Statement of the problem: The cold-cured resins used in fabrication of the provisional crown and fixed partial dentures could cause pulpal damage by heat generated during exothermic polymerization reactions. Purpose: In this in vitro study investigates the how external conditions such as material of the matrix, thickness of the matrix and thickness of dentin affect the temperature of the tooth during polymerization reaction of the cold-cured resins. Material and methods : To measure the temperature of the resin, metal die was maintained to the temperature of $37^{\circ}C$ with water bath to simulate the temperature of thetooth and thermocouple was placed in the center of the metal die. Acrylic pipe was cut in height of 1, 2, 3, 6, 10 mm and placed on the metal die and mixed resin was pored in the acrylic pipe As the resin polymerized temperature was recorded with the thermometer. Temperature of the resin using matrix was recorded by using the individual tray relieved in different thickness 2, 5, 7, 10 mm. The material of the matrix was irreversible hydrocolloid impression material, vinyl polysilloxane impression material and vacuum-formed template Temperature rise of the resin using different thickness of tooth section was record ed by placing tooth section on the metal die and placing resin over the tooth section. Results : Conclusion : 1. Temperature rise increased as the thickness of the resin increased but there was no significant differences over 3 mm thickness of the resin. 2. The lowest temperature rise was showed in irreversible hydrocolloid impression material and vinyl polysilloxane impression material vacuum-formed template as in orders. 3, Temperature rise of the resin decreased regardless of the thickness of the matrix when vinyl polysilloxane impression material was used as the matrix. 4 When irreversible hydrocolloid impression material was used as matrix, the temperature rise of the resin decreased as the thickness of the matrix increased and there was no temperature rise when thickness of the matrix reached 10 mm, 5. The temperature rise of the resin did not decreased when Polypropylene vacuum-formed template was used as the matrix. 6, The temperature of the resin increased as the thickness of the dentin decreased.

This study was conducted to investigate the effect of grafting methods on plug seedling quality, growth after transplanting, and yield of oriental melon that those seedlings were raised in the 32 hole plug tray for protected cultivation. Number of leaf and leaf area in approach grafting were higher until 15 days after grafting but lower on 20 days after grafting. Plant height, stem diameter and content of chlorophyll were nearly the same of each grafting methods on 20 days after grafting. Growth of top part, that is, plant height, leaf number, and leaf area on root removed single cotyledon ordinary splice grafting was the highest among the grafting methods. In the underground part, dry weight of root was high and T/R ratio was the lowest. Seedling quality of root removed single cotyledon ordinary splice grafting was the highest among grafting methods before transplanting. Plant height, number of leaf, leaf area and dry weight of root removed single cotyledon ordinary splice grafting in the growth of field were the highest on 30 days after grafting among grafting methods and days required for first flowering was also shorter, 38.4 days among grafting methods. But Fruit weight, content of soluble solids, fruit hardness, and color characteristics in fruit quality were insignificant among each grafting methods. Consequently, grafting methods influenced on the seedling quality, of oriental melon early growth after transplanting and yields. It was concluded that root removed single cotyledon ordinary splice grafting was the best methods in present study. It will be needed to convert grafting methods. Thus new grafting method should be applied.

This study was carried out to investigate the effect of several subtrates on the growth of cucumber and tomato seedlings. Cucumber and tomato seeds were sown in plug trays that were filled with eight differenct kinds of substrates. One of them was filled with recycled rockwool by 100%. The other six were mixed with used rockwool media:several ratios of recycled rockwool+peatmoss (1:1, 1:2, 1:3, v/v) and recycled rockwool+chestnut wood ships (1:1, 1:2, 1:3, v/v), and the last was 100% chestnut wood chips. The growth of cucumber and tomato seedlingsin 72 plug tray was better in recycled rockwool+peatmoss (1:2, v/v) substrates that the others tested. CEC 9cation exchange capacity) and EC was a little higher in mixed substrates that blended with organic media. But 100% chestnut wood chips and mixed ones with recycled rockwool inhibited severely the growth of seedlings, especially in tomatos. Therefore, it is suggested that the recycled rockwool be capable of utilization to raise seedlings of cucumber and tomato.
This study was carried out to determine the effect of raising seedling at Hallasan area of sub-alpine (altitude of 600m above sea level) to improve fruiting.ate of Squash (Cucurbita maxima) in retarding culture. 'Ebis' cultivar was seeded in plug tray of 32 cells and the seedlings were grown for 25 days. They were transplanted on August 26, 2004, following L-stem training method under rain-shielding condition. Seedling height, number of nodes and leaf area were higher in lowland than in sub-alpine area. T/R ratio of seedling in sub-alpine was much lower as compared with that in the lowland. The first fruiting was on the 19th node in sub-alpine area, and on the 26th node in the lowland area(control). The succeeding fruiting nodes were lower by 3 to 5 node than those of control. Fruiting rate of second flower was improved by 17.2% compared with the 1.4% in control. The marketable yield was increased by 27% by raising seedling in sub-alpine area (4,460 kg/10a). This also brought out 20% labour saving effect. The environmental condition for raising seedling in the sub-alpine area of Hallasan was effective for the improvement of Squash (Cucurbita maxima) fruiting rate compared with lowland area.

Cabbage (Baechu) Kimchi in its truncated form was placed in four different packing materials, Ny/PE/LLDP, OPP/AL/PE, PP and PET, and quality changes were observed during storage. Changes in pH and total acidity showed an x-shaped cross-curve as pH decreased and total acidity increased during storage. PP tray showed the slowest change at $5^{\circ}C$ with time. The pH was initially 6.25, but decreased to 4.12~4.16 at 20 days, and total acidity showed a 4 to 4.8-fold increase after 20 days of storage compared to the initial value. During storage at $5^{\circ}C$, total bacterial count and lactic acid bacterial count rapidly increased after 4 days. The total bacterial quantity decreased after a period of time and there were differences according to packaging material; OPP/AL/PE packaging showed the most dramatic decrease. Change in microbial count mostly followed a similar pattern to that of total acidity for all packaging materials. Changes in the color of Kimchi liquid, when examined by color index in $L{\cdot}b$/a form, rapidly decreased over time, similar to pH. Small Ny/PE/PP and OPP/AL/PE packages of Kimchi were examined for changes in free volume inside the packaging. After 13 days of storage at $5^{\circ}C$, the volume was 243 mL, but storage at $20^{\circ}C$ resulted in a volume of 372 mL, a more than 1.5-fold increase in free volume. There were changes in the quality characteristics of small package Kimchi according to storage temperature and packaging material, and large changes in pH, total acidity, and microbial count were evident upon storage at $5^{\circ}C$ for 8 days, which was the optimum palatability period. Mostly, PP treatment showed the slowest quality changes upon storage at $5^{\circ}C$. However, due to small package Kimchi's fast consumption system, the appropriate choice of packaging material must consider the product's turnover ratio. Further, the varieties of small package Kimchi should be diversified according to different consumer preferences by offering Kimchi with different maturity levels. Further, since the leading consumer base ranges in age from the teens to thirties, the development of various products targeting such consumers is necessary.

The research was carried out to investigate a total polyphenol content, antioxidant activity, amino acid and resveratrol content of peanut sprouts (cotyledon, epicotyl, leaf, hypocotyl, root), in different light (white, blue, red, F-red, UV-A, UV-B, UV-C) conditions for 24 hours. Peanut seeds were sown on a $27.5{\times}15.9{\times}13cm$ tray and grown at the $25^{\circ}C$ under the dark condition for 14 days. Total polyphenolic contents of epicotyl and leaf were about 288mg GAE/100g in blue light. The DPPH radical scavenging of cotyledon and hypocotyl were 1.3~1.5 times (63%) and 2 times (40%) compared to control (43%, 19%), respectively. As to ABTS activity, its activity was increased by all LEDs treatment, Especially, the highest ABTS activity of the hypocotyl and leaf was shown as 99.1% in blue light. The essential amino acid content of hypocotyl and leaf was increased 1.9 times in the UV-B, 1.6 times in red, and 1.5 times in F-red, respectively. The non-essential amino acid content was increased by all LEDs treatment in hypocotyl and leaf. The content of resveratrol was increased by 1.3 times in UV-B compared to that of other tissues. Assessing inclusively, this study showed that there was a significantly positive effect between increase of physiological substance activity and LED light treatment, resulting in stably producing peanut sprouts. Therefore, a material treated with LEDs is thought to be useful as a functional food resources.

In recent years the growth rates of world agricultural production and crop yields have slowed because of rapid urbanization but the agriculture mechanization implies the use of various power sources and improved farm tools and equipment to enhance the efficiency of utilization of various crop input. Therefore the current study was conducted to investigate the growth characteristics of seedlings treated with plant growth regulators for the production of seeds suitable for mechanical formulations of soybeans and red beans. The seeds of Uram bean and Arary red bean were sown in 128 well plug tray as the testing varieties. Three growth inhibitors such as 0.05% hexaconazole, prohexadion-calcium, and 0.1% diniconazole were treated and fifteen representative plants were collected from each treatment at 2, 5, 7, 13, 16, 17, 19, and 20 days interval after treatment. The collected plants were examined for the growth atributes such as plant height, root length, leaf area and chlorophyll. The growth promoter was treated at the 13th day after treatment with growth inhibitor and treated with 0.1% concentration of Pomina ($GA_{4+7}$ 1.8% + 6-benzylaminopurine 1.8%) and Nonaji (gibberellic acid 2% + $GA_{4+7}$ 2%). Initially the growth data was recorded to examine the effect of growth inhibitor, while after treatment with growth promoters, the growth attributes were recorded at 4th and 7th day. As a result of measuring the growth parameter of soybean, the inhibitory effect was shown in the aerobic treatment at the ground level at the 7th day after treatment. At the 4th day of growth promoting agents treatment, the stimulation effect of non - treated plants was greater than that of formalin treatments. As a result of measuring the growth attributes of red bean, In the latter part of the growth, at the 4th day after the growth promoter treatment. This study was able to confirm the effective growth regulators and treatment periods for each crop, and it was possible to control the growth of seedlings. Based on these results, it can be expected that the basis of seedling production technology of crops which is necessary for sowing and transplantation mechanization of agriculturle field can be established.
The storage quality of fresh Sulhyang strawberries packaged under modified atmospheres was investigated to examine the effect of high $O_2$ on the fruit. Fresh strawberries were packed into PP trays and top-sealed with PET/PP film. Initial gas compositions inside the packages were varied with air, 40% $O_2$/60% $N_2$, 60% $O_2$/40% $N_2$, and 80% $O_2$/20% $N_2$. Sealed packages in PE film bags with air and perforated PP trays were also used as another treatment and control, respectively. Quality attributes and viable cell counts of pathogenic bacteria were assessed during storage at $5^{\circ}C$ for 12 days. High $O_2$ concentration showed no significant effects on the physicochemical and microbial qualities of strawberries. Fruit packaged in PE film bags with 6-15% $O_2$ and 7-9% $CO_2$ during storage had the lowest viable cell counts of inherent microorganisms among the treatment samples. Growth of pathogenic bacteria was suppressed in perforated packages where molds occurred frequently. In an overall sensory aspect, the PE film packages exhibited higher scores than the others at the end of storage period. The experimental results suggested that gas-permeable film packaging with an appropriate combination of $O_2$ and $CO_2$ rather than gas-barrier tray packaging with an initially high $O_2$ concentration would be suitable for improving the storability of strawberries.

This research was carried out to establish a mass-production method and to develop ornamental Gramineae species as cash crops for famers as three species of ornamental grasses were used for seed treatment and plug production. Germination rates of Arundinella hirta were improved to 52.6% by soaking in 4% NaOCl for 60 min and 49.4% with 4% NaOH for 30 min. Germination rates of Panicum virgatum were 20.3% and 22.4% when treated with 4% NaOCl for 10 min and 2% NaOH for 60min treatment, respectively. Pennisetum alopecuroides showed germination rates higher than 98% with both 4% of NaOCl and NaOH for 60 min. When the same size of trays were used, Pennisetum showed faster plug formation in 21 and 30 days with 162 and 40 cell trays, respectively. Arundinella showed a similar trend with Pannicum in completing plug formation, those took 32, 41, and 44 days with the 162, 72, and 40 cell tray, respectively. Plug production was faster with smaller cells; however, total growing period was longer with larger cells in general.
