This study is for the development of fashion cultural products that simultaneously evolved with the contemporary use of traditional temple culture in addition, it analyzed the cultural products available in the Korean market. Methodology, this study conducted a literature review and empirical research. We targeted the cultural products carried at twelve web-based shopping malls for Buddhist cultural products and six souvenir shops in Korean Buddhist temples to collect data on those products in order to analyze the items, design motives, materials, and price ranges. The study results showed that interior items represented the largest portion of the targeted goods, followed by accessories/sundries, clothing/fashion items, stationery, and tableware. The most commonly used design motive was lotuses, followed by the images of Buddha or Buddhist Goddesses and Dharma. The most common materials include fibers, jewelry (such as gold and silver), wood, metals, ceramics, paper, and plastic. The most active price range was between KRW10,000 and KRW50,000, followed by less than KRW10,000 and KRW100,000 to less than KRW500,000. This study discovered the potential for traditional temple culture to advance it further in a contemporary manner and indicated the need to develop a wide variety of cultural products and emphasize its global acceptance.
To investigate the consumption pattern of traditional fermented soybean products a survey was con-ducted to the subjects composed of 308 housewives in busan yangsan and ulsan. Doenjang was rated among one of the often-used traditional foods in Korean meal preparation. 67.2% fo the respondents used Doenjang once or twice a week and 22.7% every day and by the educational level the lower in education level used more. Doenjang has been prepared by housewives themselves(46.9%) or by their relatives(30.7%) for the most important reason of good taste and by purchasing of commercial products(22.4%) for convenience. By regional groups the frequency to use commercial products of Doenjang was higher in Ulsan and the younger or the higher in education level showed the higher frequency. The consump-tion pattern of Gochujang was very similar to that of Doenjang. Chunggukjang which has peculiar flav-our showed very low consumption with being rarely used or having not eaten by 60.3% of subjects. Gan-jang was consumed mainly once or twice a week and jin-ganjang was preferred than Guk-ganjang. In the preparing methods Guk-ganjang have been made by housewives themselves(31.0%) by their relativ-es(29.5%) or by purchasing of commercial products(31.0%) and Jin-ganjang mainly by purchasing of commercial products(65.0%) which showed higher consumption frequency of commercial products com-pared with Doenjang and Gochujang.
This research is implemented to shed new light on the essence of Korean sentiments, aesthetic sense and restructure it in modern ways. In particular, applying the current images of traditional Korean village in Jeonju to neckties is focused on the purpose of globalizing the industrialization of Korean traditional sceneries and Korean image products. Adobe Photoshop CS program was used to develop necktie designs containing the images of the traditional Korean village. To make artworks, the Digital Textile Printing System that is an environment-friendly printing method was used. Moreover, Hanji yarn fabric was adopted for them so as to use Korean materials. The total number of developed designs is eight and neckties for men were made by altering images of the traditional Korean village in modern ways. According to the research results, required are more investment and self-development for proper understandings on our traditional cultural images and their development from now on. Moreover, in my view, customers' desires must be met by comprehending public consciousness, trends and environments to meet customer's desires. Furthermore, higher value-added products must be created by using Hanji yarn and images of traditional Korean villages by distributing high quality designs that will satisfy customers' desires and psychology, producing small quantities of products with various designs and colors.
Swedish research in 2002 indicated that acrylamide formation was particularly associated with traditional high temperature cooking processes of certain carbohydrate-rich foods. Since the Swedish report, similar findings have been reported by researchers in numerous other countries. In 2003, three hundred and twenty seven domestic food products, selected on the basis of annual sales in Korea, were analyzed. The results were similar to those from other countries. In this study, the monitoring of acrylamide was expanded to include Korean traditional food products. Samples were purchased from local markets, prepared and then analyzed using LC/MS/MS methods. The categorized food products analyzed included cooked rices and porridges, soup products, fried products, boiled down products, seasoned products, roasted products and coffee. The acrylamide concentrations of the samples were $ND\~18ppb$ in cooked rices and porridges, $ND\~28ppb$ in soup products, $ND\~22ppb$ in fried products, $ND\~218ppb$ in boiled down products, <10ppb in seasoned and roasted products, and <10\~11ppb in brewed coffee and coffee drinks.

The purposes of this study were to develop cultural fashion products using Baekje traditional culture, and to examine the effects of product image and evaluative criteria on the purchase intention of cultural fashion products using Baekje traditional culture. The subjects were 500 adult consumers from their 20s to 50s. The research method was a survey, and the instruments were four stimuli, which were developed using Baekje traditional culture, and the questionnaire, consisted of product image, evaluation criteria, purchase intention of cultural fashion products, and the subjects' demographic characteristics. For data analysis, descriptive statistics, Cronbach's α, factor analysis, and regression analysis were performed. The results of this study were as follows. First, four handkerchief designs were developed as cultural fashion products, based on the results of a preliminary investigation of consumer behaviors toward cultural fashion products and thier preference of Backje relics. Second, three factors (attractiveness, uniqueness, and gentleness) emerged for images of cultural fashion products. Third, four factors (design characteristics, tourism characteristics, cultural symbolism and practicality) emerged for the evaluation criteria for cultural fashion products. Fourth, three image factors had significant positive effects on purchase intention. Especially, attractiveness had a greater effect than others. Fifth, the four evaluative criterion factors also had significant positive effects on purchase intention. Design characteristics had the greatest effect, followed by tourism characteristics, cultural symbolism, and practicality in order.
The purpose of this study was to analyze the status of intellectual property rights and developmental direction for brands of special rural products in Korea. The data was derived from 166 special rural products in Korea. The major results of this study were as follows: Enterprises having intellectual property rights above one were Traditional soybean sauce 18(56.2%), Hangwa 15(42.9%), Kimchi 18(43.9%), Traditional tea 20(80%) and Crafted products 10(31.3%), respectively. Enterprises acquiring designation and certification due to national and local autonomous entities over one were Traditional soybean sauce 17(56.7%), Hangwa 23(63.9%), Kimchi 33(80.4%), Traditional tea. 13(52%), and Crafted products 20 (62.5%), respectively. The trademark registration of special rural products was invested with total 62 cases(37.3%) as Traditional soybean sauce 14(43.7%), Hangwa 15(41.7%), Kimchi 17(41.5%), Traditional tea. 12(48%) and Crafted products 4(12.5%). And Patent registration 39 cases(23.5%), design registration 32 cases(14.5%), and utility model registration 5 cases (3.01%) were invested respectively. It was shown that, where the origin of brand names was a proper non 107 were things(53%), 39 were materials(19.3%), 17 were the production method(8.41 %) and 55 were a composite trademark(33.1%).
The present survey was designed to find out the utilization status of korean traditional cookies and the evaluation degrees of their commercial products' quality subjects. The subjects were housewives randomly selected who lived in Seoul, Deajeon, Youngju city (Kyoung Buk Province area), and Sechon khun (Chung Nam province area). We performed this survey from November 16 to 28, 1987 by questionnaire method. The results obtained can be summarized as follows; 1) In the subjects' home, 25 kinds of Korean traditional cookies were used. All of them Youmilkwa and Kangjeong type were used more frequently than the other types and Jeonkwa, Dasik, and Suksilkwa were used scarcely. 2) Korean traditional cookies which were showed more than 20% of utilization ratio were follows; Yackwa (74.4%), Sanja (26.8%), Taraekwa (22.6%), Seban-kangjeong (21.7%). 3) On New Year's day, Korean traditional cookies were used more frequently than harvest festival day but their utilization ratio of western cookies was follows; New Year's day was 10%, and harvest festival day was 6.2%. 5) On ceremonial day, Youmilkwa and kangjeong type were used more frequently than jeonkwa, Dasik, and Suksilkwa type. 6) All of ceremonial days, korean traditional cookies were used most frequently on the 60th birth day and their utilization ratio was extremely low on the 100th day after birth, 1st birth day, and funeral day. 7) Generally western cookies were used more frequently than Korean traditional cookies on the birth day of children and adults. 8) Convinience (64.8%) was the most favored cause purchasing the commercial products but many subjects (37.0%) wanted to make the Korean traditional cookies at home. 9) All the quality properties of commercial products, taste, package, and storage property were favored but price and hygienic property were poorly evaluated by subjects. The evaluation about taste and package property of commercial products was affected by academic career (p<0.05), and shelf life was affected by age (P<0.01) significantly. And hygienic property was significantly affected by age and academic career respectively. (P<0.01).
With the goal of searching for the ways to help market traditional beverages as take-out products, this study conducted a survey over men and women over 20 years of age in Seoul and Gyeonggi Province. Their perceptions of importance in choosing traditional beverages and conventional drinks were examined for difference. As a result, taste, reliability, health, flavor, and price were important at general beverage, while taste, health, flavor, reliability, price, and color were in choosing traditional beverages. The participants mentioned recovery from fatigue as the most favorable added feature of traditional beverages, which was followed by beneficial for adult diseases and facilitating digestion. Their preferences toward using them to satisfying a sense of hunger was relatively low. The participants preferred price range was $3,000{\sim}3,500$ won, their favorite ingredients were functional ones, and their favorite shop design was a traditional style. It seems that the marketability of traditional beverages as take-out products is high. The promotion and development efforts should involve marketing to women, differentiation strategies from other drinks, a graceful image, reliable drinks, and additional functions such as recovery from fatigue and can benefit adult diseases.
To investigate the market potential for developing Gochujang(a traditional Korean hot pepper soybean paste) products in the UK including the European market, a qualitative consumer study utilizing focus groups was conducted on the $23rd{\sim}25^{th}$ of May, 2005. The focus group approach utilizes small groups of consumers and is very effective in determining the ways in which a product can be used, by examining consumer perceptions on the overall sensory properties of a product as well as variations in taste, flavour, and texture. A series of six consumer group studies were carried out in three different locations around the UK. Each group involved approximately eight respondents(a total of 48 respondents) and ran for at least 90 minutes. The respondents were recruited by specific criteria to achieve a cross-section of ages and genders. All respondents purchased, prepared, and ate home-cooked Oriental/Far Eastern cuisine. Consumer reactions to Gochujang in its traditional form, and in manufactured products, were explored in terms of appearance, texture, flavour, and taste the consumers' perceived uses and applications for products were also examined. Many consumers were familiar with ethnic cuisines such as Chinese, Thai, Japanese, Indian, and Tex/Mex, already preparing these foods using various convenience products at home at least twice a week. However, Korean cuisine was not mentioned by any of the respondents. The Gochujang sauce presented during the interview had broad based appeal mainly as a dipping sauce, and to a lesser degree as a marinade. Traditional Gochujang has the potential to inspire consumers who are looking for novel and authentic world cuisine products. From the sensory evaluations of various prototypes developed according to consumer reactions during the focus group interviews, three prototypes(a sauce for chicken, dipping sauce type, and BBQ sauce type) were determined for further consumer preference studies.
