Research on parallelization mechanism of inductively coupled plasma for large area plasma source

  • Inductively coupled plasma having the high-density is often used for high productivity in the plasma processing. In large area processing, the plasma can be generated by using the multi-pole connected in parallel. However, in case of this, the power cannot transfer to plasma uniformly. To address the problem, we studied the mechanism of inductively coupled plasma connected in parallel by using transformer model. We also studied about the change of the plasma parameters over the time through the power balance equation and particle balance equation.

Semi-lumped Balun Transformer using Coupled LC Resonators

  • This paper presents a semi-lumped balun transformer using conventional PCB process and its design theory and geometry for the maximally flat response and wide bandwidth using magnetically coupled LC resonators. The proposed balun is comprised of two pairs of coupled resonators which share one among three LC resonators. It provides an identical magnitude and phase difference of 180° between two balanced ports with DC isolation and an impedance transformation characteristic. Theoretical design and analysis were performed to optimize the inductance and capacitance values of proposed balun device for obtaining the wide bandwidth and maximally flat response in its pass-band. Three balun transformers with a center frequency of 500 MHz were demonstrated for proving the concept of design proposed. They were fabricated by using lumped chip capacitors and planar inductors embedded into a conventional 4-layered PCB substrate. They exhibited a maximum magnitude difference of 0.8 dB and phase difference within 2.4 degrees.

비접촉 전원장치의 비접촉 커플러 설계 (Non contact Coupler Design in Non contact Power Supply)

  • In this paper, the electrical characteristics of the non-contact transformer is presented using conventional coupled inductor theory. Each non-contact transformer is analyzed through simulation and measurement. In high power applications, non-contact transformer is so bulky and heavy that it should be split by some light transformers. So non-contact transformer needs several small transformer modules which are connected series or parallel to transfer the primary power to the secondary one. This paper shows analytic result of the each non-contact transformer module and comparison result between series-connection and parallel-connection of the non-contact transformer. The results are verified on the simulation based on the theoretical analysis and the 30kW experimental prototype.

  • GaAs FET초고주파 증폭기의 DC 블럭용으로 사용되는 칩 커페시터 대신 DC블럭 및 임피던스 변환 성질을 가진 DC block/transformer(비대칭 2선 마이크로스트립 선로 및 까지낀 3선 마이크로스트립 선로)를 사용한 초고주파 증폭기의 새로운 구성 방법을 제시하였다. 새로운 구성을 갖는 초고주파 증폭기의 대역 특성은 평탄하며 대역폭이 3.5(BHz)인 광대역 특성을 얻으 수 있었다. 초고주파 증폭기에 사용된 깍지낀 3선 마이크로스트리 결합 선로는 DC블럭 기능과 함께 임피던스 정합 역할을 할 수 있는 큰 장점을 가지고 있다.

  • Using impedance matching techniques as a way to increase system power transferability in capacitive wireless power transmission has been widely investigated in conventional studies. However, these techniques tend to increase the circuit volume and thus counterbalance the advantage of the simplicity in the energy link structure. In this paper, a compact circuit topology with one leakage-enhanced transformer is proposed in order to minimize the circuit volume for the capacitive power transfer system. This topology achieves a reactive compensation, and the system quality factor value can be reduced by the turn ratio. As a result, this topology not only reduces the overall system volume but also minimizes the voltage stress of the link capacitor. An optimal design guideline for the leakage-enhanced transformer is also presented. The advantages of the proposed scheme over the conventional method in terms of power efficiency and circuit volume are revealed through an analytic comparison. The feasibility of applying the new topology is also verified by conducting 50 W hardware tests.

변압기 절연유의 물성치 변화에 따른 온도특성해석 (Temperature Characteristic Analysis according to Variation of Properties of Transformer Insulating Oil)

  • In this paper, the temperature distribution according to the property change of the insulating oil of the power transformer and max temperature were predicted through the ductility interpretation which heat-flow is coupled. By using CFD (Computation Fluid Dynamics) for the interpretation, the temperature distribution of 154kV the class single phase power transformer was predicted. The power loss causing the temperature rise of the transformer was changed to the heat source and we used as the input value for the heat-flow analysis. The temperature distribution was predicted according to the change of the density, specific heat, thermal conductivity and viscosity, that is the ingredient having an effect on the temperature rise of the transformer oil. The mineral oil of 4 kinds used in domestic and international based on the interpreted result was selected and the temperature distribution according to each load and Hot Spot temperature was predicted.

  • In this paper, we dealt with the electro-thermal coupling analysis for temperature prediction of power transformer. Heat transfer coefficient are calculated using Nusselt number in accordance with heat source generated from transformer windings and core materials. The calculated temperatures in power transformer were compared to those of measured ones and showed good agreement. This coupling method using heat transfer coefficient can be used at the design stage of power transformer efficiently.

  • In this paper, a power loss analysis technique of a high-frequency transformer of a bidirectional DAB (Dual Active Bridge) converter is reported. To miniaturize the transformer of the dual active bridge converter, a resonant inductor was designed with an air gap included low-coupled rate state core to combine leakage inductor with the resonant inductor which is required for soft-switching. In this paper, leakage inductance and magnetizing inductance, core material, type of winding and winding method are included in the dual active bridge transformer loss analysis process to enable optimal design at the initial design stage. Transformer loss analysis for dual active bridge with a switching frequency of 200 kHz and maximum output of 5 kW was executed, and elements necessary for design based on the number of turns on the primary side were graphed while maintaining the transformer turns ratio and window area. In particular, it was possible to determine the optimal number of turns and thickness of the transformer, and ultimately, the total loss of the transformer could be estimated.

  • In this paper, the inductive power transformer using electromagnetic induction for the road/railway applied to contactless power transfer system is suggested and some ideas for power collector design to improve the power transfer performance are presented. The proposed the inductive power transformer is used for the light railway/road transportation system. which has a large air-gap and demands a large electrical power capability. But. low output power is generated due to a loosely coupled characteristic of the large air-gap. Therefore, double layer construction of secondary winding, which was divided in half to increase both output current and output voltage was suggested. In addition, the performance of inductive power transformer to alignment condition between the primary power line and the inductive power transformer was verified by computer simulation of 2kW model.
