The silk amino acid supplementation is unknown to affect the release of several hormones related to energy production and metabolism during prolonged exercise. This study examined the effects of silk amino acid supplementation on the level of blood amino acid, energy substrates and hormones level during prolonged treadmill exercise in college taekwondo player. A prolonged treadmill test was carried out 60 min at 65% of maximal heart rate on 8 athletics. Blood samples were obtained form antecubital vein of subjects at rest bed 30 minute before test, after exercise and rest 1 hour. The subjects were supplemented silk amino acid (6,390 mg/day) fur 4 week. The silk amino acid supplementation did not produce significant changes on the levels of blood lactate, ammonia, amino acid, glucose, triglyceride, total cholesterol, HDL, LDL, seratonin and leptin at rest bed 30 minute before test, after exercise and rest 30 minute. The silk amino acid 4 week supplementation did not affect the levels of blood amino acid, energy substrates and hormones during prolonged treadmill exercise.
The contents of amino acid in alcoholic beverage-Cheongju, Beer, Makguli, grapewine were analyzed. Cheongju and Makguli were filtered with membrane filter paper. Beer and grapewine were also filtered after treatment with 5-Sulfosalicylic acid. Sample were analyzed by Amino Acid Analyzer (Hitach KLA-5). The results were as follow: 1. The kinds of Amino Acid in Cheongju were 18, those of Beer were 17, Makguli 15, and grape wine 10. 2. The total amino acid in Cheongju was 54.0295 mg, Beer was 16.7172mg, Makguli was 12.3833 mg and grape wine was 4.1480 mg in 100 ml volume.
The contents of amino acids were examined in the 3, 4, 5, and 6 year-old roots of fresh ginseng and the 1979, 1980, 1981, and 1982 years' products of white and red ginsengs. Samples extracted with 75% ethanol for free amino acids and hydrolyzed with 6N-HCL for total amino acids were analyzed by Amino Acid Analyzer (Hitachi model KLA-5). The results were summarized as follows: 1. Amino acids from extracted samples were 18 kinds of Tryptophan, Lysine, Histidine, Arginine, Aspartic acid, Threonine, Serine, Glutamic acid, Proline, Glycine, Alanine, Cystine, Valine, Methionine, Isoleucine, Leucine, Tyrosine, and Phenylalanine. 2. Amino acids detected in hydrolyzed samples were 17 kinds execpt Tryptophan of extracted ones. 3. Arginine was the highest quantity of amino acids in ginseng. 4. The content of Tryptophan was 0.5690 mg/g in the 6 year-old fresh ginseng and trace quantities in other samples. 5. The contents of amino acids were increased in fresh ginseng according to cultivation year. 6. The contents of amino acids in white ginseng were slightly decreased but those in red ginseng were not changed during the storage time. 7. The content ratio of free amino acids to total amino acids were 1:3.

Urinary excretion of total amino acids was measrued in normal and diabetic rats, streptozotocin-induced diabetic rats excreted increased amount of urinary total amino acids and nitrogen. This suggested increased degradation of body protein. Although excretion of total amino acids increased in the diabetic rats, the amino acid pattern of amino acids for both groups were very similar. The efficiency of dietary protein utilization was significantly lower in diabetic rats then that of normal rats. Streptozotocin injeciton affected the urinary excretion of 3-methylhistidine whereas diet did not. These findings suggest that the rate of urinary excretion of total amino acids can be empolyed as an index of protein metabolism, particulary as a simple index in the assesing the status of protein nutrition.
Chemical composition, free amino acid and fatty acid composition of wild and cultured cockle clam were studied. 1. The content of crude protein was higher in Anadara suberenata thanthat ini Anadara granosa. The contents of crude protein and ash increased after boiling. 2 Free amino acid composition of Anadara granosa was similar to that of Anadara suberenata. Both glutamic acid and aspartic acid among free amino acid were the most abundant in cockle clam. Next, leucine, arginine and lysine were abundant in order. They all composed of approximately 50%^ of total amino acid content. Whereas the contents of cystine and methionine were poor. 3. In cockle clam the major fatty acids consisted of C16 :0, C18: 0, C18 ;1 and C18:3 in order. The level of C16 :0 was the highest in lipids. The levels of C18 : 0 and C14 :0 were higher in Anadara granosa than those in Anadara suberenata, while the levels of C16 :0, C18 :3 and C16 : 1 were higher in Amadara suberenata than those in Anadara granosa.
The effect of germination on hydration and germination properties, and on the changes of fatty acids and amino acids profiles of a brown rice 'Keunnun' (KN) with a large embryo was compared to 'Ilpumbyeo' (IP) with a normal embryo. A rapid germination up to 24 hr was observed in both brown rice cultivars, afterward decreased with germination time. At 60 hr, the KN ($86.0{\pm}4.24%$) showed slightly lower germination capability than the IP ($97.0{\pm}1.41%$). Lower water uptake during germination was also found in the KN ($1.22{\pm}0.02\;g$) compared to the IP ($1.59{\pm}0.05\;g$). Major fatty acids were palmitic acid, oleic acid, and linoleic acid accounting for more than 95% of total fatty acids. The most abundant amino acid in both types was oleic acid, which was decreased during germination, whereas palmitic and linoleic acids were increased. Eight amino acids were detected, and a remarkable increase in ${\gamma}-amino$ butyric acid (GABA) during germination was observed. The KN was characterized with higher tasty amino acids of aspartic acid, glutamic acid, glycine, and alanine.
Amino acid (AA) substituted diets had no influence on rumen levels of total volatile fatty acids (VFA), ammonia and ${\alpha}$-amino-N, but tended to increase molar proportions of isovalerate and counts of total viable AA utilizing and celluloytic bacteria in the rumen as compared with the control urea diet. The AA diets did not affect daily flow to the duodenum of dry matter (DM), organic mater (OM) and acid detergent fibre (ADF), and rumen digestibility of these nutrients. However, the AA diets, in particular the 10 essential AA (EAA) diet improved total digestibility of DM, OM and ADF by decreasing faecal output of these fractions. Although N flow to the duodenum and N retention were not affected with the dietary treatments, duodenal bacterial flow appeared to increase by the AA diets when it was estimated by means of 2,6-diaminopimelic acid (DAP) and nucleic acid-purine bases (PB) as markers. The results suggest that AA supplements to a urea diet could improve feed utilization by stimulating microbial activity and proliferation in the rumen but and increased microbial activity per se is not necessarily associated with improvement of feed conversion.
The proximate compositions of Opuntia ficus indica fruits from Shinan were moisture 71.18%, crude protein 1.69%, crude ash 0.93%, crude fat 0.55%, crude fiber 1.54% and 24.11% nitrogen free extracts. And the proxmate compositions of Opuntia ficus indica stem were moisture 74.85%, crude protein 3.48%, crude ash 0.54%, crude fat 0.48%, crude fiber 2.58% and 18.07% nitrogen free extracts. The crude protein and crude fiber content of Opuntia ficus indica stem from Shinan were higher than those of fruit. The contents of fructose, sucrose and glucose were higher than maltose. As the result of organic acid, the content of citric acid was higher than malic acid and tartaric acid. As a result of mineral analysis, the contents of potassium was the highest among the minerals in Opuntia ficus indica from Shinan. Analysis of total amino acids in Opuntia ficus indica from Shinan. The contents of total amino acid of fruit and stem were 1,604.64 mg% and 3,245.98 mg% and the free amino acid contents of fruit and stem were 556.02 mg% and 1,101.35 mg%, respectively. The major components of total amino acids were glutamic acid, proline and threonine. The levels of total amino acids and free amino acids in Opuntia ficus indica stem were higher than those in its fruit.
The objective of this study was to investigate the effects of amino acid supplementation of oocyte maturation medium on 1st polar body(PB) extrusion, embryo development and blastocsyt cell number. In experiment 1, Cumulus oocyte complexes(COCs) were matured in in vitro maturation(IVM) medium supplemented with 1, 2, or 4-fold of 10 $\mu$l/ml MEM non-essential amino acid(NEAA) and 20 Park, $\mu$ l/ml BME essential amino acid(EAA). The PB extrusion rate of oocytes matured in 1-fold amino acid group was significantly higher than that matured in medium without amino acid (p<0.05), but it was decreased by the increase of the dosage of amino acid. There were no difference in the percentage of embryos reaching 2-cell, 8-cell and blastocyst in all treatments. The number of trophectoderm(TE) cells and total cell number of blastocysts were highest in 2-fold amino acid group, and the number of inner cell mass(ICM) cells was increased by the increase of the dosage of amino acid. In experiment 2, COCs were matured in IVM medium with 1, 5, or 10 mg/ml lactalbumin hydrolysate(LAH). The PB extrusion rate of oocytes matured in medium with 5 mg LAH was significantly higher than that matured in medium with 1 mg LAH (p<0.05). The development rate to the blastocyst stage was significantly higher in non-supplement and 1 mg LAH group than in 5 mg and 10 mg LAH group (p<0.05). The number of TE cells and total cell number did not differ among treatment groups, but the number of ICM cells was increased by the increase of LAH supplement. These results suggested that the supplement of certain group of amino acid in IVM medium effective on the quality of blastocyst, and further studies will be accompany with the search of new sources of amino acid used for the use of in vitro embryo production.
Content of crude protein in both pileus and stalk increased progresively as growth period became longer and then decreased at old stage. Contents of ash and reducing sugars followed the same trend as that of the crude protein. However, content of crude lipid decreased as growth progressed more. Seventeen kinds of amino acid were detected in Lentinula. Content of total amino acid increased as mushroom grew more, but decreased after old stage. The amino acid such as Glu, His, Gly and Ala were contained with relatively large amount in Lentinula. Content of free amino acid showed the similar trends as that of total amino acid. Contents of most of the mineral increased as growth period progressed, but K content decreased as growth period became longer. Contents of K and P were much higher than contents of other mineral. The major fatty acid contained in Lentinula were linoleicacid, palmitic acid and oleic acid. The large amount of volatile component in Lentinula was 1-octen-3-ol, so that this material was speculated to be major source of perfume. Other perfumic materials such ethyl acetate, 3-octanone, ethanol, (E)-2-octenal, 4-octen-3-one, acetaldehyde, ethyl formate were also contained in Lentinula, especially in pilous.
