  • In this article we consider axes of a complete embedded minimal surface in $R^3$ of finite total curvature, and then prove that there is no planar ends at which the Gauss map have the minimum branching order if the minimal surface has a single axis.

  • In this paper, bi-slant pseudo-Riemannian submersions from para-Kaehler manifolds onto pseudo-Riemannian manifolds are introduced. We examine some geometric properties of three types of bi-slant submersions. We give non-trivial examples of such submersions. Moreover, we obtain curvature relations between the base space, total space and the fibers.

  • This study aims to develop a highly reproducible, optimal frame design algorithm using variations in the curvature of armscye circumference, which will provide the basics for remodeling the 3D human body shape with the concept of reverse design used to develop total contents for the apparel industry. 1. The results of the experiment proved that ratio value was significantly efficient than absolute value of curvature variation to extract feature points in the armscye circumference 2. For the shoulder(1st and 2nd quadrant) and front armhole(3rd quadrant) parts of the armscye circumference, frame remodeling with the positive point of inflection led to the completion of a highly reproducible frame. 3. Similarly, even for the rear armhole part(4th quadrant) in the armscye circumference, it was found that frame remodeling using the positive maximum point of inflection resulted in highly reproducible body shape with the maximum point of inflection situated within the range of split angles $305^{\circ}{\sim}330^{\circ}$, while frame remodeling using simultaneously the two largest points of inflection including maximum point of inflection led to highly reproducible body shape with the maximum point of inflection out of the range $305^{\circ}{\sim}330^{\circ}$. 4. Based upon the optimal frame design algorithm developed in this study, section-specific feature points in the armscye circumference were extracted depending on the rate of curvature variation and remodeling with spline curves was conducted. The results indicate a remarkably high reproducibility(98.6%) and suggest that the algorithm developed in this study is suitable for human body modeling.

  • A shape data is used one oi most important feature for image retrieval as data to reflect meaning of image. Especially, structural feature of shape is widely studied because it represents primitive properties of shape and relation information between basic units well. However, most structural features of shape have the problem that it is not able to guarantee an efficient search time because the features are expressed as graph or tree. In order to solve this problem, we generate curvature-based morphological graph, End design key to cluster shapes from this graph. Proposed this graph have contour features and morphological features of a shape. Shape retrieval is accomplished by stages. We reduce a search space through clustering, and determine total similarity value through pattern matching of external curvature. Various experiments show that our approach reduces computational complexity and retrieval cost.

  • In this paper, an attempt has been made to analyze the theoretically and verify experimentally the effect of curvature on the radiation characteristics of microstrip array antennas mounted conformally on the concave surface and the convex surface of the cylindrical body. The analysis of single element microstrip antenna is made by using the analysis method of Transmission Line Model. The theory of array antennas is established by application of the method of transformed coordinates, in which the translation and the ratation about each single element arrayed two-demensionally on the nonplanar surface are under consideration, and it is investigated by computation of the synthetic electric field strength in the far zone. In addition, various radiation characteristics, such as return loss, resonant frequency, radiation pattern, half-power, beamwidth, gain, are measrued and compared with the theroetical values according to the variation of curvature, by designing and building 4-element array microstrip antenna operating at 10 GHz, and microstrip feed lines. As predicted in theroy, it is verified that radiation pattern of antennas mounted on the concave and the convex surfaces alike broadens as the radius of curvature decreases. And for the curved surfaces, aggrement between computed values of the total synthetic radiation power pattern by the method of transformed coordinates and measured valuse is good. Besides, it is found that resonant frequency, input impedance and gain are hardly affected by the radius of curvature.

  • A coupled wall consists of two or more reinforced concrete (RC) shear walls (SWs) connected by RC coupling beams (CBs) or steel CBs (hybrid-coupled walls). To fill the gap in the literature on the plastic hinge length of coupled walls, including coupled and hybrid-coupled shear walls, a parametric study using experimentally validated numerical models was conducted considering the axial stress ratio (ASR) and coupling ratio (CR) as the study variables. A total of sixty numerical models, including both coupled and hybrid-coupled SWs, have been developed by varying the ASR and CR within the ranges of 0.027-0.25 and 0.2-0.5, respectively. A detailed analysis was conducted in order to estimate the ultimate drift, ultimate capacity, curvature profile, yielding height, and plastic hinge length of the models. Compared to hybrid-coupled SWs, coupled SWs possess a relatively higher capacity and curvature. Moreover, increasing the ASR changes the walls' behavior to a column-like member which decreases the walls' ultimate drift, ductility, curvature, and plastic hinge length. Increasing the CR of the coupled SWs increases the walls' capacity and the risk of abrupt shear failure but decreases the walls' ductility, ultimate drift and plastic hinge length. However, CR has a negligible effect on hybrid-coupled walls' ultimate drift and moment, curvature profile, yielding height and plastic hinge length. Lastly, using the obtained results two equations were derived as a function of CR and ASR for calculating the plastic hinge length of coupled and hybrid-coupled SWs.

  • This paper is an experimental study on the flexural strength and ductility capacity of reinforced high performance concrete beams with the concrete which has compressive strength of 600~700kg/$\textrm{cm}^2$, slump value of 20~25cm and slump-flow value of 60~70cm. Total 8 beams with different tensile reinforcement ratio and pattern of loading were tested. Form the results of reinforced high performance concrete beams, the equivalent stress block parameters proposed by MacGregor et al. or New Zealand code are recommended to use. Also, an extreme fiber concrete compressive strain of reinforced high performance concrete beams are distributed 0.0033~0.0048. In reinforced high performance concrete beams, reinforcement ratio in order to insure curvature ductility index 2 and 4 propose by ACI code should be less than those of reinforced normal strength concrete beams.

  • In this paper a new learning algorithm for curvature smoothing and improved generalization for multi-layer neural networks is proposed. To enhance the generalization ability a constraint term of hidden neuron activations is added to the conventional output error, which gives the curvature smoothing characteristics to multi-layer neural networks. When the total cost consisted of the output error and hidden error is minimized by gradient-descent methods, the additional descent term gives not only the Hebbian learning but also the synaptic weight decay. Therefore it incorporates error back-propagation, Hebbian, and weight decay, and additional computational requirements to the standard error back-propagation is negligible. From the computer simulation of the time series prediction with Santafe competition data it is shown that the proposed learning algorithm gives much better generalization performance.

  • An improved formulation for spatial stability md free vibration of thin-walled curved beams with variable curvature and non-symmetric cross sections are presented based on the displacement field considering the second order terms of finite semitangential rotations. By introducing Vlasov's assumptions, the total potential energy is derived from the principle of linearized virtual work for a continuum. In this formulation, all displacement parameters and the warping function are defined at the centroid axis so that the coupled terms of bending and torsion are added to the elastic strain energy. Also, the potential energy due to initial stress resultants is consistently derived corresponding to the semitangential rotation and moment. The cubic Hermitian polynomials are utilized as shape functions for development of the curved thin-walled beam element having eight degrees of freedom. In order to illustrate the accuracy and practical usefulness of this study, . numerical solutions for free vibration of arches are presented and compared with resells of other researchers and solutions analyzed by the ABAQUS's shell element.
