Earthquake time-frequency analysis using a new compatible wavelet function family

  • Earthquake records are often analyzed in various earthquake engineering problems, making time-frequency analysis for such records of primary concern. The best tool for such analysis appears to be based on wavelet functions; selection of which is not an easy task and is commonly carried through trial and error process. Furthermore, often a particular wavelet is adopted for analysis of various earthquakes irrespective of record's prime characteristics, e.g. wave's magnitude. A wavelet constructed based on records' characteristics may yield a more accurate solution and more efficient solution procedure in time-frequency analysis. In this study, a low-pass reconstruction filter is obtained for each earthquake record based on multi-resolution decomposition technique; the filter is then assigned to be the normalized version of the last approximation component with respect to its magnitude. The scaling and wavelet functions are computed using two-scale relations. The calculated wavelets are highly efficient in decomposing the original records as compared to other commonly used wavelets such as Daubechies2 wavelet. The method is further advantageous since it enables one to decompose the original record in such a way that a clear time-frequency resolution is obtained.

Clinical Factors Influencing the Trial and Purchase of Bilateral Microphones with Contralateral Routing of Signal in Patients with Asymmetric Sensorineural Hearing Loss

  • Background and Objectives: Bilateral microphones with contralateral routing of signal (BiCROS) hearing aid is an option for hearing rehabilitation in individuals with asymmetric sensorineural hearing loss (ASNHL). The clinical factors influencing the trial and purchase of BiCROS were investigated. Subjects and Methods: We reviewed the medical records of 78 patients with ASNHL who were recommended to use BiCROS and analyzed the demographic and audiological factors influencing the trial and purchase of BiCROS. Results: Among the 78 patients, 52 (66.7%) availed of the free BiCROS trial and 21 (26.9%) purchased BiCROS. The mean pure tone audiometry (PTA) air conduction (AC) threshold of the better- and worse-hearing ears were 44.2±12.8 dB and 90.7±22.5 dB HL, respectively. The decision for trial or purchase of BiCROS was not influenced by age, sex, duration of hearing loss of the worse-hearing ear, or PTA AC threshold or speech discrimination score of both ears. The first and third quartiles of the PTA AC thresholds for the better-hearing ear of BiCROS buyers were 38.75 dB and 53.75 dB HL, respectively. The counterpart values for the worse-hearing ear were 72.50 dB and 118.75 dB HL, respectively. Conclusions: The clinical factors analyzed in this study were found to be irrelevant to the trial and purchase of BiCROS in patients with ASNHL. Nevertheless, the distribution range of the auditory thresholds of the subjects using BiCROS can be a useful basis for the counseling of patients with ASNHL and selection of candidates for BiCROS use.

  • In order to investigate remotely the behavior and distribution of fishes, the telesounder system which was composed of two parts with a buoy station at sea and a base station on land was manufactured trial. The buoy station at sea consists of fishfinder, transmission interface and transceiver. On the other hand, the base station on land consist of transceiver, receiving interface, trigger/signal separator and color display monitor. The system simulation for the performance of telesounder was carried out by use of echo simulator which could input echo signal into fishfinder. The received power (dBm) of transceiver at 29.4MHz decreased almost in proportion to distance between transmitter and receiver, and the electric field intensity was 12.12mV/m at 100 meters distance from transmitter. The image of color display monitor at the base station on land was very well coincident with the records of fishfinder from the buoy station located at sea. Therefore, it is concluded that the telesounder system is very useful in the analysis of the information on the behavior and the distribution of fishes detected from sea.

자체점검 도구 개발을 위한 지적사항 및 임상연구의 품질에 작용하는 요인 분석 (Analysis of Indicated Points and Main Factors Affecting the Quality of Clinical Research for the Development of Internal Audit Tools)

  • Purpose: To obtain fundamental data on selection tools for an internal audit and develop a new guideline. We scored the indicated points from the internal audit, identified the research progress and problems that occurred, and confirmed the validity of the risk factors involved. Methods: Of the 63 internal audits conducted by Keimyung University Dongsan Hospital from 2014 to 2021, we analyzed 55 clinical trials with an inspection checklist. We excluded 8 that failed to transfer data and refused to comply with the internal audit. The statistical summary of the collected data was verified and interpreted by using frequency analysis and a chi-square test. Result: Of total 55 cases included in the internal audit, sponsor-initiated trial (SIT) was 63.6% (vs. investigator-initiated trial [IIT]), clinical trial for investigational drug was 71.0% (vs. nonclinical or clinical trial for investigational device), domestic multicenter trial was 60.0% (vs. single center or multinational multicenter trial), and trial requisition for MFDS approval was 69.1% (vs. exception for MFDS approval). The 10 areas of the clinical trial inspection checklist (reports, protection of subjects, compliance with protocols, records, management of investigational drug and/or device, delegation of duties, qualification of investigators, management of specimen, contract-agreement and approval of protocols, and preservation of recorded documents) were weighted between 2 to 5 points. The average of the total points was 16.09±13.2 and 20 clinical trials were above the average. As a result of comparing the average of the total points weighted by year, the highest score was in 2020. The 4 factors that play significant roles in determining the internal quality were (1) principal subjects that initiated the clinical trials (p=0.049), (2) type (p=0.003), (3) phase of clinical trials (p=0.024), and (4) number of registered subjects reported at the time of continuing deliberation (p=0.019). Of the 10 areas of the clinical trial inspection checklist, 'record' was the most inappropriate and insufficient. We found more indicated points; the quality of performance declined in IIT, nonclinical trials, and other clinical trials that were not in phase I1-IV4, and the study of more than 30 registered subjects at the time of continuing review. Conclusion: If an institution has an internal audit selection tool that reflects the aforementioned risk factors, it will be possible to effectively manage high-risk studies; thereby, contributing to an efficient internal audit and improving the quality of clinical trials.

Construction of morphological filter for single trial recording of event-related potentials

  • We constructed morphological filter for single sweep records of event-related potential (ERP), especially P300 waveform. By combining 4 basic operations; erosion, dilation, opening and closing, we can derive any desired filters whose property fits the current objectives. The morphological filter for single sweep records of ERP was constructed by taking account of the features of the signal and noise components. The morphological filter has superior properties of separating the signal ancl the noise even existing within a same frequency band. The constructed morphological filter was tested by using simulation data of ERP and then applied to actual ERP data of a normal subject. The results proved that the constructed morphological filter was an appropriate tool for single sweep records of ERP.

진료기록과 오픈노트(Open Notes)에 대한 병원 종사자들의 인식과 태도 (Hospital Workers' Awareness and Attitude Towards Medical Records and OpenNotes)

  • 오픈노트는 환자-의사 간 온라인 진료기록 공유라고 정의할 수 있으며, 환자가 자신의 진료기록에 언제든 접근할 수 있도록 허용한 시도이다. 진료기록의 확장으로써 오픈노트 도입의 필요성을 확인하기 위해, 본 연구는 의료서비스의 일부를 담당하는 병원 종사자를 대상으로 진료기록과 오픈노트에 대한 인식과 태도를 조사하였다. 연구 결과 자신의 진료기록을 읽어보는 것은 건강상태를 이해하는데 도움이 되며, 병원 종사자들은 오픈노트의 유용성에 대체로 동의하였고 참여의향이 있는 것으로 나타났다. 한편 대상자들은 진료기록이 위·변조될 가능성이 있다고 인식하였다. 결론적으로 환자가 자신의 진료기록을 자유롭게 읽어보도록 허용함으로써 건강상태를 이해하고 자가건강관리를 향상시킬 수 있으며, 진료기록에 대한 불필요한 오해와 불신을 해소할 수도 있다. 오픈노트의 건강상의 효용성 뿐 만 아니라 의사에 대한 신뢰에 미치는 영향을 생각할 때, 실험적 검증을 위한 오픈노트 시범사업을 제언한다.

수사관의 심증이 조서의 왜곡에 미치는 영향 (The Effect of Investigator's Belief about Veracity of Suspect on Distortions of Paper Records)

  • 진술증거는 범죄수사와 형사재판에서 사실을 확정하는 데 사용되는 중요한 증거방법 중 하나다. 현행 형사소송법은 피의자 등의 진술을 조서에 기록한 후, 일정한 요건 하에 그 조서를 재판의 증거로 사용하도록 하고 있다. 그런데 조서에 각종 왜곡이 있어 실체적 진실발견을 저해한다는 지적이 지속적으로 제기되고 있다. 이에 본 연구는 조서작성 단계에 관한 실험연구를 통해 조서 왜곡의 원인으로 거론되는 요인 중 '수사관의 심증'이 갖는 효과를 밝혀 보고자 하였다. 참여자는 경찰수사관 90명이었고, 참여자들을 유죄심증, 무죄심증 및 중립심증의 세 가지 조건에 30명씩 할당한 후, 모의 신문영상을 보면서 조서를 작성하도록 하였다. 연구 결과, 유죄심증 집단이 무죄심증 및 중립심증 집단보다 조서를 더 많이 왜곡한다는 사실, 조서의 왜곡은 조작 형태보다 생략 형태가 더 빈번하다는 사실, 신문사항의 특성에 따라 왜곡의 빈도가 다르다는 사실 등이 확인되었다. 논의에서는 수사기록에 의한 심증 처치, 조서 왜곡의 코딩 기준 마련 등 연구의 의의와 모의 신문상황의 규범적·현실적 타당도 결여 등 연구의 제약점을 설명하고, 약간의 정책적 제언을 첨언하였다.

경성지방법원 검사국 기록과 '사상부(思想部)'의 설치 (Records of the Prosecutor's Office at Gyeongseong District Court(京城地方法院檢事局) and Set up the Department of Ideology(思想部))

  • 고려대학교 아세아문제연구소의 '구 조선총독부 경무국 항일 독립운동관계 비밀기록'과 국사편찬위원회의 '경성지방법원 재판기록'(A)과 '경성지방법원(검사국) 편철문서'(B)는 경성지방법원 검사국이 접수 또는 작성하여 보관한 동일한 기록군이다. 'A'는 경성지방법원 검사국의 사건기록, 'B'는 동 검사국의 서무기록이며, 아세아문제연구소의 기록은 동 검사국의 사건기록과 서무기록이 함께 수집된 것이다. '사상' 탄압 통제와 관련된 내용이 많으며, 편철자명이나 열람자 보고자명, 접수문서의 분류로 보건대, 생산자는 경성지방법원 검사국 '사상부(思想部)'인 것 같다. 경성지방법원 검사국 서무기록에는 1925년 치안유지법 시행과 1928년 사상계 검사 배치, 사상부 설치라는 변화 과정이 담겨 있다. 이전에 비해 관할 경찰서의 일상적인 정보 보고가 많아졌고, 내용이 사상에 집중되었다. 사상 정보는 일반 민정(民情)에서 분리되었으며, '사상(계)' 우선의 기록관리가 이뤄졌다. 이제 검찰의 사무는 사상과 사상 아닌 것으로 나눠지며 전자에 비해 후자는 '경미'한 것으로 치부되었다. 또한 전 조선과 일본의 지방검사국 간에 사상사건 정보의 공유체계가 구축되었고, 간도관련 정보의 수집이 늘었다.

AI 기반의 발파진동 계수 예측 및 보정계수 산정에 관한 연구 (Prediction and Determination of Correction Coefficients for Blast Vibration Based on AI)

  • 발파공법을 이용한 터널 건설 시 발생하는 진동을 최소화할 수 있는 폭약량의 결정을 위해서는 현장에서 시험발파, 혹은 유사조건에서의 진동기록을 분석하여 발파진동계수 K, n을 도출해야 한다. 본 연구에서는 시험발파를 수행하지 못할 경우, 합리적인 K 및 n을 도출할 수 있는 기법의 개발을 목적으로 하였다. 이를 위해 실규모 시험발파 자료를 수집한 후, 심층학습(DL)을 활용하여 화약류의 종류, 심발공법, 암반의 성인 및 종류, 암반등급에 따라 발파진동계수(K, n)를 예측할 수 있는 방법을 연구하였다. 또한 시추공 시험발파 결과의 한계성을 보완하고, 현실에 좀 더 부합하는 설계 수행을 목적으로 실규모 및 시추공 시험발파 결과 간의 보정값을 산정하였다. 본 연구결과 시추공 시험발파 결과식에 따른 사용 가능한 폭약량을 비교하였을 경우, 심층학습(DL)에 의한 결과는 50%이상, 보정값을 반영한 결과는 기타 발파진동 추정식과 유사하거나 약 20% 더 사용할 수 있어서 보다 경제적 설계가 가능하였다.
