다수준분석모형을 이용한 고령운전자 교통사고 피해 심각성 분석 (Traffic Accident Damage Severity of Old Age Drivers by Multilevel Analysis Model)

  • 전라북도내 14개 시 군의 교통사고 자료를 활용하여 고령운전자의 교통사고 피해 심각성을 분석하였다. 교통사고는 1차적으로 개인 및 운전환경 속성과 2차적으로 도시관련 속성에 의해 영향을 받는 2단계 위계적 특성을 갖는 것으로 가정하였다. 위계적 특성을 고려한 피해 심각성에 대한 영향요인을 분석하기 위해 다수준분석모형을 활용하였다. 분석결과로서 65세 이후의 고령운전자는 연령이 증가할수록 교통사고로 인한 피해상황이 심각해짐을 보여주며 안전한 운전방법의 교육과 교통사고를 미연에 방지하기 위한 대안이 필요하다. 음주운전은 고령운전자에게 사고발생시 피해 심각성을 크게 할 경향이 높은데, 사망사고에 있어서 비고령자에 비해 발생비율이 약 3.0배 이상 높았다. 고령운전자는 야간 교통사고 발생빈도가 높은 편이나, 낮 시간대의 교통사고일수록 피해 심각성은 높아졌다. 고령운전자는 비고령자보다 흐린 날씨에서 사고 발생빈도가 높으나, 심각성에서는 맑은 날에 높아짐을 보였다. 습윤상태의 노면이 피해 심각성에 큰 영향을 주고 있는데, 비고령자에 비해서 고령운전자가 중상 및 사망비율도 높은 것으로 분석되었다.

  • 연구목적: 고속도로 교통사고의 추세는 증감을 반복하며 도로 종류 중 고속도로에서의 치사율은 최고치를 나타내고 있다. 따라서 국내 실정을 반영한 개선대책 수립이 필요하다. 연구방법: Random Forest를 활용해 2019년부터 2021년까지 전국 고속도로 노선 중 사고 다발 10개 노선에서 발생한 교통사고 자료로 사고 심각도 분석 및 사고 심각도에 미치는 영향요인을 도출하였다. 연구결과: SHAP 패키지를 활용해 상위 10개의 변수 중요도를 분석한 결과, 고속도로 교통사고 중 사고 심각도에 높은 영향을 미치는 변수는 가해자 연령이 20세 이상 39세 미만, 시간대가 주간(06:00-18:00), 주말(토~일), 계절이 여름과 겨울, 법규위반이 안전운전불이행, 도로 형태가 터널, 기하구조상 차로 수가 많고 제한속도가 높은 경우로 총 10개의 독립변수에서 고속도로 교통사고 심각도와 양(+)의 상관관계를 가지는 것으로 분석되었다. 결론:고속도로에서의 사고 발생은 매우 다양한 요인의 복합적인 작용으로 인해 발생하므로 사고 예측에 많은 어려움이 있지만 본 연구로 도출된 결과를 활용해 고속도로 교통사고 심각도에 영향을 주는 요인을 심층적으로 분석해 효율적이고 합리적인 대응책 수립을 위한 노력이 필요하다.

지방자치단체 교통사고통합지수 개발방안에 관한 연구 (A Study on Development of Traffic Accident Merging Index for Local Governments)

  • Traffic Accident Merging Index (TAMI) is developed for TMACS (Traffic Safety Information Management Complex System). TAMI is calculated by combining 'Severity Index' and 'Frequency'. The existing indexes are Traffic deaths per 100,000 population, Traffic deaths per 100,000 inhabitants/per billion veh-km, etc. However, there is no consistency in using them among local governments, so it can create confusion. Moreover, the index level is too complicated to understand. Therefore, this study suggests new traffic safety index, TAMI. It will work to improve the weaknesses and present accurate status of traffic safety in local governments.

고령화 수준별 교통사고 심각성 분석 (Analysis of Traffic Accident Severity by Aging Level)

  • Korea has entered to 'aged society', which the elderly people over 65 years old is over 14% of total population. This paper aims to analyze the traffic accident by aging level. In pursuing the above, this paper focuses on modeling the traffic accident severity based on three aging levels. The main results are as follows. First, the ratio of fatal and serious injured persons (FSI) is judged to increase according to increasing aging level. Second, the null hypothesis that there is no difference in FSI among three aging levels (aging, aged, and super-aged) is rejected. Four accident severity generalized linear models which are all statistically significant have been developed. Third, the common variables are analyzed to be median age, the number of hospital beds per persons, and turn signal usage ratio. Fourth, the differentiated traffic safety policies fitted to aging levels are required. The enforcement of traffic law violation and safety enhancement of motorcycle in the region of 'aging society', improvement of traffic facilities in the region of 'aged society', and expansion of transportation facilities in the region of 'super-aged society' are evaluated to be indispensable.

  • 교통사고 발생위험예보의 목적은 교통사고를 저감하기 위한 것이다. 따라서 본 연구는 조건에 따른 교통사고발생 확률을 산정하여 효과적인 교통사고 위험 예보를 목적으로 하였다. 국내에서는 인터넷 등을 통해 사망사고 정보를 포함한 교통사고의 통계수준의 정보를 제공하고 있으며 최근에는 날씨에 따른 광역지자체 단위의 지역별 주간 교통사고 위험도수준 정도의 정보를 개략적으로 제공하고 있다. 그러나 모든 운전자에게 동일내용의 정보를 제공하는 것은 개인의 특성과 환경을 반영하지 못한 것으로 한계가 있다. 그러므로 본 연구에서는 부산시 주간선도로의 68개 주요 교차로를 중심으로 교통사고, 교차로 기하 구조, 강수량 등의 정보를 종합적으로 교통사고 발생에 대한 노드와 링크 단위의 위험도 예보를 하고자 하였다. 구체적으로, 운전자특성과 운전상황 같은 동적정보와 교차로 기하 구조데이터를 이용하여 각 상황에 맞는 상대적 사고발생 위험도를 산정하였다. 또한 사고유형을 '차대차', '차대사람'으로 분류하여 각각의 구체적인 사고발생 위험도를 산정하였다. 최종적으로는 산정한 결과 값에 기초하여 교차로 기반의 운전자 맞춤형 사고위험도 정보를 제공하고자 하였다. 사고예보정보에 따른 안전한 경로를 서비스함으로서 맞춤형 경로선택의 기회를 제공하며 운전자의 안전운행에 도움을 주고자 하였다.

판별분석을 활용한 주·야간 고속도로 교통사고 영향요인 비교연구 (Discriminant Analysis of Factors Affecting Traffic Accident Severity During Daytime and Nighttime)

  • PURPOSES : Low visibility caused by dark surroundings at nighttime affects the likelihood of accidents, and various efforts, such as installing road safety facilities, have been made to reduce accidents at night. Despite these efforts, the nighttime severity index (SI) in Korea was higher than the daytime SI during 2011-2014. This study determined the factors affecting daytime and nighttime accident severity through a discriminant analysis. METHODS : Discriminant analysis. RESULTS : First, drowsiness, lack of attention, and lighting facilities affected both daytime and nighttime accident severity. Accidents were found to be caused by a low ability to recognize the driving conditions and a low obstacle avoidance capability. Second, road conditions and speeding affected only the daytime accident severity. Third, failure to maintain a safe distance significantly affected daytime accident severity and nonsignificantly affected nighttime accident severity. The majority of such accidents were caused by rear-end collisions of vehicles driving in the same direction; given the low relative speed difference in such cases, the shock imparted by the accidents was minimal. CONCLUSIONS : Accidents caused by a failure to maintain a safe distance has lower severity than do accidents caused by other factors.

한국형 실사고 심층조사 데이터베이스 질향상을 위한 차량속도(ΔV) 측정방법에 관한 연구 (Research on the Investigation of ΔV (Delta-V) for the Quality Improvement of Korean In-Depth Accident Study (KIDAS) Database)

  • Modern traffic accidents are a complex occurrence. Various indicators are needed to analyze traffic accidents. Countries that have been investigating traffic accidents for a long time accumulate various data to analyze traffic accidents. The Korean In-Depth Accident Study (KIDAS) database collected damaged vehicles and severity of injury caused by Collision Deformation Classification code (CDC code), Abbreviated Injury Scale (AIS), and Injury Severity Score (ISS). As a result of the investigation, data relating to the injuries of the occupants can be easily obtained, but it was difficult to analyze human severity based on the information of the damaged vehicle. This study suggests a method to measure the speed change at the time of an accident, which is one of the most important indicators in the vehicle crash database, to help advance KIDAS research.

교통사고 관련 외상후 스트레스 장애 환자에서 신체적 외상의 정도와 외상후 스트레스 장애 증상의 심각도 사이의 관계 (Relationship between Severity of Physical Trauma and Subsequent the Severity of PTSD Symptoms in Traffic Accident Related PTSD Patients)

  • Objective: This study was designed to evaluate the etiological factors of the PTSD(post traumatic stress disorder) by examining the relationship between severity of physical trauma and subsequent the severity of PTSD symptom in traffic accident related PTSD patients. Method: Subjects were 21 psychiatric inpatients with history of traffic accident related PTSD(DSM-IV criteria), the purpose of evaluation of mental disability and no evidence of organic brain leisons. The severity of physical trauma was assessed by McBride number of nonpsychiatric department and the presence / absence of loss of conciousness. The severity of PTSD symptom was assessed by Hovens' self rating inventory for PTSD. And then we evaluated the correlation between these two factors. And we also evaluated relationship between severity of PTSD symtom and clinical variables. Results : There were no significant relationship between McBride number of nonpsychiatric department severity and symptomatic severity(r= 0.17, p<0.05), the presence / absence of loss of conciousness and symptomatic severity(p>0.05). And significant relationship between symptomatic severity and clinical varibles such as sex, education level, marital status(p<0.05). Conclusions : These data did not support data of previous studies that traumatic severity was correlated with symptom severity but, suggested that other variables affecting the severity of PTSD symptom is more important indirectly. And that the 'trauma' in PTSD is psychological meaning rather than physical meaning is also suggested.

119로 내원한 노인교통사고 환자의 손상과 손상중증도계수의 상관관계 분석 (Correlation between injury and the injury severity score in geriatric traffic accident patients transported by 119 rescue services)

  • Purpose: The purpose of the study was to investigate the correlation between injury and injury severity score (ISS) in geriatric traffic accident patients transported by 119 emergency medical technicians (EMTs). Methods: The subjects were 240 traffic accident patients over 65 years old transported by 119 rescue services emergency departments in Busan from January 1, 2014 to August 31, 2015. Results: ISS increased in motorcycle traffic accidents (p=.026), truck injuries (p=.005), and head and neck injury (p<.001). Vital signs were evaluated by 119 rescue EMT. ISS increased in cases of unresponsive unconsciousness (p<.001), hypotension (p=.001), and bradycardia (p<.001). The need for bleeding control and dressing by the EMTs increased ISS significantly (p=.022). Conclusion: In the initial evaluation of geriatric traffic patients, ISS can increase in motor cycle accidents and truck injuries. Due to high ISS, patients with head and neck injury, chest injury, hypotension, or tachycardia should be transferred to advanced level hospitals.

교통안전진단 개선방안들의 우선순위 산정 연구 (A Study on Practical Method of Utility Curve for Deciding Priority Order of the Improvements in Traffic Safety Audit)

  • Recently, a massive loss of life and property is occurring in Korea due to traffic accidents, with the rapid increase in cars. For improvement of traffic safety, the Korea Transportation Safety Authority intensively analyzes accident data in local governments with low traffic safety index, performs a field investigation to extract problems and offers local governments improvements for problems, by conducting the 'Special Survey of Actual Conditions of Traffic Safety' each year, starting 2008. But local governments cannot strongly push forward the improvement projects due to the limited budget and the uncertainty of the improvement plan effects. Therefore, this study suggested a model which applied the Utility concept to the AHP theory, in order to efficiently decide a priority of the improvement plans in accident black spots in consideration of the limited budget of local governments. The number of accidents in each spot for improvement and accident severity, traffic volume, pedestrian volume, the improvement project cost and the accident reduction effect were chosen as evaluation factors for deciding a priority, and data about the improvement plan costs and the accident reduction effects, traffic accidents and traffic volume in the spots to undergo the special research on the real condition of traffic accident in the past were collected from the existing studies. Then, regression analysis was carried out and the Utility Curve of each evaluation factor was computed. Based on the AHP analysis findings, this study devised a priority decision method which calculated the weight and the utility function of each evaluation factor and compared the total utility values. The AHP analysis findings showed that among the evaluation factors, accident severity had the biggest importance and it was followed by the improvement plan cost, the number of accidents, the improvement effect, traffic volume and pedestrian volume. The calculated utility function shows a rise in utility, as the variables of the 5 evaluation factors; the number of accidents, accident severity, the improvement plan effect, traffic volume and pedestrian volume increase and a fall in utility, as the variables of the improvement plan cost increase, since the improvement plan cost is included in the budget spent by a local government.
