each billet has done simultaneously although the curved tube is extruded with four billets.

  • Tube bending is one of the conventional manufacturing process. Recently, tube bending was highlighted in automotive industry by hydroforming. Tube hydroforming process is divided into pre-bending process and hydroforming process. It's initial state is very important in die cavity of first hydroforming process. So tube bending is important factor of the hydroforming process. In this paper, two pre-bending simulations, by a rotary draw bending machine and a bend die. This paper presents the simulation results in pre-bending process that is used to form an automotive part, tie-bar.

  • To evaluate the bending collapse behavior of an aluminum square tube, a finite element simulation for the four-point bending test was suggested. Local buckling deformation near the center of an aluminum tube specimen was induced which has been partly inserted by two steel bars. Simulation results showed good agreements with those of experiment.

  • This paper describes the results of experiments on the bending behavior of welded square tube structures for drive shaft sub frame of BIMODAL Tram. The used specimens to test were two different type made of ATOS60 and ST52-3. The square tube made of ST52-3 is the non-welded structure, while the square tube made of ATOS60 is the welded structure. The welded square tube made of ATOS60 will be applied for drive shaft sub frame of BIMODAL Tram. This welded square tube could reduce the manufacturing cost in comparison of non-welded square tube. The results showed that the bending performance of welded square tube made of ATOS60 was proven, and the bending behavior was in an good agreement with that of nonlinear finite element analysis.

  • This system is the automatic boiler tube bending equipment which has four heads for bending the tube and the carriage for moving the tube. The system consists of two frames for transporting each moving parts, high-frequency heating equipment for heating the tube in hot bending, control panel for inputting the job data operating, remote control unit for concetration and distribution of input/output, and the monitoring system which can establish unmanned operationby receiving the bending job data via LAN form a design teamwhich produces the job data and schedule based on master production plan and diagnoses bending data change, input, whole system status, and system malfunctions. By employing this system, 30% of production improvement was achieved was achieved comparing to the existing bending system.

  • Local buckling behaviors of aluminum square tube beams reinforced by aluminum plates under three point bending loads have been analyzed using experimental tests combined with theoretical and finite element analyses. For this analysis true stresses were determined from applied loads and cross-sectional area records of a tensile specimen with a rectangular cross-section by real-time photographing. True strains were also obtained from in-situ local elongation measurements of the specimen gage portion by the multi-point scanning laser extensometer. Six kinds of aluminum tube beam specimens reinforced by aluminum plates were employed for the bending test. The bending deformation behaviors up to the maximum load analyzed by the numerical simulation agreed well with experimental ones. After passing the maximum load, reinforcing plate hindering the local buckling of the tube beam was debonded from the aluminum tube beam. An aluminum tube beam strengthened by aluminum plate on the upper web showed the most excellent bending capacity, which could be explained on the basis of the neutral axis shift and the local buckling deformation range.
