Since web applications are accessed by anonymous users via web, more security risks are imposed on those applications. In particular, because security vulnerabilities caused by insecure source codes cannot be properly handled by the system-level security system such as the intrusion detection system, it is necessary to eliminate such problems in advance. In this paper, to enhance the security of web applications, we develop a static analyzer for detecting the well-known security vulnerability of PHP file inclusion vulnerability. Using a semantic based static analysis, our vulnerability analyzer guarantees the soundness of the vulnerability detection and imposes no runtime overhead, differently from the other approaches such as the penetration test method and the application firewall method. For this end, our analyzer adopts abstract interpretation framework and uses an abstract analysis domain designed for the detection of the target vulnerability in PHP programs. Thus, our analyzer can efficiently analyze complicated data-flow relations in PHP programs caused by extensive usage of string data. The analysis results can be browsed using a JAVA GUI tool and the memory states and variable values at vulnerable program points can also be checked. To show the correctness and practicability of our analyzer, we analyzed the source codes of open PHP applications using the analyzer. Our experimental results show that our analyzer has practical performance in analysis capability and execution time.
In order to derive domain-independent heuristics from the specification of a planning problem, it is required to relax the given problem and then solve the relaxed one. In this paper, we present a new planning graph, Merged Planning Graph(MPG), and GD heuristics for solving contingent planning problems with both uncertainty about the initial state and non-deterministic action effects. The merged planning graph is an extended one to be applied to the contingent planning problems from the relaxed planning graph, which is a common means to get effective heuristics for solving the classical planning problems. In order to get heuristics for solving the contingent planning problems with sensing actions and non-deterministic actions, the new graph utilizes additionally the effect-merge relaxations of these actions as well as the traditional delete relaxations. Proceeding parallel to the forward expansion of the merged planning graph, the computation of GD heuristic excludes the unnecessary redundant cost from estimating the minimal reachability cost to achieve the overall set of goals by analyzing interdependencies among goals or subgoals. Therefore, GD heuristics have the advantage that they usually require less computation time than the overlap heuristics, but are more informative than the max and the additive heuristics. In this paper, we explain the experimental analysis to show the accuracy and the search efficiency of the GD heuristics.

Recently, various novel numerical models based on Navier-Stokes equation rave been developed for calculating wave motions in the sea with coastal or ocean structures. Among those models, Volume Of Fluid (VOF) method might be the most popular one, and it has been used for numerical simulations of wave motions including complicated phenomena of wave breakings. VOF method, however, needs enormous computation time and large computational storage memories in general, thus it is practically difficult to use VOF method for calculations in the case of random waves because long and stable computation ( e.g. for more than 100 significant wave periods) is required to obtain statistically meaningful results. On the other hand of the wave motion is potential motion, Boundary Element Method (BEM), which is a much faster and more accurate method than VOF method, am be effectively used. The aim of this study is to develop a new efficient model applicable to calculations of wave motion and/or wave-structure interactions under random waves. To achieve this, a strictly combined BEM-VOF model has been developed by making the best use of both methods' merits; VOF method is used in a restricted fluid domain around a structure where complicated phenomena of wave breakings may exist, and BEM is used in the other domains far from the disturbance where the wave motion may be assumed to be potential. The verification of the model was performed with numerical results for Stokes'5th order wave propagation and a random wave propagation.
Programmed cell death or apoptosis is associated with changes in $K^+$ concentration in many cell types. Recent studies have demonstrated that two-pore domain $K^+$ ($K_{2P}$) channels are involved in mouse embryonic development and apoptotic volume decrease of mammalian cells. In cerebellar granule neurons that normally undergo apoptosis during the early developmental stage, TASK-1 and TASK-3, members of $K_{2P}$ channels, were found to be critical for cell death. This study was performed to identify the role of $K^+$ channels in the $H_2O_2$-induced or cryo-induced cell death of mouse and bovine embryos. Mouse and bovine two-cell stage embryos (2-cells) exposed to $H_2O_2$ for 4 h suffered from apoptosis. The 2-cells showed positive TUNEL staining. Treatment with high concentration of KCl (25mM) inhibited $H_2O_2$-induced apoptosis of 2-cells by 19%. Cryo-induced death in bovine blastocysts showed positive TUNEL staining only in the cells near the plasma membrane. Cryoprotectant supplemented with 25 mM KCl reduced apoptosis slightly compared to cryoprotectant supplemented with 5 mM KCl. However, the combination of antioxidants (${\beta}$-mercaptoethanol) with 25 mM KCl significantly decreased the rate of $H_2O_2$-induced and cryo-induced apoptosis compared to treatments with only antioxidants or 25 mM KCl. These results show that blockage of $K^+$ channel efflux for a short-time reduces $H_2O_2$- and cryo-induced apoptosis in mouse and bovine embryos. Our findings suggest that apoptosis in mouse and bovine embryos might be controlled by modulation of $K^+$ channels which are highly expressed in a given cell type.

This study was undertaken to analyze the effects of pavement thermal properties and water retention characteristics on the surface temperature of the gray permeable cement concrete pavement during the summer. Following is a summary of major results. 1) The hourly surface temperature of pavement could be well predicted with a heat transfer model program that incorporated the input data of major meteorological variables including solar radiation, atmospheric temperature, dew point, wind velocity, cloudiness and the evaporation rate of the pavements predicted by the time domain reflectometry (TDR) method. 2) When the albedo was changed to 0.5 from an arbitrary starting condition of 0.3, holding other variables constant, the peak surface temperature of the pavement dropped by 11.5%. When heat capacity was changed to $2.5\;kJm^{-3}K^{-1}\;from\;1.5\;kJm^{-3}K^{-1}$, surface temperature dropped by 8.0%. When daily evaporation was changed to 1 mm from 2 mm, temperature dropped by 5.7%. When heat conductivity was changed to $2.5\;Wm^{-1}K^{-1}\;from\;1.5\;Wm^{-1}K^{-1}$, the peak surface temperature of the pavement fell by 1.2%. The peak pavement surface temperature under the arbitrary basic condition was $24.46^{\circ}C$ (12 a.m.). 3) It accordingly became evident that the pavement surface temperature can be most effectively lowered by using materials with a high albedo, a high heat capacity or a high evaporation at the pavement surface. The glare situation, however, is intensified by raising of the albedo, moreover if reflected light is absorbed into surrounding physical masses, it is changed into heat. It accordingly became evident that raising the heat capacity and the evaporative capacity may be the moot acceptable measures to improve the thermal characteristics of the pavement. 4) The sensitivity of the surface temperature to major meteorological variables was as follows. When the daily average temperature changed to $0^{\circ}C\;from\;15^{\circ}C$, holding all other variables constant, the peak surface temperature of the pavement decreased by 56.1 %. When the global solar radiation changed to $200\;Wm^{-2}\;from\;600\;Wm^{-2}$, the temperature of the pavement decreased by 23.4%. When the wind velocity changed to $8\;ms^{-1}\;from\;4\;ms^{-1}$, the temperature decreased by 1.4%. When the cloudiness level changed to 1.0 from 0.5, the peak surface temperature decreased by 0.7%. The peak pavement surface temperature under the arbitrary basic conditions was $24.46^{\circ}C$ (12 a.m.)
Recently, research on database encryption for data protection and query result authentication methods has been performed more actively in the database outsourcing environment. Existing database encryption schemes are vulnerable to order matching and counting attack of intruders who have background knowledge of the original database domain. Existing query result integrity auditing methods suffer from the transmission overhead of verification object. To resolve these problems, we propose a group-order preserving encryption index and a query result authentication method based on the encryption index. Our group-order preserving encryption index groups the original data for data encryption and support query processing without data decryption. We generate group ids by using the Hilbert-curve so that we can protect the group information while processing a query. Finally, our periodic function based data grouping and query result authentication scheme can reduce the data size of the query result verification. Through performance evaluation, we show that our method achieves better performance than an existing bucket-based verification scheme, it is 1.6 times faster in terms of query processing time and produces verification data that is 20 times smaller.
Due to an increasing volume of XML data, it is considered prudent to store XML data on an industry-strength database system instead of relying on a domain specific application or a file system. For shredded XML data stored in relational tables, however, it may not be straightforward to apply existing algorithms for twig query processing, since most of the algorithms require XML data to be accessed in a form of streams of elements grouped by their tags and sorted in a particular order. In order to support XML query processing within the common framework of relational database systems, we first propose several bitmap indexes and their strategies for supporting holistic twig joining on XML data stored in relational tables. Since bitmap indexes are well supported in most of the commercial and open-source database systems, the proposed bitmapped indexes and twig query processing strategies can be incorporated into relational query processing framework with more ease. The proposed query processing strategies are efficient in terms of both time and space, because the compressed bitmap indexes stay compressed during data access. In addition, we propose a hybrid index which computes twig query solutions with only bit-vectors, without accessing labeled XML elements stored in the relational tables.
ENUM(tElephon NUmbering Mapping) is protocol that brings convergence between PSTN Networks and IP Networks using a unique worldwide E.164 telephone number as an identifier between different communication infrastructure. The mechanism provides a bridge between two completely different environments with E.164 number; IP based application services used in PSTN networks, and PSTN based application services used in IP networks. We propose a new way to organize and handle ENUM Tier 2 name servers to improve performance at the name resolution process in ENUM based application service. We build an ENUM based network model when NAPTR(Naming Authority PoinTeR) resource record is registered and managed by area code at the initial registration step. ENUM promises convenience and flexibility to both PSTN and IP users, yet there is no evidence how much patience is required when users decide to use ENUM instead of non-ENUM based applications. We have estimated ENUM response time, and proved how to improve performance up to 3 times when resources are managed by the proposed mechanism. The proposition of this thesis favorably influences users and helps to establish the policy for Tier 2 name server management.

In this study, we developed a fiber-optic temperature sensor (FOTS) based on a silicone oil and an optical time domain reflectometer (OTDR) to apply the measurement of a coolant leakage in the nuclear power plant. The sensing probe of the FOTS consists of a silicone oil, a stainless steel cap, a FC terminator, and a single mode optical fiber. Fresnel reflection arising at the interface between the silicone oil and the single mode optical fiber in the sensing probe is changed by varying the refractive index of the silicone oil according to the temperature. Therefore, we measured the optical power of the light signals reflected from the sensing probe. The measurable temperature range of the FOTS using a Cu-coated silica fiber is from $70^{\circ}C$ to $340^{\circ}C$ and the maximum operation temperature of the FOTS is sufficient for usage at the secondary system in the nuclear power plant.

Localized surface plasmon resonance (LSPR) has been explored recently as a promising approach to increase energy conversion efficiency in photovoltaic devices, particularly for thin film hydrogenated amorphous silicon (a-Si:H) solar cells. The LSPR is frequently excited via an electromagnetic (EM) radiation in proximate metallic nanostructures and its primary con sequences are selective photon extinction and local EM enhancement which gives rise to improved photogeneration of electron-hole (e-h) pairs, and consequently increases photocurrent. In this work, high-dielectric-constant (k) $ZrO_2$ (refractive index n=2.22, dielectric constant $\varepsilon=4.93$ at the wavelength of 550 nm) is proposed as spacing layer to enhance the LSPR for application to the thin film silicon solar cells. Compared to excitation of the LSPR using $SiO_2$ (n=1.46, $\varepsilon=2.13$ at the wavelength of 546.1 nm) spacing layer with Au nanoparticles of the radius of 45nm, that using $ZrO_2$ dielectric shows the advantages of(i) ~2.5 times greater polarizability, (ii) ~3.5 times larger scattering cross-section and ~1.5 times larger absorption cross-section, (iii) 4.5% higher transmission coefficient of the same thickness and (iv) 7.8% greater transmitted electric filed intensity at the same depth. All those results are calculated by Mie theory and Fresnel equations, and simulated by finite-difference time-domain (FDTD) calculations with proper boundary conditions. Red-shifting of the LSPR wavelength using high-k $ZrO_2$ dielectric is also observed according to location of the peak and this is consistent with the other's report. Finally, our experimental results show that variation of short-circuit current density ($J_{sc}$) of the LSPR enhanced a-Si:H solar cell by using the $ZrO_2$ spacing layer is 45.4% higher than that using the $SiO_2$ spacing layer, supporting our calculation and theory.
