  • In this paper, an adaptive beam tracing method with revised subdivision technique is proposed, in which the beam is generated by a set of three rays. According to reflection and/or refraction of the rays on the buildings and/or ground, additional rays are generated adaptively and the beam is subdivided efficiently and automatically. After generation of the set of beams, we transform the electromagnetic wave propagation data into volume data. Then one can visualize the data of propagation with reflection, refraction and interaction in full three dimensional space at any viewpoint by the so-called ray casting algorithm, which is one of the most useful methods in compute. graphics(CG).

  • Radiative transfer by nongray gas mixtures with nonuniform concentration and temperature profiles is studied by using the statistical narrow-band model and the ray-tracing method with the sufficiently accurate T$\_$60/ quadrature set. Transmittances through the nonhomogeneous gas mixtures are calculated by using the Curtis-Godson approximation. Three different cases with different temperature and concentration profiles are considered profiles are considered to obtain benchmark solutions for the radiative transfer by nongray gas mixtures. The solutions obtained from this study are verified and found to be very well matched with the previous solutions for uniform gas mixtures. The results presented in this paper can be used as benchmark solutions in developing various solution methods for radiative transfer by nongray gas mixtures.

  • In multi-dimensional systems, various solution schemes for radiative transfer are suggested but the applicabilities and accuracies of these schemes have not yet fully tested due to the lack of reference solutions especially for nongray gases. In this paper we present some precise radiative transfer solutions for a black walled 3-dimensional cylindrical system filled with nongray gases having uniform temperature and concentration. The ray-tracing method with the $T_N$ quadrature set and the SNB model are used to obtain the radiative transfer solutions by the nongray gases. The solutions presented in this paper are proved to be quite accurate and can be regarded as the reference solutions for the radiative transfer by nongray gases.

  • There are many changed while a design is completed. Therefore, if the impact of the design changes is estimated, it may result in the improvement of design efficiency. But, the design changes have various types and affect other parts of the design system. Hence, it is difficult to deal with design changes directly. The purpose of this research is to develop a systematic change propagation tracing algorithm and a method of change impact analysis and then, to implement a change impact analysis system. Process based design is set up for the field of this research. Also the design, composed of design parameters and constraints, is set up for the subject of the research. Change propagation tracing algorithm traces change propagation based on the following concept : If the design parameters are changed, other parameters within the constrains including them may be changed. Using the result of change propagation tracing algorithm, changeable parameters, constraints and tasks can be found. The method of change impact analysis, to calculate change impact value from this changeable tasks, is developed. Change propagation tracing algorithm and the method of change impact analysis are implemented into change impact analysis system and it is applied to the redesign of 2 stage gear drives. It can support different kinds of design activities systematically. especially, at the redesign step, where many design change alternatives exist, change impact value of each alternative exist, change impact value of each alternative is calculated and design change is performed toward direction to minimize the impact of design change. Consequently, it is expected to improve the efficiency of the whole design.

  • In order to determine if a relationship exists between the clinical symptoms of TMJ dysfunction and the reproducibility of mandibular movements, twenty one subjects were chosen. The control group consisted of 5 subjects who were determined to be free from signs and symptoms of dysfunction . The sixteen experimental subjects were selected on the basis of their having dysfunctional symptoms. The author obtained two sets of pantographic tracings. Each set consisted of tracings from three both lateral and one protrusive movements. A second set of tracings were recorded immediately on the new recording papers using the same procedure as the first tracing. The tracings were scored by Pantographic reproducibility index (PRI). The obtained results were as follows. 1. Mean PRI scores of groups increased as the degree of dysfunction were increased. 2. For the groups of no or slight dysfunctional symptoms the PRI scores of the second tracing were smaller than the first one, wherea the scores of the second tracing from $D_2,\;D_3$ group were larger than the first tracing. 3. Differences between the mean PRI scores of control group and those of experimental group were statistically significant. 4. The second sets of tracings were more reliable statistically than those of first ones. 5. PRI can be used as a meaningful aid for the evaluation of the diagnostic and therapeutic results of treatment modalities for the TMJ dysfunction. 6. At 3east two sets of tracings should be recorded when the PRI is to be used to detect the incoordinated movements of TMJ dysfunction patient. 7. PRI scores of control group ($D_0$) was 137.7, thus, mandibular movement was reproducible, whereas PRI scores of experimental groups ($D_1,\;D_2,\;D_3$) were 22.5, 27.7, 30.45 respectively, thus were nonreproducible.

  • We consider ${\omega}$-chaos as defined by S. H. Li in 1993. We show that c-dense ${\omega}$-scrambled sets are present in every transitive system with two-sided limit shadowing property (TSLmSP) and that every transitive map on topological graph has a dense Mycielski ${\omega}$-scrambled set. As a preliminary step, we provide a characterization of dynamical properties of maps with TSLmSP.

  • Voronoi diagrams have been known for numerous important applications in science and engineering including CAD/CAM. Especially, the Voronoi diagram for 3D spheres has been known as very useful tool to analyze spatial structural properties of molecules or materials modeled by a set of spherical atoms. In this paper, we present two algorithms, the edge-tracing algorithm and the region-expansion algorithm, for constructing the Voronoi diagram of 3D spheres and applications to protein structure analysis. The basic scheme of the edge-tracing algorithm is to follow Voronoi edges until the construction is completed in O(mn) time in the worst-case, where m and n are the numbers of edges and spheres, respectively. On the other hand, the region-expansion algorithm constructs the desired Voronoi diagram by expanding Voronoi regions for one sphere after another via a series of topology operations, starting from the ordinary Voronoi diagram for the centers of spheres. It turns out that the region-expansion algorithm also has the worst-case time complexity of O(mn). The Voronoi diagram for 3D spheres can play key roles in various analyses of protein structures such as the pocket recognition, molecular surface construction, and protein-protein interaction interface construction.

  • The photovoltaic is one of the most important sustainable technologies appliable to architectures. The power performance mainly depends on the installation conditions of them. This study aims to evaluate the power performance of photovoltaic system by the installation conditions, the tracking methods and reflecting mirrors. For the study, the Solar Pro computer simulations have been conducted on installation angles, solar azimuth and solar altitude. Also, the field mock-up tests are performed to of its application to verify the simulation results. Both the results of the experiment and the simulation have proved that the efficiency of 90-degree fixed angle method was higher than that of 30-degree fixed angle, the efficiency of altitude tracking was better than that of azimuth tracking method, and changing both the altitude and the azimuth together is more efficient rather than the shortened tracing way. In addition, the light-concentrating method in which the incidence angle of the sun is controlled by an adhered reflector has been analyzed to have better efficiency than the general method of tracing according to the orbit of the sun. Therefore, this thesis is expected to offer the basic data to set a more effective tracing-type of photovoltaic power generation system in the future. For this, more researches are to be conducted hereafter on a high efficiency drive motor and the establishment of an economic system.
