금궤신기탕 및 도홍사물탕(桃紅四物湯)이 Puromycin Aminonucleoside로 유발(誘發)된 백서(白鼠)의 신증(腎症)에 미치는 영향(影響) (The Effects Of Geumguesingitang And Dohongsamultang On Rats With Nephrosis Induced By Puromycin Aminonucleoside)

  • The effects of Geumguesingitang and Dohongsamultang on rats with nephrosis induced by a single tail-intravenous injection of puromycin aminonucleoside(PAN), 2.5mg/l00g of body weight were evaluated in the present study. The effects of Geumguesingitang and Dohongsamultang on PAN nephrosis were evaluated by measuring (1)the concentrations of albumin, total protein, total lipid, cholesterol, triglyceride, creatinine, blood urea nitrogen(BUN) and uric acid in the serum, (2)the concentrations of protein, creatinine, glucose, occult blood and volume of the 24 hours urine and (3)the volume of intake water. The results are summerized as follows; 1. In the Control group as compared to the Normal. the amount of protein of 24 hours urine was significantly increased, the concentrations of albumin and total protein were significantly decreased. Total lipid, cholesterol and triglyceride in the serum were significantly increased. The concentrations of creatinine, BUN, uric acid in the serum, the amount of glucose and occult blood of 24 hours urine were also increased significantly. 2. In the Geumguesingitang group as compared to the Control, the increase in the amount of urinary protein during 24 hours induced by PAN was significantly suppressed, and the concentrations of total protein and albumin in the serum were significantly increased. The concentrations of total lipid, cholesterol and triglyceride in the serum were significantly inhibited. The decrease of the concentrations of creatinine and uric acid in the serum were also observed significantly. 3. In the Dohongsamultang group as compared to the Control, the increase of the amount of protein and glucose of the 24 hours urine induced by PAN were significantly inhibited, and the concentrations of total protein and albumin in the serum were increased significantly. The concentrations of total lipid, cholesterol and triglyceride in the serum were decreased significantly. The decrease of the concentrations of creatinine and uric acid in the serum were observed significantly. It can be inferred that Geumguesingitang has effects on improving proteinuria, hypoproteinemia effectively. It has an effect on hyperlipidemia significantly relieved. And relieving azotemia when nephrotic syndrome is accompanied by the acute renal failure. It can be inferred that Dohongsamultang improves hyperlipidemia effectively. It has effects on proteinuria, hypoproteinemia in nephrotic syndrome significantly relieved. And relieving azotemia when nephrotic syndrome is accompanied by the acute renal failure.

벤젠 노출 근로자의 생물학적 모니터링 지표로서의 요중 S-Phenylmercapturic Acid에 관한 연구 (Urinary S-Phenylmercapturic Acid as a Biomarker for Biological Monitoring in Workers Exposed to Benzene)

  • This study was to evaluate the associations between urinary S-Phenyl-mercapturic acid(S-PMA) as a new indicator of biological monitoring for low level of exposure to benzene and independent variables such as the air concentration of benzene in the breathing zone of workers, the years of work, and smoking. In this study the subjects were the total of 145 drawn from 53 workers who were occupationally exposed to benzene and 92 workers who were not. The results were as follows: 1. In the workplace geometric mean concentration of benzene in the breathing zone of workers was 0.31 ppm(0.02 - 3.26 ppm) for the spraying workers and 0.25 ppm(0.02 - 3.95 ppm) for the printing workers. 2. The geometric mean of uninary S-PMA for non exposed group was $8.9{\mu}g/g$ creatinine($0.6-72.3{\mu}g/g$ creatinine), 80.3% (74 workers) of the total non-exposed workers indicated less than $20{\mu}g/g$ creatinine of uninary S-PMA. The difference of uninary S-PMA by sex, age, smoking was not significant. 3. The geometric mean of urinary S-PMA for workers who were exposed to benzene was $37.2{\mu}g/g$ creatinine, and was four times higher than that of workers who were not exposed. And 79.3% (42 workers) of the total exposed workers indicated more than $20{\mu}g/g$ creatinine of urinary S-PMA. 4. Regarding the level of benzene in the air, urinary S-PMA was the highest level of $147.9{\mu}g/g$ creatinine in the workers who were exposed to air concentration of 0.5 ppm of benzene and was higher as the level in the air was increased. 5. The correlation coefficient between log urinary S-PMA and log benzene concentration in the breathing zone was 0.80, and the following linear equation was found between urinary log S-PMA and log benzene concentration in the breathing zone : log S-PMA(${\mu}g/g$ creatinine) = 0.564 log benzene in air(ppm) + 0.192 (n=53, r=0.80, p=0.000) In conclusion, the concentration of S-PMA in urine proved to be good parameter for biological monitoring benzene exposure at the workplace even at low level of benzene in air.

비만 제2형 당뇨병 환자에서 중성지방과 C-peptide 증가 (Triglycerides and C-peptide are Increased in Obese Type 2 Diabetic Patients)

  • Aim To evaluate blood pressure, blood glucose and serum lipid level in obese and nonobese type 2 diabetic patients. Methods 206 obese(76 male, 130 female) and 442 nonobese(208 male, 234 female) type 2 diabetic patients underwent fasting blood glucose, 2-hour postprandial blood glucose, $HbA_1c$ total cholesterol, triglyceride, high density lipoprotein, microalbuminuria, blood urea nitrogen, creatinine and C-peptide were measured. Diabetes was diagnosed according to the American Diabetes Association(ADA)criteria. Obesity was defined as body mass index(BMI, kilograms per meters squared)${\geq}25$. Results In male, systolic blood pressure, triglycerides, microalbuminuria and C-peptide were significant higher in obese than nonobese patients. Fasting blood glucose were significantly lower in obese than nonobese patients. Diastolic blood pressure, 2-hour postprandial blood glucose, $HbA_1c$, total cholesterol, high density lipoprotein, blood urea nitrogen, and creatinine were no difference between 2 groups. In female, triglycerides and C-peptide were significant higher in obese than nonobese patients, Blood pressure, fasting blood glucose, 2-hour postprandial blood glucose, $HbA_1c$, total cholesterol, high density lipoprotein, microalbuminuria, blood urea nitrogen, and creatinine were no difference between 2 groups. Conclusion Our present study supports that increased triglycerides play a major role in increasing the risk of coronary heart disease(CHD) in obese women type 2 diabetic patients.

복령(茯笭)이 Cyclosporin A로 유발(誘發)된 흰쥐의 신손상(腎損傷)에 미치는 영향(影響) (A study on the effects of Poria extract on rat with nephrotoxicity induced by Cyclosporin A)

  • The purpose of this study is to find out the effects of Poria extract on rat's nephrotoxicity induced by CsA. The experimental animals were divided into 3 groups and treated as follows; Nothing was given to Sample A, Sample B was given normal saline after IV injection of CsA and Sample C was given Poria extract after CsA injection. After precription of medicine, serum BUN, creatinine, total protein, sodium, potassium, chloride ions were measured. 1. Changes in serum level. ALT, BUN, chloride ion were significantly reduced in experimental group as compaired to control group, and total protein showed significant elevation in experimental group. AST was reduced, but not significant and creatine level was below the normal range. K level showed mild elevation initially and later showed mild decrease, but no significance is noted. There were no significant differance in the sodium level. 2. Changes in Urine level. Urinary specific gravity showed significant increase in experimental group compaired to control group. Urinary creatinine level initially increased, and later decreased but showed no significance. To conclude, it can be inferred that Poria may improve nephrotoxicity and hepatotoxicity in rat induced by Cyclosporin A.

체외순환후 출혈감소와 신기능에 미치는 저용량 aprotinin효과 (Effect of low-dose Aprotinin on Postoperative Bleeding and Renal Function after Cardiopulmonary Bypass)

  • 체외순환에 의한 개심술시 술후 출혈을 줄이고 아울러 혈액제재 투여를 감소하기 위하여 여러병원에서 최근 수년간 aprotinin을 Hammersmith 요법에 준하여 고용량으로 투여해 오면서 위 약제의 부작용이나 경제적 비용도 함께 고려되어 오고있다. 특히 aprotinin은 신장에서 대사되기 때문에 다른 부작용보다 aprotinin이 미치는 신기능장애에 대하여서도 논의되고 있다. aprotinin을 저용량으로 투여하였을 때 그 지혈효과와 아울러 신기능에 미치는 영향을 조사하기 위하여 체외순환을 시행한 33 명의 환자를 각각 무작위로 실험군(16명)과 대조군(17 명)으로 나누어 전향적 연구를 시행하였다. 출혈 감소의 정도를 파악하기 위하여 혈중 혈색소와 혈소판수치 및 수술후 출혈량을 수술전, 수술후에 측정하였고, 신기능 장애정도를 파악하기 위하여 혈중 BUN과 creatinine, 그리고 뇨 creatinine, 총단백질량, albumin, 및 alpha-1-microglobulin 수치를 수술전후로 측정하였다. 수술직후 6 시간동안 출혈량은 대조군보다 aprotinin군에서 상당히 감소되어(406$\pm$303 ml vs 243$\pm$123 ml ; P = 0.037) 통계적으로 유의한 차이를 보였을 뿐만아니라 수술후 24 시간 동안 출혈량도 통계적으로 의미있게 감소되었다( 869$\pm$570 ml vs 494$\pm$358 ml ; P = 0.045). 뇨중 alpha-1-microglobulin/creatinine 이나 microalbumin/creatinine는 대조군에 비하여 aprotinin군에서 수술후에 증가되었으나 통계적으로 유의한 차이는 없었다 (수술후 3 일째 alpha-1-microglobulin/creatinine; 24$\pm$10 vs 55$\pm$23, microalbumin/creatinine ; 38$\pm$25 vs 56$\pm$19 ). 일반적인 다른 신기능지표상에서도 두 군에서 유의한 차이는 없었다. 본연구에서 aprotinin을 저용량으로 투여함으로써 개심술시 체외순환후 발생하는 출혈량을 줄일 수 있을 뿐만 아니라 신기능에 영향이 없었다.

독활기생탕(獨活寄生湯)이 백서(白鼠)의 혈액(血液)에 미치는 영향(影響) (Effects of Dokwhalgisaentang on the Blood in Rats)

  • In order to study the effect of Dokwhalgisaentang on the blood in normal rats with Dokwhalgisaentang extract solution was adminstrated in rats. The rats carried on every day for 5days, l0days and 15days respecitively on the corresponding blood in rats, and thereafter the contents of serum BUN, creatinine, creatine, total protein, albumin, total bilirubin, cholesterol were measured in rats. The following results have been obtained : 1. Dokwhalgisaentang extract decreased the serum BUN significantly in rats. 2. Dokwhalgisaentang extract decreased the serum creatine significantly in rats. 3. Dokwhalgisaentang extract decreased the serum creatinine significantly in rats. 4. Dokwhalgisaentang extract decreased the serum total protein significantly in rats. 5. Dokwhalgisaentang extract decreased the serum albumin significantly in rats. 6. Dokwhalgisaentang extract increased the serum total bilirubin significantly in rats. 7. Dokwhalgisaentang extract decreased the serum cholresterol significantly in rats.

NaF 첨가량이 흰쥐의 NEFA 및 Uric Acid 농도에 미치는 영향 (Effects of NaF Contents on the NEFA and Uric Acid Concentrations in Rats)

  • 본 연구는 NaF 경구 투여가 Sprague Dawley계 수컷 흰쥐의 혈청 중 non-esterified fatty acid (NEFA), blood urea nitrogen (BUN), creatinine, uric acid 및 전해질 농도에 미치는 영향을 조사하기 위하여, 기본식이를 급여한 대조군인 BG군과 기본식이에 NaF 경구 투여군(NF3~50군) 9그룹의 식이군으로 나누어 5주간 실험사육을 행하였다. 흰쥐의 NEFA와 BUN, creatinine, uric acid 농도는 NaF 농도에 비례적으로 증가하였으며, 고농도의 NaF 투여군에서 대조군보다 유의적인 차이로 높게 관찰되었다(𝛼=0.05). 한편, 전해질 농도 중 total calcium (T-Ca)과 인(Pi) 농도는 대조군보다 NaF 투여군에서 낮게 동정되었으며, NaF 20 mg 이상 경구 투여한 군에서 유의적인 차이를 보였다(𝛼=0.05). 흰쥐의 NaF 경구 투여 처리는 농도가 증가함에 따라 NEFA 및 BUN, creatinine, uric acid의 농도가 상승하였으며, 전해질 농도는 저하되는 것으로 나타나 신장 기능 장애 등 바람직하지 않은 영향을 주는 것으로 확인되었다.

고혈압을 동반한 제2형 당뇨병 환자에서의 creatinine과 미세 단백뇨 증가 (Creatinine and microalbuminuria levels are increased in type 2 diabetic patients with hypertension)

  • The purpose of this study was to identify clinical characteristics of type 2 diabetic patients with hypertension. The subjects were 209 type 2 diabetic patients who visited at the endocrine center at Kangnam St. Mary's Hospital of Catholic University in Seoul from beginning of March through the end of April in 2001. The patient's clinical laboratory data were assessed at medical record review. The data were analyzed using for t-test, $x^2$ test. The results were as follows: 1) There were no significant differences in age, body mass index, sex, family history of diabetes and oral hypoglycemic agents between hypertensive group and normotensive group, However, percentage of patients receiving insulin treatment was higher significantly in the hypertensive group. 2) Creatinine and microalbuminuria levels were higher significantly in the hypertensive group. However, fasting blood glucose levels were lower significantly in the hypertensive group. There were no significant differences in $HbA_1c$, 2-hour postprandial blood glucose, total cholesterol, triglyceride, high density lipoprotein cholesterol, lipoprotein(a) and blood urea nitrogen between two groups. Our present study supports that Creatinine and microalbuminuria levels were higher significantly in the hypertensive group.

한우 도축시 혈청 호르몬과 혈액 성분의 상관 관계 분석 (Correlation Analysis of Serum Hormones and Components in Hanwoo during Slaughtering Process)

  • 한우에서 도축 전 혈청 호르몬 및 혈액 성분의 농도 변화가 거세우와 비거세우에서 공통적으로 나타난 현상은 도축 2개월 전에서 수송 직전 사이에 cortisol과 creatinine이 증가하였고 calcium은 감소하였다. 수송 직전에 비해 수송 직후에는 IGF-1 농도가 감소하였으나 수송 직전에 비해 도축 시에는 IP농도가 감소했다. 혈청 호르몬 및 대사 물질들에서 도축 2개월 전, 수송 직전, 수송 직후 및 도축시 혈청들 간의 상관 관계는 도축 2개월 전 농도와 수송 직전 농도간에 정의 상관 관계를 보인 혈청은 거세우에서는 IGF-1, TP, albumin, creatinine, HDLC 및 globulin이며 비거세우에서는 creatinine과 globulin이었고, 도축 2개월 전 혈청과 도축시 혈청 간에 정의 상관관계를 보인 혈청 성분은 거세우에서는 IGF-1, BUN, IP 및 HDLC이었고, 비거세우에서는 creatinine이었다. 그리고 수송 직전 혈청과 도축시 혈청 간에 정의 상관 관계가 있는 혈청 성분은 거세우에서는 testosterone, IGF-1, creatinine, triglyceride, HDLC 및 globulin이었고, 비거세우에서는 TP, creatinine, HDLC 및 globulin으로 나타났다.

Evaluation of calcium, magnesium, vitamin D and some biomarker parameters levels in children with favsim disease in the Basrah Governorate-Iraq

  • Essential minerals are important for human health because they support biochemical reactions in metabolism and may play a role in the development of glucose-6-phosphate dehydrogenase deficiency (G6PD). We investigated the relationship between calcium, magnesium, urea, creatinine, total protein, glucose and vitamin D levels in G6PD deficiency in this study. The control group consisted of 40 people (23 females and 17 males) and the patient group consisted of 50 people (20 females and 30 males), all of whom were between the ages of (1-12 years). The findings revealed that the calcium level in patients, depending on sex factor, has a highly significant increase (p <0.0001) when compared to the control group, especially in children who are females rather than males who are affected by G6PD deficiency. In addition, the level of magnesium was found to be significantly different (p <0.0001) in children male patients when compared to the control group. On the other side, the level of total protein was found to be significantly high in children patients (p <0.01) when comparing with control group, and the levels of urea, creatinine and glucose were found to be highly significant increase (p <0.001) in patients when comparing to healthy groups, vitamin D levels were significantly lower (p <0.0001) with G6PD deficiency comparing to control group. In conclusion, the low and high significant associations between vitamin D, calcium, magnesium, urea, creatinine, and glucose indicate that more research is needed to better understand their roles in G6PD development.
