  • To investigate the effects of alternating magnetic field intensity and stimulation time on the proliferation of human breast cancer cells (BT-20), we cultured the cells under a magnetic field with a saw tooth waveform of 2 kHz. The field intensities varied from 3 to 7 mT, and the stimulation time varied from 24 to 72 hours. Cell proliferation decreased dramatically to 40% during magnetic stimulation for 72 hours at 5 mT. However, the cells were not affected by a strong magnetic field of 7 mT. The p-values obtained using statistical package for social science software were below 0.05 for 5-7 mT. This means that the results have statistical significance. However, it is difficult to explain our results based on the physiology of cell membranes, which have various ionic flows at ion channels.

  • Vertically aligned CNTs were grown on Fe-deposited $SiO_2$ substrates using thermal CVD of acetylene gas. The size of Fe particle is controlled by the flow rate of $NH_3$ and pretreatment time, which leads to control the diameter of CNTs. As the diameter of CNTs decreases, the growth rate is enhanced with an inverse dependence of the CNT diameter. The growth rate of CNTs increases linearly as the growth time increases until 30 min but is rapidly decreased over 40 min. We found an inverse relation between the diameter and growth rate of carbon nanotubes. As the diameter of CNTs increases, the compartment layers of bamboo-shaped CNTs appear more frequently. A base-growth model is suitable to explain the dependence of growth rate and structure of CNTs on the diameter size of catalytic particles.

  • We studied the dependence of the electrical characteristics of MgO protecting layer on temperature in an AC PDP cell. Careful measurements of the surface resistance of MgO were performed for the temperature range from room temperature to $100^{\circ}C$ with and without the VUV illumination. Experimental results show that the resistivity is affected by not only the temperature but also VUV irradiation. The measurement of wall charge distribution and the address discharge delay time as to the temperature show that the resistivity change of MgO may affect the wall voltage and consequently the discharge delay time.

  • The purpose of this work is to investigate the fundamental properties of the gradual muscle force potentiation. We investigated the dependence of force potentiation on both the pulse-amplitude and the pulse-duration with different ramp-up time. The experimental results showed that the force increment ratio (FIR) during constant electrical stimulation decreased with pulse-amplitude and also with pulse-duration. The FIR was greater with short ramp-up time in both the pulse-amplitude and pulse-width modulation. The feasible mechanism might be that the myosin light chain phosphorylation induces the force potentiation and it occurs only in the fast type muscle fibers which are recruited first. These observations indicate that muscle potentiation must be understood well for the accurate control of muscle force.

  • Threshold voltage shift occurring during operation is implemented in a SPICE simulation tool. Among the shift models the stretched-exponential function model, which is frequently observed from both single-crystal silicon and thin-film transistors regardless of the nature of causes, is selected, adapted to transient simulation, and added to BSIM4 developed by BSIM Research Group at the University of California, Berkeley. The adaptation method used in this research is to select degradation and recovery models based on the comparison between the gate and threshold voltages. The threshold voltage shift is extracted from SPICE transient simulation and shows the stretched-exponential time dependence for both degradation and recovery situations. The implementation method developed in this research is not limited to the stretched-exponential function model and BSIM model. The proposed method enables to perform transient simulation with threshold voltage shift in situ and will help to verify the reliability of a circuit.

  • In this paper, we present a new delay-dependent and parameter-dependent robust stability condition for uncertain singular systems with polytopic parameter uncertainties and time-varying delay. The robust stability criterions based on parameter-dependent Lyapunov function are expressed as LMI (linear matrix inequality). Moreover, the proposed robust stability condition is a general algorithm for both singular systems and non-singular systems. Finally, numerical examples are presented to illustrate the feasibility and less conservativeness of the proposed method.

  • It was measured the transmittance and the reflectance by tie dip method using the UV cut lens' UV solution. The half point and the edge wavelength of the transmittance were wry well applied to the eqution of a dip time dependence. $$W=W_0+A_1{e}{x}{p}[-(x-x_1)/t_1]$$ The half point wavelength of the transmittance shifted from 358 nm to 408 nm and the edge wavelength moved from 340 nm to 398 nm. The more dip time had long the less intensity of main reflectance peak-380 nm was small and shifted to long wavelength regions. And the component peak of UV solution began to show in dip time-10 min.
