Multi-Object Tracking using the Color-Based Particle Filter in ISpace with Distributed Sensor Network

  • Intelligent Space(ISpace) is the space where many intelligent devices, such as computers and sensors, are distributed. According to the cooperation of many intelligent devices, the environment, it is very important that the system knows the location information to offer the useful services. In order to achieve these goals, we present a method for representing, tracking and human following by fusing distributed multiple vision systems in ISpace, with application to pedestrian tracking in a crowd. And the article presents the integration of color distributions into particle filtering. Particle filters provide a robust tracking framework under ambiguity conditions. We propose to track the moving objects by generating hypotheses not in the image plan but on the top-view reconstruction of the scene. Comparative results on real video sequences show the advantage of our method for multi-object tracking. Simulations are carried out to evaluate the proposed performance. Also, the method is applied to the intelligent environment and its performance is verified by the experiments.

A New-Generation Sensorless Vector Control Scheme for Induction Motor Drive

  • This paper presents some results of performance evaluation test via actual machines of a new hybrid vector control utilizing a new indirect orientation scheme and stable filter embedded direct orientation scheme for induction motors without speed or position sensor. It is shown through the test by 0.3(kW) and 3.7(kW) motors that the proposed sensorless vector control has the following high potentialities: 1) speed range is 0 to 600(rad/s) or more, 2) zero-speed command is accepted and settles the machines at a stable standstill with no vibration 3) it can make machines to track variable command of acceleration and deceleration $\pm$6,000(rad/s2), 4) it can make machines to drive directly load of at least 26 times larger inertia than that of the machine, 5) it can make machines to produce much larger torque than the rating in torque control mode even at standstill. The performance confirmed by the test is far away for previous schemes or sensorless drive apparatuses.

  • Korea Railroad Research Institute (the following 'KRRI') built AGT test line in Gyeong San-city, Kyongsang-bukdo province, Korea on August, 2004. This test line is exclusively used for the test of the driverless rubber-tired AGT system, and applied with research result of AGT System Development Project like vehicles, power supply, control and signaling, track and infrastructure system. The test line is available for the test of rubber tired AGT system's performance, function, safety. In this paper, we described the operation system of test line for the test of performance, safety, reliability, and also system operation in emergency. Finally we present the operation result of test line.

Tracking and Face Recognition of Multiple People Based on GMM, LKT and PCA

  • In intelligent surveillance systems, it is required to robustly track multiple people. Most of the previous studies adopted a Gaussian mixture model (GMM) for discriminating the object from the background. However, it has a weakness that its performance is affected by illumination variations and shadow regions can be merged with the object. And when two foreground objects overlap, the GMM method cannot correctly discriminate the occluded regions. To overcome these problems, we propose a new method of tracking and identifying multiple people. The proposed research is novel in the following three ways compared to previous research: First, the illuminative variations and shadow regions are reduced by an illumination normalization based on the median and inverse filtering of the L*a*b* image. Second, the multiple occluded and overlapped people are tracked by combining the GMM in the still image and the Lucas-Kanade-Tomasi (LKT) method in successive images. Third, with the proposed human tracking and the existing face detection & recognition methods, the tracked multiple people are successfully identified. The experimental results show that the proposed method could track and recognize multiple people with accuracy.

무선통신기반 열차간격제어를 위한 전처리 기반 속도프로파일 계산 알고리즘 (Preprocessing-based speed profile calculation algorithm for radio-based train control)

  • 무선통신기반 열차제어시스템은 차상과 지상과의 양방향 무선통신을 기반으로 실시간 열차간격제어가 가능하므로 운전시격 단축 효과가 있으며 궤도회로를 사용하지 않기 때문에 설비투자를 절감 할 수 있다. 무선통신기반 열차제어시스템에서 가장 중요한 부분인 자동열차방호(ATP: Automatic Train Protection)는 실시간 열차위치 추적을 기반으로 선행열차와 후행열차간의 안전한 간격제어를 수행한다. 본 논문은 도시철도용 무선통신기반 열차제어시스템의 열차간격제어를 위한 전체적인 ATP 열차간격제어 알고리즘과 ATP의 처리속도 향상을 위해 전처리 기반 속도프로파일 계산 알고리즘을 제안한다. 제안된 속도프로파일 계산 알고리즘은 사전에 선로와 열차의 영구속도제한에 해당하는 프로파일을 미리 계산하여 가장제한적인 속도프로파일로 활용한다. 만약 운행 중 특정 노선 구간에 임시속도제한이 발생하는 경우 미리 계산된 영구속도프로파일에 임시속도제한을 반영하여 해당 구간의 속도프로파일을 업데이트함으로써 계산효율을 높일 수 있다. 제안된 속도프로파일 계산 알고리즘의 성능을 평가하기 위해 시간복잡도 O-notation으로 분석하였으며 그 결과 기존에 비해 시간 복잡도를 개선할 수 있음을 확인하였다. 또한 ATP 열차간격제어 검증을 위해 열차간격제어 시뮬레이터를 제작하였으며 실험결과를 통해 다양한 운영상황에서 안전한 열차간격제어가 이루어지고 있음을 확인하였다.

Simplified Controller Design Method for Digitally Controlled LCL-Type PWM Converter with Multi-resonant Quasi-PR Controller and Capacitor-Current-Feedback Active Damping

  • To track the sinusoidal current under stationary frame and suppress the effects of low-order grid harmonics, the multi-resonant quasi-proportional plus resonant (PR) controller has been extensively used for digitally controlled LCL-type pulse-width modulation (PWM) converters with capacitor-current-feedback active damping. However, designing the controller is difficult because of its high order and large number of parameters. Moreover, the computation and PWM delays of the digitally controlled system significantly affect damping performance. In this study, the delay effect is analyzed by using the Nyquist diagrams and the system stability constraint condition can be obtained based on the Nyquist stability criterion. Moreover, impact analysis of the control parameters on the current loop performance, that is, steady-state error and stability margin, identifies that different control parameters play different decisive roles in current loop performance. Based on the analysis, a simplified controller design method based on the system specifications is proposed. Following the method, two design examples are given, and the experimental results verify the practicability and feasibility of the proposed design method.

SiC-MOSFET 기반 11-kW급 양방향 탑재형 충전기 성능 (Performance of an SiC-MOSFET Based 11-kW Bi-directional On-board Charger)

  • The design and performance of a SiC-MOSFET-based 11-kW bi-directional on-board charger (OBC) for electric vehicles is presented. The OBC consists of a three-phase two-level AC/DC converter and a CLLLC resonant converter. All the power devices are implemented with SiC-MOSFETs to reduce the conduction losses generated in the OBC, and the DC-link voltage is designed to track the level of battery voltage in the forward and reverse powering modes. As a result, the CLLLC resonant converter always runs at the switching frequency near the resonant frequency, resulting in high-efficiency operation at the maximum powering modes. As the DC-link voltage varies according to the battery voltage, the AC/DC converter in the proposed OBC adopts an adaptive DC-link voltage controller. The performance of the proposed 11-kW OBC is verified by a prototype converter with the following specifications: three-phase 60-Hz 380-V input, 11-kW capacity, and battery voltage range of 214-413-V, resulting in the conversion efficiency of over 95.0-% in the forward and reverse powering modes.

비선형 타이어모델을 이용한 완전능동형 4WS 제어방법에 관한 연구 (A Study on the Full Active 4WS Control Method Using Nonlinear Tire Model)

  • The understeer characteristics of four wheel steering system(4WS system) in a high speed region have a negative effect upon the yaw velocity, leading to a decrease in the handling ability of vehicle. As a result, even if the side slip angle of vehicle can be kept up a minimum, a driver must compensate a decrease in yaw velocity by increasing the steering wheel angle in order to track the desired vehicle path. In this study, to keep the side slip angle of vehicle at zero and achieve a suitable yaw velocity in vehicle motion, a full active 4WS system(FA 4WS system) with actively steerable front and rear wheels is presented based on a nonlinear vehicle model and a model following control of yaw velocity. And the analysis results show the fat that, besides the excellent stability of vehicle, the FA 4WS system is able to realize better handling performance of vehicle than the previous 4WS systems in the high speed region.

  • Test of Caterpillar Challenger 65 tractor which has rubber tracks, and articulated four wheel drive tractor with dual wheels and a mechanical front wheel drive tractor were conducted on an unplowed and plouwed wheat stubble field. The following parameters were analyzed : tractive efficiency (ηv), net tractive coefficient ($\phi$n), slip ($\sigma$) , drawbar pull(Fv), drawbar power (Pv) and forward velocity(v). The maximum net tractive coefficient was established at the tractive efficiency of 0.60 on the unplowed wheat stubble field : for the Challenger 65 tractor 0.855 ; 4WD 0.624 and MFWD 0.534 and on the plowed wheat stubble field with the tractive efficiency of 0.40 for the Challenger 65 tractor 0.82 : 4WD 0.57 and for tractor MFWD 0.48.
