Purpose: This study was to examine the effects of a Self-management program on physical function and quality of life of women with knee osteoarthritis. Method: The participants for this study, who had knee osteoarthritis, were recruited from an arthritis clinic, at a university hospital located in S city, Korea between February 16, 2004 and June IS, 2004. Seventeen subjects in the control group received no intervention and 18 subjects in for experimental group received an individual Self-management program. The self-management program consisted of dietary education and home-based exercise; walking and resistance exercise. The subjects performed this program 5 times per week during 8 weeks and recorded a diary for diet and exercise. In order to verify the effects of the Self-management program, physical function and Quality of life as a dependent variable were measured at three points in time: before, week4 and week8 after the interventions. Result: There were significant increases on physical function (F=5.08, p=.002) and significant interaction effects (F=7.42, p=.002) in the intervention group over the three measurement points in time. In addition, there were significant increases on quality of life (F=8.08, p=.002) and significant interaction effects (F=4.89, p=.016) in the intervention group over the three measurement points in time. Conclusion: This study revealed that a Self-management program can be used as an efficient nursing intervention for women with knee osteoarthritis.
This study was conducted to develop a comprehensive program for improving obese children's living habits such as wearing clothing and eating, and their self-esteem. Thirteen obese elementary school children, six boys and seven girls in the 4th to 6th grade, voluntarily participated in a ten-week intervention program. During the program, the obese children filled out a checklist consisted of daily ambient temperature inside the house, weight of clothing, meal diary, time taken for physical exercise, time taken for watching TV, etc. After carrying out the program, its effect was testified and evaluated. Percent body fat of the children measured using a body composition analyzer was reduced by $1.9\%$ after the program (p<.01). Wearing behavior of clothing was positively changed in view of the high correlation between ambient temperature and clothing weight (r=-.917, p<.01). Ability of dietary self control was improved and eating time was lengthened. Self-esteem was improved in global self-worth, athletic competence, and behavior/conduct. It was suggested that active interest of the family would be helpful and that an intervention program over longer than ten week would be necessary to improve childhood obesity.

Thirty six female students participated in the experiment of the fat mass weight loss. they kept diary for foods they ate every day, took a picture of the foods, transmitted the picture to the experimenter by the camera phone, and consulted him about fat mass loss once a week for 8 weeks period. Fat mass weight and its related factors of the students had been measured repeatedly every week during 8 weeks, The repeated measurement data were used for applying various random coefficient models. And hence optimal random coefficient model was selected. From the optimal model, the baseline, body mass index, diastolic blood pressure, total cholesterol and time of the fixed factors were very significant. The fixed quadratic time effect existed. The variance components corresponding to the subject effect, linear time effect of the random coefficients were all positive. Thus random coefficients up to the linear terms were considered as the optimal model. The treatment effect reduced the weight loss to an average of 2.1kg at the end of the period.
This study examined how middle-aged and elderly persons allocated their time in overall perspective and whether the patterns were varied by age, socio-demographic factors, and the interaction effect between them. This study analyzed the 2009 Time Use Survey Data (17,096 time-diaries of people aged 45 or more) of the National Statistical Office using tobit regression model. The main results are as follows. First, middle-aged and elderly people gradually decreased paid work times. Second, the patterns of time allocation were varied by age, gender, education level, marital status and household type(Agricultural/non-agricultural). Third, there were interaction effects between age and the socio-demographic factors on paid work time and leisure time. Highly educated or urban persons were likely to have less time in paid work less than other groups with increasing age. And females were likely to have less time in domestic labor and care work than males with increasing age. But they had more time in social and economic productive activities than males. Based on these findings, this study suggests comprehensive approach to analyze the time use of elderly beyond economic working time or leisure time. To establish effective ageing society policy, it is necessary to consider the time allocation of elderly which divided into the social stratification.

Objectives: Time-activity studies have become an integral part of comprehensive exposure assessment and personal exposure modeling. The aims of this study were to estimate exposure levels to nitrogen dioxide($NO_2$) and volatile organic compounds(VOCs), and to compare estimated exposures by using time-activity patterns and indoor air concentrations. Methods: The major microenvironments for office workers were selected using the Time-Use Survey conducted by the National Statistical Office in Korea in 2009. A total of 9,194 and 6,130 workers were recruited for weekdays and weekends, respectively, from the Time-Use Survey. It appears that workers were spending about 50% of their time in the house and about 30% of their time in other indoor areas during the weekdays. In addition, we analyzed the time-activity patterns of 20 office workers and indoor air concentrations in Daegu using a questionnaire and time-activity diary. Estimated exposures were compared with measured concentrations using the time-weighted average analysis of air pollutants. Conclusions: According to the time-activity pattern for the office workers, time spent in the residence indoors during the summer and winter have been shown as $11.12{\pm}2.20$ hours and $12.48{\pm}1.77$ hours, respectively, which indicates higher hours in the winter. Time spent in the office in the summer has been shown to be 1.5 hours higher than in the winter. The target pollutants demonstrate a positive correlation ($R^2=0.076{\sim}0.553$)in the personal exposure results derived from direct measurement and estimated personal exposure concentrations by applying the time activity pattern, as well as measured concentration of the partial environment to the TWA model. However, these correlations were not statistically significant. This may be explained by the difference being caused by other indoor environments, such as a bar, cafe, or diner.

The purpose of this study is to examine the allocation of time between work and leisure by the rural elderly in Korea. The data used for this study are collected from fm households during the peak ($17^{th}\;to\;30^{th}$ June) and off-peak ($28^{th}$ November to $10^{th}$ December) farming seasons of 2005 using time diary. The sample for this study consists of 120 elderly over 65 years old living in rural area in eight provinces. The major findings are as follows. (1) The time spent of farm work by rural elderly in much longer than average work hours of elderly in general regardless of farming season. The indicates that the elderly farmers are the sustaining forces of agriculture as the urban industrial sector absorbs the younger labor force rural area. (2) There are significant differences in the work time(including form work, housework, and farm work plus house work) by gender, age, education, marital status, living arrangements. (3) The rural elderly spends less time in leisure compared to the elderly in general even during the off-peak season. (4) Especially during the peak season, time allocation between work and leisure by the rural elderly is heavily skewed, resulting in an inadequate amount of time for reproduction of labor. (5) There is only significant age difference in the amount leisure time regardless of farming season. (6) Male elderly farmers work approximately 30 minutes to 1 hour longer on farm than the females do, but the total work time (farm work plus housework) of female elderly is longer than that of the male elderly. There is no significant gender difference in the amount of leisure time during the peak season, whereas the men have more leisure than the women during the off-peak season. To conclude, the gender differences in time allocation among the rural elderly are minimal. However, the rural elderly of both genders suffers from excessive work hours and heavy workload compared to the urban counterpart.
The aim of this study was to get answers to following research questions: Who are the busy people in such a speedy society like Korea? How the daily schedules of busy people might look like? What is the priority of activity that appear in their schedules?, And what is the gender difference? The sample of study came form the 2004 Korean Time Diary Data which have been collected by Korean National Statistical Office. The sample consisted of 11,976 married men and women, whose age range from 25-54 (women 49.7% of the sample). Dependent variable was time pressure measured in one item question with 4-likert scale. Socio-demographic factors and the amount of time in work/family role and other relevant activities were considered as well as gender. The results of the study showed us that men perceived more time deficit compared to women. Especially, employed men were the most time poor group, followed by employed women, unemployed women and unemployed men. The results showed that, even though there were similarities in the impact of relevant factors, men's time pressure were tightly linked with their work role and social status, while women's time pressure were responsive to both their role as a mother and as a worker. Nowadays, Korean fathers appear to face new expectation that they need to be involved in family just like mothers do. However, men and women still seems to traverse through different time path, which may create both burden and conflict to either party. Policy implication and detailed suggestions were discussed.
The purpose of this study was to utilize it as useful basic data for improving oral health and for developing educational guidelines, by surveying the intake frequency in cariogenic food and the dietary intake status in detergent food through dietary life diary of some female undergraduates, and by researching into relationship between dietary intake factor and dental caries. It allowed dietary life diary for 5 days to be recorded targeting female undergraduates for the Dept. of Dental Hygiene, selected dietary life diary of 66 people without omission of record, and used it in this study. The following conclusions were obtained. 1. As a result of surveying the food intake status, it was indicated to be 12.82 for cariogenic food intake frequency, 256.36 for caries incidence available time and 8.32 for detergent food intake frequency. 2. As a result of surveying in order to examine relationship between cariogenic food intake frequency, detergent food intake frequency & cariogenic light-meal intake frequency and dental caries by dividing group with caries and group with non-caries, the group with caries was indicated to be a little higher than the group with non-caries. However, statistically significant difference wasn't indicated. 3. In the correlation between dietary intake status and dental caries, it was indicated that the more rise in cariogenic food intake frequency leads to the more rise in detergent food intake frequency and even in total light-meal intake frequency, but wasn't shown correlation with dental caries. In light of the above results, many limitations were indicated in finding and analyzing the dental caries incidence level and cause just with a method through surveying dietary intake. However, given the more in cariogenic food intake frequency and detergent food intake frequency, the possibility of dental caries incidence could be predicted.

Objectives: We conducted a public health promotion program in Korean medicine for participants suffering from chronic insomnia in 2016~2017. A significant improvement effect was obtained through the 8-week herbal medicine treatment program. The object of this study is to report the results of this public health promotion program. Methods: Seventy patients diagnosed with chronic insomnia participated in the program, 49 of whom completed the program. Participants were treated with the herbal medicine for insomnia treatment for 8 weeks. A sleep diary was used to assess the total sleep time, sleep latency, and number of times the participants woke. The treatment satisfaction was then evaluated. Results: Through the 8-week herbal medicine treatment program, the total sleep time was significantly increased by $109.59{\pm}70.77$ minutes, the sleep latency was significantly decreased by $63.53{\pm}47.79$ minutes, and the number of times the participants woke was significantly decreased by $1.54{\pm}1.19$ times compared to the baseline (all, p=0.000). Among the 24 patients who were examined for the treatment satisfaction, the average score was 4.33 points of a total of 5 points. Six patients had adverse events. Except for one patient, the symptoms of other patients were mitigated by changing or discontinuing the herbal medicine. Conclusions: For patients with chronic insomnia, the 8-week herbal medicine treatment program was effective, with few side effects and high treatment satisfaction. This study has significance as this is the first report in Korea on the effect of a herbal medicine treatment program for chronic insomnia through Korean medicine public health promotion.
In the recent years, the companies have manually recorded a production status in a work diary or have mainly used a bar code in order to collect each process's progress status, production performance and quality information in the production and logistics process in real time. But, it requires an additional work because the worker's record must be daily checked or the worker must read it with the bar code scanner. At this time, data's accuracy is decreased owing to the worker's intention or mistake, and it causes the problem of the system's reliability. Accordingly, in order to solve such problem, the companies have introduced RFID which comes into the spotlight in the latest automatic identification field. RFID is an automatic identification technology by radio communication technology that allows us to identify or record information without contacting the corresponding object, and as Gen2 and EPCIS, EPCglobal's standard tag for RFID, have recently been established, it will be introduced to the whole computation industry. This study suggests RFID type Modeling Notation for analyzing logistics flow to improve MES focusing on extended model of EPCIS, and EPCISEvent Template in manufacturing industry.
