  • This paper proposes an implementation of unequal power divider with 1:3 and 1:4 splitting ratio in multi-section structure using CPW and offset coupled transmission line. The power divider consists of a multi-section transmission line and a circuit with parallel capacitors and resistors. A multi-section transmission line was implemented by decomposing a ${\lambda}/4$ single transmission line terminated by an arbitrary impedance and converging it with a multi-section transmission line shorter than $90^{\circ}$ electrical length, and RC parallel circuits were connected between transmission lines to obtain reflection coefficient of output port and isolation characteristics between the output port. In this way, it was confirmed that the transmission lines at the unequal power divider designed at 2 GHz were shorter than ${\lambda}/4$ and implemented at least 27% less than the conventional ones, and that the broadband characteristics could be obtained.

  • In this paper, Power Flow Analysis (PFA) method has been applied to the prediction of vibration energy density and intensity of coupled shell structures in the medium-to-high frequency ranges. To consider the wave transformation at joint between shell elements, power transmission and reflection coefficients are investigated for various joint angles, and here Donnell-Mushtari thin shell theory has been used. • This paper presents a reliability assessment model for the power semiconductors used in wind turbine power converters. In this study, the thermal loadings at different timescales of wind speed are considered. First, in order to address the influence of long-term thermal cycling caused by variations in wind speed, the power converter operation state is partitioned into different phases in terms of average wind speed and wind turbulence. Therefore, the contributions can be considered separately. Then, in regards to the reliability assessment caused by short-term thermal cycling, the wind profile is converted to a wind speed distribution, and the contribution of different wind speeds to the final failure rate is accumulated. Finally, the reliability of an actual power converter semiconductor for a 2.5 MW wind turbine is assessed, and the failure rates induced by different timescale thermal behavior patterns are compared. The effects of various parameters such as cut-in, rated, cut-out wind speed on the failure rate of power devices are also analyzed based on the proposed model.

  • Wireless charging method using a laser is considered as the most efficient method at a long distance of the wireless charging method. Combining long-range laser wireless charging technology with wireless communication technology will make it possible to use it for a variety of applications. Accordingly, this paper shows the results of research and experiments on wireless charging and wireless communication simultaneously based on a laser. This technique uses a laser as a light source for E/O(: Electric-to-Optical) conversion at the transmitter for optical wireless power transmission. In the experimental results, the optical power transmission using a 100 mW laser transmitter and a solar cells receiver showed a DC-to-DC efficiency of 1.9 %, wireless optical communication showed a transmission speed of up to 90 kbps when the transmission distance is 15 m.

  • A Smart Grid is a system that can efficiently use energy by exchanging real-time information in both directions between a consumer and a power supplier using ICT technology on an existing power network. DR(Demand response) is an arrangement in which electricity users can sell the electricity they save to the electricity market when the price of electricity is high or the power system is crisis. In this study, we developed a power meter data transmission device and power IT system that measure the demand information in real-time using a smart meter and transmit it to a cloud server. The power meter data transmission device developed in this study uses alight sensor connected to a Raspberry Pi 3 to measure the number of blinking lamps on the KEPCO meter per unit of power, in order to provide reliable data without any measurement errors with respect to the KEPCO power data. The power measurement data transmission device uses the standard communication protocol, OpenADR 2.0b. The measured data is transmitted to the power IT system, which consists of the VEN, VTN, and calculation program, via the LTE WiFi communication network and stored in its MySQL DB. The developed power measurement data transmission device issues a power supply instruction and performs a peak reduction DR when a power system crisis occurs. The developed power meter data transmission device has the advantage of allowing the user to adjust it every 1 minute, where as the existing smart metering time is fixed at once every 15 minutes.

  • In this paper, we study the problem of designing the power and number of cooperative node (CN) in the cooperation phase to maximize the average throughput for secondary user (SU), under the constraint of the total cooperation and transmission power. We first investigate the scheme of cooperative spectrum sensing without a separated control channel. Then, we prove that there indeed exist an optimal CN power when the number of CNs is fixed and an optimal CN number when CN power is fixed. The case without the constraints of the power and number of CN is also studied. Finally, numerical results demonstrate the characteristics and existences of optimal CN power and number. Meanwhile, Monte Carlo simulation results match to the theoretical results well.
