In the virtual environment, reality can be enhanced by offering the motion based on a motion simulator in harmony with visual and auditory modalities. In this research the Stewart-Gough-platform-based motion simulator has been developed. Implementation of vehicle dynamics is necessary in the motion simulator for realistic sense of motion, so bicycle dynamics is adopted in this research. In order to compensate for the limited range of the motion simulator compared with the real vehicle motion, washout algorithm composed of high-pass filter, low-pass filter and tilt coordination is usually employed. Generally, the washout algorithm is used with fixed parameters. In this research a new approach is proposed to tune the filter parameters based on fuzzy logic in real-time. The cutoff frequencies of the filters are adjusted according to the workspace margins and driving conditions. It is shown that the washout filter with the fuzzy-based parameters presents better performance than that with the fixed ones.
The purpose of this study was to investigate relation between fastball motion and longtoss motion, and the kinematical analysis using APAS(Ariel Performance Analysis System). Eight people(age: $21.2{\pm}3.6years$, height: $177.1{\pm}3.1cm$, weight $68.6{\pm}2.5kg$) participated in the experiment. Followings are the conclusion. In displacement of fore-aft on COG(Center of Gravity), fastball motion moved more forward than longtoss motion. In displacement of vertical on COG(Center of Gravity), fastball motion was lower than longtoss motion In velocity of right hand, greater release velocity was measured for fastball motion than for longtoss motion. In displacement of elbow and shoulder joint, more extended displacement was exhibited in fastball motion than longtoss motion. In displacement of trunk tilt, fastball motion showed foreward tilt, longtoss motion showed backward tilt. In stride, fastball showed longer than longtoss.
Purpose: The purpose of this study was to compare the effects of passive scapular upward rotation and posterior tilt and active scapular posterior tilt on the muscle activity of the upper trapezius (UT), lower trapezius (LT), and serratus anterior (SA). Methods: Fifteen healthy subjects performed general arm elevation, arm elevation with passive scapular upward rotation and posterior tilt, and arm elevation with active scapular posterior tilt. For active scapular posterior tilt, the subjects were trained in this movement using visual biofeedback and a motion sensor. During each arm elevation condition, electromyography was used to measure the muscle activity of the UT, LT, and SA. The measured data were analyzed using a one-way repeated ANOVA. Results: LT muscle activity was significantly increased during arm elevation with active scapular posterior tilt compared to both general arm elevation and arm elevation with passive scapular upward rotation and posterior tilt (p < 0.05). SA muscle activity was greater during arm elevation with passive scapular upward rotation and posterior tilt than during general arm elevation (p < 0.05). There was no significant change in UT muscle activity among the tested arm elevation conditions (p > 0.05). Conclusion: Performing arm elevation with active scapular posterior tilt and performing arm elevation with passive scapular upward rotation and posterior tilt may be useful strategies for increasing muscle activation of the LT and SA, respectively.
Although there have been various studies related to the body's movement from a sitting to a standing position (sit-to-stand task), there is limited information on the kinematic changes on the frontal and transverse planes. The purpose of this study was to ascertain how pelvic tilt affects kinematic changes in the frontal and transverse planes in the hip and knee joints during a sit-to-stand task. For this study, 33 healthy participants (13 female) were recruited. Each participant rose from a sitting to a standing posture at his or her preferred speed for each of three different pelvic tilt trials (anterior, posterior, and neutral), and the measured angles were analyzed using a 3-D motion analysis system. A one-way repeated measure analysis of variance was performed with Bonferroni's post hoc test. In addition, an independent t-test was carried out to determine the sex differences in hip and knee joint kinematic changes during the sit-to-stand tasks. The results were as follows: 1) The hip and knee joint angle in the frontal and transverse planes showed a significant difference between the different pelvic tilt postures during sitting in the pre-buttock lift-off phase (pre-LO) (p<.05). Compared to the posterior pelvic tilt posture, the anterior pelvic tilt posture involved significantly greater hip joint adduction and internal rotation, knee joint adduction, and reduced internal rotation of the knee joint. 2) Sex differences were found with significant differences for males in the initial and maximal angles in the frontal plane of the hip and knee joint (p<.05). Females had a significantly smaller initial abduction angle of the hip joint and a significantly greater maximal angle of the hip adduction joint. These results suggest that selecting a sit-to-stand exercise for pelvic tilt posture should be considered to control abnormal movement in the lower extremities.

Information about camera operating such as zoom, focus, pan, tilt and tracking is useful not only for efficient video coding, but also for content-based video representation. A camera operating parameter measurement system designed specifically for these applications is therefore developed. This system, implemented in real time and synchronized with the video signal, measures the precise camera operating parameters. We calibrated the camera lens using a camera model that accounts for redial lens distortion. The system is then applied to infer image motion from pan and tilt operating parameters. The experimental results show that the inferred motion coincides with the actual motion very well, with an error of less than 0.5 pixel even for large motion up to 80 pixels.
This paper describes a new feature based tracking system that can track moving objects with a pan-tilt camera. We extract corner features of the scene and tracks the features using filtering, The global motion energy caused by camera movement is eliminated by finding the maximal matching position between consecutive frames using Pyramidal template matching. The region of moving object is segmented by clustering the motion trajectories and command the pan-tilt controller to follow the object such that the object will always lie at the center of the camera. The proposed system has demonstrated good performance for several video sequences.
This study shows a control strategy that acquires both precision and manipulation sensitivity of remote center motion with manual traction for a surgical assistant robot. Remote center motion is an essential function of a laparoscopic surgical robot. The robot has to keep the position of the insertion port in a three-dimensional space, and general laparoscopic surgery needs 4-DoF (degree-of-freedom) motions such as pan, tilt, spin, and forward/backward. The proposed robot consists of a 6-axis collaborative robot and a 2-DoF end-effector. A 6-axis collaborative robot performs the cone-shaped trajectory with pan and tilt motion of an end-effector maintaining the position of remote center. An end-effector deals with the remaining 2-DoF movement. The most intuitive way a surgeon manipulates a robot is through direct teaching. Since the accuracy of maintaining the remote center position is important, direct teaching is implemented based on position control in this study. A force/torque sensor which is attached to between robot and end-effector estimates the surgeon's intention and generates the command of motion. The predefined remote center position and the pan and tilt angles generated from direct teaching are input as a command for position control. The command generation algorithm determines the direct teaching sensitivity. Required torque for direct teaching and accuracy of remote center motion are analyzed by experiments of panning and tilting motion.
We are developing Adaptive Optics (AO) system for 1m telescope at Gwacheon National Science Museum Observatory. The beam spot of the Gwacheon 1m telescope. The tip-tilt correction system consists of a CMOS sensor, a tip-tilt mirror and a feed back loop. The beam spot location at the CMOS sensor indicates the tip-tilt components of the incoming light. The tip-tilt mirror is controlled by DAC output voltage calculated by proportional-integral-derivative (PID) controller. This system successfully corrects the tip-tilt motion of the spot.

Purpose: The aim of this study was to determine the effectiveness of pelvic tilt training using an inclinometer on joint position sense and postural alignment in individuals with stroke. Methods: Thirty-one subjects with chronic stroke were divided into two groups: the experimental group (16 subjects) and the control group (15 subjects). Subjects in both groups received neuro-developmental therapy five times per week. In addition, the patients in the experimental group also received pelvic tilt training using an inclinometer for 30 minutes, 3 times a week for 4 weeks. Maximal range of anterior, posterior pelvic tilt and joint position sense were used to evaluate pelvic tilt motion. Image analysis was performed for evaluation of postural alignment on in standing position. Results: Significant difference in Iimprovement of pre- and post-intervention of joint position sense was observed showed significant difference (p<0.05) in all groups. Experimental groups showed sSignificant differences in maximal range of posterior pelvic tilt in on the paretic side were observed in the experimental groups compared to with the control group (p<0.05). Conclusion: These findings suggest that pelvic tilt training using an inclinometer may help to improve range of pelvic tilt and joint position sense of stroke patients.
