In this paper trajectory tracking control problems are described for a robot manipulator by using pneumatic actuator. Under the assumption that the so-called independent joint control is applied to the control system, the dynamic model for each link is identified as a linear second-order system with input time-delay by the step response. Then, an optimal servo controller is designed by taking account of such a time-delay. The effectiveness of the proposed control method is illustrated through some simulations and experiments for the robot manipulator.
Objectives : Atopic dermatitis is a skin problem that causes dry skin, intense itching, and then a red, raised rash. It may be a long-lasting (chronic) skin problem that requires more than one treatment. The cause of atopic dermatitis isn't clear, but it affects the skin's ability to hold moisture. The skin becomes dry, itchy, and easily irritated. The purpose of this study was to report the clinical effects of herbal medicine on atopic dermatitis. Methods : We employed oriental medical treatments; herbal-medication (Cheonggisanbyeonbang), acupuncture, moxibustion and cupping therapy. At the same time, the patient sweated out the skin poison. We treated him two times a week with oriental therapy method. He took medicine three times a day after a meal. During taking medicine, we let him avoid fatty food, flour based food, and alcohol. We took a picture the patient's body parts and compared the symptom with previous symptom. With the picture, we evaluated the patient's condition. Results : After taking treatment - 17 times' acupuncture, moxibustion and cupping therapy during 4 months- and taking herbal-medicine, the skin condition of the patient was much improved. At first, he was troubled with itching and hot feeling at reddish area, time after time the itching and hot feeling was weakened. The reddish area was changed to dry condition and changed to normal state. In advance, the symptom of arms was improved, and later the symptom of legs was started to improve. Conclusion : Herbal medicine (Cheonggisanbyeonbang) was an effective in the treatment of atopic dermatitis and it helped to improve regenerating the skin in the body.
The Purposes of this study are to determine differences of body temperature between Right arid left subligual areas itself and differences depending upon the utilization rate of mastication according to time intervals and to determine the length of time necessary for temperature taking. This Experiment was conducted from Oct 6 through Oct 11, 1975. in which accurately tested clinical Centigrade Thermometers have been utilized. Two thermometers were inserted simultaneously under the right and left sublingual areas and the mouth kept closed while thermometers were in Place. Temperature readings were dr no at three minutes, five minutes and ten minutes. These procedures were repeated one hundred times to different subjects and the data were analyzed statistically by means of the t-test and the F-ratio. Under the 10 hypotheses designed for this study, The findings obtained are as follows; 1. The body temperatures taken at 3, 5, 10minutes intervals in the left sublingual areas were significantly higher than in the right sublingual areas , The average differences of body temperature between the right and left sublingual areas were 0.09$^{\circ}C$, 0.05$^{\circ}C$ and 0.03$^{\circ}C$ in the oder of time interval of 3, 5, and 10 minutes. 2. The body temperatures taken in the right sublingual areas among three different temperature readings, 3, 5 and 10 minutes were significantly different in 57 subjects who have been utilizing evenly both sides of the Teeth. The average readings in a group taking for 3 minutes was 37.04$^{\circ}C$, for 5 minutes 37.15$^{\circ}C$ and for 10minutes 37.28$^{\circ}C$. 3. The body temperatures taken in the left sublingual areas among three different temperature readings, 3, 5 and 10 minutes were significantly different in 57 subjects who have been utilizing evenly both sides of the tenth. The average reading in a group taking for 3 minutes was 37.13$^{\circ}C$, for 5 minutes 37.2$^{\circ}C$ and for 10 minutes 37.31$^{\circ}C$. 4., Oral temperatures taken at 3, 5, 10 minutes intervals at the side of mouth utilized for more frequent mastication were Significantly higher than the other side. The average differences of body temperature between more frequently utilized side and Less frequently utilized side were 0.08f, 0.08f and 0.09f in the order of time interval of 3, 5 and 10 minutes. 5. Oral temperature taken at the side of mouth more frequently utilized for mastication among three different temperature readings, 3, 5 and 10 minutes were significantly different in 43 subjects who have been unequally utilizing either side of teeth. The average reading in a group taking for 3 minutes was 37.09$^{\circ}C$, for 5 minutes 37.17$^{\circ}C$ and for 10 minutes 37.3$^{\circ}C$. 6. Oral temperature taken at the side of mouth less frequently utilized for mastication among three different temperature readings 3, 5 and 10 minutes were significantly different in 43 subjects who have been unequally utilizing either side of teeth. The average reading in a group taking for 3 minutes was 37.01$^{\circ}C$, for S minutes 37.09$^{\circ}C$ and for minutes 37.21$^{\circ}C$. As a result of this study, these differences among time intervals were statistically significant, but there were not so much differences as to be considered important in the clinical practice. Therefore, there would be clinically little difference between two groups who are taking for 3 minutes and for 10 minutes.
The purpose of this study was to provide basic data for preventing the youth from their dug abuse and contributing to improve their health. A total of 1,210 students of middle and high schools in Pusan were selected to answer this questionnaire. The data was collected from March 23 to April 6, 1995. The major findings of this study are as follows; 1) The attitude about drugs of middle and high school students was desirable. By groups, girl students showed more desirable attitude than boy students, and middle school students than high school students. 2) For the experience of drinking coffee, 70.4% of the subjects of survey answered that they have had:62.4% of middle school students and 78.9% of high school students. For the stated time of drinking coffee 59.8% of them, the largest number, said from middle school days. 3) For the experience of drinking alcoholic liquors, 40.4% of the subjects of survey answered that they have had: 51.4%n of boy students and 29.5% of girl students, 23.4% of middle school students and 57.7% of high school students. For the started time of drinking liquors 53.1% of them, the largest number, said from middle school days. 4) For the experience of smoking, 24.8% of the subjects of survey answered that they have had: 37.2% of boy students and 12.5% of girl students, 16.3% of middle school students and 33.3% of high school students. For the started time of abusing drugs 71.0% of them, the largest number, said from middle school days. The kinds and composing ratio of abused drugs were: Timing was 51.4%, bond 20.3%, butane gas 12.6%, thinner 3.8%, methamphetamine 1.9% and mescaline 1.9%. 6) The attitude points toward drugs in case of not taking coffee and liquors, smoking and abusing drugs were higher than the points in case of taking them. 7) The rate of abusing drugs in case of taking coffee and liquors and smoking was higher than that in case of not taking them and smoking.
Ovarian cancer patients need a surveillance program for the detection of tumor progression after completion of treatment. The methods generally consist of history taking, physical examination, tumor marker monitoring and imaging. However, the details of recurrence detection with each method are not well defined. To clarify this issue, ovarian cancer patients who achieved complete or partial responses and developed tumor progression at the follow up time between January 2004 and December 2010 in University Hospital Chiang Mai, Thailand, were reviewed. Clinical data, CA 125 level and imaging results at the tumor progression time were recorded and analyzed. There were 144 ovarian cancer patients meeting the inclusion criteria with the mean age of 51 years and 62.5% of them were in an advanced stage. Complete response was achieved in 89 patients (61.8%) after primary treatment. The median progression free survival and overall survival were 15.5 months and 37.5 months, respectively. Abnormal symptoms presented in 49.3% of the studied patients and 59.7% developed physical examination abnormalities. In addition, CA 125 was elevated in 89.6% while in 74.3% of tumor progression was identified by CT-scan. Short treatment time period and a high level of CA 125 were significant independent prognostic factors in these patients. In conclusion, careful history taking, physical examination and monitoring of CA 125 levels are important methods for tumor progression detection in a surveillance program for epithelial ovarian cancer patients.
Background: Losing balance during locomotive actions becomes an increasing threat to both the community-dwelling elderly and elderly with Parkinson disease (PD). Those with PD may be at a high risk of fall due to particular characteristics during the turn. Turning around during locomotive actions may be one of problematic factors causing losing balance. Objects: This study is part of a larger study, which in part aims to identify turning strategies, to compare the strategies in the elderly with and without idiopathic PD aged 51 years and older and to distinguish whether the turning strategies can predict the elderly at risk of falls. Methods: A total of 22 community-dwelling elderlies (10 elderlies with idiopathic PD and 12 healthy elderlies) were investigated for the turning strategies during the timed up and go test. Results: There were some significant differences between the two groups during turning (p<.05). The idiopathic PD group had a tendency of challenging on taking more number of steps, more time to accomplish and staggering more for the turn relative to the control group. Conclusion: Taking more number of steps and more time to turn may be useful for distinguishing the characteristics of PD from that of the healthy elderly in turning strategy.
This Design research is a design of rescue equipment combined with beach garbage can for prompt rescue at the time of the accident in water. As a usual, it is used as garbage can hanging a garbage bag on the holders located in both sides, and it can be used to rescue drowning men promptly taking out a rescue tube located inside of the equipment at the time of the accident in water. Support is consisted of beach one, wall-hanging one and pipe one, and it could be installed to match the situation because it can be combined with all main frames. As a usual, it is used as garbage can in seaside, but it can be used to rescue drowning men promptly taking out a rescue tube after pulling the handle located in front of main frame at the time of the accident in water, and it can be used to pull drowning men out of the water because rope is kept in rescue tube.
This study investigates the kinetic characteristics of the Driggs motion in horse vaulting by stages through the three-dimensional video analysis of YTY and TABARA who won a high score and a low score respectively from the Driggs motion in horse vaulting during the Daegu Universiade 2003, which involves putting one's hands on the horse vaulting rotating sideways, stretching and rotating backward in the air, and twisting 900 degrees, so as to help develop the techniques of Korean gymnastic athletes. From the analyses of the duration of body center, horizontality, vertical position and horizontality, vertical speed and angle factors for each of four phases from the contact of the board to the takeoff from the horse vaulting. I arrived at the following conclusions: 1. It was found that the motion of bending oneself forward while rapidly stretching the knee joint when taking off from the board increases the horizontal speed of body center and shortens the time of the first jump. 2. It was found that S1 who won a high score shortened the time of the contact and takeoff from the horse vaulting and enlarged the shoulder joint angle for full blocking motion. It was also found that horizontal speed decreased while vertical speed increased when you rapidly stretch the right elbow joint while taking off from the horse vaulting. 3. It was found that horizontal distance was shortened to increase the height and time of staying in the air during the second jump.
There can be a significant amount of moment redistribution in composite frames consisting of steel columns and composite beams, due to cracking, creep and shrinkage of concrete. Considerable amount of computational effort is required for taking into account these effects for large composite frames. A methodology has been presented in this paper for taking into account these effects. In the methodology that has been demonstrated for moderately high frames, neural network models are developed for rapid prediction of the inelastic moments (typically for 20 years, considering instantaneous cracking, and time effects, i.e., creep and shrinkage, in concrete) at a joint in a frame from the elastic moments (neglecting instantaneous cracking and time effects). The proposed models predict the inelastic moment ratios (ratio of elastic moment to inelastic moment) using eleven input parameters for interior joints and seven input parameters for exterior joints. The training and testing data sets are generated using a hybrid procedure developed by the authors. The neural network models have been validated for frames of different number of spans and storeys. The models drastically reduce the computational effort and predict the inelastic moments, with reasonable accuracy for practical purposes, from the elastic moments, that can be obtained from any of the readily available software.
1. All the male students and female students who had taken these herb medicines showed a strong increase in immunity (P<0.01) and they were more effective to the male students (P<0.01) rather than the female students (P<0.05) (figure 1). Generally, immunity may be reduced at the time of fatigue and overwork but as these herb medicines have the effect of increasing immunity. Therefore, it is considered that they not only reduce the fatigue of human body but also heighten immunity against disease. 2. The students who had taken these herb medicines showed some reduction in Cortisol concentration in blood, which didn't show the difference of concentration up to statistical meaning compared to before taking the medicines (figure 2). Accordingly, it is regarded that these herb medicine drink restrained stress slightly. 3. The students who had taken these herb medicines showed some reduction in BUN concentration in blood, which didn't show the difference of concentration up to statistical meaning compared to before taking the medicines (figure 3). For the women, they restrained the toxicity of the kidneys just a little. Accordingly, it shows that these medicines are safe herb medicines without the toxicity of the kidneys. 4. The students who had taken these herb medicines didn't show the difference of concentration up to statistical meaning in sFOT and sGPT concentration in blood compared to taking them (figure $4{\sim}5$). Accordingly, it is suggested that these medicines are safe stuffs without the toxity of the liver. 5. Seven members of the university students answered to the questionaire that they were pleasant while taking the medicines and didn't feel fatigue. They answered very positively that they had better effects than before taking the medicines in many things (Refer to the Questionaire). However, one male student and two female students of them complained of temporary headache and indigestion for 2 days after taking these herb medicines but they said they had been taking cold medicines due to cold symptom before taking the medicines. Accordingly, it turns out that such temporary symptom is not irrelevant to these medicines. In conclusion, it is considered that these herb medicines have the effects of increasing immunity, restraining fatigue and stress through this clinical study carried out in simple way and that they are valuable as herb medicines without the toxity of the liver and kidneys.
