TIME-DEPENDENT DEFORMATION OF POLYMER-BASED PROVISIONAL CROWN AND FIXED PARTIAL DENTURE MATERIALS

  • Statement of problem. One of the common problems of provisional crown and fixed partial denture materials is that when they are subjected to constant loads for a long period of time, they exhibit a dimensional change (creep). Purpose. The aim of this study was to investigate the viscoelastic behaviour of polymer-based provisional crown and fixed partial denture materials with time at constant compressive load. Material and methods. Three dimethacrylate-based materials (Protemp 3 Garant, Temphase, Luxatemp) and one monomethacrylate-based material (Trim) were selected. Dimensional changes of the specimens were recorded by a LVDT to evaluate their viscoelastic behavior and creep strain. For all specimens, two loading procedures were used. At first, static compressive stress of 4 MPa was applied for 30 minutes and followed by 1 hour of strain recovery. Then, after 24 hours of water storage, the specimens were loaded again. The creep values between materials were statistically analyzed using one-way ANOVA and multiple comparison $Scheff\acute{e}$ test. Independent samples t-test was also used to identify the difference of creep strain between first and secondary loading conditions at the significance level of 0.05. Results. Following application of the first loading, Trim showed the highest maximum creep strain (32.7%) followed by Luxatemp, Protemp 3 Garant and Temphase, with values of 3.78%, 2.86% and 1.77%, respectively. Trim was significantly different from other materials (P<0.05), while there were no significant differences among Luxatemp, Protemp 3 Garant and Temphase (P>0.05). The highest recovery and permanent set of Trim, were significantly different from those of others (P<0.05). At the secondary loading of the dimethacrylate-based materials, creep deformation, recovery and permanent set decreased and the percentage of recovery increased, while in Trim, all values of the measurements increased. This result showed that the secondary loading at 24 hours produced a significant creep magnitude. Conclusion. The dimethacrylate-based provisional crown and fixed partial denture materials showed significantly higher creep resistance and lower deformation than the monomethacrylate-based material. Thus, monomethacrylate-based materials should not be used in long-term stress-bearing situations.

모르핀내성시 뇌실내 NO 합성억제제 투여가 모르핀의 진통효과에 미치는 형향 (Supraspinal Nitric Oxide Synthesis Inhibition Enhanced Antinociception of Morphine in Morphine Tolerant Rats)

  • Background: Opioids such as morphine are widely used in the treatment for pain, but chronic treatment with morphine can be complicated by the development of tolerance. The mechnisms of tolerance were still not completely understood, but recently it has been reported that NOS inhibitors can prevent development of morphine tolerance in animals. The present study accessed the possible role of supraspinal NO on antinociceptive effect of morphine in morphine tolerance using a highly specific inhibitor of the neuronal isoform of NOS, 1-(2-trifluoromethylphenyl) imidazole (TRIM). Methods: Thirty two male SD rats (300 g) were prepared with intracerebroventricular (icv) and IV cannulae. We administrated IV morphine, 3 mg/kg, daily for 4 days, resulting in tolerance. On the fifth day, a challenge dose of morphine, 3 mg/kg, was administered following pretreatment with icv TRIM, $10{\mu}g$. We also evaluated the antinociceptive effect of icv TRIM alone and the effect on a single dose of morphine (3 mg/kg) in morphine nave rats. Antinociception from morphine was determined by response to intraplantar injection of 5% formalin $100{\mu}l$ was qualified as the number of flinches in the first 0-10 min (first phase), 10-40 min Phase IIa, and 40-60 min (Phase IIb). Results: Pretreatment with icv TRIM significantly enhanced the antinociceptive effects of systemically administered morphine in morphine tolerant rats. The antinociceptive effect of morphine in opioid nave rats was also significantly increased by pretreatment with icv TRIM. Conclusions: Our results further support the hypothesis that supraspinal NO modulates morphine-sensitive nociceptive process in morphine tolerance due to chronic intravenous administration.

  • 현재 자동차 실내공기질을 평가하는 방법이 ISO, 중국, 일본에서 개발 중에 있으며, 우리나라에서도 관리기준이 2010년 7월 1일 이후 생산한 신규제작자동차부터 적용되고 있다. 자동차 실내공기질을 관리하기 위해서는 자동차 실내의 내장부품으로부터 방출되는 휘발성 유기화합물을 평가하는 것이 중요하다. 이 연구에서는 모듈단위부품인 도어트림 모듈의 구성부품인 도어트림 암레스트를 ISO 12219-5방법에 따라 완제품을 평가 하였으며, ISO 12219-3방법으로 절단부품과 도어트림 구성소재를 평가하였다. Tenax TA가 충진된 스테인리스 튜브를 이용하여 VOC를 채취하여 TD-GC/MS를 이용하여 분석하였다. 두 시험방법을 비교한 결과 도어트림 암레스트로부터 방출되는 물질의 비율이 차이가 있음을 확인하였고, 도어트림 암레스트의 소재를 평가한 결과 PP substrate과 adhesive가 도어트림 암레스트에서 주요 방출원인 소재로 나타났다.

소형 고속선박의 항주자세 제어에 따른 저항성능 개선 및 축척 효과에 관한 연구 (A Study on the Scale Effect and Improvement of Resistance Performance Based on Running Attitude Control of Small High-Speed Vessel)

  • 본 연구에서는 Froude 수 1.0으로 운항하는 길이 약 10m 급 소형 고속선박의 에너지 효율 설계를 위해 선미부에 트림 탭을 부착하였고, 선저 면과의 각도에 따른 항주자세와 저항성능의 변화를 살펴보았다. 성능 해석은 CFD 해석을 통해 수행되었으며, 축척에 의한 영향을 보기 위해 모형선과 실선에 대해 각각 해석을 수행 후 두 결과로부터 예측된 실선의 성능을 비교하였다. 나선에 대한 해석 결과는 두 결과가 전반적으로 유사하였고, 트림 탭이 부착된 경우 선저 면과의 각도가 동일할 때 자세 변화량이 달라 전 저항의 차이로 이어졌지만 자세에 따른 저항 변화 경향은 유사하였다. 이로부터 축척 효과가 있더라도 저항 저감 경향으로부터 최적 항주자세를 찾을 수 있으나, 트림 탭에 의한 자세 변화와 실선 주위 유동의 특성을 알기 위해서는 실선에 대한 직접적인 해석이 필요함을 알 수 있다.

최적 트림 조건하에서 벌브개조를 통한 선박저항성능 개선 연구 (Numerical Simulation for Improvement in Resistance Performance by Bulb Retrofit under Optimal Trim Conditions)

  • 최근 국제해사기구의 해양환경오염규제가 강화되어 오고 있다. 선박의 에너지 효율지수는 선박의 설계관점에서 매우 중요한 지표이다. 더욱이 새롭게 건조되는 선박은 물론 기존 운항 선박에도 에너지 효율지수를 만족하도록 강화하고 있다. 이에 따라 운항되고 있는 기존선박의 에너지 효율지수를 높이기 위해 선수 벌브개조, 운항 중 트림 최적화, 에너지 절감장치등 다양한 방법이 적용되고 있다. 본 연구에서는 전산 유체역학을 이용하여 다양한 선수/선미 트림조건에서 선박의 저항성능을 계산하고 분석하였다. 이를 바탕으로 최적화 된 트림조건에서 선박의 저항성능을 더욱 개선하기 위해 선수 벌브의 형상을 재설계하였다. 그 결과 정수 중에서 개선된 벌브 형상을 적용한 경우, 유효마력이 약 5% 향상되는 것을 확인하였으며, 향후 파도 중에서 재설계된 벌브형상이 저항성능에 미치는 영향을 조사할 예정이다.

  • From first-order thin-ship theory, we can obtain the" wave resistance, wave amplitude functions, wave elevation along the hull, sinkage and trim of a ship moving with constant speed into calm water. Generally, these calculations of ship is called with Michell’s Theory, and there is all the difference between calculated wave resistance and residual resistance from conventional wave resis¬tance test. But, these calculated results are important reference materials for initial hull form design procedure. Various calculated results for Shearer’ s Model, Wigley’s Model and Series 60 4210W Model have been calculated using this theory. The results are compared with the corresponding experimental values, and the agreement between theoretical and experimental values is considered satisfactory.

  • The initial hull form of a 100 tan, 45 knot class high-speed craft is newly developed. The resistance performances are investigated using a model test at high speed in a circulating water channel. The effect of the initial trim is studied together. Wave patterns are observed to clarify the relationship between the resistance performance and the wave characteristics. It can be found that the initial trim plays a role in increasing the resistance performance above a certain velocity.

  • A nation have the regulation for a vehicle safety and interested in the side impact of a vehicle. But we spend a lot of money and time for the side impact test. So we must design a vehicle parts regard to the side impact test. This paper describes a new test method for side impact test. We used DFSS(Design For Six Sigma) process for design of door trim armrest. We searched the door trim armrest control factor and made the experiment plan. We researched the optimal design factor and improved the abdomen injury value of the human dummy.

  • In recent years, requests for automotive seat comfort are increasing. An important issue of them is long-term seat comfort. Until now, the study for long-term seat comfort has been studied mainly using driver's questionnaire, changing adrenalin and electromyography. Actually the results and methodologies of them are difficult to apply to seat development and design because of money and time required. In this study, we developed Seating Feel Curve for seat comfort evaluation and a long-term seat comfort evaluation which can be applied to the development of seat comfort using seat support.

  • Initial hull form of 10 G/T and 40 knots class coastal patrol boat is newly developed. The resistance performances are experimentally and numerically investigated by model test and CFD technique. The effect of initial trim and a fin attached at hull side are studied together. Wave patterns are observed to make clear the relation between the performance and the wave characteristics. It can be found that the initial trim plays a role in increasing the resistance performance above a certain velocity, and the CFD technique can be used at the initial design stage of a high-speed planning boats.
