Purpose : This study aimed to present the incidence of pressure ulcers and identify different associated factors according to the time of occurrence of pressure ulcers in intensive care unit (ICU) patients. Methods : The participants were 313 patients who reported pressure ulcers among 2,908 patients in ICUs at a large tertiary hospital in Gyeonggi-do. Among them, 220 patients (70.3%) had a pressure ulcer before admission, and 93 patients (29.7%) reported newly developed pressure ulcers after admission to the ICU. Data were collected between August 2018 and April 2019. Along with the time of occurrence and characteristics of pressure ulcers, diverse associated factors were gathered through electronic medical records. Data were analyzed using descriptive statistics, independent t-tests, and 𝑥2-tests. Results : Different risk factors associated with pressure ulcers in ICU patients according to the time of occurrence were main diagnosis, score of acute physiology and chronic health evaluation, score of Richmond agitation sedation scale, level of consciousness, administered sedatives, use of a ventilator, insertion of a feeding tube, and the duration of fasting period. Conclusion : Based on the results of this study, healthcare providers, especially ICU nurses, should try to detect early signs and symptoms of pressure ulcers, taking into account the derived factors associated with pressure ulcers in ICU patients. Practical intervention programs and strategies considering the factors associated with pressure ulcers must be developed to prevent and alleviate such ulcers in ICU patients in the future.
This paper examines the delayed situations for gender equality in South Korean, Japanese, and Taiwanese families despite the challenge to the gender division of labor in modern society, and to analyze the contradiction between the notions of gender equality and the experiences women face in East Asia countries. Using EASS data, we analyze the effective difference over the division of household labor according to women's age and length of school time, attitude for gender division of labor, couple's labor time, and family network. In South Korea and Taiwan, men's actual ratio of household division is higher than Japanese men's. On the other hand, Japanese women's ratio of household division is the highest in spite of their progressive attitude for gender equality. It is due to the difference of women's working time among the countries. In South Korea and Taiwan, women tend to work in full time job, so that they seem to inevitably reduce the time for household labor. The family characteristics have an effect on the women's ratio of household division in Taiwan, and the feature of women's employment does in South Korea. The high percentage of three-generation household contributes to the reduction of housework burden in Taiwan. In South Korea, the higher women's education levels, the higher the women's ratio of household division. Women's weakened bargaining power for household labor is due to the relatively low level of high-educated women's economic participation in South Korea. This paper reveals the effective factors on the gender division of household labor. We propose the necessity of the macro-level analysis as well as the analysis of the personal and conjugal feature.
This paper presents an efficient carrier recovery algorithm combined with a turbo-coding technique in a mobile communication system. By using a block turbo code made up of independently decodable block codes, we can efficiently recover the fast time-varying carrier phase as well as correct channel errors. Our simulation results reveal that the proposed scheme can accommodate mobiles with high speed, and at the same time can reduce the number of iterations to lock the phase.
In this study, two duplex real-time PCR approach with melting curve analysis is presented for the detection of Escherichia coli O157:H7, Listeria monocytogenes, Salmonella spp. and Staphylococcus aureus, which are important food-borne bacterial pathogens usually present in fresh and/or minimally processed vegetables. Reaction conditions were adjusted for the simultaneous amplification and detection of specific fragments in the ${\beta}$-glucuronidase (uidA, E. coli), thermonuclease (nuc, S. aureus), hemolycin (hly, L. monocytogenes) and tetrathionate reductase (ttr, Salmonella spp.) genes. Melting curve analysis using a SYBR Green I real-time PCR approach showed characteristic $T_m$ values demonstrating the specific and efficient amplification of the four pathogens; $80.6{\pm}0.9^{\circ}C$, $86.9{\pm}0.5^{\circ}C$, $80.4{\pm}0.6^{\circ}C$ and $88.1{\pm}0.11^{\circ}C$ for S. aureus, E. coli O157:H7, L. monocytogenes and Salmonella spp., respectively. For all the pathogens, the two duplex, real-time PCR was equally sensitive to uniplex real-time PCR, using same amounts of purified DNA, and allowed detection of 10 genome equivalents. When our established duplex real-time PCR assay was applied to artificially inoculated fresh lettuce, the detection limit was $10^3$ CFU/g for each of these pathogens without enrichment. The results from this study showed that the developed duplex real-time PCR with melting curve analysis is promising as a rapid and cost-effective test method for improving food safety.

Missiles suffer from flight instability problems at high angles of attack, since vortex flow over a fuselage cause lateral force to the body. To overcome this problem at a high angle of attack, the development of a real time vortex controller is needed. In this paper, Proper Orthogonal Decomposition (POD) and feedback controllers are developed for real time vortex control. The POD method is one of the most well known techniques for modeling low order models that represent the original full-order model. An adaptive control algorithm is used for real time control.
This paper deals with planning of order-picking warehouse considering the batch order picking for transportation equipments to pick consumers' orders at a time among order-picking methods and a systematic approach method in order to analyze the order-picking warehouse which can perform optimal operation. To estimate an operating time of transportation equipments to carry out order-picking, this paper suggests three operations : first, to design the refrigerated warehouse using warehouse design parameters, second, to calculate the travel time of transporters considering four types of times with the probabilistic picking frequency, and third, to analyze an order-picking warehouse to construct a simulation model with the AutoMod as a simulation tool. We apply this model to a refrigerated warehouse company in Busan.
This paper presents a time-varying sinusoidal disturbance compensation method (based on an adaptive estimation scheme) for induction motor drives fed by a matrix converter. In previous disturbance accommodation methods, sinusoidal disturbances with unknown time-invariant frequencies have been considered. However, in the new method proposed here, disturbances with unknown time-varying frequencies are considered. The disturbances can be estimated by using a disturbance accommodating observer, and an additional control input is added to the induction machine drive. The stability analysis is carried out considering the disturbance estimation error and simulation results are shown to illustrate the performance of the proposed solution.

A novel imaging method in which time-division spinning reticle samples different pixel location of input image in different time is presented. The lens collects the beam passing throughthe reticle to a photodetector. Image reconstruction is accomplished by sampling the detector output corresponding to the spinning speed of reticle. Since the time-division reticle system removed the necessity of bandpass filter bank which has sharp cut-off characteristic, high resolution image is obtained without increasing the number of filter. To confirm the validity of this method, a computer simulation and an optical experiment using visual light are presented.

Orthogonal frequency division multiplexing (OFDM) systems with multiple transmit antennas can exploit space-time block coding on each subchannel for reliable data transmission. Spacetime coded OFDM systems, however, are very sensitive to time variant channels because the channels need to be static over multiple OFDM symbol periods. In this paper, we propose to mitigate the channel variations in the frequency domain using a linear filter in the frequency domain that exploits the sparse structure of the system matrix in the frequency domain. Our approach has reduced complexity compared with alternative approaches based on time domain block-linear filters. Simulation results demonstrate that our proposed frequency domain block-linear filter reduces computational complexity by more than a factor of ten at the cost of small performance degradation, compared with a time domain block-linear filter.
In this paper, we propose a packet scheduling discipline called packet loss fair scheduling, in which the packet loss of each user from different real-time traffic is fairly distributed according to the quality of service requirements. We consider an orthogonal frequency division multiple access (OFDMA) system. The basic frame structure of the system is for the downlink in a cellular packet network, where the time axis is divided into a finite number of slots within a frame, and the frequency axis is segmented into subchannels that consist of multiple subcarriers. In addition, to compensate for fast and slow channel variation, we employ a link adaptation technique such as adaptive modulation and coding. From the simulation results, our proposed packet scheduling scheme can support QoS differentiations while guaranteeing short-term fairness as well as long-term fairness for various real-time traffic.
