  • This paper deals with the comparison of magnetic characteristics in transverse flux rotary machine according to different stator core composition with the same rotor. Three different stator designs are considered in the analysis according to the material composition of inner and outer stator cores. Electromotive force (EMF), inductance, torque, and core losses are calculated by threedimensional finite element analysis. Calculated and measured results of back-EMF according to the analysis models in dependency on speed are presented.

  • On this study, we optimized maximizing the thrust force at the TFLM(Transverse Flux Linear Motor) using design of experiments by the table of orthogonal array and the analysis of means(ANOM), and classified the most contributive design factor maximizing the thrust force at the TFLM by analysis of variance(ANOVA). From now on, we are going to apply the required technique to design various uses and shapes of the TFLM.

  • Thrust force of linear motor is one of the important factor to specify motor performance. In this study, we optimized maximizing the thrust force of TFLM(Transverse Flux Linear Motor) using Response Surface Methodology by the table of orthogonal way. The Response Surface Methodology was well adapted to make the analytical model of the maximum thrust force and enable the objective function to be easily created and a great deal of the time In computation to be saved. Therefore, it is expected that the proposed optimization procedure using the Response Surface Methodology can be easily utilized to solve the optimization problem of electric machine.

  • In the transverse flux linear induction motor(TFLIM) with the general secondary composed of conductor and back-yoke, there exists a magnetized force into the normal direction or the air-gap direction of the thrust motion as well as the thrust force. Therefore, the various methodologies have been tried to use the normal force by the two independent control variables of the multi-phase input. But, as the force depends inevitably and strongly on the thrust force, it is essential to decouple both forces for two control index. In this paper, we suggest a novel approach capable of compensating the couple between both forces and the control index by using the DC-biased multi-phase input, and then realizing the independent control of TFLIM.

  • In this paper, we proposes a study on air gap control for magnetic levitation of transverse flux permanent magnet electromagnets. In general, mechanical systems have a high failure rate of bearings. Bearings in particular are problematic because they have high surface wear rate and degradations. To solve this problem, replacing the bearing with a magnetic levitation electromagnet system can provide lightweight and efficiency improvements. However, precise air gap control is essential to control the magnetic levitation electromagnet system. Therefore, in this paper, we identify the instable cause of gap control through a mathematical modeling and verify through experiment a control algorithm that can use compensation.

  • This paper presents an analysis method for a permanent magnet excited Transverse Flux Linear Motor (TFLM) with spiral core in a mover. The spiral core is used as mover core in order to make 3-dimensional magnetic flux path at the TFLM which has 3-dimensional magnetic flux flow. Magnetic field is analyzed by three-dimensional Equivalent Magnetic Circuit Network (EMCN) method. And an imaginary part, 'flux barrier,' is introduced to consider the spiral core characteristic. The computed thrust forces is compared to the measured results to show the effect of presented analysis method.

  • In this study. the time varying boundary control using the right boundary transverse motion on the basis of the energy flux between the moving string and the boundaries is suggested to stabilize the transverse vibration of an axially moving string. The effectiveness of the active boundary control is showed through experimental results. Sliding mode control is adopted in order to achieve velocity tracking control of the time varying right boundary to dissipate vibration energy of the string effectively. For the unmoving and moving string at various velocity under various tension the performance of the transverse vibration control using the time varying right boundary control with the suggested control scheme is experimentally demonstrated.

  • In transverse flux linear induction motors(TFLIM), The loops of the working flux lie in planes transverse to the direction of motion. With a poly-phase primary winding, The TFLIMs has both electro-magnetic propulsion and levitation force. Thus, TFLIM a will be useful in high speed ground transportation systems. In this paper, The characteristics of a single aide TFLIM are analysed by using electromagnetic field theory.
