A Study of Tour Game Using LBS based on Smart Phone (스마트폰 기반의 LBS를 이용한 투어게임에 관한 연구)

  • This paper proposed a tour game using LBS based on smart phone. This game is based on the historical background of Silla and spatial background of GyoengJu. A Event of tour game uses a smartphone-based LBS. Game events has occurred by comparing pre-measured GPS values and smart phone A-GPS values. This paper has looked at game planning and run screen. In addition, the future direction of the game were discussed.

Research on the Short-term Memory Effects on VR Tour Games

  • This thesis mainly studies the impact of short-term memory in VR tour games on users. The thesis is based on VR tour games and short-term memory, using the literature research method, the practical research method, and the investigation method. First, the author designs and makes VR tour games on the Beijing-Hangzhou Grand Canal, and then conducts a questionnaire survey and designs a control experiment. The experiment explores the differences of the short-term memory level of individuals between the normal environment and the VR tour game environment. It verifies whether the influential hypothesis proposed by the research is correct. Research conclusions show that: VR tour games have an impact on short-term memory. Compared with the normal environment, the subjects have better performance in the VR tour game mode and can maintain a high short-term memory level for a longer time. Its conclusions should promote the cultural propaganda of scenic spots and provide theoretical support for tourists' short-term memory of scenic spots culture.

  • This paper contains the implementation of a game as a feature of a package tour management application with the Digital Game-based Learning approach that helps tourists learn about tourism spots. The game is written in Java language for an Android smartphone that is designed to be integrated with Content Management System (CMS) to manage the game's contents and assets. The game contains one tourism spots introductory level and five quiz game levels with each having a reward (points) and punishment (time penalty) system, then summed the results to obtain the total score from all levels. The total score will determine a tourist's performance and be listed on an online leaderboard to increase competitiveness among tourists. The conducted performance evaluation of the game shows satisfactory results of 0.9 seconds of response time from the database to the game. Implementing the game presented in this paper will potentially reduce the burden of the tour guide and increase the efficiency of managing the tour group.

  • This paper proposed a smart phone tour game using A-GPS. This game is a fused content of tourism and education.   • This paper present a design and implementation of a Contents Management System (CMS) to be integrated into a game that uses a Digital Game-based Learning (DGBL) approach for helping tourists learn about tourism spots as a part of the Package Tour Application. In terms of design, this paper shows a system architecture that consists of a database to store the game's content such as tourism spot information, score and question configuration, score history, et cetera, a web application to manage the content and a Rest API to delivers the content to the mobile game. Meanwhile, in terms of implementation, MySQL database and PHP programming language are used. Moreover, a time response performance evaluation is conducted which resulted in between 0.77 s to 1.4 s from CMS to the database. Once successfully integrated with the game, the CMS will allow the game to be played on multiple tours simultaneously, without having to rebuild the game for every package tour group.

  • A college campus tour is a great opportunity to promote the school environment, facilities and history to visitors or prospective students. Along with the population of smart phones and the advancement of information and communication technologies, many universities have recently provided mobile applications for campus tour, and some are starting to utilize augmented reality technology. However, most of the existing campus tour augmented reality systems tended to present a description-oriented campus tour guide. Their main focus is simply to provide information about the campus's main buildings or symbols. This study focuses on self-guided tours of the campus through games making new students and visitors to get familiar with the campus in a more natural and intuitive way. In this paper we present the design and development of a location-based mobile augmented reality treasure hunt game to enhance the user experience.

  • In the era of transmedia, it has become normalized to use different media for the same content. The paper of this research is, in such a transmedia era, in order to meet the needs of the public, what elements should be considered when adapting a novel into a game. The study takes the novel "Zhu Xian" and its game adaptation "Zhu Xian Hand Tour" as the research object, focusing on the worldview and characters, analyzing the elements needed for the adaptation, and uses a questionnaire to understand players' satisfaction with the elements of the adaptation. The results show that the audience satisfaction of the worldview and character visualization elements in the adaptation of "The Zhu Xian Hand Tour" is high, but the basic information and appearance elements in the ethnic composition of the worldview and the character visualization elements need to be modified. The study can provide a design suggestion for game planners and designers.

  • The purpose of this study was to suggest strategies for the development of mushroom associated tour villages with the aged. Mushroom has many strong points to use a theme for making a park and tour village. Especially it can be easily cultivated by the aged and a popularist commodity. The 5 days work system in a week enlarge the chance for the people to get a weekend tour. The number of the people who want to live in rural area after retire is getting increased also. This trend needs the development of tour villages as a kind of the silver agricultural industry in rural area. "Work & Play" concepts should be considered as a pivotal strategy to develope mushroom associated tour villages with the aged workforce. Mushroom can be a good theme attracting the tourist when the cultivating, showing, processing and marketing mushroom are welly connected in a village. And the traditional family game and culture must be adjusted for the tourist.

A Study on 3D Background Image Construction using TIP (TIP기술을 이용한 3차원 배경 영상 구축에 관한 연구)

  • In this paper we propose the methodology for 3D background image construction in computer games. This methodology was developed based on TIP (Tour Into the Picture) using a vanishing line Proposed by Kang et at. The methodology Proposed in this study can simply implement a 3D background for a computer game with a background model which is very complex or based on a real picture. Compared to the graphics technologies generally used, the proposed methodology does not need the process of modeling elaborate 3D information of a background, and hence can display the background even on a low grade personal computer using a small reference image. TIP technology was successfully applied to the implementation of a background model for a computer game and was found to be appropriate especially for real time games.
