This paper deals with a defect classification technique that considers the structural characteristics of a refrigerant compressor. First, the pressure pulsation of the refrigerant flowing in the suction pipe of a normal compressor was measured at the same time as the acceleration of the shell surface, and then the transfer function between the two signals was estimated. Next, the frequency-weighted acceleration signals of the defect classification target compressors were generated using the estimated transfer function. The estimation of the variance of the transfer function is presented to formulate the frequency-weighted acceleration signals. The estimated frequency-weighted accelerations were applied to defect classification using frequency-domain features. Experiments were performed using commercial compressors to verify the technique. The results confirmed that it is possible to perform an effective defect classification of the refrigerant compressor by the shell surface acceleration of the compressor. The proposed method could make it possible to improve the total inspection performance for compressors in a mass-production line.

The good sea-keeping capability of the SWATH(Small Waterplane Area Twin Hull) ship has been attractive for research or surveillance vessels. Especially, for the naval ships accomplishing the underwater acoustic missions, it is necessary to access and minimize the underwater radiated noise level generated by the ships. Therefore, acoustic signature management and control are very important topics for these vessels. Underwater radiation pattern in the low frequency range is dominated by the tonals from the vibration of onboard machinery. In this work, the radiated noise level generated by the propulsion machine in the submerged hull is predicted using the transfer function technique and the hull transfer function for the submerged hull is determined by analyzing the longitudinal/circumferential stiffened infinitely long cylindrical shell and considering the empirical database of the previous vessels. It is confirmed that the transfer function technique can give useful information for identifying the noise source and estimating its contribution to the total radiatied noise level.
Identification of RTF (Relative Transfer Function) between sensors is essential to multichannel speech enhancement system. In this paper, we present an approach for estimating the relative transfer function of speech signal. This method adapts a CASA (Computational Auditory Scene Analysis) technique to the conventional OM-LSA (Optimally-Modified Log-Spectral Amplitude) based approach. Evaluation of the proposed approach is performed under simulated stationary and nonstationary WGN (White Gaussian Noise). Experimental results confirm advantages of the proposed approach.

Exergetic analysis was introduced in optimization of a rotating equilateral triangular internal cooling channel with staggered square ribs to maximize the net exergy gain. The objective function was defined as the net exergy gain considering the exergy gain by heat transfer and exergy losses by friction and heat transfer process. The flow field and heat transfer in the channel were analysed using three-dimensional Reynolds-averaged Navier-Stokes equations under the uniform temperature condition. Shear stress transport turbulence model has been selected as a turbulence closure through the turbulence model test. Computational results for the area-averaged Nusselt number were validated compared to the experimental data. Three design variables, i.e., the angle of rib, the rib pitch-to-hydraulic diameter ratio and the rib width-to-hydraulic diameter ratio, were selected for the optimization. The optimization was performed at Reynolds number, 20,000. Twenty-two design points were selected by Latin hypercube sampling, and the values of the objective function were evaluated by the RANS analysis at these points. Through optimization, the objective function value was improved by 22.6% compared to that of the reference geometry. Effects of the Reynolds number, rotation number, and buoyancy parameter on the heat transfer performance of the optimum design were also discussed.

In order to analyze the motion errors of the aerostatic stage, it is necessary to consider the influence of the moment variation occurred inside the pads. In this paper, a motion error analysis method utilizing the transfer functions on the reaction force and moment is proposed, and general characteristics of the transfer functions are discussed. Calculated motion errors by the proposed method show good agreement with the ones calculated by Multi fad Method, which is considered the entire table as an analysis object. Also, by the introduction of the transfer function of motion errors, which represent the relationship between the spatial frequency components of the rail form error and motion errors, motional characteristics of the porous aerostatic stage can be generalized. In detail, the influence of the spatial frequencies is analyzed qualitatively, and the patterns of the insensitive frequencies which almost do not affect the linear motion error or angular motion error according to the rail length ratio and the number of the pad are verified. The relationship between the moment variation occurred inside the pads and the motion errors is also verified together.
This paper describes the acoustic analysis of mid duty truck. The focus of the analysis is on structure borne engine noise with major contributions of 2nd order. It has been previously recognized that the noise contribution of each transfer path of structure borne noise can be varied with the charateristics of each mounts and vibro acoustic sensitivity of car body. The structure of car body will be split up into three major sub components, which are modeled separately, the engine, the frame and the cab. The acoustic performance is evaluated on three levels: engine to frame transfer, frame to cab transfer, and panel contribution from cab to driver. In order to perform these analyses, analytical models are created for the engine, frame, cab and acoustic cavity. The models are linked through a coupled fluid structure calculation, and through FRF Based Substructuring for the structural couplings. Based on the structural coupling calculations, a transfer path analysis is performed to identify the most important transfer paths. These paths are then the focussing points for applying modifications to the structure or the mount system. Finally, a number of modification are proposed and their effect is quantified.
This article introduces transfer function model (TFM) with conditional heteroscedasticity where ARCH concept is built into the traditional TFM of Box and Jenkins (1976). Model building strategies such as identification, estimation and diagnostics of the model are discussed and are illustrated via empirical study including simulated data and real data as well. Comparisons with the classical TFM are also made.
the relationships between rainfall and runoff are analyzed statistically and modelled using discrete linear transfer function, which can be shown with the relations between input and output in hydrologic system. The procedures of identification, estimation and diagnostic checking of model are proposed, and the suitabilith of assume model is determined by the statistics used in time series analysis.

Analytical method to analyze the effect of tolerance on the modal characteristic of multi-body systems in dynamic equilibrium position is suggested in this paper. Monte-Carlo method is conventionally employed to perform the tolerance analysis. However, Monte-Carlo method spends too much time for analysis and has a greater or less accuracy depending on sample condition. To resolve these problems, an analytical method is suggested in this paper. Sensitivity equations for damped natural frequencies and the transfer function are derived at the dynamic equilibrium position. By employing the sensitivity information of mass, damping and stiffness matrices, the sensitivities of damped natural frequencies and the transfer function can be calculated.
