A Study on the Error Compensation of Three-DOF Translational Parallel Manipulator (3자유도 병렬기구의 위치오차 보정기술에 관한 연구)

  • This paper proposed a error compensation methodology for three-DOF translational parallel manipulator. The proposed method uses CMM (coordinate measuring machine) as metrology equipment to measure the position of end-effector. To identify the transform relationships between the coordinate system of the parallel manipulator and the CMM coordinate system, a new coordinate referencing (or coordinate system identification) technique is presented. By using this technique, accurate coordinate transformation relationships are efficiently established. According to these coordinate transformation relationships, an equation to calculate the compensating error components at any arbitrary position of the end-effector is derived. In this paper, Monte Carlo simulation method is applied to simulate the compensation process. Through the simulation results, the proposed error compensation method proves its effectiveness and feasibility.

  • This study investigates which sound quality indices except SPL raise annoyance response. For investigation, auditory perception experiments for road traffic noise with identical linear SPL were performed by Paired Comparison Method. The numerical results of a Paired Comparison experiment express relative preference about annoyance. So that these relative preference scores are to be correlated to sound quality indices, which are absolute, a transformation is required to go from the relative domain to an absolute and linear scale of preference. The results of the transformation will be the 'merit values,' which quantifies the annoyance(in this case) of the road traffic noise on a linear scale. Using multiple regression, a formula is established that can calculate predicted merit values. Furthermore, This investigation offers a method selecting sound samples that represent various sound quality indices values to use experiment.

  • This paper presents a method that can improve the performance of permanent magnet synchronous motor current control by minimizing the measured current phase delay caused by the Low Pass Filter(LPF) used to cut off the noises that flowed in when feedback currents are measured. Although existing methods that change the Cutoff Frequency of the LPF can minimize phase delays during high speed rotations, their noise cutoff effects are much lower and this may lead to the decline of control performance. Therefore, in this study, an algorithm that can compensate current phase delays through relatively simple calculations from the synchronous motor d-q axis coordinate transformation matrix and the inverse transformation matrix is proposed and the validity of the proposed method is verified by comparing the waveform of the calculated current with the waveform of actual currents through simulations and experiments.

  • This paper presents a systematic method for the dynamic analysis of flexible mechanical systems containing closed kinematic loops. Kinematics between pairs of contiguous flexible bodies is described with the joint coordinates and the deformation modal coordinates. The cut-joint constraint equations associated with the closed kinematic loops are derived, simply using the geometric conditions. The equations of motions are initially written in terms of the joint and modal coordinates using the velocity transformation technique. Lagrange multipliers associated with the cut-joint constraints for closed-loop systems are then eliminated systematically using the generalized coordinate partitioning method, resulting to a minimal set of equations of motion.

  • In the paper, the bilinear transformation method is applied to the design of servo system adopting the use of the internal model principle and the pole assignment method in a specified region. The pole assignment problem for the augmented system has been solved by using Tustin's function. The properties of Tustin's function have been shown in relation to the s-plane and z-planes, and the feedback law relationship between the original system and the transformed system has been cleared. The effectiveness of the proposed approach is proved via application for the cart system and the designed cart system is implemented by digital control with microcomputer and A-D/D-A converter.

  • Because of the environmental problems, automotive companies are trying to reduce the weight of car body. Therefore, TRIP(TRansformation Induced Plasticity) steels, which have high strength and ductility have been developed. Welding process is a complex process; therefore deciding the optimal welding conditions on the basis of experimental data is an effective method. However, trial-and-error method to decide the optimal conditions requires too many experiments. To overcome these problems, response surface methodology was used. Response surface methodology is a collection of mathematical and statistical techniques that are used in the modeling and analysis of problems in which a response of interest is influenced by several variables and the objective is to optimize this response. This method was applied to the resistance spot welding process of the TRIP steel to optimize the welding parameters.

  • Control Theory for continuous-time system has been well developed. Due to the development of computer technology, digital control scheme are employed in many areas. When delays are in control systems, it is hard to control the system efficiently. Delays by controller-to-actuator and sensor-to-controller deteriorate control performance and could possibly destabilize the overall system. In this paper, a new approximated discretization method and digital design for control systems with multiple state, input and output delays and a generalized bilinear transformation method with a tunable parameter are also provided, which can re-transform the integer time-delayed discrete-time model to its continuous-time model. Illustrative examples are given to demonstrate the effectiveness of the developed method.

  • In this paper, a computer-vision based pipe-inspection algorithm is developed. The algorithm uses the modified Hough transformation and a line-scanning approach to identify the edge line and radius of the pipe image, from which the eccentricity and dimension of the pipe-end is calculated.   • The propulsion marine diesel engine have been widely applied with a mechanical- hydraulic governor to control the ship speed for long time. But it was recently very difficult for the mechani¬cal - hydraulic governor to control the speed of engine under the condition of low speed and low load because of jiggling by rough fluctuation of rotating torque and hunting by dead time of Desiel engnie The performance improvement of mechanical - hydraulic governor is required to solve these problems of control system. The electro - hydraulic governor using PID algorithm is provided to compensate the faults of mechanical- hydraulic governor. In this paper, in order to analyze the ship speed control system, the transfer function was converted from the z tansformation to w transformation. The influence of dead time changing by engine speed which induces hunting phenomena was investigated by Nichols chart of w plane.   • Cam mechanism is one of the common devices used in many automatic machinery. Specially cylindrical cam generates three dimensional motions. Thus, the shape design procedures must have high accuracy. This paper proposes the shape design procedure for a cylindrical cam and follower mechanism using a relative velocity method. The relative velocity method and the coordinate transformation are used to find a contact point between the cam and the follower. Also, the full shape of the cylindrical cam can be generated by using the geometric relationships and the contact constraints. As a result, this paper presents an example for the shape design of the cylindrical cam in order to prove the accuracy of the design procedures.
