전기부상을 이용한 하수슬러지 농축 (Sewage Sludge Thickening Using Electroflotation)

  • The performance of EF (electroflotation) on the thickening of activated sludge were investigated using laboratory scale batch flotation reactor. In this paper, the effects of parameters such as electrode material, NaCl dosage, initial sludge concentration and electrode distance were examined. The results showed that the performance for sludge thickening of the five electrodes lay in: Pt/Ti > Ru/Ti > Ir/Ti > Ti mesh > Ti plate. The more NaCl dosage was high, the more sludge was thickened and the shorter thickening time was obtained. However, considering the final thickening time and sludge concentration, optimum NaCl dosage was 0.5 g/L. Thickening time and sludge concentration was not affected by electrode distance. In DAF (dissolved air flotation) system, optimum recycle ratio was 40% and thickening performance was lower than that of the EF.

Methylobacterium sp. GL-10의 유가식 배양에 의한 Methanol로 부터 Poly-$\beta$-hydroxybutyrate의 생산 (Production of Poly-$\beta$-hydroxybutyrate from Methanol by Fed-batch Cultivation of methylobacterium sp. GL-10)

  • The production of poly-$\beta$-hydroxybutyrate(PHB) from methanol by batch and fed-batch cultivations of Methylobacterium sp. GL-10 was studied. PHB accumulation was stimulated by the nutrients deficiency including, NH4+, SO42-, and K+. The nitrogen deficiency was the most critical factor for PHB accumulation. In batch cultivation, the maximum cell concentration and PHB content were 1.86g/l and 0.62g/l, respectively, with 1.0%(v/v) of methanol and 0.5g/1 of ammonium sulfate. The mass doubling time of Methylobacterum sp. GL-10 was in the range of 4-5 hrs. The cell growth and PHB accumulation were severely inhibited at the methanol concentration over than 2% (v/v). To overcome methanol Inhibition, constant feeding and intermittent feedillg fed-batch cultivations were adopted, using C/N molar ratio as a control factor. In constant feeding fed-batch process, cell concentration was increased up to 2.67g/1, and PHB yield was enhanced from 0.33 of batch culture to 0.53. The relatively low cell concentration was caused by methanol accumulated in culture broth at late growth phase. To prevent methanol accumulation and to maximize PHB production, DO-state intermittent fed-batch cultivation was attempted. The cell and PHB concentration was reached up to 4.55g/1 and 1.80g/1, respectively. It was possible to maintain methanol concentration low and also to feed nutrient of desired C/N molar ratio.

한방 기능성 음료분석 및 섭취후 흰쥐의 혈중 알코올 농도에 관한 연구 (A Study on the Analysis of Oriental Functional Beverage and on the Blood Alcohol Concentration or Rat after Drinking Liquors)

  • The production results of the oriental functional beverage, which is aimed at reducing the alcohol concentration in blood, are as follows. Different kinds of herb medicine ingredients were combined to achieve the balance between Yin And Yang. They were grouped according to their respective characteristics and extracted by heat, Then they were combined and produced following the most effective mixture ratio. The drink produced by this way consisted mainly of water, Sugar, mineral, protein and fiber were partially contained. Among the minerals, the proportion of calcium, potassium, magnesium was high and iron was also contained. This drink turned out to be effective in reducing the alcohol concentration in blood within a very short time when it was taken once after drinking and taken aging 30 minutes later, which would double the dosage. This result shows that development of such a functional beverage using the herbal medicine, At the same time it will play an important part in reducing the alcohol concentrate in blood after drinking liquors.

  • This study is designed to investigate the characteristics of $PM_{10}$ concentration and the chemical composition of heavy metallic components in the $PM_{10}$ sampled in western Busan from March to May, 2003. $PM_{10}$measurement was done during springtime of 2003, totaling 29 days: 9 days in March, 10 days in April and 10 days in May. With a sampling time of 24 hours, it started 9:00 AM on that day and ended 9:00 AM the next day. The mean contribution ratio of soil during springtime was $10.3\%$. Al had a significant correlation with Ca, Fe, Mg and Si and little correlation with Na, Ni and Zn.

Optimization of Maillard Reaction in Model System of Glucosamine and Cysteine Using Response Surface Methodology

  • Sulfur-containing amino acids play important roles in good flavor generation in Maillard reaction of non-enzymatic browning, so aqueous model systems of glucosamine and cysteine were studied to investigate the effects of reaction temperature, initial pH, reaction time, and concentration ratio of glucosamine and cysteine. Response surface methodology was applied to optimize the independent reaction parameters of cysteine and glucosamine in Maillard reaction. Box-Behnken factorial design was used with 30 runs of 16 factorial levels, 8 axial levels and 6 central levels. The degree of Maillard reaction was determined by reading absorption at 425 nm in a spectrophotometer and Hunter's L, a, and b values. ${\Delta}E$ was consequently set as the fifth response factor. In the statistical analyses, determination coefficients ($R^2$) for their absorbance, Hunter's L, a, b values, and ${\Delta}E$ were 0.94, 0.79, 0.73, 0.96, and 0.79, respectively, showing that the absorbance and Hunter's b value were good dependent variables for this model system. The optimum processing parameters were determined to yield glucosamine-cysteine Maillard reaction product with higher absorbance and higher colour change. The optimum estimated absorbance was achieved at the condition of initial pH 8.0, $111^{\circ}C$ reaction temperature, 2.47 h reaction time, and 1.30 concentration ratio. The optimum condition for colour change measured by Hunter's b value was 2.41 h reaction time, $114^{\circ}C$ reaction temperature, initial pH 8.3, and 1.26 concentration ratio. These results can provide the basic information for Maillard reaction of aqueous model system between glucosamine and cysteine.

토양 및 오염물질의 물성치가 연직배수재에 의한 현장오염정화에 미치는 영향에 대한 수치해석적 연구 (Numerical Analysis of Effects of the Physical Properties of Soil and Contaminant Materials on In-situ Soil Remediation Using Vertical Drain)

  • 오염토양의 현장정화에 있어서 지반 및 오염물질의 물성치는 정화에 소요되는 시간과 함께 매우 중요한 고려사항이다. Gabr 등(1996)은 연직배수재가 설치된 오염지반에서 시 공간적 변화에 따른 초기오염농도에 대한 오염농도비($C/C_0$)를 구하는 식을 유도하였다. 본 연구에서는 Gabr 등이 유도한 식의 전산모형 FLUSH1을 이용하여 오염지반 흙의 유효입경, 간극률, 형상계수, 밀도, 지반의 온도와 오염물질의 단위중량 및 점성계수가 오염정화에 미치는 영향을 알아보기 위하여 시 공간적 변화에 따른 오염농도비($C/C_0$)를 분석 하였다. 분석결과 연직배수재가 설치된 오염지반에서 정화에 크게 영향을 미치는 인자는 오염지반 흙입자의 유효입경인 것으로 나타났으며, 그 다음으로 오염물질의 점성, 오염지반 흙의 간극율, 형상계수, 지반의 온도, 오염물질의 단위중량, 흙의 밀도 순으로 분석되었다. 오염지반 흙의 밀도는 오염정화에 미치는 영향이 아주 작은 것으로 나타났다.

생성메카니즘에 따른 부유분진 등 입자상 nitrate 농도 (Concentration of Particulate Nitrate Classified by Formation Mechanism in Seoul Ambient Air)

  • Concentration of particulate nitrate classified by formation mechanism and particle diameter in ambient air was determined from Feb. to Oct. 1993. Sampling was carried out using a two-stage Andersen air sampler at the top of a five-story building located at Kon-Kuk University in seoul. Concentration of N $H_{4}$N $O_{3}$ in TSP was measured by pyrolysis of sample filters at 160.deg.C for 1hr. concentration of N $H_{4}$N $O_{3}$ was higher in winter time compared with that in summmer time. Also, concentration of N $H_{4}$N $O_{3}$ was higher in fine particles compared with that in coarse particle. The range of N $H_{4}$N $O_{3}$ concentration was between 2.9 and 9.9.mu.g/ $m^{3}$. Weight fraction of N $H_{4}$N $O_{3}$ in total particulate nitrate was 31.1 .sim. 59.5%, and weight fraction of N $H_{4}$N $O_{3}$ in TSP was 2.1 .sim. 11.2%. Concentration of NaN $O_{3}$, which originated from sea salt, was highest in spring time and lowest in summer time,and the concentration range was between 0.1 and 0.7.mu.g/ $m^{3}$. NaN $O_{3}$/TSP ratio was very low (0.1 .sim. 0.4%) indicating that the portion of NaN $O_{3}$in TSP was negligible. Concentration of particulate nitrate originated from soil was 2.4 .sim. 2.9.mu.g/ $m^{3}$. Weight fraction of that in total particulate nitrate was 14.0 .sim. 37.1%.

공기 중 메틸에틸케톤 제어를 위한 Pilot-Scale 흡수 시스템의 운영인자 분석 (Analysis of Operation Parameters of Pilot-Scale Packed-Absorption System for Airborne Methyl Ethyl Ketone Control)

  • Unlike many laboratory-scale studies on absorption of organic compounds (VOCs), limited pilot-scale studies have been reported. Accordingly, the present study was carried out to examine operation parameters for the effective control of a hydrophilic VOC (methyl ethyl ketone, MEK) by applying a circular pilot-scale packed-absorption system (inside diameter 37 cm ${\times}$ height 167 cm). The absorption efficiencies of MEK were investigated for three major operation parameters: input concentration, water flow rate, and ratio of gas flow-rate to washing water amount (water-to-gas ratio). The experimental set-up comprised of the flow control system, generation system, recirculation system, packed-absorption system, and outlet system. For three MEK input concentrations (300, 350, and 750 ppm), absorption efficiencies approached near 95% and then, decreased gradually as the operation time increased, thereby suggesting a non-steady state condition. Under these conditions, higher absorption efficiencies were shown for lower input concentration conditions, which were consistent with those of laboratory-scale studies. However, a steady state condition occurred for two input concentration conditions (100 and 200 ppm), and the difference in absorption efficiencies between these two conditions were insignificant. As supported by an established gas-liquid absorption theory, a higher water flow rate exhibited a greater absorption efficiency. Moreover, as same with the laboratory-scale studies, the absorption efficiencies increased as water-to-gas ratios increased. Meanwhile, regardless of water flow rates or water-to-gas ratios, as the operation time of the absorption became longer, the pH of water increased, but the elevation extent was not substantial (maximum pH difference, 1.1).

Preparation and Characterization of Modified Natural Rubber Applied to Seismic Isolation Damper Rubber

  • To improve the adhesive strength of natural rubber (NR) for a seismic isolation damper, citraconic acid-g-NR (CCA-g-NR) was synthesized via the melt grafting of citraconic acid (CCA) onto NR using an azobisisnomerobutyronitrile (AIBN) initiator. Subsequently, the influence of CCA and AIBN concentrations on the graft ratio G/R (%) and graft efficiency G/E (%) of the CCA-g-NR was investigated. The optimum CCA and AIBN concentrations required to achieve the desired G/R (3.49%) and G/E (49.8%) were found to be 7 phr and 0.13 phr, respectively. Additionally, we studied the influence of CCA-g-NR concentration on the mechanical properties (tensile strength, elongation at break, and modulus at 300%), adhesive strength, and cure characteristics of the rubber compound in the seismic isolation damper. As the concentration of CCA-g-NR increased, the elongation at break and adhesive strength of the compound increased, whereas its tensile strength and modulus at 300% decreased. Moreover, as the concentration increased, the maximum torque decreased and the scorch time was delayed to obtain an optimal vulcanization time.

중성자 조사에 의한 붕산수의 화학특성 변화 (Change of chemical properties by neutron irradiation in boric acid solution)

  • 붕산수를 중성자 조사하였을 때 발생하는 화학특성 변화를 측정하였다. 붕산 용액의 pH는 조사시간과 붕산농도가 증가할수록 감소하였다. 물의 방사분해물인 과산화수소는 붕산농도에 비례하였고 조사시간에는 반비례하였다. 기체 방사분해물인 수소와 산소기체는 당량비로 생성되었다. $^{10}B(n{\cdot}{\alpha})^7Li$ 핵반응으로 생성된 Li과 조사시간과의 상관관계는 낮은 붕산 농도범위에서는 좋지 않았으나 높은 농도범위에서는 비례성이 다소 좋아지는 현상을 발견하였다.
