As rock bolts become one of the main support systems in tunnels and underground structures, the integrity of the rock bolts affects the safety of these types of structures. The purpose of this study is the evaluation of rock bolt integrity using Fourier and wavelet transforms of the guided ultrasonic waves. After five rock bolt specimens with various defect ratios are embedded into a large scale concrete block, guided waves are generated by a PZT (lead zirconate titanate) element and measured by an acoustic emission (AE) sensor. The captured signals are analyzed in the frequency domain using the Fourier transform, and in the time-frequency domain using the wavelet transform based on a Gabor wavelet. The spectrum obtained from the Fourier transform shows that a portion of high frequency contents increases with increase in the defect ratio. Peak values in the time-frequency domain represent the interval of travel time of each echo. The energy velocities of the guided waves increase with the defect ratio. This study shows that the spectrum ratio and the energy velocity may be indicators fur the evaluation of rock bolt integrity.
The purpose of this study was to survey the degree of awareness and practice concerning prenatal care among Korean women. In this study, 626women in Seoul, Sungnam City, and Yangju Kun were randomly selected to be given a questionare that was formulated by the researcher. The statistical analysis of the data was obtained by percentage scores and $X^2$ scores on each item by age, educational background, and regional areas. The general out come of the study were as follows. A. The Practice of Prenatal Care 1. Physical Activities: Concerning the hard work, about a half of the women took care of it by themselves, and the others treated it with help. Also it was found that they tried to reduce the amount of travel as much as possible during pregnancy. 2. Dietary Intake: It was revealed that no significant change were observed before and during pregnancy. 3. Drugs: It was revealed that they tried to avoid drugs as much as possible during pregnancy. 4. Emotion: About a half of the women said that the family atmosphere did not change before and during pregnancy. The others said it had improved after pregnancy. In their spare time, most pregnant women rested in bed, read books, and listened to music. 5. Husband's Support: Most of the women expressed that they needed thief-husband's support absolutely, especially with hard work. They moderated the sexual activities when they found that they were pregnant. B. Degree of awareness for Prenatal Care 1. Perception of Prenatal Care: Most women heard about prenatal care at least one time through family, friend, or mass-media. 2. Necessity of Prenatal Care: Most women recognized the necessity of prenatal care, and they thought that the relaxation of body and mind was important during pregnancy. 3. Influence of Prenatal Care: It was revealed that most women recognized the positive influence of prenatal care to the neonate. 4. Practice of Prenatal Care: It shown that the most of pregnant women took serious interest in prenatal care and they tended to be careful during pregnancy. Generally speaking, the difference in educational background seemed to affect most to the pregnant women's awareness and practice of prenatal care: the higher the educational achievement, the more cautious about the prenatal care. The difference in region seemed to affect considerably in most aspects of practice: women in urban areas preceeded the rural women in prenatal care. The age difference seemed to affect least in their prenatal care except the younger generation took more care in avoiding the use of drugs.

To make popular the NEV(Neighborhood Electric Vehicles) uses, it must be considered the supply of infrastructure and the political decision for NEV. However, the guidelines of infrastructure for NEV are not prepared. The guidelines of infrastructure for NEV should be performed in many research and case. The purpose of this study is to reveal the influence of NEV on the two-lane highway traffic flows by TWOPAS simulation model. The main items to check the influence are Average Travel speed, Percent Time Spent Following and Total Delay. The scenario were setup by traffic volume. And the NEV percentages are changed from 1% ~ 30%. The scenario 1 which traffic volume are 650veh/h and the scenario 4 which traffic volume are 2,600veh/h are less influenced by NEV, compare to scenario 2, scenario 3. Because the scenario 1 is more free to make passing other cars and Scenario 4 is fully saturated with existing traffic volumes. The urban two-lane highway which has much traffic volume and the rural two-lane highway which has little traffic volume has affinity for NEV than the other two-lane highway.

The purpose of this study is to investigate the distribution patterns of displacement and acceleration fields in a nonlinear soil ground based on the interaction of high-speed train, wheel, rail, and ground. For this purpose, a high-speed train in motion was modeled as the actual wheel, and the vertical contact of wheel and rail and the lateral contact, caused by meandering motion, were simulated; this simulation was based on the moving mass analysis. The soil ground part was given the nonlinear behavior of the upper ground part by using the modified the Drucker-Prager model, and the changes in displacement and acceleration were compared with the behavior of the elastic and inelastic grounds. Using this analysis, the displacement and acceleration ranges close to the actual ground behavior were addressed. Additionally, the von-Mises stress and equivalent plastic strain at the ground were examined. Further, the equivalent plastic and total volumetric strains at each failure surface were examined. The variation in stresses, such as vertical stress, transverse pressure, and longitudinal restraint pressure of wheel-rail contact, with the time history was investigated using moving mass. In the case of nonlinear ground model, the displacement difference obtained based on the train travel is not large when compared to that of the elastic ground model, while the acceleration is caused to generate a large decrease.

The purpose of this study was to propose the most cost-effective sampling method, by analyzing the cost of forest resource investigation per sampling method for the planned harvesting area of in Chunyang-myeon, Byeonghwa-gun, Gyeongsangbuk-do, Korea. For this study, three sampling methods were selected: random sampling method, systematic sampling method, and line transect method. For each method, sample size, hourly wage, number of sample points, survey time, travel time, the sample error rate of the estimated average volume, and the desired sampling error rate were used to calculate the cost of forest resource inventories. Thus, 10 sampling points were extracted for each sampling method, and the factors required for cost analysis were calculated via a field survey. As a result, the field survey cost per ha using the random sampling method was found to be have the lowest cost, regardless of the desired sampling error rate, followed by the systematic sampling method, and the line transect method.

The purpose of this study is to contribute the use of special taxi for the transportation vulnerable such as elderly and pregnant woman in terms of improving transportation mobility and extending social participation. We analyzed the DB users of STS system operating in Suwon, and surveyed the preference statement. Specifically, we have built transportation mode choice models for the elderly and pregnant woman, and then we drew the activating STS plan by comparing influence factors for each model. Based on the results of the study, 23% of STS user was the elderly people and pregnant women, 31% of user was for hospital passage purpose, and short-haul passage within 2 ~ 5km was 70% level of the passage. According to preference survey results between STS and Bus, fare was the highest impact factor in the mode choices for the elderly, and the participants who are older and car owners have been found to prefer the special taxi. For the pregnant woman, travel time and fare were the main influence factors of choices, and it was discovered that they preferred the special taxi when they are car owners and trips was frequented. Also, if the fare of special taxi is about 70% of the regular taxi fare, The share rates of Special Taxi comparing to bus for the elderly and pregnant woman are analyzed to be 51.1% and 63.6% each. Therefore, the adjustment of the fare would be effective to encourage the use of the special taxi. The results of this study can be used as a basis for establishing the rational fare structure of the special taxi.

Recently, TOD gains popularity as a traffic solution measure of high density urban regeneration projects. The purpose of this study is to investigate traffic impacts of high density TOD projects, and to identify the issues to be resolved. For a case study, it chooses Gangnamgucheong station in Gangnam area served by two subway lines, and designates 400m radius from the station as a site for high-density development. The MOEs chosen for this study is traffic volume, time, distance, speed, and mode share. The SECOM model is adopted for traffic simulation. The analysis results show that high-density TOD is an effective tool for traffic improvement even with only one station area being implemented. It is found that the traffic volume increases near the station in nature where high-density development occurs, but it declines overall in the rest of Gangam area. The total travel time and distance of passenger vehicles decline, meaning that the traffic condition becomes better than before. With regulation on parking supply, the improvement becomes more vivid. In terms of the changes of traffic speed, both alternatives show 4.1% increase in speed, but the difference between alternatives is not quite noticeable because of the induced vehicle demand driven to the streets with improved traffic condition. The mode share changes occur for the benefit of subway ridership, because the study station is equipped with two subway line services. When mixed with parking supply restriction, the impact becomes clearer.

This study analyzes the network structure of the Metropolitan Seoul subway system by applying complex network analysis methods. For the purpose, we construct the Metropolitan Seoul subway system as a network graph, and then calculate various indices introduced in complex network analysis. Structural characteristics of Metropolitan Seoul subway network are discussed by these indices. In particular, this study determines the shortest paths between nodes based on the weighted distance (physical and time distance) as well as topological network distance, since urban travel movements are more sensitive for them. We introduce an accessibility measurement based on the shortest distance both in terms of physical distance and network distance, and then compare the spatial structure between two. Accessibility levels of the system have been getting up overall, and thus the accessibility gaps have been getting lessen between center located subway stops and remote ones during the last 10 years. Passenger traffic volumes are explored from real passenger transaction databases by utilizing data mining techniques, and mapped by GIS. Clear differences reveal between the spatial patterns of real passenger flows and accessibility. That is, passenger flows of the Metropolitan Seoul subway system are related with population distribution and land use around subway stops as well as the accessibility supported by the subway network.
In school science class, actual geological field trips tend to be restricted due to a number of problems including travel distance, cost, safety, and so on. Therefore, alternative way should be sought to provide students with the benefits of actual field trip. The purpose of this study is to develop web-based virtual field trip (VFT) about Jeju island in Korea by using flash panorama, and to explore a variety of ways to utilize the VFT. The characteristics of Jeju VFT are as follows: it provides virtual space for secondary school students to learn about volcanic topography and geology; students can access contents in a non-sequential order by virtue of web-based system, and students can control learning pace according to their ability; it is possible to investigate the same field site repeatedly, not limited by time and space; it presents differentiated worksheets for different school grade; it provides diverse complementary web contents, e. g., closeup features, thin sections, inquiry questions, and explanations of outcrops. We proposed several ways with instructional models to utilize Jeju VFT in science class and extra-school curricular as well.
Purpose: Maximizing human comfort in design of medical environments depends immensely on specialized architects particularly critical care design; the study proposes Evidence-Based Design as an apparent analog to Evidence-Based Medicine. Healthcare facility designs are substantially based on the findings of study in an effort to design environments that augment care by improving patient safety and being therapeutic. On SPSS (Statistical Package for Social Science) t-test is applied to simulate two independent variables of PDR (Pre Design-Research) and POE (Post- Occupancy Evaluation). PDR is conducted on relatively new hospital Hallym University Dongtan Sacred Heart Hospital to analyse visibility from researchers' point of view, here the ICU is arranged in I-Shape. POE is applied on Dongguk University Ilsan Hospital to simulate walking on LogWare where two NS are designed based on L- Shape and Seoul St. Mary's Hospital, The Catholic University of Korea where five NS are functional for ICU Intensive Care Unit, Surgical Intensive Care Unit (SICU), Medical Intensive Care Unit (MICU), Critical Care Unit (CCU), Korean Oriental Medical Care Unit which are mostly arranged in U-Shape, and walking pattern is recognized to be in a zigzag path. Method: T-Test is applied on two dependent communication variables: walkability and visibility, with confidence interval of 95%. This study systematically analyses the Nurse Station (NS) typo-morphology, and simulates nurse horizontal circulation, by computing round route visits to patient's bed, then estimating minimum round route on LogWare stop sequence software. The visual connectivity is measured on depth map graphs. Hence the aim is to reduce staff stress and fatigue for better patients care by minimizing staff horizontal travel time and to facilitate nurse walk path and support space distribution by increasing effectiveness in delivering care. Result: Applying visibility graph and isovist field on space syntax on I- Shape, L- Shape and U- Shape ICU (SICU, MICU and CCU) configuration, I-shape facilitated 20% more patients in linear view as they stir to rise from their beds from nurse station compared to U-shape. In conclusion, it was proved that U-Shape supply minimum walking and maximum visibility; and L shape provides just visibility as the nurse is at pivot. I shape provides panoramic view from the Nurse Station but very rigorous walking.
