This paper presents the sensor fusion algorithm that recognizes a primary vehicle by fusing radar and monocular vision data. In general, most of commercial radars may lose tracking of the primary vehicle, i.e., the closest preceding vehicle in the same lane, when it stops or goes with other preceding vehicles in the adjacent lane with similar velocity and range. In order to improve the performance degradation of radar, vehicle detection information from vision sensor and path prediction predicted by ego vehicle sensors will be combined for target classification. Then, the target classification will work with probabilistic association filters to track a primary vehicle. Finally the performance of the proposed sensor fusion algorithm is validated using field test data on highway.

Because most applications of vision-based object tracking demonstrate satisfactory operations only under very constrained environments that have simplifying assumptions or specific visual attributes, these approaches can't track target objects for the highly variable, unstructured, and dynamic environments like a traffic scene. An adaptive fusion framework is essential that takes advantage of the richness of visual information such as color, appearance shape and so on, especially at cluttered and dynamically changing scenes with partial occlusion[1]. This paper develops a particle filter based adaptive fusion framework and improves the robustness and adaptation of this framework by adding a new distinctive visual attribute, an image feature descriptor using SIFT (Scale Invariant Feature Transform)[2] and adding an automatic teaming scheme of the SIFT feature library according to viewpoint, illumination, and background change. The proposed algorithm is applied to track various traffic objects like vehicles, pedestrians, and bikes in a driver assistance system as an important component of the Intelligent Transportation System.
For the satisfying performance of a oil lubricator, design of a oil controller for the system which meets the required specifications and its supporting hardware that keep their functioning is important. Among the hardware of a control system, oil system are most vulnerable to malfunction. Thus it is necessary to keep track of accurate and reliable oil readings for good fusion oil lubricator performance. In case of oil lubricator ,data loss, ssr trigger error faults, they are detected by examining the data system output values and the major values of the system, and then the faults are recognized by the analysis of symptoms of faults. If necessary electronic -sensor values are synthesized according to the types of faults, and then they are used for the controller instead of the raw data. In this paper, a fast-32bit cpu micorprocessor applied to the control of flexible link system with the sensor fault problems in the error module fer exact positioning to show the applicability. It is shown that the fusion oil lubricator can provide a satisfactory loop performance even when the sensor faults occure

Although vehicles become more intelligent for convenience and safety of drivers, traffic accidents are increased more and more. Especially, car-to-car single rear impacts in the urban area are increased rapidly because of driver inattention. To prevent rear impacts in the urban area, commercial automobile vendor applies the low-speed short-distance collision warning system. This paper presents low-speed short-distance collision warning algorithm for the city driving by using sensor fusion of laser sensor and ultrasonic sensor. An experiment using embedded microprocessor in the driving track was used to demonstrate the feasibility of the collision warning algorithm.

This paper propose a fuzzy inference model for map building and navigation for a mobile robot with an active camera, which is intelligently navigating to the goal location in unknown environments using sensor fusion, based on situational command using an active camera sensor. Active cameras provide a mobile robot with the capability to estimate and track feature images over a hallway field of view. In this paper, instead of using "physical sensor fusion" method which generates the trajectory of a robot based upon the environment model and sensory data. Command fusion method is used to govern the robot navigation. The navigation strategy is based on the combination of fuzzy rules tuned for both goal-approach and obstacle-avoidance. To identify the environments, a command fusion technique is introduced, where the sensory data of active camera sensor for navigation experiments are fused into the identification process. Navigation performance improves on that achieved using fuzzy inference alone and shows significant advantages over command fusion techniques. Experimental evidences are provided, demonstrating that the proposed method can be reliably used over a wide range of relative positions between the active camera and the feature images.

In a multi-sensor multi-target tracking systems, the local sensors have the role of tracking the target and transferring the measurements to the fusion center. The measurements from the same target can arrive out of sequence called the out-of-sequence measurements(OOSMs). Out-of-sequence measurements can arise at the fusion center due to communication delay and varying preprocessing time for different sensor platforms. In general, the track fusion occurs to enhance the tracking performance of the sensors using the measurements from the sensors at the fusion center. The target informations can wive at the fusion center with the clutter informations in cluttered environment. In this paper, the OOSM update step with MPDA(Most Probable Data Association) is introduced and tested in several cases with the various clutter density through the Monte Carlo simulation. The performance of the MPDA with OOSM update step is compared with the existing NN, PDA, and PDA-AI for the air target tracking in cluttered and out-of-sequence measurement environment. Simulation results show that MPDA with the OOSM has compatible root mean square errors with out-of-sequence PDA-AI filter and the MPDA is sufficient to be used in out-of-sequence environment.

The smart air condition system is superior to conventional air condition system in the aspect of control accuracy, environmental preservation and it is foundation for intelligent vehicle such as electric vehicle, fuel cell vehicle. In this paper, failure analyses of smart air condition system will be performed and then sensor fusion technique will be proposed for fail safety of smart air condition system. A sensor fusion logic of air condition system by using CO sensor, $CO_2$ sensor and VOC, $NO_x$ sensor will be developed and simulated by fault injection simulation. The fusion technology of smart air condition system is generated in an experiment and a performance analysis is conducted with fusion algorithms. The proposed algorithm adds the error characteristic of each sensor as a conditional probability value, and ensures greater accuracy by performing the track fusion with the sensors with the most reliable performance.

Recently, considerable attention has been given to nickel-based superalloys used in additive manufacturing. However, additive manufacturing is limited by a slow build rate in obtaining optimal densities. In this study, optimal volumetric energy density (VED) was calculated using optimal process parameters of IN718 provided by additive manufacturing of laser powder-bed fusion. The laser power and scan speed were controlled using the same ratio to maintain the optimal VED and achieve a fast build rate. Cube samples were manufactured using seven process parameters, including an optimal process parameter. Analysis was conducted based on changes in density and melt-pool morphology. At a low laser power and scan speed, the energy applied to the powder bed was proportional to ${\frac{P}{\sqrt{V}}}$ and not ${\frac{P}{V}}$. At a high laser power and scan speed, a curved track was formed due to Plateau-Rayleigh instability. However, a wide melt-pool shape and continuous track were formed, which did not significantly affect the density. We were able to verify the validity of the VED formula and succeeded in achieving a 75% higher build rate than that of the optimal parameter, with a slight decrease in density and hardness.

This paper presents a Bluetooth and pedestrian dead reckoning (PDR)-based indoor fusion localization approach (BtPDR) using smartphones. A Bluetooth and PDR-based indoor fusion localization approach can localize the initial position of a smartphone with the received signal strength (RSS) of Bluetooth. While a smartphone is moving, BtPDR can track its position by fusing the localization results of PDR and Bluetooth RSS. In addition, BtPDR can adaptively modify the parameters of PDR. The contributions of BtPDR include: a Bluetooth RSS-based Probabilistic Voting (BRPV) localization mechanism, a probabilistic voting-based Bluetooth RSS and PDR fusion method, and a heuristic search approach for reducing the complexity of BRPV. The experiment results in a real scene show that the average positioning error is < 2m, which is considered adequate for indoor location-based service applications. Moreover, compared to the traditional PDR method, BtPDR improves the location accuracy by 42.6%, on average. Compared to state-of-the-art Wireless Local Area Network (WLAN) fingerprint + PDR-based fusion indoor localization approaches, BtPDR has better positioning accuracy and does not need the same offline workload as a fingerprint algorithm.
