TCP assumes that packet loss is always happened by congestionlike wired networks because is can not distinguish between congestion loss and transmission error loss,. This assumption results in unnecessary TCP performance degradation in wireless networks by reducing sender's congestion window size and retransmitting the lost packets. Also, repeated retransmissions loed to waste the limited battery power of mobile devices. In this paper, we propose the new congestion control scheme that add the algorithms monitoring networks states and the algorithms preventing congestion to improve TCP throughput performance and energy efficiency in wireless ad-hoc networks. Using NS2, we showd our scheme improved throughput performance and energy efficiency.

IEEE 802.15.4e-TSCH is recognized as a wireless industrial sensor network standard used in IoT systems. To ensure both power savings and reliable communications, the TSCH standard uses techniques including channel hopping and bandwidth reserve. In TSCH mode, scheduling is crucial because it allows sensor nodes to select when data should be delivered or received. Because a wide range of applications may necessitate energy economy and transmission dependability, we present a distributed approach that uses a cluster tree topology to forecast scheduling requirements for the following slotframe, concentrating on the Poisson model. The proposed Optimized Minimal Scheduling Function (OMSF) is interested in the details of the scheduling time intervals, something that was not supported by the Minimal Scheduling Function (MSF) proposed by the 6TSCH group. Our contribution helps to deduce the number of cells needed in the following slotframe by reducing the number of negotiation operations between the pairs of nodes in each cluster to settle on a schedule. As a result, the cluster tree network's error rate, traffic load, latency, and queue size have all decreased.
Laser communication has been considered as a novel method for earth observation satellites with generation of high data volume. It offers faster data transmission speeds compared to conventional radio frequency (RF) communication due to the short wavelength and narrow beam divergence. However, laser beams are refracted due to atmospheric turbulence between the ground and the satellite. Refracted laser beams, upon reaching the receiver, result in angle-of-arrival (AoA) fluctuation, inducing image dancing and wavefront distortion. These phenomena hinder signal acquisition and lead to signal loss in the course of laser communication. So, precise alignment between the transmitter and receiver is essential to guarantee effective and reliable laser communication, which is achieved by pointing, acquisition, and tracking (PAT) system. In this study, we simulate the effectiveness of tip/tilt compensation for more efficient laser communication in the satellite-ground downlink. By compensating for low-order terms using tip/tilt mirror, we verify the alleviation of AoA fluctuations under both weak and strong atmospheric turbulence conditions. And the performance of tip/tilt correction is analyzed in terms of the AoA fluctuation and collected power on the detector.

Twin clutch model enables the power-shifts as conventional planetary automatic transmission and eradicates the disadvantages of single clutch trans- mission. The automatic control of the dual clutches is a problem. Particularly to control the clutching component that engages when running in one direction of revolution and disengages when running the other direction, which exchange the torque smoothly during torque phase of the gearshifts on planetary-type automatic transmissions, seemed for quite a while hard to compensate through clutch control. Another problem is to skip gears during multiple gearshifts. However, the twin clutch gear control described in ["M Goetz, M C Levesley and D A Crolla. Dynamics and control of gearshifts on twin clutch transmissions, Proceedings of the Institution of Mechanical Engineers, Part D: Journal of Automobile Engineering 2005"], a significant improvement in twin clutch gear control system is discussed. In this research our objective is to formally specify the twin clutch gear control system and verify it with the help of formal methods. Formal methods have a high potential to give correctness estimating techniques. We use UPPAAL for formal specification and verification. Our results show that the twin clutch gear control model partially fulfills its functional requirements.

Modern military operations rely heavily on broadband communication and data transmission. Recently, the rising use of intelligent unmanned technology necessitates more frequencies. Free-space optical(FSO) communication can offer high-data-rate communications with high security and no need for licensing. Therefore, the FSO communication holds significant interest and potential in the defense industry. In this paper, we present design of a FSO communication terminal taking Korean domestic weather conditions into account. The domestic atmospheric attenuation is analyzed using several models and two-year meteorological information for a city in Korea, and this analysis is utilized to design the FSO communication terminal. The design results were verified using an FSO communication test bed, and we achieved an Ethernet bandwidth of approximately 1.86 Gbps at a distance of 1.3 km with the optical amplifier output power of the test bed set to about 20 dBm.

The objective of this study was to examine whether a gerotor pump used in a transmission could be converted into an electric vehicle thermal management system pump using a virtual design environment. To achieve this objective, we first built an environment that could analyze the performance of a gerotor pump in heat transfer fluid. Flow rate, pressure, and volumetric efficiency were then analyzed when using heat transfer fluid in a gerotor pump. Finally, how large the displacement volume of the pump should be designed when using a heat transfer fluid other than oil was determined. Based on results of this study, it is expected that gerotor pumps will be applied to new business fields such as electric vehicle cooling systems.
A high-efficiency underwater radiation monitoring system, HydroGamma, has been developed for detecting 137Cs and 131I in the event of waterborne radiation contamination. The system consists of a 3-inch NaI (Tl) detector, solar panels for power supply, data acquisition and transmission modules, and batteries. HydroGamma also includes a 40K calibration source for remote performance evaluation and energy calibration. In this study, some simulations and experiments were carried out to evaluate the minimum detectable activities (MDA) of HydroGamma. We installed the HydroGamma at Tapjeongho Lake in Nonsan-si and acquired background data since MDA is calculated based on the experimental background data. The results show that the minimum detectable activities for 137Cs and 131I were 1.78Bq L-1 and 1.81Bq L-1, respectively even though the gamma rays emitted from 40K(1,460 keV) affect the minimum detectable activities for them.
Objectives: The purpose of this study was to measure the power density of light curing units transmitted through resin inlays fabricated with direct composite (Filtek Z350, Filtek Supreme XT) and indirect composite (Sinfony). Materials and Methods: A3 shade of Z350, A3B and A3E shades of Supreme XT, and A3, E3, and T1 shades of Sinfony were used to fabricate the resin inlays in 1.5 mm thickness. The power density of a halogen light curing unit (Optilux 360) and an LED light curing unit (Elipar S10) through the fabricated resin inlays was measured with a hand held dental radiometer (Cure Rite). To investigate the effect of each composite layer consisting the resin inlays on light transmission, resin specimens of each shade were fabricated in 0.5 mm thickness and power density was measured through the resin specimens. Results: The power density through the resin inlays was lowest with the Z350 A3, followed by Supreme XT A3B and A3E. The power density was highest with Sinfony A3, E3, and T1 (p < 0.05). The power density through 0.5 mm thick resin specimens was lowest with dentin shades, Sinfony A3, Z350 A3, Supreme XT A3B, followed by enamel shades, Supreme XT A3E and Sinfony E3. The power density was highest with translucent shade, Sinfony T1 (p < 0.05). Conclusions: Using indirect lab composites with dentin, enamel, and translucent shades rather than direct composites with one or two shades could be advantageous in transmitting curing lights through resin inlays.

DFT-spread OFDM(Discrete Fourier Transform-Spread Orthogonal Frequency Division Multiplexing) is very effective for solving the PAPR(Peak-to-Average Power Ratio) problem. Therefore, the SC-FDMA(Single Carrier-Frequency Division Multiple Access) which is basically same to the DFT spread OFDM was adopted as the uplink standard of the 3GPP LTE ($3^{rd}$ Generation Partnership Project Long Term Evolution). Unlike the ordinary OFDM system, the SC-FDMA using DFT spreading method is vulnerable to the ICI(Inter-Carrier Interference) problem caused by the phase noise and IQ(In-phase/Quadrature) imbalance and effected FDE(Frequency Domain Equalizer). In this paper, the ICI effects from the phase noise and IQ imbalance which can be problems in uplink transmission are analyzed according the back-off level of HPA. Next, we propose the equalizer algorithm to remove the ICI effects. This proposed equalizer based on the FDE can be considered as up-graded and improved version of PNS(Phase Noise Suppression) algorithm. This proposed equalizer effectively compensates the ICI resulting from the phase noise and IQ imbalance. Finally, through the computer simulation, it can be shown that about SNR=14 dB is required for the $BER=10^{-4}$ after ICI compensation when the back-off is 4.5 dB, $\varepsilon=0.005$, $\phi=5^{\circ}$, and $pn=0.06\;rad^2$.
