This experiment was carried out to investigate the prevention of bacterial shot hole by Bordeaux mixture when it was sprayed on peach trees after harvest. bordeaux mixture was sprayed on \`Mibaeko\` peach trees 1 to 3 times after mid September, and the occurrence of bacterial shot hole was examined in the next year. Bacterial shot hole in leaves appeared from mid May and thereafter increased gradually. The more times was sprayed Bordeaux mixture, the less peaches were diseased with bacterial shot hole. At the beginning of August, the peach harvest time, the disease incidence of the untreated control plot was 27.4 to 38.1%, while the disease incidence was 9.7 to 31.8% when Bordeaux mixture was sprayed. The control value ranged from 16.5 to 64.6%. Occurrence of the fruit disease was similar to that of the leaf disease. Incidence of the fruit disease in the untreated control was 17.2 to 21.6%, but incase of the chemical treatment, it was 5.0 to 12.2 %, showing 41.9 to 70.9% of the control value. Chemical injury on peach leaves were not found in the 4-12 and 408 types, but occurred in some degrees in the 6-6 type of Bordeaux mixture.

Source : We can use a Lycium chinense Miller and a Lycium barbarum L. at the same time. but they only autorize Lycium barbarum L. as a source of Gouqizi. Culture : We have to culture at the central district and southward has a long term of blooming, bearing fruits and maturing in fertile soil, well drainage sandy soil. A cuttage has a advantage at producing number. and prowing and weeding has to be executed 2-3 times in a year. We fertillze 3 times a year, give a water not to be dry and have to be good at managementing drainage. Harvest : Generally it is best to be a harvested Gouqizi at summer. Process : Points of process is to protect a laceration which is made by a high heat, change color to black, well done dry the rind offruits has no a stiffness and the flesh of fruits has to be soft and freshred color. Quility : It is good that big and red fruits, thick fleshes of fruits, few seeds, soft and moist, sweet not bitter taste. A content of betain is more than 0.5%. And it must be content of ash is less than 6.0%. Contents of heavy metals has to detect less than 30 ppm and there are no reminding agriculural medinces.
A solution containing $^{85}Sr$, $^{103}Ru$ and $^{134}Cs$ was applied to Chinese cabbage in a greenhouse via foliar spraying at 5 different times during its growth. Interception of the applied activity by plant showed no difference among radionuclides and increased with decreasing time interval between application and harvest. The maximum interception factor observed was 0.87. Percentages of the intercepted activity remaining in the whole leaves at harvest varied $16{\sim}58%$ for $^{85}Sr$, $15{\sim}73%$ for $^{103}Ru$ and $33{\sim}64%$ for $^{134}Cs$, with application time and those for the inner leaves (without 6 outmost leaves) varied $2{\sim}35%$, $0.4{\sim}46%$ and $14{\sim}40%$, respectively. It was demonstrated that rain plays an important role in weathering loss of the activity. Tying the upper end of the plant prior to the last application lowered interception and remaining activity in the inner leaves by factors of $3{\sim}4$. Present results can be referred to in predicting the radionuclide concentration in Chinese cabbage and deciding counter-measures at the time of an accidental release from the nuclear installation.

Harvest time is one of the most important determining factors of seed quality, especially for species that produce seeds over irregular and long-term periods, such as Larix kaempferi. A cone collection plan must be established to increase seed production efficiency and stable mass production. We investigated seed qualities such as seed efficiency, germination rate, and T50 (germination speed), with 7 or 8 cone collection times at a clonal seed orchard of L. kaempferi in Chungju between 2021 and 2022. A multivariate analysis was then performed for the collected data. In early August, decreases in the moisture contents and browning of cones were observed. These were followed by a decrease in germination rate, with a peak at the end of September, but no clear trend was observed. The later the cones were harvested, the better the seed vigor (T50). However, the seed yield and efficiency decreased owing to increases in seed scattering and the number of insect-damaged seeds. As a result, the optimal time of seed harvest for the seed orchard was in early August. To produce uniform seedlings, insect damage must be reduced through timely control and harvest cones in early September. This shows that the degree of browning and moisture content of cones can be used as indicators of the timing of cone collection in L. kaempferi seed orchards.
Background We suggested an easy and effective harvesting technique to avoid injury to tissues adjacent to the latissimus dorsi (LD). Methods Between 2007 and 2017, breast reconstruction was performed with an LD flap using the "bottom-up" technique. Medical records were retrospectively reviewed. Data on postoperative complications, results, and follow-up were obtained. Nine cadaveric dissections were performed to assess positional relationships between LD and adjacent muscles based on the ribs where relevant muscles and LD attach. Overall, 78 LD flaps were harvested without complications. Results Average age was 45.4 years. The mean operation time was 260minutes. There were no abnormalities or injuries in the adjacent fascia and muscles during the flap harvest. Drains were removed at an average of 21.9 days postoperatively. In all cadavers, there was conjoined fascia between the thoracolumbar and LD fasciae. The average level of the merging point between the LD and external oblique muscle (EOM) was 8.9 to 11.1 ribs. The average level of the overlapping point between the LD and serratus posterior inferior (SPI) was 9.5 to 11.1 ribs. Conclusions There are three dangerous zones during LD flap harvesting. The first zone is where the conjoined fascia encompasses the LD and thoracolumbar fasciae. The second zone is where the LD merges with the EOM and the serratus anterior. The third zone is the lower part where the LD merges with the SPI and EOM. The "bottom-up" technique enables a more meticulous and atraumatic operation by beginner flap surgeons.
Biological efficiency (BE), the ratio of fresh mushrooms harvested per dry substrate weight, expressed as the percentage of Lentinula edodes, also known as shiitake, was determined using the 'Sanjo 701' strain stored in the Department of Mushroom at the Korea National College of Agriculture and Fisheries. The mycelia were grown in glass columns with varying levels of moisture content and varying mixing periods of 0.5, 1, 2, and 3 hours. The substrate was sterilized using a steam pressure autoclave sterilizer at normal and high pressure to avoid contamination. The results showed that mycelial growth (126 mm/15 days) was optimized at 55% moisture content. The best mycelial growth of 117 mm/15 days was obtained with 2 hours of mixing time. Normal pressure sterilization yielded better results with mycelial growth of 96 mm/15 days at $100^{\circ}C$ compared to 88 mm /15 days with sterilization at $121^{\circ}C$. Mycelial density was higher, i.e. 3(+++), with normal pressure sterilization compared to 2(++) with high pressure sterilization. Furthermore, sawdust mixed with 5% woodchips increased the substrate porosity and yielded higher mycelial growth. Thus, we demonstrated that the optimum harvest or potential increased yield of shiitake can be obtained by modulating moisture content, mixing time, and substrate porosity.

Oriental melon ($Cucumis$$melo$ var. $makuwa$) is a popular and high-value market fruit cultivated in Korea. Consumers are becoming increasingly interested in oriental melon as a healthy diet over the past few years. However, the melons have relatively high quality loss because the fruit are mainly produced for a limited period of time in the summer season. Lack of the proper postharvest treatments and high temperature exposure at harvest or during distribution are the most critical environmental factors limiting postharvest life of fruit. This review focuses on the overview of current research studies for postharvest treatment and functional packaging technology of oriental melon in Korea. Major physiological problems of the harvest fruit include the ripening process in quality changes of the produce such as loss of weight, firmness, flavor, and decay during the storage periods. Low temperature at 7 to $10^{\circ}C$ with high relative humidity of 90 to 95% is the suitable environmental condition used to maintain the quality of fresh oriental melon. Controlled atmosphere (CA) storage or modified atmosphere (MA) packaging can be used as supplemental treatments to extend postharvest-life. For oriental melon, an optimum CA is currently recommended to be 2-3% oxygen and 5-10% carbon dioxide atmosphere. Precooling, pretreatments of ethylene action and functional packaging system can be applied to oriental melon after harvest in order to extend storage life. Major active packaging technologies are concerned with a selectively gas permeable film related to respiration of produce and the packaging applications of ethylene removal, antimicrobial, and antifogging substances to keep the effective freshness of fruit.
Soybean plants were exposed to HTO vapor in an exposure box for 1 hour at different growth stages. Relative concentrations of TFWT at the end of exposure (percent ratios of TFWT concentrations to mean HTO concentrations in air moisture in the box during exposure) decreased on the whole in the order of leaf > shell > seed > stem with the highest values of 40.2% and 6.4% for leaf and stem, respectively. TFWT concentrations reduced by factors of several thousands to several hundred-thousands from the end of exposure till the harvest. The reduction factor decreased in the order of leaf > shell > seed > stem. Relative OBT concentrations at harvest (ratios of the OBT concentration in the dry plant part at harvest to the initial leaf TFWT concentration, ml $g^{-1}$) were in the range of $2.2{\times}10^{-5}{\sim}9.5{\times}10^{-3}$ for seeds being the highest when the exposure was performed at the actively seed-developing stage. The exposure time-dependent variation in the OBT concentration was much greater in seeds and shells than in leaves and stems. It was indicated that OBT would contribute to almost all the radiation dose due to the consumption of soybean seeds in most cases after an acute exposure of growing plants to HTO vapor. Present results are applicable to establishing and validating soybean $^3H$ models for an acute accidental release of HTO.

Pterocarpus erinaceus is a multipurpose tree species indigenous to semi-arid and Guinean-savanna woodlands of Africa. Natural regeneration on the savanna is being hampered by higher fire frequencies and other land use changes. Simultaneously, demand for timber from the species on the international market is on the rise, raising conservation concerns. To ensure sustainability, good quality seeds, sources of which have not received much research focus, are needed for afforestation. This study investigated how seed quality, germinability and initial seedling growth of P. erinaceus might be influenced by land-use type, mother tree size as well as source and timing of fruit harvest, using both correlational and experimental approaches. The results showed that up to 94.6% of all harvested fruits contained seeds, with no differences found between fruits harvested from cultivated and non-cultivated lands. Percentage of (sound) unblemished seeds was found to be higher for fruits harvested early March (47.3%) than fruits from late April (39.5%). Percentage sound seeds was 41.4% for dispersed fruits (i.e. detached fruits picked from under mother trees) which was not found to differ from undispersed fruits (i.e. fruits harvested while still attached to mother trees) at 45.5%. Also, the influence of fruit harvest time was not found to be different for dispersed and undispersed fruits. Correlations between seed set (proportion of fruits containing seeds) and mother tree size (both tree height and DBH) were found to be very low and non-significant for both dispersed and undispersed fruits. Across mother trees, mean emergence percent was 79.7%, and mean seedling height at three weeks following emergence was 5.32 cm. Both emergence percentage and seedling height were not found to differ among mother trees, but seeds from dispersed fruits had a higher emergence percent (85%) than seeds from undispersed fruits (74%). Implications of findings are discussed.
This study was conducted to select cultivars and determine the harvest period suited for the availability of biological activities in unripen apple. To analyze effective the components in the apple (Malus domestica), three cultivars, 'Summerking', 'Hongro', 'Fuji' were harvested from 40~50 days after full bloom to harvest time. Soluble solid content increased gradually by ripening but titratable acidity decreased with ripening regardless of the cultivars. The total phenol content significantly reduced with ripening from May 30 to July 30 (p<0.05). Substantially, the total phenol content of 'Hongro' in May 30 was four times higher than that of 'Summerking' in the same period and ten times higher than that of 'Hongro' in August 30. The total flavonoid content reduced with ripening regardless of cultivars (p<0.05) and that of 'Hongro' in May 30 was significantly highest (p<0.05). The ascorbic acid content was the highest in 'Hongro' in May 30 (p<0.05). The contents of tannin and ursolic acid significantly reduced with ripening from May 30 to July 30 (p<0.05), while no significant difference was observed between Hogro and Fuji after July 30. Therefore, 'Hongro' harvested in May 30 was considered to be best in the utilization of the effective components of immature apple.
