Identification of Potential Bacillus subtilis Probiotics from Korean Soybean Paste and Their Antimicrobial and Immune Activities

  • The potential probiotic of a total of 15 Bacillus species isolated from Korean soybean paste (doenjang) was evaluated. Among those tested, the CSY191 and CSY388 strains were selected as probiotic bacteria due to their acid and bile tolerance, respectively. These strains were classified as Bacillus subtilis based on morphological, physiological, and chemotaxonomic features as well as on phylogenetic analysis based on their 16S rDNA sequences. These strains CSY191 and CSY388 showed a significant survival with rate range of 30.0 to 58.3% and of 31.0% to 58.1%, respectively, under artificial gastric acidic conditions at pH 3.0. These CSY191 and CSY388 strains appeared to have high antimicrobial activity against Salmonella Typhimurium, Bacillus cereus and Listeria monocytogenes. Also, methanol extractions (surfactin-like compounds) of strain CSY191 and strain CSY388 activated RAW264.7 microphages and induced the production of nitric oxide (NO) in a concentration-dependent manner, respectively. Therefore, strain CSY191 and strain CSY388 can be used as potential probiotics.

탄소강 선재 압연공정의 DCI 롤 마멸 예측 기술의 개발 (Development of Technique Predicting of the Wear of DCI Roll Using Carbon Steel in Hot Rod Rolling Process)

  • The objective of this study is to predict the roll wear in hot rod rolling process. In this study hot rod rolling process for round and oval passes has been investigated. In order to predict the roll wear, the wear model is reformulated as an incremental form and then wear depth of roll is calculated at each deformation step on contact area using the results of finite element analysis, such as relative sliding velocity and normal pressure at contact area. Archard's wear model was applied to predict the roll wear. To know the thermal softening of DCI (Ductile Cast Iron) roll according to operating conditions, high temperature micro hardness test is executed and a new wear model has been proposed by considering the thermal softening of DCI roll expressed in terms of the main tempering parameter curve. 3D wear program developed in this study might be used for adjusting the gap of rolls to set up a suitable rolling schedule for keeping dimensional tolerance of the product.

  • Application of exogenous polyamines (PAs) reduced the paraquat (PQ)-induced cotyledon injuries in radish seedling plants with 1 mM spermidine (Spd) being the most effective protectant. PQ injury symptoms in the cotyledons, e.g., large accumulation of $H_2O_2$, and losses of fresh weight, chlorophyll, and proteins, were significantly alleviated. Likewise, analysis of $H_2O_2$-scavenging enzymes such as catalase (CAT) and guaiacol peroxidase (GPX) showed that pretreatment with Spd among PAs remarkably increased total CAT activity and strongly retarded PQ-induced rapid decline in total GPX activity. In a native gel assay, one CAT isozyme (CAT1) and two GPX isozymes (GPX1 and a newly synthesized GPX isozyme) proved to be more responsible for PQ tolerance, as manifested by the strong increases in their activities by Spd pretreatment. Based on these results, we can suggest that PAs (especially 1 mM Spd) may function as antioxidant protectors by invoking CAT and GPX enzymes which control the endogenous $H_2O_2$ level in radish cotyledons exposed to PQ.

  • The exit surface of a lens is designed using a three-dimensional free-form expression in order to easily modify a curved surface. This enables the design of numerical values and mathematical things using three-dimensional free-form expression, and enhances precision because it can be fine-tuned via numerical control. The standard of "Classification of Luminaire Light Distribution" for outdoor lighting fixtures by IESNA is adopted in order to examine the correlation between three-dimensional free-form surface expression and lighting performance. The variation of light distribution type and range is analyzed using the values of maximum light intensity and 50% light intensity. The actual tolerance occurs owing to parameters such as the thickness of the lens, the distance between LEDs, and the movement of the center of the incident surface; the effects of changes in these parameters on the performance are compared and analyzed.

Characteristics of Wasted Lubricant Degradation by Acinebobacter lwoffii 16C-1

  • 216 microorganisms which able to degrade wasted lubricant were isolated in the region of contaminated with wated lubricant such automobile repair shops, garages and gas stations in Taejon. Most activated strain among them is selected and used in this research. The microorganism in identified as Acinetobacter lwoffii 16C-1, which shows active growth and hydrocargon utilization withnormal alkane such as tetradecane, hexadecane and octadecane, and do not grow aromatic hydrocargons, cycloalkane, and branched alkane. In addition, A. lwoffii 16C-1 has resistance to heavy metals such as Ba, Li, Cr, and Mn more than 6.4mg/ml, and showed negligible tolerance against antibiotics. Effects of environmental conditions including concentration of wasted lubricnt, pH, NaCl concentration, nitrogen source and phosphate on microorganism growth and emulsification were studied. 2% of wasted lubricant, pH 7.0, 0-1% of NaCl, 0.2% of peptone, and 0.01% of K2HPO4 is turn out to be optimum condition. By the analysis of remaining oils, almost of hydrocarbons added to the media are removed by A. lwoffii 16C-1 at 30$^{\circ}C$ after 2 days of culture, which showed excellent oil degradation characteristics.

  • 전 국민의 인터넷 이용율 향상과 유비쿼터스 기술의 확산으로 인터넷 중독은 심각한 사회문제가 되고 있다. 하지만, 한국형 성인 인터넷 중독 자가진단 척도인 K-척도는 사용자의 특성을 구분하지 않는 일반적인 진단법이다. 본 연구에서는 사용자의 직무 연관 또는 직무와 무관하게 웹사이트에 접속하는 기본적인 인터넷 이용 패턴을 취득하는 설문조사를 통하여 사용자의 직무 무관한 인터넷 활동을 기반으로 인터넷 중독을 진단하는 새로운 방법을 제안하고자 한다. 솔직하게 인터넷 중독 문항에 표시하는 것을 꺼리는 인터넷 이용자에게 기본적인 인터넷 이용 패턴만 요구하여 K-척도에서 발견되지 않는 숨겨진 인터넷 중독자를 찾을 수 있음을 SPSS 통계 분석 도구로 제시한다.

  • 본 논문은 마이크로폰 음향 센서를 이용한 소총화기 탄착점 추정 알고리즘을 제안하였다. 제안된 알고리즘은 기존 신호 도착시간(Time of Arrival, ToA) 방식을 신호 도착 시간 차(Time Difference of Arrival, TDoA) 방식으로 확장 발전시켜 시간 동기화 문제를 해결하였고, 실제 사격 실험을 통해 알고리즘의 성능을 검증하였다. 실제 탄착점과 알고리즘으로 연산된 탄착점의 비교 분석을 통해 제안 시스템이 허용 오차 범위 내에서 정확히 탄착점을 추정하고 있어 우수한 성능을 보이고 있음을 확인하였다.

트림된 NURBS 곡면의 효율적인 삼각화 알고리즘 (An Efficient Triangulation Algorithm for Trimmed NURBS Surfaces)

  • We propose an algorithm for obtaining a triangular approximation of a trimmed NLRBS surface. Triangular approximation is used in the pre-processing step of many applications such as RP(Rapid Prototyping), NC(Numerical Control) and FEA(Finite Element Analysis), etc. The algorithm minimizes the number of triangular elements within tolerance and generates a valid triangular mesh for STL file and NC tool path generation. In the algorithm, a subdivision method is used. Since a patch is a basic element of triangular mesh creation, boundary curves of a patch are divided into line segments and the division of curves is applied for the interior of the surface. That is, boundary curves are subdivided into line segments and two end points of each line segment are propagated to the interior of the surface. For the case of a trimmed surface, triangulation is carried out using a model space information. The algorithm is superior because the number of elements can be controlled as the curvature of the surface varies and it generates the triangular mesh in a trimmed region efficiently. To verify the efficiency, the algorithm was implemented and tested for several 3D objects bounded by NURBS surfaces.

  • 효율 및 제어성이 우수한 영구자석 전동기는 최근 자동차 조향장치 시스템용으로 많이 응용되고 있으며, 인버터 고장 발생 시에도 일정시간 운전이 가능하여 안전성과 신뢰성을 확보할 수 있도록 다양한 형태의 이중 3상 구조의 고정자 권선방법을 적용하고 있다. 본 논문에서는 진상 및 지상의 전류위상 변화 시 각각의 권선방법이 전동기 특성에 미치는 영향을 유한요소해석을 통해 분석하고, 그 결과 이중 3상 고정자 권선을 갖는 동기전동기 설계 시 특성 측면에서 가장 적절한 권선방법을 선정할 수 있도록 설계전략을 제시한다. 구체적으로 토크 및 효율 측면과 약계자 제어를 통한 정출력 영역 확대 측면, 그리고 저진동 및 저소음을 위한 토크 리플 저감 측면에서 각각 유리한 권선방법을 제시한다.

  • 단일모드 광섬유와 박막도파로 소자들 사이의 효율적인 광전송은 집적광학 시스템의 실현을 위해서 가장 기본적으로 풀어야 하는 필수적인 과제중의 하나인데, 이 때 광섬유와 도파로를 직접 접속시키는 방법은 접속면에서의 필드분포의 불일치로 인해 많은 양의 광전력이 반사되고 발산이 예상된다. 따라서 본 연구에서는 박막도파로와 광섬유의 접속시 경계면에서의 필드분포의 불일치를 피하기위해 uniform 형과 taper 형의 결합 구조를 박막도파로위에 성장시켜 접속시키는 구조를 제안하고 해석하였다. 시뮬레이션 결과 이들 구조가 광섬유로부터 결합도파로 안으로 광파가 전송되면 이후에 박막도파로로 효율적으로 광결합이 일어남을 보였고, 특히 taper 형태의 결합구조가 uniform 형태의 결합구조보다 결합효율 및 소자 제조측면에서 휠씬 더 바람직한 구조임이 증명되었다.
