효소처리한 함초(Salicornia herbacea) 열수추출물이 고콜레스테롤 식이 흰쥐의 지질대사에 미치는 영향 (Effects of Water Extract from Enzymic-Treated Hamcho (Salicornia herbacea) on Lipid Metabolism in Rats Fed High Cholesterol Diet)

  • 본 연구에서는 고콜레스테롤 식이 흰쥐에서 효소 처리하여 제조된 함초 열수추출물의 공급이 혈청 및 간조직의 지질대사에 미치는 영향을 관찰하였다. 각 실험군의 100g당 간 조직의 무게를 비교한 결과 정상식이 대조군과 정상식이에 함초 추출물을 공급한 군은 유의적인 차이가 없었으며, 고콜레스테롤군들에서 정상식이 대조군에 비해 유의적으로 증가하였다. 간조직 중성지질 함량은 고콜레스테롤군들에서 정상식이 대조군에 비해 유의적으로 증가하였으며, 고콜레스테롤식이에 함초 추출물 $2\%$$4\%$를 공급한 군들에서 고콜레스테롤식이 대조군보다 유의적으로 감소되었으며, 간조직 총지질 함량 또한 중성지질과 같은 경향을 나타내었다. 혈청 총콜레스테롤 함량은 고콜레스테롤 식이대조군에서 정상식이 대조군에 비해 유의적으로 증가하였으나, 고콜레스테롤식이에 함초 추출물을 공급함으로써 총콜레스테롤 함량이 다소 감소하였다. 간조직 총콜레스테롤의 함량은 혈청 총 콜레스테롤 함량과 유사한 경향을 나타내었으며, 고콜레스테롤식이에 함초 추출물 $2\%$$4\%$를 공급한 군들에서 고콜레스테롤식이 대조군에 비해 콜레스테롤의 함량이 유의적으로 감소되었다. 혈청 HDL-콜레스테롤 함량은 고콜레스테롤군들에서 정상식이 대조군에 비해 유의적으로 감소하였으며, 고콜레스테롤식이에 함초 추출물을 공급한 군들에서 다소 증가하였다. 혈청 LDL-콜레스테롤 함량은 고콜레스테롤식이 대조군이 정상식이 대조군에 비해 유의적으로 증가하였으나, 고콜레스테롤식이에 함초 추출물 $4\%$를 공급한 군에서 고콜레스테롤식이 대조군에 비해 유의적으로 감소되었다. 따라서, 고콜레스테롤 식이 흰쥐에서 효소 처리한 함초 열수추출물의 공급은 혈청 및 간조직의 총지질, 중성지질, 총콜레스테롤, LDL-콜레스테롤 및 HDL-콜레스테롤 등의 지질함량을 조절함으로써 지질대사 개선 효과가 있음을 알 수 있었다.

  • 남자 중학생에 대한 conjugated linoleic acid (CLA)의 체지방감소, 동맥경화 지표 개선 및 신체활력개선 효과를 연구하였다. 체지방율이 30% 이상 인 건강한 남자 중학생 희망자 24명을 CLA섭취군과 대조군(placebo)으로 무작위로 나누고 CLA (하루에 2회, 총 6 g)와 placebo를 이중맹검법으로 총 12주간 처리하였다. 실험전과 마지막에 인체구성, 혈중 지질조성 및 운동력을 조사하였다. CLA는 체지방과 body mass index (BMI)를 유의성 있게 감소시켰지만, placebo는 효과가 없었다. CLA는 low-density lipoprotein (LDL)-cholesterol, total cholesterol 및 tryglyceride를 유의성 있게 낮추었고, high-density lipoprotein (HDL)-cholesterol는 증가시켰다. 운동능력인 trunk flexion, closed-eyes foot balance, standing long jump, shuttle run 및 sit-up를 향상시켰다. 이 결과는 CLA가 체지방을 감소시키고, 동맥경화 및 인체활동능력을 개선할 수 있어 비만 청소년의 체력을 관리하는데 도움을 줄 수 있을 것이다.

흰쥐에있어서 메밀채소의 투여가 지질대사에 미치는 효과 (Effects of Dietary Buckwheat Vegetables on Lipid Metabolism in Rats)

  • The effects of dietary buckwheat vegetables on the in vitro HMG-CoA reductase activity and lipids profiles of serum and liver in rats were evaluated . Buckwheat vegetables were cultivated in the range of 1-15cm of the plant height and dried. The content of rutin in the dried vegetables did not varied largely with the differences in the height of the vegetables. The water extract from buckwheat vegetables activited in vitro HMG-CoA reductase, activity up to 150% of control. Male rats were fed on purified diets. supplemented with0.12% cholesterol, containing dried buckwheat vegetables(BWV, 5% of diet) or rutin 90.25% of diet) . Dietary BWV and rutin, compared with basal diet tended to decrease the concentration of serum cholesterol. The ratio of HDL-cholesterol to total cholesterol were higher slightly in the rutin -fed group than in the other groups. The concentration of serum triacylglycerol was lower markedly in the rutin -fed groups than in the control groups, and BWV group being intermediate . The concentration of liver cholesterol was lower significantly in the BWV group than in the other groups. The results show an effective cholesterol-lowering action of buckwheat vegetables in serum and liver of rats fed on cholesterolemic diets. and that the hypocholesterolemic effects of buchwheat vegetables re not likely to be due to the modulation of the cholesterol synthesis rate.

인유, 조제 분유 및 시유의 총지방질 조성, 총지방산 조성 및 비타민E 함량의 비교 (Total Lipid and Total Fatty Acid Composition and Vitamin E Content of Human Mature Milk, Infant Formulas and Market Milk)

  • 총지방질의 함량은 인유(성숙유), 조제 분유 및 시유 다같이 비슷한 수준치를 보였다. 조제 분유는 인유에 비하여 인 지방질, 유리 지방산, 콜레스테롤 에스터 등이 유의하게 높은 반면 트리글리세리드는 유의하게 낮은 수준이었다. 시유와 인유는 트리글리세리드 함량에서는 비슷하였지만 기타 지방질 성분에서는 차이가 있었다. 조제 분유의 인 지방질/트리글리세리드의 비, 콜레스테롤/트리글리세리드의 비, 총토코페롤 그리고 총토코페롤 / 총지방질의 비 모두 인유는 물론 시유의 그것들에 비하여 유의하게 높은 수준이었다. 총토코페롤 / 18 : 2 ${\omega}6$의 비는 조제 분유, 시유 다같이 인유에 비하여 유의하게 높았다. 인유, 조제 분유 및 사유의 비타민 E 함량은 미국 유아 식이의 기준치를 상회하였다. 조제 분유의 포화 지방산 중에서 탄소수 8개 이하의 직쇄의 우수 지방산들은 인유의 그것들에 비하여 유의하게 높았으며, 10개 이상의 탄소수를 갖고 있는 직쇄의 우수 지방산들은 인유의 그것들과 대체로 비슷한 수준들이었다. 시유에서도 역시 탄소수 10개 이하의 것들과 18 : 0 등의 직쇄의 우수 지방산들 그리고 직쇄 및 측쇄의 기수 지방산들이 높은 경향이었고 12 : 0 은 낮았다. 불포화 지방산의 경우 인유의 18 : $2{\omega}6$은 조제 분유와는 거의 비슷한 수준인 반면 시유의 그것에 비하여 4.5 배 높은 수준이었고 탄소수 20개 이상의 장쇄 고도 불포화 지방산들은 조제 분유, 시유 다같이 낮은 수준치를 갖고 있었다.

Role of Gel to Fluid Transition Temperatures of Polydiacetylene Vesicles with 10,12-Pentacosadiynoic Acid and Cholesterol in Their Thermochromisms

  • This study demonstrates gel-to-fluid transition temperatures of polydiacetylene bilayer vesicles could play important roles in their colorimetric transition temperatures. We prepared five types of polydiaceylene vesicles with 10,12-pentacosadiynoic acid (PCDA) and cholesterol (0-40 mol % of total content). From temperature-dependent observations of the optical signals (colors and UV-vis spectra), the blue-to-red colorimetric transition temperatures of polydiacetylene vesicles were decreased with the cholesterol contents. A further study with microcalorimetry and dynamic light scattering revealed that the polydiacetylene vesicles first underwent gel-to-fluid transitions, which were followed by event(s) responsible for the colorimetric transitions. Energies required for each event were quantified from analysis of the peaks in the microcalorimetry thermograms. The inclusion of cholesterol in the vesicles decreased both the gel-to-fluid and the colorimetric transition temperatures, suggesting that the colorimetric transition of the polydiacetylene vesicles was mediated by the former event although the event was not the direct reason for the color change.

감나 폴리페놀이 흰쥐의 생체내 지질과산화에 미치는 영향 (Effect of Potato Polyphenolics on Lipid Peroxidation in Rats)

  • The total contents of polyphenolics in potatoes measured by Folin Denis method were 42~76mg/100g in fresh weight. A major phenolic component contained in potato polyphenolics was identified as chlorogenic acid(3.6~15mg/100g in fresh weight). The antioxidative effects of potato polyphenolics and chlorogenic acid on the lipid peroxidation of liver microsome were studied in vivo and in vitro systems by measuring the formation of thiobarbituric acid reactive substances(TBARS) and the content of urine 8 hydroxy deoxyguanosine(OHdG). The TBARS contents of liver showed an increase in the cholesterol diet compared to those in the normal diet. This trend, however, was minimized when potato polyphenolics and chlorogenic acid were supplemented in the cholesterol diet. On the other hands, urinary 8 OHdG contents showed a marked increase with the supplementation of potato polyphenolics in the cholesterol diet. However, there was a trend of marked decrease by the supplementation of chlorogenic acid. In vitro study, potato poly phenolics and chlorogenic acid effectively inhibited the formation of TBARS in liver microsomal system in a dose dependent manners. These results suggest that potato polyphenolics exerts an antioxidative activity in cholesterol fed rat liver.

Characteristics and Health Benefit of Highly Marbled Wagyu and Hanwoo Beef

  • This review addresses the characteristics and health benefit of highly marbled Wagyu and Hanwoo beef. Marbling of Wagyu and Hanwoo beef has been increased in Japan and Korea to meet domestic consumer preferences. Wagyu and Hanwoo cattle have high potential of accumulating intramuscular fat (IMF) and producing highly marbled beef. The IMF content varies depending on the feeding of time, finishing diet, and breed type. IMF increases when feeding time is increased. The rate of IMF increase in grain-fed cattle is faster than that in pasture-fed cattle. Fatty acid composition are also different depending on breeds. Highly marbled Wagyu and Hanwoo beef have higher proportions of monounsaturated fatty acid (MUFA) due to higher concentrations of oleic acid. MUFAs have little effect on total cholesterol. They are heart-healthy dietary fat because they can lower low-density lipoprotein (LDL)-cholesterol while increasing high-density lipoprotein (HDL)-cholesterol. Clinical trials have indicated that highly marbled beef does not increase LDL-cholesterol. This review also emphasizes that high oleic acid beef such as Wagyu and Hanwoo beef might be able to reduce risk factors for cardiovascular disease.

달래(Allium monanthum)가 콜레스테롤을 투여한 흰쥐의 혈청 성분에 미치는 영향 (Effects of Wild Garlic on Serum Component of Cholesterol Fed Rats)

  • To study effects of wild garlic on components of lipid and protein, blood glucose level, and cholinesterase activity in rat's serum, Sprague-Dawley strain of 40 male rats are divided into 5 groups which are Normal, Control, A, B, and C group. Normal group is fed only Basal diet, and Control group is fed Basal diet and 0.5ml/day of 2.5% cholesterol solution, In addition to a diet of control group, A group is fed 25% wild garlic flour, B group 0.5ml/2day of concentratded wild garlic juice, C group 0.5ml/2day of concentrated ethanol extract of wild garlic, After 8 weesk the rats were fasted for 12 hours, and then decapitated to collect blood. The results of analysis of the rat's serum were summarized as follows, 1. Wild garlic diet, specially ethanol extract has an influence on decreasing the level of total cholesterol and blood glucose in rat's serum, 2. HDL-cholesterol and phospholipid content of rat's serum are increased by wild garlic diet. Therefore I think that wild garlic is good food for preventing development of atherosclerosis and diabetes.

마늘(Allium sativum L.)이 콜레스테롤을 투여한 흰쥐의 혈청 성분에 미치는 영향 (The Effect of Garlic on Serum Component of Cholesterol-fed Rats)

  • The study was accomplished to know the effects of garlic on body weight, and serum lipid, protein and glucose in male rats. The rats applied in this study were Sprague-Dawley strain of 42. In addition to basal diet, they were fed together raw garlic juice or ethanol garlic extract with 2.5% cholesterol solution solved by corn oil for 8 weeks respectively. These results were as follows. 1. The growth rate and efficiency ratio appeared to be more increased in ethanol garlic extract groups than in raw garlic juice groups. 2. The content of serum total cholesterol appeared to be the most decreased in 0.4ml ethanol garlic extract group. 3. The level of serum HDL-cholesterol had a tendency to be increased in all garlic groups. 4. Albumin/Globulin ratio appeared to be more decreased in raw garlic juice groups than in ethanol gar lie extract groups. 5. The level of serum glucose appeared to be more decreased in ethanol garlic extract groups than in raw garlic juice groups. Therefore we think that garlic is able to have an effect on atherosclerosis and diabetes.

한국당귀(Angelicae gigantis Radix) 엑스가 흰쥐의 실험적 고지혈증에 미치는 영향 (Effect of Angelicae gigantis Radix Extract on Experimentally Induced Hyperlipemia in Rats)

  • This study was attempted to investigate the effects of "Angelicae gigantis Radix extract" (AG.EX.) on the activities of GOT and GPT, the contents of total lipid, triglyceride, total cholesterol, phospholipid and ${\beta}-lipoprotein$ in serum, and the weight change ratio of body, liver and spleen in the experimentally induced hyperlipemic rats by administering the extract of 300 and 500 mg/kg p.o.. Significant test was performed by comparision with the biochemical values between control group and experimentally hyperlipemic rats. In the activities of s-GOT and s-GPT inhibition effects were significantly appeared in all dose of AG.EX. (especially more excellent in ethanol extract) and Angelicae acutilobae Radix extract (AA.EX.) as compared with the control group. The content of total lipid was remarkably decreased in all sample group when compared with the control group, and AA.EX. showed more excellent decreasing effect than AG.EX. The contents of triglyceride and total cholesterol were significantly lowered in all sample group, and more significantly decreased in water extract of AG.EX. and ethanol extract of AA.EX. The content of phospholipid was significantly decreased in all sample group and AG.EX. was more significantly decreased than AA.EX. The increasing rate of body weight in all sample groups except AA.EX. 500 mg/kg was increased more than control group and more significantly remarkable in dose of 300 mg/kg than 500 mg/kg. The increasing rate of liver weight in all sample groups was increased more than control group, and AG.EX. was more increased than AA.EX.
